[JS CS3]linking inline textframes

Hi,
I've got an inline textframe with overflowing text, but this
VG.myFirstTextFrame.nextTextFrame =VG.myNewFrame;
doesn't work for some reason, well, I can't manage to link the overset textframe to another frame by hand by clicking on the red plus either, so apparently I'm missing something here...
thanks!

The reason it doesn't work is because the product doesn't support threaded anchored frames.

  • Trouble opening .inx files in CS3 - links randomly replaced with foo.jpg

    I have to move a lot of CS4 InDesign files to CS3, and I often run into a bizarre problem. After opening an .inx file in InDesign CS3, sometimes perfectly normal PDF, JPG, EPS and AI files will mysteriously be replaced with a linked file called "foo.jpg" that InDesign thinks is missing (it always reports the path as "c:foo.jpg"). I then have to go figure out what the original file was actually called and where it was saved and relink it manually.
    There is no rhyme or reason to when linked files don't come over - our logo is saved in one location and linked in every single piece we make, yet sometimes it links fine when imported into CS3 and sometimes it doesn't. Going back to CS4 and exporting a new .inx file never works - a file that will not link correctly in CS3 will never show up correctly.
    It always thinks "foo" is a .jpg file, even if the original link was actually a .pdf, .eps or whatever.
    Any ideas? I'm perplexed.

    Smells like a bug to me. Did you try reporting it?
    What happens if you search the incp file for "foo"? Does it find
    anything?
    When the vendor opens the file, what is the link name on his end?

  • CS3 Linking Error

    In CS3, when I open a previously save .ai file I receive
    an error which states, "An error occurred trying to
    read the linked file [insert file name].  Choose Repair
    to locate the missing file, Replace to select another
    file, or Ignore to leave the link unchanged."  Regardless
    of which one I pick, it simply reopens the same error
    window and asks me to do the same thing again.  All
    image files are CYMK formated PSD files and located in
    the same folder as the Illustrator file.  I am running
    CS3 on Windows 8.  Can anyone help?  I am beyond frus-
    trated.  Thanks.

    Ian,  Thanks.  That did solve the K2Vector problems.
    Are you aware of which .tpp covers the PMMatrix class?  That would probably make this linking error:
    Convert.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "__declspec(dllimport) public: class PMReal __thiscall PMMatrix::operator[](int)const " (__imp_??APMMatrix@@QBE?AVPMReal@@H@Z) referenced in function "class Ipg3::Matrix __cdecl ConvertMatrix(class PMMatrix const &)" (?ConvertMatrix@@YA?AVMatrix@Ipg3@@ABVPMMatrix@@@Z)

  • AI CS3 "link images with transparency" issue

    i created .AI file with CS2 everything works perfectly.
    when the file opened with AI CS3 some link images (.PSD files with image transparency) not appear
    and gives me a error saying it cannot find or link the images.
    when i replace with new link or i ignore it, still can't display the missing images
    but if i opened the file with AI CS5 everything okay
    how to solve this problem ?
    is there any patchs for AI CS3 ??
    NEED HELP

    Open it in CS5 and do a save as to overwrite the older file
    or save it from CS 5 as a CS 3 file.
    Then try to open it in CS 3

  • Script Indesign CS3 - Split multicolumn TextFrame to separated TextFrames (For PC)

    any one know what script can make it ???
    ike this...
    http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/905/20080517085017hb3.jpg

    Loic, great job, that's a very useful script!
    I found myself using it a lot, so I created an enhanced version, borrowing a few lines from yours, I hope that's ok with you. My script fixes most of the problems, and it installs itself in InDesign's menu system, so it is virtually indistinguishable from a built-in command. Once you run it, you can reach it via "Object > Break Into Columns". If you set the script to load when InDesign starts, you don't even have to use the scripts panel at all.
    Fixes/Enhancements over Loic's version/previous versions (hope I get that formatting right):
    * The code no longer uses script labels. Existing script labels are no longer lost and the command can be run more than once per document without manually clearing out all script labels first.
    * The script now installs itself into InDesign's "Object" menu. The menu item is disabled automatically if the command cannot be run (for example if no text frame is selected).
    * Frames with only one column are handled correctly
    * Z order is preserved
    * Text Frame attributes such as Fill, Stroke etc. are preserved
    * Locked frames are handled correctly (i.e. the command is grayed out)
    * Text threads are preserved
    * Assigned InCopy frames are dealt with correctly. They used to lose the link to the original story file and end up as "Unassigned InCopy Content"
    * Assigned InCopy frames no longer need to be checked out for the script to work
    * The new frames end up on the same layer as the original one
    * The new frames end up on the same page/spread as the original one, rather than being placed on the first page of the document
    Know Issues:
    * Choosing "Edit > Undo" will undo the script in steps. I don't know if there is a way for scripts to act as transactions in the scripting interface, but using the C++ API just for that is probably not worth it.
    * Transforms such as rotated frames are not handled correctly
    * Only InDesign 5.0 (CS3) and above is supported
    Here is the download link:

    Hope this is useful.

  • E-Signature; making links inline so...

    I've been trying to get my email signature into Outlook &
    it would not retain the hex values for the active links. They

    below; it still doesn't work) And, of course, the background
    pattern which lies behind the text doesn't transfer either...I

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Linking Using Spry Menu Bars

    Hello,
    Please forgive my noobieness. I used to use Adobe GoLive and
    am now transitioning to Dreamweaver.
    I have the layout of the website I want using a template
    provided by DW with a fixed main content area, header and a footer.
    The banner and the horizontal menu bar are at the top. The content
    would be displayed below as each button from the menu bar is
    clicked. I have followed the directions in the Missing Manual
    series but I still seem to have problems.
    1. For example. For a button listing Directions. I have it
    set to link to the proper .html file called Directions.html. This
    was set using the Spry Properties. Same for Home and a pricing
    menu. However when I run it using Firefox it opens a new tab and
    displays the chosen content there rather than in the existing page
    where the menu bar is located. In IE I cannot even get the page to
    jump to any place else. I dont here the clicking noise or even some
    kind of recognition that is trying to load the chosen page.
    I see a list for target but those have no effect.
    2. Secondly. In IE the menu bar drop down works really slow
    even when I view other peoples websites that were built using CS3.
    In Firefox it seems to work fine.
    Any suggestions would be great and appreciated. Attached is
    som code.

    Hi Peter,
    only to show you my impressions.
    1. FF:
    2. IE8:
    There is no "failing".?

  • Flash CS3 Linking

    Hi,
    I am extremely new to creating websites, I knew nothing three
    weeks ago. The site I have built is www.alecq.com the problem I am
    having is that after much trouble I managed to create a button in
    flash CS3 and export it to Dreamweaver CS3. The links work, however
    when pressed they open in a new window. How can I do this so that
    when a link is pressed it opens in the same window.
    I hope this makes sense. Below is the code I used in Flash
    for one of the buttons:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    var getportfolio:URLRequest = new URLRequest("Untitled
    Document");
    addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,pclick);
    function pclick(event:MouseEvent):void{
    navigateToURL(getportfolio);
    I will now show the relevant code from dreamweaver:
    <object
    classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/s...rsion=9,0,28,0"
    width="62" height="27" title="About Alec Quinton Male Model
    Bristol">
    <param name="movie" value="Buttons/About.swf" />
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always">
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <embed src="Buttons/About.swf" quality="high"
    pluginspage="

    type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="62" height="27"
    allowScriptAccess="always"></embed>
    </object>
    I would be so very grateful of some help, please keep it
    simple though, my knowledge is minimal! Many thanks in
    advance.

  • CS3 JS create textFrame with label then change content at a later stage.

    Is it possible to select a textframe by label?
    Here is a simple script which creates 2 text boxes labeled JSLabel and JSLabel2.
    var myDocument = app.documents.add();
    var myTextFrame = myDocument.pages.item(0).textFrames.add();
    myTextFrame.geometricBounds = ["6p", "6p", "24p", "24p"];
    myTextFrame.contents = "Hello World!";
    myTextFrame.label = "JSLabel";
    var myTextFrame = myDocument.pages.item(0).textFrames.add();
    myTextFrame.geometricBounds = ["8p", "8p", "24p", "24p"];
    myTextFrame.contents = "Hello World Again";
    myTextFrame.label = "JSLabel2";
    Here is a script you can run at a later stage to change the content of JSLabel textframe.
    if (app.activeDocument.textFrames[1].label == "JSLabel"){
    var mySelect = app.activeDocument.textFrames[1];
    app.select (mySelect);
    mySelect.contents = "Text has been changed.";
    Rather than using if (app.activeDocument.textFrames[1].label == "JSLabel") can I just select the textframe labeled JSLbel and change the content?

    Just bear in mind that if you have multiple frames with the same label, they'll all be affected if you set the content.

  • [CS3 JS] Indesign Textframe to Photoshop or Illustrator?

    I have some text in an indesign textframe I need exported to a transparent gif. Indesign has no option for exporting gifs, and jpgs won't work. Ive tryed looking at bridgetalk and doScript but I can't seem to figure out how to send a textframe object to photoshop(ill take illustrator too if thats easier). All I need to do is send the textframe as-is and export it to a transparent gif. Thanks in advance.

    Use InDesign for brochures; it has superior tyypograpical control, and is made for layout work. Use Illustrator for creating graphics and logos to place in the InDesign doucment. Save Photoshop for photo editing.
    Lynda.com is a good resourse, and it offers a free trail subscription. There are lots of good books available
    InDesign Visual QuickStart Guide by Sandee Cohen is one often recomended here.
    And once you get stated, the InDesign and Illustrator forums here are always a great resource.

  • Link to InDesign CS3 Trial?

    Hi, I am trying to locate the InDesign CS3 trial download. Does anyone know where to find it? All the CS3 links I've found take me to the CS4 page where there does not seem to be a trial available yet.
    Thanks.

    I looked the other day myself, and it appears that the CS3 trials have been removed from the website. You used to be able to find them on the updates pages, but no more.

  • Premiere pro cs3 ftp link

    We purchased Premiere Pro CS3 couple years ago.  Had to reformat computer, can't reinstall because downloaded first time with trial and the 30 days is up.  Adobe keeps telling me they will make the Premiere Pro CS3 link to install the program and email the link to me.  This has been going on since the beginning of 2009.  Still no link.  upgraded to CS4 like Adobe suggested, having all kinds of problems.  Is it possible to use someone else's installation discs for CS3 but use my serial number to register it?

    I have Premiere Pro CS4 installed on my desktop and my laptop. My projects are generally short in length (30 seconds to 30 minutes; some larger but the project size doesn't seem to make any difference) and I am still in SD, not HD.  Although a little slow because I'm running 32 bits, initially it worked fine on both, until . . . .
    Desktop - all of a sudden I'm getting an error message "Licensing for this product has stopped working", followed by a couple similar error messages.  It will only stay open for 5 minutes tops before this message appears.  I've tried the solutions posted by Adobe and the Forums but nothing has worked.  I can't think of anything that changed on my computer that made this start happening.
    Laptop - Same error message as above. It never did import to Media Composer. Then I had issues with the Dell XPS laptop so our IT dept worked on it and fixed those issues by replacing motherboard, memory and video card (old video card was a NVIDIA Geo Force 8800 GTX, new card is a ATI Mobility Radeon X1800, any thoughts as to whether this replacement was a step up or down from the NVIDIA are welcome). They reinstalled the programs and now Premiere works okay but it still won't import to Media Composer.  Media Composer opens but the project never gets there and I get the red X or the caution triangle.
    Desktop - Premiere doesn't work but it does talk to Media Composer.  If I can get it to stay up long enough I can take the video I create from the laptop, open it on my desktop and then Import to Media Composer.
    The desktop is a Dell XPS 720; Windows XP Professional Version 2002 w/Service Pack 3; 32 bit; Intel Core 2 Quad; Q6600 @ 2.40GHz; 2.40 GHz; 2.75 GB of RAM.
    The laptop is a Dell XPS 720; Windows XP Professional Version 2002; 32 bit; Intel Core 2 CPU; T7200 @ 2.00GHz; 1.99 GHz; 3.25 GB of RAM.
    This is extremely frustrating.  Especially when I didn't have any problems with CS3.  Thanks for any help you can provide

  • How to get the Page Number in CS3 with VB?

    Hi, Everybody
    I use the Visual Basic to read the words and their page number where the Words are at. I want to do it according to Story. Some TextFrame of the Story waw placed in other pages: How can I get the Page number according to the Word that is selected?
    For myStoryCounter = 1 to Document.Stories.Count
    Set myStory = Document.Stories.Item(myStoryCounter)
    For myWordCounter = 1 to myStory.Words.Count
    Set myWord = myStory.Words.Item(myWordCounter)
    myWordContents = myWord.Contents

    > But I don't understand why Item(1) are set.
    because Word can have more than one parent TextFrame - when split across TextFrames
    only Character have one ParentTextFrame accessed also by ParentTextFrames.Item(1)
    > why Story.TextFrames.Count alway is 0, Is it bug?
    no - it's not bug
    in older IDs - Story.TextFrames collection refer to all TextFrames as containers for Story text
    but in CS3 - collection Story.TextFrames contain all TextFrames inserted as InLine/Anchored objects - same like Story.Rectangles or Story.Ovals
    in CS3 - when you want to refer to TextFrames as containers for Story text - you need to use Story.TextContainers - because now you can link TextFrame and Text-On-Path as Story - Text-On-Path isn't TextFrame
