JRE 6.0 update 1 for Solaris 10 sparc 64 bit

Will jre 6.0 come out as a patch for Solaris 10 sparc? Or should I install it from the Java download site (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)? I currently have jre 5.0.11 (patches 118666-11 and 118667-11).
Thanks.....

Will jre 6.0 come out as a patch for Solaris 10
sparc? Or should I install it from the Java download
site (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)? I
currently have jre 5.0.11 (patches 118666-11 and
118667-11).Yes, it's out for 6u1, or should be out by now, as sparc (125136-01 & 125137-01)
and x86 (125138-01 & 125139-01).
You cannot patch your way from 5.0 to 6. You need to install the 6 packages, and then you can install the 6u1 patch. (or you could just install the 6u1 packages, and patch from that point onward).
As to the later question, yes, there isn't a formal JRE patch, but SUNWj6rt is essentially the runtime component of the JDK, so if you just had SUNWj6rt & SUNWj6cfg installed, you would have the equivalent of a JRE, though it still would be installed in a JDK directory. If you have just those two packages installed, then you could use 125136-01 as a JRE patch, since it will only update what installed. Oh yes, I forgot about the 64bit component to the runtime, SUNWj6rtx. If you intend on running the JRE in 64bit mode (-d64), you'd need SUNWj6rtx as well.

  • [Answered] List of patches for Solaris 10 SPARC 64 bit!

    Hi All,
Installation document for 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Solaris Operating System (SPARC 64-Bit) does not mention anything about patches required on Solaris 10 (there is a list for Solaris 8 and 9).
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15690/pre_install.htm#sthref110
Can I safely assume that the installation of Solaris 10 contains all the required patches in this case?
    Thanks,

    Hi Satish,
I did not have access to ORACLE metalink so could not able check the doc which you reffered. But Checked the ORACLE installation doc, I suppose that is the required patches for 8 and 9 which you have to make sure of on Solaris 10.
Other wise wait and see for other inputs too.

  • Oracle 10g for Solaris 9 (SPARC 64-bit) installation problem

I am trying to install Oracle Database 10g that I downloaded to my Solaris 9 (64-bit) SunBalde 100 and I got an error when it was running the Database Configuration Assistant. The error that I got is "ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified".
The machine has 768 MB memory and at least 15 GB free hard disk space. I have also followed all the steps in the installation guide and installed all the required OS patches.
    Please help.

be sure to set your environment correctly.
Sounds like your didn't set the environment variable ORACLE_SID
Check all your settings, e.g. ORACLE_HOME, PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH and ORACLE_SID and try again

  • Firefox 17.0.2 for Solaris 10 (sparc) (contrib) not available

There is a security finding on Firefox 17.0.1 (CVE-2013-0759), and we need to install Firefox 17.0.2 for Solaris 10/sparc. We have to use the 17.x series. For some reason the "ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/17.0.2esr/contrib/" directory is empty.

Has there been any additional info from Oracle as to when they might update Firefox for Solaris 10 SPARC beyond 10.0.7 ESR (''aka Patch ID #145080-12'')? I have not been able to find the referenced package for 10.0.12 ESR within MOS. Realistically, I really need 17.0.5 ESR or later -- the contributed versions are not an option due to their questionable source (''i.e., Beijing'').

  • CF9 w/ Solaris 10 (Sparc, 64-bit): Problems with mod_jrun22.so

    Hi
We're running a Solaris (Sparc) box and installed Apache 2.2.16 and ColdFusion9 on our system. When starting ColdFusion the first time, the shell script "apache_connector.sh" installs the mod_jrun22.so (must be the successor of mod_coldfusion.so) and adds the required section in the httpd.conf file just fine. (well, after fixing the script... ^^)
The problem arises when starting Apache next time:
httpd: Syntax error on line 414 of /usr/local/httpd-2.2.16/conf/httpd.conf:
    Cannot load /opt/coldfusion9/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun22.so into server:
ld.so.1: httpd: fatal: libgcc_s.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
Apparently, this module was compiled with gcc, which we didn't install on our Sun system.
Does anyone know whether there's a module available which doesn't depend on gcc libraries under Solaris?
So far we've compiled everything with Suns compiler Sun Studio 12.0. The reason behind this is that we're using CFX-tags and our shared library uses  C/C++ and embedded SQL for Oracle 11g (yes, we're old school ^^). And since Oracle 11g officially only supports Sun Studio 12.0 when using embedded SQL, we're trying to compile everything with this compiler.
Sure we could install gcc (or at least a runtime-component containing libgcc_s.so.1), but I'm wondering now whether we'll run into problems later when using our C++ library which was compiled with Sun Studio 12.0.
Could anyone shed some light on this?
    Thanks!

  • Where to obtain Update 3 for Solaris 10 x86

    Hello all,
For some reason my smpatch is broken and won't download patches. I need to locate Update 3 for Solaris 10 x86 but with all the new changes to the website I'm completely lost and can't seem to find the download link.
    Can anyone help out?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi
google "download solaris", first hit, at the bottom of the page "Looking for prior versions of Oracle Solaris?"
    Here it says
"Note 1: Previous versions of Solaris 10 are no longer necessary as the latest release includes support for all Solaris 10 supported platforms and includes important enhancements not found in earlier releases."
and "Solaris 10 10/08" (aka Update 6) is the oldest available.
Note that you now need a support contract to access all patches except for patches to the "Oracle Solaris" compiler (if installed) and to the patch system.

  • Need Sun WorkShop 6 update 2  for Solaris 8

Would it be possible to download an installation package for Sun WorkShop 6 update 2 for Solaris 8?
I have an old development project that I need to resurrect, and it requires this version of the Sun compiler.
    Thanks,
    -Ken Cooley

Object files and libraries created by WS6u2 can be linked into programs created by later versions of Sun Studio. The default template model changed in Studio 8, so you might need to add -instances=extern to CC command lines. Apart from that possibility, the only other issue I can think of would be invalid code accepted by WS6u2 that SS11 does not accept. I suggest you give Studio 11 a try, unless company policy forbids it.

  • Install newest JRE on Solaris 9 Sparc (64-bit)

Note: This message has also been posted on the JRE forum. This is the second attempt to post it here.
I would like to know the best method to replace the JRE that is installed with a Solaris 9 (SPARC) installation. A clean installation of Solaris 9 comes with JRE 1.4 and I would prefer 1.4.1 (64-bit) or newer. Sun provides self-extracting archive downloads of the latest JREs for Solaris, but I have been unsuccessful in using these. I followed the instructions at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/install-solaris.html
for doing a self-extracting installation, but this does not replace the contents of /usr/j2se with the new JRE. Additionally a pkginfo still points to the old JRE. I also read the instructions at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/install-solaris-64.html
which stated I should install the 32-bit version, and then the 64-bit version. Finally, both set of instructions mention installation from packages, yet I am unable to find the packages to download. What is the best method to remove the JRE from a Solaris installation and install a newer version of the JRE so the pkginfo is updated and the new JRE resides in /usr/j2se? Any assistance is appreciated.

  • Rwdevid for solaris 9 (sparc) / changing hd id

    Hi,
I'm searching for rwdevid. Is there a public link availabe or is the tool only available for customers with gold support?
We need the tool because we have hd's with no id so we want to set one. Or is there another solution/tool to do that?
    Thanx
    Marc

This forum is for issues with Sun Update Connection for Solaris 10 only.
We would recommend that you post your problem in the Solaris 9 Discussion forum and someone in there should be able to help you out. I've included a link to that forum below -

  • License for cross-compilation for solaris 10 sparc on Linux x86

I'd like to do cross-compilation for solaris 10 sparc on Linux x86 using gcc (for linux). To do that, I have to copy libraries (/lib/64) and includes (/usr/include) from a sparc machine to my linux machine.
The compilation will be run on about (up to) 50 Linux machines (by various developers). We also have 3 solaris-10-SPARC machines.
I wonder if Solaris license allows me to copy the includes and libs to perform compilation elsewhere.
I also checked "OTN License Agreement for Oracle Solaris", but it looks like Oracle allows for installing "the programs" on up to 3 machines, but I need it on 50.
Thanks for any suggestions or redirections to a proper place where I can get an answer.

When installing Solaris 10 01/06 on a Dell 1850 I receive an error message during the install saying "no disk found". I assume that the drive/controller is not recognized. The Dell 1850 is listed under the HCL for Solaris 10 10/06. I don't believe I can use the Solaris(TM) Device Driver for the LSI MegaRAID Adapter floppy with 1/06. I dont have any other Solaris boxes up so I cant build a jump start server. Any suggestions?
