JRE 1.4.2_07 making IE craching

Hi there !
I have a problem with Internet Explorer crashing when using the JRE 1.4.2_07.
History :
One of my application was previously running correctly, having on my PC both JRE 1.4.2_05 and 1.4.2_06 installed on it.
I've upgraded to JRE1.4.2_07 (05 and 06 removed from my OC from the Control Panel with ADD/Remove Programs), and now whenever the application into IE is calling Java, IE window is just disappearing ?!?
I've tried un-installing 07 to reinstall 06 ... same problem
I've tried un-installing 06 to reinstall 05 ... same problem.
So it seems like the 07 installation corrupted something.
One thing to note.
IE is always crashing when the "Show Java Console" is disabled.
When enabling the Java Console, then the application is launched correctly but with errors coming in the console.
I've tried Mozilla, and it is working there, although the Java console is always showed up (With no errors coming in there) - I don't know how to disable the Java console with Mozilla ...
Any idea on how I can solve that problem with IE crashing when Java console if off ?
Many Thanks !
P.S. : Using Windows 2000 Pro.

I'm sorry if I didn't explain myself correctly. I am
the administrator and have full administrative
priveleges on the development PC I am packaging on. I
am trying to setup a package deployable by Novadigm
Radia using the msi and 1033.mst extracted from the
JRE setup exe. If I get Radia to deploy the JRE to
the user I used for packaging then this works fine.
If I try a different user, then the web based app
doesn't recognise that there is a JRE installed and
tries to download one from Sun.
Cheers, PaulAnd is that "different user" one without administrative privileges? If so, I suspect that the JRE install isn't able to make the needed Registry entries, as was noted.

  • JRE 1.4.2_07 only works for the installer user

    I installed JRE 1.4.2_07 today for a web based app my company uses on my development XPPro PC. The web based app launches the JRE fine and works fully, when logged in as the user who I installed the JRE under.
    If I logon as another user and try to access the web based system, it suggests that I do not have the JRE installed and tries to download an on-line download/install from the sun website.
    As I've packaged the JRE to be installed by our software deployment tool (Novadigm Radia), I need to know what components of the install I need to include in a user package (I.e. user specific components), so this can be deployed to every user allowing the JRE to work.
    I have already tried copying the files in the user's profile under: C:\Documents and Settings\<UserID>\Application Data\Sun to my new user's profile and this alone does not appear to solve the problem.
    Any ideas what I'm missing? Could the web based app look in the user Registry settings maybe?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Query regarding j2se tag in JNLP file for JRE 1.4.2_07

    Hi,
    Can the j2se tag take different servlet link other than "http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se" in the href field.
    eg: <j2se initial-heap-size="64m" max-heap-size="512m" version="1.5+" href="http://localhost:8080/j2se"/>
    Since i am planning to download latest JRE from the sun site and place it my local server so that download time can be reduced for other users.
    Thanks in advance
    Bharath

    There is no utility that I'm aware of. The installer is InstallAnywhere from Zerog, and it uses the MS installer to actually do the install. So you can look at either Zerog or MS for one.
    Sun's Java 5 version has deployment information, including silent install options, at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/index.html
    I don't know if that exists for your version.

  • Auto upgrade jre and auto retain java.policy

    Hello,
    I need to automatically update clients with jre 1.4.2_07 and also retain the existing java.policy from the previous version (1.4.2_04). I have the jre installation kicking off correctly (with IE and XP) using
    codebase = "http://myserver/jinstall-1_4_2_07-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,4,2,70"
    but I also need to use my existing java.policy before the rest of the applet loads.
    I am not familiar with cab files, but is it possible to add a subsequent step to the jre install which would replace the generic java.policy with my specific java.policy? or any other way ??
    Thanks, Sari

  • JRE 1.4.1 causes windows 98 to hang

    I just installed the latest JRE 1.4.1, now every time I use the one Java program I have my computer hangs. Sometimes I can open it and then close before the hang - then I get a ddhelp.exe is not responding error message. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling all sorts of things without success. Only solution that works is to reduce the graphics hardware acceleration to the "basic" setting, but then other software I have that has heavy graphics requirements does not work.
    Any idea what is wrong?
    I run windows 98SE, Radeon7500 graphics card, AMD1700 processor. May also have a related problem - the windows update site keeps telling me to install a Java VM update dated March 4 that has already been installed so maybe something is not registered properly but then I have reinstalled most things luding this update) without success.

    JRE 1.4.2_07 crashed Windows XP-SP2, with a graphics device driver operating ATI Radeon 9800 XT (Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll).
    Further tech details below this message.
    The Sun Java web sites suggested the next java version upgrade to fix the crash problem.
    This forum provided the solution that is very applicable to the latest Windows XP, SP2 as with the Windows 98 SE problem: Conflict with DirectX. The JRE1.5 Contol Panel was a "ghost screen" until I the following process worked to display the window contents:
    "After spending the last few hours trawling through forums and newsgroups I noticed a lot of debate about how a certain Windows graphics software called DirectX may be <in conflict> with the JDK/JRE."
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. Type dxdiag, and then click OK
    (Microsoft Article ID : 157730
    Last Review : September 29, 2004
    Revision : 5.1 )
    (or try- Open the Windows help and type in DirectX.)
    ( Click on 'troubleshooting DirectX'.)
    (Click on 'Open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool'.)
    Once this tool opens click on the Display tab
    and then disable 'DirectDraw Acceleration'
    and 'Direct3D Acceleration'.
    Now to resolve the "noinit" applet errors.

  • Jre acting weird

    Hi. I am having problems with my jre. I first noticed it when i could not run any applets (throught IE or as separate application through my own code). The applet just freezes up itself of IE if initiated through IE. I use jre 1.4.2_08 on windows 2000 (on a dell precision 220).
    I havem ade sure the jre stuff is enabled through the browser (ths stuff sun's site says). I tried enabling it through the control panel too.sure enough the java coffee cup is there, but i just can't get the console to open up regardless of how many times i click on it. so i think this 'not opening' may give a good clue to what the problem is to some experienced guys out there. I can't see the applet at
    www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml so something aure is wrong with my jre but can't figure out what. I had jre 1.4.2_07 before which i removed and installed 1.4.2_08 but the problem persists.
    Hope someone can help me out.
    Thanks,
    Vin

    I think I may have the same problem, I posted it earlier.

  • JRE 1.5.0_02 Hang on Windows XP

    Ok heres the story.
    Fresh install of windows xp professional with service pack 2. Run windows update, everything gets updated. Attempt to install Java VM, installed using jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe from www.java.com, also tried downloading from java.sun.com. Installation goes fine, until its finishing setup, hangs when the progress bar gets to 99%. a process called javaw.exe, one of the runtime files i presume, is using 0% cpu time, but has hung. Won't even go away if i kill the process, just doesn't do anything. Setup hangs due to this process being hanged, so have to reboot PC.
    My question, whats wrong here? BTW i have tried redownloading and reinstalling windows about 10 times so far. It happens EVERY TIME. I have also tried installing JRE 1.4.2_07 and using that to UPDATE the JRE. Same thing happens.

  • Function Key not work when using jre1.5

    My application was based on JDK1.3 to develop and JRE 1.3 is using in the client side.
    In the application, function keys are the shortcut and it is working fine based on the above setting.
    Since JRE 1.5 is encouraged to be used in the future, we try to use it to run our application. But we find that all function keys are not working.

    The supported Software in iPlanet's Portal Server is JDK/JRE 1.2.2_07 and JDK 1.2.2_09(in SP4). Starting with JDK1.3.1_01, applets are handled somewhat differently. Enable Java and look at the error messages in Java Console to find why the Netlet is not loading in JDK1.3.1_02. The issue might be with two JRE's or with your cache setting. Hope this helps you.

    Hi Fred,
    have a look at this discussion that solved exactly the same problem as yours: Re: Web AS J2E instance 0 Installation problem.
    The solution most probably will be that you change the value of the jstartup/trimming_properties property in your instance profile from "standard" to "off".

  • Loading Java Applet Failed in CRM 2007 Web Client Marketing

    We have recently upgraded our CRM 4.0 sp6 system to CRM 2007.  As part of this upgrade we configured the SAP Best Practice Building Blocks.  Logging on to the webclient using the user MKT_MAN (assigned business role BP_MKT_MAN) we get an error when trying to run the Marketing Calendar.  the error we get is that "Loading Java Applet Failed" the specific applet in question is: Applet com.sap.crm.mkt.calendar.applet.MktCalendar notinited
    We have implemented the following SAP notes to try and rectify the issue but with no success:
    Note 1177590 - Version 2.0 of Marketing Calendar java applet
    Note 1237477 - Marketing Calendar is not displayed, Tensegrity Library
    Any ideas as to what can resolve this issue
    Thanks in advance
    Eddie

    Hi Eddie
    I have exactly the same problem, using IE 6.0 & JRE 1.4.2_07.
    What I have found is that users in my company with the same configuration on their machines, same settings as above can load the Marketing Calendar without issue.
    Have loaded the same notes as yourself already.
    I have managed to get it to working by switching off my proxy settings entirely. This is fine for testing but of no use for go live.
    I have also found that when it does finally load successfully it is incredibly slow in comparison to other functionality within the WEB UI.
    Thus far I have logged an OSS Message regarding this matter, could I recommend you do the same, this should encourage SAP that the issue is not isolated.
    Good Luck

  • Java Version for MII 12.1

    What is the highest version of Java that can be used by end users for MII UI's?

    Hi Brad,
    Good question
    SAP xMII 11.5
    One of the key benefits of the SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) is its ultra-thin client architecture that requires zero client administration.  SAP xMII clients require a standard Web browser only which minimizes installation and management.  No SAP xMII software needs to be installed on any of the client systems.  Setup and installation of SAP xMII is performed entirely on your Web server.  The client browser does require that a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) plug-in to be installed in order to use the full set of user interface objects.  The supported JRE for a client machine is version 1.4.2 from Sun Microsystems, Inc.® (the latest release of 1.4.2 is recommended for the client).
    Note:  It is not recommended that the server application be installed on a server with a JSDK/JRE version greater than 1.4.2_07.

    I would also like to know everyone's opinion on this subject. I like to use the features of SAP MII to develop UI´s, so this information is very important to us.

    Aslam-o-Alaikum
    I am using JDk 1.5.0_0.8 on Windows Vista and i am having problem in retreiving correct Time zone. it always returns "Greenwich Mean Time" when i run
    "System.out.println(TimeZone.getDefault().getDisplayName());"
    on vista where as it returns "GMT+05:00" on Windows Xp and all previous versions. Because of this problem i am unable to retrieve current date correctly in Vista where as the same code runs fine in Windows XP. Please help!!!!!!!!!

    I am having a similar problem with JRE 1.4.2_07 and Windows Server 2008. The time zone returned is ALWAYS GMT for the default time. I can work around this by explicitely setting the time zone in my code, but my customer would like a real fix. TZUPDATER seems to have no effect. Any ideas?

    <jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="http://server1/someapp" href="someapp.jnlp">
    <information>
    <title>Some App</title>
    <vendor>Sun Microsystems, Inc.</vendor>
    <offline-allowed/>
    </information>
    <resources>
    <jar href="app1.jar"/>
    <j2se version="1.4.2*" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se"/>
    </resources>
    <application-desc main-class="myapp"/>
    </jnlp>
    -> while starting the app, i notice that, i guess the 1.5 java webstart engine handles this app (it seems to be 1.5 stuff when i look at the layout of the dialog). BUT (!) the only traffic passing my firewall is that of the following application: .../jre1.4.2_07/bin/javaw.exe. So, th question is: "what "java web start - version" (*) is actually running my code ??
    (*) i'm not talking about the JRE. That should be 1.4.2_07, since i asked, in the jnlp, for my code to run in a 1.4.2* JRE. But there must be some javaws active, f.i. for examining my app jars on the webserver.
    P.S. when i change the <j2se version ...> into 1.5+, the request i intercept then is actually coming from jre1.5.0_05/bin/javaw.exe (which i expected in the first place).
    help.

    Yes - in this case you run webstart 1.5.0 with jre 1.4.7
    the jnlp mime type is setup by the windows installer when installing a jre that is the latest on the system. (it actually points to <windows dir>/system32/javaws.exe, which is set up as the latest version installed)

  • URLConnection getOutputStream hangs

    Hi,
    I have an application using applet to servlet communication,the https communication is established by URLConnection.However after certain time of communication the applet just hangs at getOutputStream .without any error or exception.
    The environment is JRE 1.4.2_07 and Tomcat with SSL enabled.I spent lot of time tracking this bug but could not find any answer.Any help or ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I want to bring to your notice that getOutputStream() hangs or blocks only for https but works fine with http,also not during start of applet but after changing the applet state.I assume it may not be the problem from URLConnection may be the applet looses the https authentication during state change and hangs in connect or getOutputStream().we are considering to move to HttpClient but not sure if its going to resolve this problem.Any ideas ar appreciated.
    many thanks.
