JRE 1.4 apps not launchable from JREs 6u15-6u17

As noted in a few bug entries - http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6880342 and http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6869244 - JRE6u15 introduced a regression where Java Web Start could no longer launch apps in JRE 1.4.
Bug 6880342 has been closed as a duplicate of bug 6869244, which is fine.
But 6869244, which originally said it would be fixed in 6u18, now says "11-Closed, Unverified, bug" and allows no votes. This doesn't make sense, as the problem is demonstrably true with a minimum of effort.
Sun has effectively disabled support for JRE 1.4 apps in Java Web Start by closing this bug. And for users of JRE 1.4 Java Web Start apps, it basically prevents them from ever updating their PCs beyond JRE 6u14.
If Sun is going to disable JRE 1.4 apps, it should at least notify its users of this fact, and expect that many people will have to stop receiving JRE 6 updates.

If you have a condition that appears to be a bug, and you also have code that can repeatably demonstrate the problem, the you should create a new bug report. Posting a complaint here does nothing.

Apps not migrated from iPad 2 to new iPad

I just got the new iPad. I am using an iPad 2 already. How do I migrate my apps and data from the iPad 2 to the new iPad?
Here's what I tried last night and the results:
1) Connect the iPad 2 to my MacBook Pro.
2) Wait for complete sync and backup to finish
3) Eject iPad 2 and turn off.
4) Start new iPad and during configuration process, connect to MacBook via USB to restore from backup when prompted
5) Wait 2-3 hours
6) Check new iPad for results. Become bitter disappointed to find the following:
2285 out of 2384 songs transferred. Question 1) How do I figure out what is missing? I don't like losing 99 songs!
8 out 81 videos transferred. When I go into the "Video" app, there are 0 files. I am not sure how Apple is counting 8. Question 2) I can't find a "videos" heading in iTunes. These might be on another computer. If I find the video files, how do I add them back in iTunes and where will they show up in iTunes after I re-add them?
728 out of 728 photos transferred. I am grateful something went smoothly! Why aren't the rest this easy!
0 out 509 apps transferred. Ouch! This hurts! So I checked my settings on the iPad 2 in iTunes. On the Apps tab, the "Sync Apps" box is unchecked. Don't ask me why. When I check the box, I get a scary message "Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library." Question 3) How do I get my apps and their data from the iPad 2 to the new iPad without losing anything?
I got burned horribly with iCloud losing my data. After that I wasn't sure I'd ever buy another Apple product. After a LOT of trial and error, I was able to recover my data from iCloud, so here I go again. Why can't this be simple?!!! Thanks in advance for any help!

Are the iPads the same size (16GB, 32, 64GB)?
If you are using iCloud, on the iPad 2 go to Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Backup Now
After the iPad 2 finishes backup, you can restore your new iPad with your latest iCloud backup, make sure you are using the same Apple ID on both devices.

Apps not downloading from Icloud backup to my iphone 4s

I had to get a replcement Iphone 4s and the apps will not copy from Icloud or from Itunes they are stuck on "waiting" I can not seem to get them to start loading again.

It only installs 1 at a time. They all will say waiting except for 1, that should say loading. You don't see that?

My son just got a new iPhone 4S some of his apps are not loading from his cloud storage.

That is not the way to get Apps, they can only be downloaded from the App store.
Apps from a DVD will not be related to your iTunes account and therefore will not be transferred to your iPad.
The only way to install Apps on to an iPad is to download them from the iTunes Store.

Apps not transferring from iTunes to iPod

I tried to find a thread about this but couldn't so here goes:
I just bought an iPhone and have found a bunch of apps that i downloaded on my computer's iTunes.
But when I sync my iPhone the apps are not transferred onto the phone. I tried downloading some of them directly from the phone and a message telling me that I already downloaded this app shows up, I can then get it again, but the idea was that I would find them on my mac, and then transfer them to the phone.
There is no error message during syncing, the apps just don't show up.

App not transferring from itunes to iPod

Hi,
I have downloaded app in my computer, since size was more than 500MB.
Now when i try to update or sync my app from itunes to iPod touch 5th generation, it not working.
It shows determining apps to sync and stops immediately.
I have disabled restrictions, resetted my ipod and tried to drag and drop.
Its not working.
Please help me.

Apps not loading from iTunes to iPod Touch

I recently purchased two games. They show up in my iTunes purchases and apps, at one point they claimed to be downloading, but I cannot locate them on my iPod Touch.
I'm leaving for vacation Friday and would like to get this figured out. Any help appreciated.

Why have my apps not restored from itunes backup?

I just got a new phone from the apple store and had backed up my old phone on itunes on my laptop. I restored the new phone from the back up on itunes and it has restored my contacts and text messages etc but has not restored any of my purchased apps?? Can anyone help?

WHen you click on file on the upper left hand corner and choose device, there will be 4 option, sync, transfer purchase, back up and restore from back up. You can always download again your purchase from the apple id you used to purchase the apps if you forget 1 step

App not installing from the Mac App store

Trying to install PaintCode 2 and it downloads then says installing and finishes saying open. When I Click open nothing happens.
The app doesn't appear in the Applications folder.
App Requirements:
OS X 10.8 or higher, 64bit processor
My Machine specs:
OS X Yosimite
MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010)
1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Any help would be appreciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Health app not reading from any other apps. iOS 8.1

Using iPhone 6+ and iOS 8.1. I use MapMyRun, MyFitnessPal and Lark. Lark pulls activity from phone when I walk around with it in my pocket but I'm not going to run with the thing. I run with a Garmin Forerunner, log my workouts on MapMyRun and they show up fine on my iPhone app version but they don't push to the Health app. I have Health's source settings all "on" and allowing read and write permissions but there isn't any reading or writing happening. What gives?

Apps not installing from iTunes

iPad 3 - iOS version 7.1.2
I have a problem with my iPad. I have just recently restored it to factory settings, and the apps did not go on. I decided to go onto my computer and transfer the apps that way. Whenever I click the install button next to the app I want and click apply, it begins to go on it loads for the time needed for it to load and then it goes gray transparent and I cannot open it. Whenever I click it to open it just says 'Installing' and doesn't progress, there is no timer just the transparent grey app which is useless. This happens with every app I have tried. Any help would be appreciated.

New photo app not downloading from iCloud

For some reason mid way through the month my photos in my photo stream stopped syncing to my Mac Book Pro since i installed the new photo app. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

Lots of issues about this one! I have uploaded 227 a whole week. Partly due to local broadband speeds and I suspect pressure on servers in USA. It sees the whole world is uploading at once - perhaps because Apple launched photos!
The advice I got from Apple was just to wait a couple of weeks for things to settle down.
Keep turning off the upload each day if it affects broadband speeds.
To address your specific question I thought mine had also stuck as nothing appeared to happen for days - then a few were uploaded.

Old versions of Apps not removed from iTunes

Hello All,
In iTunes I have 60 Apps on the Apps page.
In my User Folder/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications, I have 77 Applications, some named 1 2 3 etc. after the App Name.
Is it safe to remove the original, and older versions with a number added to the name?
Looking at the date in Finder, the newest App appears to be the one with the highest number added to the name.
Can I remove the original App and then remove the number from the name of the latest version, then remove the other numbered versions of the App?
Why doesn't iTunes remove the old version when updating the App?

Yes, you can safely delete the older versions (the lower numbers). Actually, iTunes now does delete the old versions (that was fixed in iTunes 8.0.1), and new apps are now named with their version number (e.g. AirSharing 1.0.3.ipa). But, that change only applies to apps downloaded/updated after Apple fixed that issue, so you must clean out the old ones manually.

Apps not transfering from computer

My battery was draining very quickly and apparenly I had emails accts that did not even know was there so ATT reset phone. So now my appts are on computer and can not seem to transfer back to phone. How can I get them back over. Tried to sync and not working.
