JRA Configuration: nonGlobal, shareable, or unshareable?

Hello experts,
in the "JRA Start Session" action there are 3 entries for each JCA connection factory of the "SAP JavaResourceAdapter15".
deployedAdapters/SAP/MIISyncComm1/<type>/SAP/MIISyncComm1 where
<type> is nonGlobal, shareable, or unshareable
What are the differences between these 3 types?
nonGlobal
shareable
unshareable
Best regards,
Martin

Martin,
take a look into the link below. Michael Appleby describes the differences in this post.

  • Why clone the default JRA configuration?

    When I follow the xMII install guide, I see a step called "Cloning the Def ault JRA Configuration".
    Why is this necessary?  I did not see this for a pure Java system install.
    Could you kindly explain?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards.

    Hi,
    I have used JRA Cloning in SAP MII 12.1.6
    As per my knowledge when you want to use JRA action blocks in SAP MII Workbench under transaction.
    In JRA Start session action block you need to configure JRA Connector Name which contains following info.
    Than you need to configure clone of default JRA in which we will pass all SAP system (to which you want to communicate)details like
    SAPClient
    The SAP ECC client number to which you want to connect
    UserName
    The SAP ECC-defined user for the communication
    Password
    The SAP ECC-defined password for your user name
    Language
    The logon language for the user
    ServerName
    The SAP ECC server URL as it resolves on your network (Fully Qualified)
    PortNumber
    The SAP ECC-defined system number to which you are connecting
    just for understaning as we pass different parameter in JCO action blocks like  client, username, password etc..
    Hope this help

  • JRA  nonGlobal, shareable, unshareable

    When selecting the JRA Connector Name in a SAP JRA Start Session Action I am presented with three options, .../nonGlobal/SAPJRAFactory, .../shareable/SAPJRAFactory, and .../unshareable/SAPJRAFactory.
    I am having a hard time finding documentation about these different options. Can someone explain the different modes or point me to the relevant documentation?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Christian

    JRA Connection Type Definitions
    shareable: Inside a JRA transaction 1 physical connection will be created even if the applications wants
    to acquire 2 or more connections from one resource adapter. All connections that are returned to the
    application will share one physical connection (This is the JRA operation default).
    Shareable, global trx, application authorization
    unshareable: Inside a JRA transaction 2 or more physical connections will be created if the application
    requires 2 or more connections from one resource adapter. Each connection for the application will use
    separate physical connections from the connection pool.
    Non-shareable, global trx, application authorization
    nonGlobal: Connections which are acquired from connection factory with this setting will not be
    enlisted into distributed (Java Transaction API or JTA) transactions and are an SAP ECC specific.
    Non-shareable, non-global trx, application authorization
    Hope this helps,
    Mike

    In addition to my above reply, please follow the below steps -
    Step 1 . JRA Configuration via Visual Administrator (VA)
    1.Visual Administration
    2.start VA via go.bat file (and login to the J2EE system)
    3.on the u201CClusteru201D tab go to: Server->Services->Connector Container
    4.In u201CRuntimeu201D tab expand branch u201Csap.com/sapjra.raru201D.
    5. Mark service u201Ceis/SAPJRAFactoryu201D and go to u201CManaged Connection Factoryu201D tab and then to u201CConnection Definitionu201D tab. Set there u201CMaximum Connectionsu201D  to value higher than 0.
    6.Save your changes with  u201CDisketteu201D icon
    7.Now mark service u201Ceis/SAPJRAFactoryu201D and use clone icon (two paper sheets)
    8.Enter name u201CSAPJRAFactory_ENu201D and press OK
    9.Check whether cloning is successful or not.
    10.Go to u201CManaged Connection Factoryu201D tab and then to u201CPropertiesu201D tab and check there if language fits to the factoryu2019s name. If needed adjust language settings and save your changes with  u201CDisketteu201D icon
    Note : All parameters in u201CPropertiesu201D tab must be u201CStringu201D type.Repeat clone step as many times as many languages you want to serve. For example : - u201CSAPJRAFactory_DEu201D service has set up language as German.
    Step 2. Connection setup for self registering programs
    To upload deployed mobile components to the ABAP Stack it is necessary that the EJB MobileContainerBean is registered as a program. Furthermore a RFC connection has to be created in ABAP stack to access the EJB. The access to the EJB will be performed when the function module MEMGMT_MOBILE_CONTAINER_SYNC is called. To ensure that the connection can be created the following tasks have to be performed once.
    Creation of the JCo RFC Connection
    1.     Start the visual administrator of your J2EE.
    2.     And open the node of your server.
    3.     under Services -> JCO Rfc Provider Tab Runtime you are able to create a new connection.
    4.     create a connection with following parameter
    a.     RFC Connection
    i.     Program ID = MEMGMT_MOBILE_CONTAINER_SYNC
    ii.     Gateway host = <Gateway of your system>
    iii.     Gateway service = <the service of your gateway>
    iv.     Number of processes(1..20) = 5
    b.     Repository
    i.     Application server host = <the application server where the program should be registered>
    ii.     System number = <System number of  your system>
    iii.     Client = <logon client >
    iv.     User = < Logonuser>
    v.     Password = <password of the logon user>
    c.     If you have a Unicode system mark Unicode
    5.     Use the SET Button to save you settings
    6.     Mark the new entry u201CMEMGMT_MOBILE_CONTAINER_SYNCu201D under available RFC destinations and choose start. If the start button is grayed out your Connection from J2EE side is established and the program is registered.
    creating a RFC Connection in ABAP to access EJB
    1.     Logon to your middleware and start transaction sm59.
    2.     Mark the node TCP/IP connection and choose the create button
    3.     Choose an new name for your connection
    4.     set the connection type to u201CTu201D and enter a description
    5.     select the tab technical settings and mark the radio button Registered Server Program
    6.     enter as Program id u201CMEMGMT_MOBILE_CONTAINER_SYNCu201D
    7.     as Gateway host and gatewayserce enter the same values as you already did in the visual administrator
    8.     In Tab MDMP & Unicode select the type of system you have Unicode or Non-unicode
    9.     Save your settings and test the connection everything should work properly
    Step 3: Register your RFC connection for uploading components
    Start transaction sm30 and enter MEMGMT_J2EE_DEST as table name.
    Under RFC Destination enter the RFC you created for accessing EJB and enter a short description.
    Step 4: R/3 configuration to call transactions via Web GUI
    Following parameters has to be configured within an R/3 system to enable Web GUI calls:
    1. There are three port parameters in instance profile:
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP, PORT=50026, TIMEOUT=900
    icm/server_port_1 = PROT=HTTPS, PORT=1443, TIMEOUT=900
    icm/server_port_2 = PROT=SMTP, PORT=25026, TIMEOUT=900
    2. To use SSL the following four parameters are necessary:
    ssl/ssl_lib = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/
(eg. libsapcrypto.so)
    sec/libsapsecu = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/
    ssf/ssfapi_lib = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/
    ssf/name = SAPSECULIB

  • Jndi problem

    Hi,
    I have to write a simple application that uses jndi to get a jdbc connection.
    I'll try to explain step by step everything what I did. I used Tomcat 5.5.12, SQL Server 2000.
    1. I created a simple web app "jndi" and next I put the jdbc lib to the WEB-INF/lib
    2. I added
    <Context docBase="jndi" path="/jndi" reloadable="true" source="org.eclipse.jst.j2ee.server:jndi">
    <Resource name="jndi/cimmarron_com" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    maxActive="100" maxIdle="30" maxWait="10000" username="xxx" password="xxx"
    driverClassName="com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"
    url="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;databaseName=db1;password=hib1"/>
    </Context>
    to server.xml . The preceding xml code is between <host> tag
    3. My web.xml file in WEB-INF/ looks:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <web-app id="WebApp_ID" version="2.4" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlnssi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd">

    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    </web-app>
    4. At the end, I wrote the simple Main.java :
    package test;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import javax.sql.DataSource;
    public class Main {
    * @param args
    public static void main(String[] args) throws SQLException,NamingException{
    Context ctx = new InitialContext();
    DataSource source = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/cimarron_com");
    Connection conn = source.getConnection();
    Problems:
    I've got the exception like this:
    Exception in thread "main" javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial

    and I have web.xml warning "CHKJ4019W: Invalid res-sharing-scope; valid values are "Shareable" or "Unshareable"
    I really don't know where is the problem, I've looked for helping in google for 2 days and I still don't know

    Tourang,
    I have only two suggestions for you (but no answers -- sorry).
    1. Try the JDeveloper and ADF forum.
    2. For your information, "JDeveloper" has an embedded OC4J server. Are you deploying to a different OC4J (_not_ the embedded one) and trying to run your application from the embedded one?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Resource-env-ref

    Hi,
              in a servlet's war.xml I define a resource-env reference. But how do I
              specify that in the assiciated weblogic.xml?
              web.xml:
              <resource-env-ref>
                   <resource-env-ref-name>jms/EventTopic</resource-env-ref-name>
                   <resource-env-ref-type>javax.jms.Topic</resource-env-ref-type>
              </resource-env-ref>
              the dtd for weblogic.xml
              (http://www.bea.com/servers/wls610/dtd/weblogic-web-jar.dtd) only
              defines resource reference and ejb reference.
              <!ELEMENT reference-descriptor (resource-description*,
              ejb-reference-description*)>
              <!ELEMENT resource-description (res-ref-name, jndi-name)>
              <!ELEMENT ejb-reference-description (ejb-ref-name, jndi-name)>
              while the dtd for web.xml (http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd) also
              defines resource-env-ref, resource-ref, env-entry, ejb-ref, ejb-local-ref:
              <!ELEMENT web-app (icon?, display-name?, description?, distributable?,
              context-param*, filter*, filter-mapping*, listener*, servlet*,
              servlet-mapping*, session-config?, mime-mapping*, welcome-file-list?,
              error-page*, taglib*, resource-env-ref*, resource-ref*,
              security-constraint*, login-config?, security-role*, env-entry*,
              ejb-ref*, ejb-local-ref*)>
              Having said that I just read the servlet-spec (2.3 pfd2, page 68), where
              only env-entry, ejb-ref and resource-ref are mentioned! weired ...
              "The env-entry element contains information to set up basic environment
              entry names relative to the java:comp/env context, the expected Java
              type of the environment entry value (the type of object returned from
              the JNDI lookup method), and an optional environment entry value. The
              ejb-ref element contains the information needed to allow a servlet to
              locate the home interfaces of a enter-prise bean. The resource-ref
              element contains the information needed to set up a resource factory."
              >>>
              >>>So defining a resource-env-ref is possibly not possible?!
              >>>Why are they then defined in the dtd?
              >>>
              For the log: my code is:
              Context myNamingContext = new javax.naming.InitialContext();
              System.out.println("NamingContext: "+myNamingContext);
              System.out.println("Event Topic" +
              myNamingContext.lookup("java:comp/env/jms/EventTopic").toString());
              and the Exception is:

              comp/env/jms/EventTopic/ Resolved: 'comp/env/jms'

    the quotes from "more servlets and java server pages":
    The resource-env-ref element declares an administered object associated with a resource. It
    consists of an optional description element, a resource-env-ref-name element (a JNDI name

    connection-factory reference name), a res-type element (the fully qualified class name of the
    factory type), a res-auth element (the type of authentication used Application or
    Container), and an optional res-sharing-scope element (a specification of the shareability of

  • JCO monitor creation error

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to configure the Mobile administrator. For this I've followed all the steps in the SAP library regarding this.
    But, when I try to activate the two JCO monitors: ME_MONITORS_MODELDATA_DEST and ME_MONITORS_METADATA_DEST, I simply can't do it.
    The system dosn't give any error message but although I try to create them and follow all the screens, at the end the status of both of them remains in red (not created).
    What could be the error??
    Thank you!!
    Best Regards,

    Thank you!!
    With this guide I managed to start the JCO monitors succesfully. However, there is a step that this guide does not include to correctly configure the Mobile administrator and is the JRA configuration.
    After all I configurated correctly the Mobile Administrator.
    Thanks again.
    Best regards,

  • Configurations in nonglobal zones using JET

    Hello all,
    I'm trying to execute a script in a nonglobal zone using JET/jumpstart.
    i have custom_scripts working in the global zone using the JET templates, but can't seem to get anything working in the nonglobal zone.
    the script is a simple wget a file from a local server.
    any suggestions?
    thanks, Don

    Hi Bob
    Let /usr be rw across all zones :
    add fs
    set dir=/usr
    set special=/usr
    add options rw
    set type=lofs
    end
    Create a FS in the global zone - /cots to house all the 3rd party software and then
    add fs
    set dir=/cots
    set special=/cots
    set type=lofs
    add options rw
    add options nodevices
    end
    for every zone that you create. This should take care of your upgrades at one place but to be percolated to all zones. Hope this is what you are looking for.

  • XMII v12 - JRA Action Blocks Question

    We are implementing v12 (AIX) and require ECC server load balancing for our production environment. Production environment we have multiple xMII servers and multiple ECC servers. (our development environment is standalone, single xMII server, single ECC server). I understand that the JRA action blocks should be used for ECC load balancing instead of the JCO action blocks.
    Could not find any information concerning the 3 choices available in the JRA Start Session action block. We do not know which deployed adapter to use.
    1. nonGlobalTx/eis
    2. shareable/eis
    3. unshareable/eis
    From a previous post, found the following link, but did not go into detail on the 3 adapter choices:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/6f/1bd5caa85b11d6b28500508b5d5211/content.htm

    Here's what it was supposed to say...
    David,
    Just for completeness on the earlier part of the thread here are the connection definitions:
    "Non-shareable" - means that inside a transaction 2 or more physical connections will be created if applications wants to acquire 2 or more connections from one resource adapter. Each connection which is acquired from application will use separate physical connection.
    "Shareable" -   means that inside a transaction 1 physical connection will be created even if the applications wants to acquire 2 or more connections from one resource adapter. All connections that are returned to the application will share one physical connection. This is the default configuration.
    Non-global TX - connections which are acquired from connection factory with this setting will not be enlisted into distributed(JTA) transactions. This is SAP specific setting.
    Global TX - Connections are enlisted into transaction. This is the default/standard configuration.
    As for SSO, I may have misspoken earlier about this still trying to find a good answer for you.  In the mean time here's the best that I can do:
    Application authorization - application is responsible to provide user/password during get connection request. Or  user/password is specified into resource adapter properties. This is the default configuration in SAP.
    Container authorization - means that server is responsible to provide user/psw based on specific configuration which is done on the server.  For example SSO is done with container authorization.
    The Container Authorization has a bunch of SAP Help ([http://help.sap.com|http://help.sap.com]) on the security configuration here:
    ([https://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/current/jr/index.html|https://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/current/jr/index.html])
    I will continue to follow-up on this but if you keep me updated on your progress it will help me along as well.

  • Error during login Alert-Configuration

    Hi,
    I get following error when I try to login alert-configuration.
    SO does anybody know this error and has a solution?
    Thanks.
    Regards
    Stefan
    Runtime Error          STRING_BAD_REF
    Date and Time          29.09.2006 08:58:00
    ShrtText
    A string reference with destroyed context was destroyed.
    What happened?
    Error in ABAP application program.
    The current ABAP program "CL_BSP_MODEL==================CP" had to be
    terminated because one of the
    statements could not be executed.
    This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
    What can you do?
    Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
    and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
    To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
    You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
    termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
    is especially useful if you want to keep a particular message.
    Error analysis
    The system discovered an invalid value while accessing a string
    reference:
    String reference (hexadecimal): 1900000002000000
    String header ID: 2
    String header ID (hex): 00000002
    Check value (hex): 000000
    Shared objects lock flag: 0
    Check value (hexadecimal): 19
    The check value should be hexadecimal "ED".
    This is not the case.
    How to correct the error
    The contents of the string value were probably overwritten in the
    memory of the ABAP application program.
    Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.

  • Problems encountered while Configuring  IBM webshere5.0

    Hi All,
    I'm the process of Configuring the IBM websphere 5.0. I'm getting the following annoying error for quite sometime. Can anybody please help?
    I have installed a standalone Webapplication and mapped the right. JDBC resources. My team uses SQL server 7.0 and Im's using Websphere embedded connect JDBC driver for SQL server as the driver. Every time I have changed the configuration , I have stopped the application and restarted it. Following is the error that I get when I start the application.
    "Resource reference " DATA SOURCE NAME" could not be located, so default values of the following are used: [Resource-ref settings]
    res-auth: 1 (APPLICATION)
    res-isolation-level: 0 (TRANSACTION_NONE)
    res-sharing-scope: true (SHAREABLE)
    res-resolution-control: 999 (undefined) "
    What does this mean? Is there a problem in the configuration?
    My next question is , Is there a way to associate an applciation with a JDBC resource?
    thanks

    This is documentation from IBM's website. I got only a cached copy from google, but could not find the real copy.
    Also this other link might help you.

    Answer for your second question.
    Datasources are setup at server level. In WebSphere it is shared between applications at the node, cell or server level.
    But you do configure your applications to use the datasource. So the answer is that there is a way to associate an application with a JDBC resource.
    You have to define your JDBC resource references in the application descriptor and match these to the datasources you have defined in WebSphere.

    The resources, data access section should be of some help.

    Information for your config error.
    If a J2EE 1.3 EJB project contains Container Managed Persistence (CMP) beans, then that project must be configured to use only WebSphere Application Server Version 5 data sources, even if some or all of the CMPs are only EJB 1.1 beans.
    In a J2EE 1.2 application (EAR), all JDBC applications, or Servlets 2.2, or EJB (must be 1.x) beans must use WebSphere Application Server Version 4 data sources.
    In a J2EE 1.3 application, all EJB 1.1 Modules (which can only contain EJB 1.x beans) must use WebSphere Application Server Version 4 data sources.
    In a J2EE 1.3 application, all JDBC applications, or Servlet 2.3, or EJB 2.0 Modules (which may have CMP version 2.0 and/or 1.x) must use WebSphere Application Server Version 5 data sources.
    If you incorrectly configure an WebSphere Application Server Version 4 data source, then at runtime there is no "Resource Reference" for this data source (required by the J2EE 1.3 container) and you will get the runtime error:
    68c343ee ConnectionFac W J2CA0122I: Resource reference jdbc/YourBank could not
    be located, so default values of the following are used: [Resource-ref
    settings] res-auth:1 (APPLICATION), res-isolation-level:0 (TRANSACTION_NONE),
    res-sharing-scope:false (UNSHAREABLE), res-resolution-control:999 (undefined).

  • Error adding buffer entry when using Asynchronous mode of JRA and JCO call

    Enviroment: XMII 12.1.4 / CE EhP1 SP03
    When I using SAP JRA Function Call or SAP JCO Funciton Call in transaction, it works well when I choose 'Process Type' as 'Synchronous processing' in 'Data Buffering Configuration' tab. But when I use 'Asynchronouse processing' it doesn't work.
    I check the Netweaver logs, there some logs like following:
    Error adding buffer entry (com.sap.xmii.dataqueue.DataBufferManager)
    Couldn't add buffer entry (com.sap.xmii.dataqueue.DataBufferManager)
    ManagedConnectionImpl.dissociateConnections(), dissociation of a non-cci transaction, H1, C1(com.sap.mw.jco.jra)
    how could I solve this problem?

    Solved after deploy 12.1 SP05 (xMII 12.1.5 build 91)

  • Configuring Mysql database in EJB  xml file for JBoss

    I am using Mysql as database , How to configure JBoss to use Mysql as the database when using ejb's( session beans)
    My ejb-jar.xml is as follows
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    1) My doubts are
    a). there is a username and password to access the database,
    I am mentioning only the database namein the xml file like-
    jdbc/rfptrack. So where should the username and password be
    mentioned or declared.
    b). The server showed the following error when it was started.
    Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Table 'test.jms_messages' doesn't exist

    status: Deployment FAILED reason: Verification of Enterprise Beans failed, see above for error messages.
    state: FAILED
    the server is showing that table "test:" does not exist but I am using rfptrack as the database and not test. how can I configure the server for it.
    PLEASE GO THROUGH THE EJB-JAR.XML FILE AND THE SERVER ERRORS GIVEN ABOVE AND GIVE SUGGESTIONS TO RECTIFY MY ERRORS.

    Hi Svend,
    Please share the xml file.
    I am able to acheive the result by doing the above changes.
    Thanks,

    replace with case sensitive  <SendDataOnNodes>false</SendDataOnNodes

  • Info on SAP JRA data buffering

    Hello,
    I'd need help on data buffering used with JRA remote function calls.
    This is what is written in the documentation.
    ●      DaysRetention
    The number of days the system keeps the data buffer entry
    ●      MaxRetryCount
    The maximum number of times you can resubmit requests
    ●      RetryInterval
    The number of milliseconds the system waits before resubmitting the query or action request. The scheduler adds one minute to this time.
    I'm wondering how to correctly populate these 3 values. It's not clear to me.
    Is the data buffering activated only if the communication via RFC is unavailable?
    If I'd like MII to repeat the RFC call for maximum ten times every 5 minutes, how can I configure the data buffering accordingly?

    Mauro,
    Data buffering is for errors in communication as stated in the first sentence under the Use heading in the help. You are interested in the MaxRetryCount and RetryInterval parameters. I am not sure if your situation calls for changing the DaysRetention parameter, the default is 7 days.
    So...
    MaxRetryCount = 10
    RetryInterval = 5 min (5 * 60* 1000) = 300,000 ms
    Or if the Scheduler's extra minute throws you off, use 4601000 = 240,000 ms
    Regards,
    Kevin
