JRE vs Jinitiator
Dear All,
While invoking Oracle forms and reports in Jinitiator for the first time, Jini software will be automatically dowloading the client PC. But, when the forms and reports are invoked from JRE, the IE is not downloading the JRE software in the client PC, we have to manually install in the client PC.
Note: the security settings in IE are same in both the case.
Regards,
Anand.
Try disabling the antivirus software on the client.

If JRE and Jinitiator are both installed and co-exist in my desktop, how can I force my IE(internet explorer) to run JRE instead of jinitiator when reading Java page? Do I need to uninstall Jinitiator first?

EBS 11i how to check if JRE or JInitiator is used for Forms.
How can I find out in EBS 11i whether application has been configured to use JRE or JInitiator when using Oracle Forms on Client's Desktop?

Hi Hussein,
I have reviewed both the documents and both documents have mentioned how to find out details about JRE/JInitiator using the Java Console on Clients Windows PC.
Is there any way to check it on the server side?
Any configuration file on the server side which will give me this details?Yes. Search the application context file for:
s_sun_plugin_ver
s_sun_plugin_type
s_sun_clsid
s_jinit_ver_dot
s_jinit_ver_comma
s_jinit_clsid

Also u can use DBUA(database upgardation assistance) tool for anyking of migration of tables from 10g to 11g
Only new added functionalities are there in 11g but the basic structure is same as 10 g.
Tell me something more about ur issue...I can also learn from it.

Oracle forms JRE Vs JInitiator
Hi,
We used Jiniator in the past but now we have moved to JRE.
At Oracle forms runtime, when using JInitiator, the username and the SID used to be visible on the top of the application.
But after we switched to JRE, the runtime is not displaying the name of the user logged in and the SID?
Any idea? Thanks in advance.
Cheers
SriAnybody knows why the username and sid are not displayed on the top at runtime?
Cheers

Hi there,
I do have 2 java based application Finacle and MIS respectively which use to run JRE and Jinitiator. The version of JRE is 6 standard and Jinitiator is 1.3.1.17. My problem is when i use to open Finacle and MIS in same IE 7 windows tab it use to crash with error C++ run time error. But when i open Finacle in 1 IE 7 window and MIS in different IE 7 window it use to work.
I searched in the forum and found that Jinitiator is obsolete so should update to JRE 7. I already did that too but still when i browse MIS it automatically used to install Jinitiator 1.3.1.17
My oracle version is 9i for MIS application. Could any one please help me regarding the issue.Hi,
Can you guy suggest me which possible files should I look into to understand why there is difference between them?
-->Formsweb.cfg.
However when I open development environment then forms are launched using Java 1.6.0_24 and there is java icon in task bar
Inorder to make Jnitiator load in your development environment instead of Sun JRE Java 1.6.0_24,please comment the below lines from formsweb.cfg

Web.show_document jre+ie problem
dear all,
i'm trying to call reports from forms, on when_button_pressed trigger, and it works fine when the report is called from JRE applet (I'm using jre instead Jinitiator) through Firefox.
But, when i call my form with Internet explorer, and click on button, another IE window is opened and got message "Enter your Single Sign-On user name and password to sign in"! [error_picture|[URL=http://img171.imageshack.us/i/ssoproblem.jpg/]]
I tried to set: IE->tools->internet options->general->tabs (on the bottom of general tab)->When a pop-up is encountered:Always open pop-ups in a new tab
and Open links from other programs in:A new tab in the current window, but still not works... :(
Here's the code I'm using on when_button_pressed trigger.

rep_url varchar2(2000);

hidden_action := hidden_action ||'&userid=' ||GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(username)||'/'||

IE: Version: 8.0.6001.18702
DB: 10.2.1...
Thx in advance,
Adnan
Edit: unfortunately, it seems that I have the same problem with firefox. Username which is necessary to logon on SSO window is portal administrator. It means that I have to somehow connect DB and AS (report server services) and allow database users to run reports via Oracle portal...

1. Make a back up of the following files:
$ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/rwservlet.properties
$ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/<report server>.conf
2. In the rwservlet.properties:
change:
#SINGLESIGNON=YES
to:

3. In the <report server>.conf:
change:

Oracle Forms loading slower with Sun JRE in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i
Hi,
After Deploying Sun JRE (Native Plug-in) for Windows Clients in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i (Note 290807.1) we find that Oracle Forms are loading slower than using Jinitiator.
Also the PDF reports are opening in a minimized fashion. Meaning the PDF reports are opening correctly in new browser window (as expected) but is minimized.
Customer is not willing to go live with Sun JRE due to these issues.
Plz advice is there is any additional configuration I need to do.
Rgds,
ThiruWhen the JRE was installed/configured on the workstations was the jar cache placed on a LAN drive instead of the local drive? We have experienced poor performance with both the JRE and Jinitiator when the Workstation Sysadmins configured the jar cache to be located on a LAN drive. Also is the size of the jar cache on the workstation sufficient to hold all of your required jar files. It could be downloading the jar files all the time.
Overall our performance with the JRE is comparible to the Jinitiator.
Sorry I have not experienced the problem that you are having with you pdf reports so I can't provide any comments on it. -
Jinitiator not Working in Windows 7
Hi All,
I recently got Windows 7 machine in my office, I tried to login to my client oracle apps 11i link through the IE 8 which comes default in Windows 7. Every time I log on to the screen and clicked any responsibility, the second window opens and asking me to install ojinit.exe (every time). Once I clicked install, some cmd line comes for few seconds and disappears, after that nothing happens. I manually installed oracle jinitiator 1.3.1.26 and still have the same problem.
Please suggest a solution.

No unfortunately it will not work, You will have to you sun JRE not jinitiator,

Forms10g+JRE: minimize IE window after logon
Dear professionals,
is there anyway to programmatically minimize internet explorer (or firefox) window after user logon to application (except manually, of course :) )? We use JRE instead Jinitiator and property separate_window=true. Since users sometimes accidentally close opened IE windows, so they close application - i would like to minimize such possibility.
Thanks in advance,
AdnanBasically there are the
htmlBeforeFormand
htmlAfterFormParameters in the formsweb.cfg where you can add additional html and also JavaScript. Just search on google how to minimize a window via JavaScript and put it in the htmlAfterForm
This will minimize the Browser window when loading your forms appliction. If you want to perform javascript on certain events (e.g. in a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED Trigger) you can do this with
web.show_documentjust search the forum here on JavaScript and take a look. I'm sure you'll find a starting point. Of course if you are having troubles or something is not clear to you do not hesitate to ask :)
cheers
P.S.: As JavaScript implementations differ between browsers I can guarantee you headaches; what workes in IExplorer won't work in Firefox and vice versa; if you are having troubles with this please add full browser versions as well as this definitely matters in this case. -
Question about different behaviour from Jinitator and JRE
Hi,
In the formsweb.cfg, if I set to to use JRE, it works fine.
However, if I change to use Jinitator, it shows the following error in the browser.
error:java.lang.VerifyError :(class:Try1/TryHint$1, method: <init> signature :(LTry1/TryHint;)V) Expecting to......
The sample it works
baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljpi.htm
baseHTMLjpi=webutiljpi.htm
After setting the below, it shows the above error.
baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljini.htm
baseHTMLjpi=webutiljini.htm
Anyone can help ?
Thanks.
IvanEvery config uses the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) -- the difference is which JRE. JInitiator ships with a v1.3 JRE, and the Java Plug-In (JPI) uses whichever JRE corresponds to the given JPI version.
You have given no information regarding which browser/version you are running, and it appears that you have not pasted the entire stacktrace, so it will be very difficult for anyone to help you. Reposting provides no additional information.

Please find solution to solve the problem...you form is running in the browser with the help of Jinitiator which is nothing but A JavaInitiator.
as your machine files located in the System32 folder of your windows directory as .DLL. are not able to communicate with the Jinitiator DLL Files being used
for the JRE.
The Form is sending the request to the internet explorer to run the object of applet ttype which is nothing but the Oracle Java Applet named as OC4J(Oracle Container for Java)
if your form is running or trying to run and hangged due to some problems and your machine got abnormal shutdown then at that time the DLL fiels communicating each other may got corrupt
due to any abmormal shutdown of your machine...
the problem is there with the Java Side...
There is no solution other then reloading the JRE and Jinitiator as per the error being thrown by your machine
