Jre 1.4.2 for Linux AS 4

Hello,
I am about installing the JRE 1.4.2 for Lunix AS 4. The purpose is using in DMI, datatel. I am not sure what file needs to be install?
j2re-1_4_2_12-linux-i586-rpm.bin or j2re-1_4_2_12-linux-i586.bin?
Please share with me if you have any experience about two kinds. Thanks you so much.

Hi,
can anyone provide jre or jdk 1.4.2_04 for linux, as the files downloaded from official sun.com are corrupted, every time we run them, shows the error code "+417", dont know what happened.Contact Sun technical support, they should be able to help.
the reason why we need jre because trying to access EBS 11i from firefox under linux client. we cant change jre configuration on the EBS server side, poor me.Linux is not supported as a client tier, so do not expect this to work properly. Instead, refer to the following document for the supported OS clients and browsers.

Are you using Mozilla Firefox to access the console or Internet explorer ?
If its INternet explorer then please follow this :- +
    Installing TightVNC for Non-Linux Users
After Oracle VM Manager is installed, install the TightVNC-Java applet for non-Linux users to access virtual machines. Download the latest version from: http://oss.oracle.com/oraclevm/manager/RPMS/.
To set up the TightVNC-Java applet:
    Install it using the command:

version refers to the version of the TightVNC-Java applet. For example:
    # rpm -ivh tightvnc-java-1.3.9-3.noarch.rpm
This should work out for you, try it in INternet explorer first, then you will know if it worked.
Make sure u restart after installation of the RPM

    Hi,
What you need to do is:
    cat ALUI_Interaction_MP1 | \
    sed "s/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/" > \
    ALUI_Interaction_MP1_sed
This command will get sed to create a new file that has removed the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL from it. Thus you can run the file and it shouldnt give you any errors.
    Thanks.

  • JRE install help needed with linux newbie

I recently tried installing the latest JRE for Linux AMD64, following all the guidelines listed in the install instructions. However, as I am completely new to the world of Linux, I don't know if anything needs to be done beyond the install guide in order to have the JRE up and running. I have tried setting up Open Office 2 to recognise the new JRE, but have had no luck. I don't know if this is a case of me not knowing the correct directory to give in Open Office, or whether I have missed something in the Install/Configuration.
In case you need to know, the installation unpacked to "/usr/java/jre1.5.0_06"
    Thank you,

I had a similar problem, but the error was that in /tmp the
installer was searching for the orainstall directory (all

OraInstall dir into orainstall and everything worked
