JRE1.3.1_02 and Netscape Browser

We are working with the Applet using Swing Components. Java Run time Environment version is 1.3.1 installed in Red Hat Linux .
We installed Java plugin JRE1.3.1_02 Windows version.
The applets are working fine with Internet Explorer 5.0. But with Netscape4.7 it is displaying the error
error: NoClassDefFoundError : javax/swing/JApplet
Applets with awt components are working fine.
What could be the reason? Please help.

It's working fine with both IE5.0 and Netscape 4.7 browsers once HTMLConverter1.3 was used for converting the HTML file containing the applet.

I followed the Silent Installation web page article to install JRE 1.4.1. But strangely, while creating the response file and using custom install, the screen showing IE6 and Netscape6 browser plugin default checkmarks didn't show. I then installed the JRE using the response file following the article's directions. When I opened up the JRE Plugin in the Control Panel and went to the Browsers tab, both choices were not checked. Even using the -IExplorer and -Netscape6 parameters during install didn't make them checked. How do I do a silent automated install and have these browser choices checked and browser plugins installed?

Has anyone an idea what/why goes wrong and how the problem could be solved?Try upgrading your Java Runtime plug-in within Netscape. You're using
1.4.0 and the latest Sun JRE version is 1.4.2
    (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html).
Hope this works out for you.

  • My web site has a link which automatically configures an email. Doesn't work in Firefox 5.0 but OK in IE 8, Opera and Netscape. v

My web site is generated by Second Site , author John Cardinal, and contains email links which when selected automatically createsan email which all you need to do is fill in the body and send it. This has worked in the past in Firefox and does work now using IE 8, Opera, and Netscape browsers but does not work when using my Firefox browser neither locally on my computer or in my Internet website. Firefox is my browser of choice. This has worked in the past using Firefox.
My web site is www.schulteis.com/omnibus/. On the presentation page, on the bottom, where it identifies Genealogist: Site Administrator. Select it and it may work for you. John Cardinal tested it on his local machine and it worked for him. His response to me was,
"It's very likely that this is some sort of browser configuration error, and it's probably related to using a web-based email client, In
Firefox, look under Options > Applications and see how the "Mailto" Content type is configured. It should probably say "Use Yahoo Mail" [it does]. I have never configured a browser to use a web-base email client, so I can't help more than that.
Since this works fine on my computer and on my Internet site when using browsers IE 8, Opera, and Netscape but not Firefox, and I didn't do anything special for any browser to cause it to work, don't know what I could have done wrong for Firefox.
    I am using Yahoo mail.

I'm also running FF 36.0.4 on a Win 7 machine.  Here is what I see when I "open" the map (from the server - not inside DW):
The map area stays white with no image even after several minutes.  The cursor does change to a hand when over the area where the map should be and if I click and drag there the cursor switches to the closed hand - so it's acting like the map is there and can be moved - but just no map shows up.
I'll run it though the validator.  Thanks!

  • Facing the problem in loading the applet in mozilla, Firefox and netscape

    Dear sir,
Well I am facing the problem regarding loading of applet in firefox, mozilla and netscape. Its working fine in IE6 I have the samplecode which asks for jdk1.4 whenever the applet gets loaded in IE6 and also it works fine for every browser but he is asking jre for every time whenever the page gets loaded even if the jre is installed. I need a code such that it should ask only if the jre is not installed. One more thing is it so that for mozilla or netscape the jre installation files are different.
    pls give the solution.
Well I am also facing the problem like when I load login page of my applicatoin in netscape or firefox
I provided the buton on login page on which the hyperlink is present, the hyperlink is of servlet path when I click on the same it shows me the blank page instead he should forward the page to the next jsp webpage where I am showing the applet. • SSOException for Netscape browser but not IE

We are getting an SSOException (service URL not found: session) error when a user tries to log in using Netscape and they get bounced out with an invalid session message; however, the user is able to log in just fine if they are using Internet Explorer. After investigating the debug and log files, I can see that the problem is that when users log in with Netscape, the initial session id that is set with a cookie on the browser before the user authenticates is not being found by the Identity Server so it issues a new session id for the authenticated user. Therefore, I see a valid session for the user in the IS console, but the cookie stored in the Netscape browser has a different session id that is not valid (it was issued pre-authentication).
The Identity Server is not having a problem with Internet Explorer (the logs show that the initial session id that is issued is the one that it finds and uses after the user authenticates).
The Netscape browser is set to accept ALL cookies. In fact, when I configure the browser to warn me before accepting a cookie, I can see the initial cookie JSESSIONID being set on the Netscape browser.
The weird thing about this whole thing is that up until last week, this was working fine in both browsers with their current configurations. We did change some configurations in the Identity Server to use the LDAP across SSL but I don't see how that would affect the browsers and the Identity Server's ability to locate the cookie in each browser.
The only thing I can figure out from the debug files is that in the amAuth debug file, you can see where an initial session id is being set by a Netscape user, and after they hit the Login module, the session id is not found and a new one is issued. In IE, an initial session id is set and after the Login module, the initial session id is found and continues to be used. I cannot figure out why the Identity Server doesn't see the Netscape user's initial session id. I also cannot figure out what we could have changed that would cause this error to start happening only in the last week.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might look?

  • Different result in IE and Netscape

    Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 3.2 to create my JSP and BC4J. I deployed them into my web server, but I got different result in IE and Netscape. I amd using web bean method to create my JSP.
When I view my JSP from IE, everything looks as expected. But when I view them from Netscape, some pages did not display correctly.
    1. For the JSTab, the Netscape displays different color(blue) in the help text area, but the IE display gray color.
    2. If I have a table with many columns (e.g.25) to be displayed and my browser is too small to display them all, the Netscape displays JSRowSetBrowser incorrectly. The top right corner, and bottom right corner did not display at the last column side, instead it displaying in the middle of my JSRowSetBrowser. It also suppressed my one button in the same page. IE displays them all properly.
How do I fix this problem? Please help.
I am using webapp/cabo/images/cabo_styles.css as my style sheet.

I'm not an expert on Netscape, but I would guess that you're problems are simply caused by the differences between IE and NS.
It is very difficult to write (functional) JS code that works perfectly between the two of them and I bet that JSTab isn't written in such a way.
You may want to try using your own tab object, we do this by creating a page for each tab and making the actual tabs be links to each page. This avoids the use of JavaScript.
    Good Luck!!!

  • Sessions with internetexplorer and opera browser  are different

im new to java technology, i have a doubt regarding sessions...
i have used InternetExplorer and logged in using two browsers with two different user names . when i logged out of yahoo in one browser the second browsers session is also expired......
but with opera browser it is working fine ....
does sessions also depends up on browser implementation..
    pls clear my doubt...

Opera, Firefox and Netscape seem to use a different approach to multiple browser windows, where they share memory spaces. I'm not sure why this is, but all three do it.
IE will only share a session between windows spawned in the same thread (IE the File --> New --> Window or clicking on a link that uses JavaScript to open a new window, or right clicking and selecting Open in New Window). But, if an IE browser is open, then you launch a whole new instance of IE (clicking the Icon on the Desktop again), those sessions will not be shared.

  • Failed in JMF diagnostics in netscape browser 7

I installed J2sdk 1.4.3 and jmf2.1.1e in Redhat Linux 7.3 and following their installation instruction to set up some environment variables. However I encountered two problems in configuring JMF.
One is that when I configured the jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin, some error messages came up as following,
    java.lang.error: Can't open video card 1
    ....................................................................2
    ....................................................................3
    .....................................................................9"
The second one is that after I run JMF diagnostics applet program to verify JMF installation. However, it failed with the following error message,
    "Java1.1 compliant browser... Maybe
    JMF classes.... Not Found"
I do not what is wrong with JMF installation. Does this failure come from uncompatible version between Java SDK and JMF, netscape browser or other things?
Thanks for your time to reply.

Did you set up the JMFHOME environment variable ?
That would account for the classes not found bit.
Not sure if you also need to set up ld.library.path... ( or something similarly named ).
I haven't done much on Linux, but very carefully read the install docs...

  • An error occured with Labview 5.1.1 and Netscape 7.1

After upgrading Netscape from version 7.02 to 7.1 i receive miscellaneous errors after some time while executing an program which sends and receives data via tcp/ip. If an error has occured, it is necessary to restart Labview and Netscape. Then it works some hours before crashing again. With Netscape 7.02 everything worked fine.
    Any solutions?

Normaly, Netscape (only the Messenger) is running all the time. And some time the Labview-program which uses tcp/ip is running at the same time. This does not make any trouble. But if I am using the Netscape Browser too at the same time, then miscellaneous errors occur and I must restart the whole Netscape suite. If I don't do this, the Labview program always reports an error.
Little time before Labview reports an error, the Browser view in Netscape is corrupted (some times arabien characters).
I am using Windows 98SE. With Netscape 7.02 everything worked fine, the error occured after upgrading to version 7.1.
I haven't looked at the resources yet, but I will do.

  • Jre1.3.1_02 blues.... :(

    Hi,
I have some pbm with this version of jre. I have 2 HTML frames. Initially i load an SwingApplet in frame 1 and then upon an event load 2nd applet in frame 2 using getAppletContext().showDocument(<URL>). This works fine in both the versions(1.3.1_01 & 1.3.1_02). In the 2nd applet i change the value of boolean variable present in the 1st applet. Yes the variable is declared "public static....". The change is reflected back when using jre1.3.1_01 but NOT in jre1.3.1_02.
Does anyone have any idea????Is this a bug???. This is URGENT please.....
    Ram

I have experienced the same problem, the interapplet communication via static variables is BROKEN (the "normal" way doesnt work either, the function getApplets() returns now (finally) all applets, but they cant by class casted)

    Hello.
Due to firewall issues I cannot state for certain if I am having a similar behaviour to yours. It appears that Netscape( 7.1 ) attempts to resolve to plugins.netscape.com irrespective of the pluginspage attribute ( if it resolves further I cannot see it due to firewalls ). IE appears to try and autoupdate ( based on the firewall challenges ).
You could try and provide a conditionally constructed link ( with information about the JRE failure ) to the JRE of choice between comment/embed/object elements. It is not the solution you asked for, but a potential alternative.

    James.
