  • JScript error in Application integrated by URL iView

    Hi All,
    I've got a problem with integrating an application in the portal by using an URL iView in popup-mode. When opened, a Javascript error is shown indicating that a certain object under "parent." can't be accessed by the application. I suspect that is because the portal doesn't really open a blank popup window but adds its own code on top of the page. Unfortunately we can't alter the code since it's a third party application.
    The iView is set to "display in separate window" (= popup) and I played around with every single option in the "Web Page Area" category - and most of the other options available in the iView editor that seemed to make sense.
    When clicking "preview" in the iView editor the application always works perfectly in the popup that appears. But I can see from the looks of the URL that the application is called in a different way when clicking "preview". It's not a portal URL then - it's being called directly.
    Is there any way to create an URL iView that simply opens an URL as a popup without any portal frames or portal code added - just like the "preview" button does?
    Thanks a lot,
    Jens

    Hi Daniel,
    first of all thanks a lot for trying to recreate my scenario.
    I created a test role and added cnn.com as an URL iView just so that we are both talking about the same thing. No problem there - the portal redirects and the URL reads "cnn.com".
    I did the same with our application in question (all iView options to default except for "Open in New Window"). There it doesn't work, the site just loads partially and then stops due to a JScript error. Again, not so if I just click "Preview" in the iView editor.
    We're on 2004s SP9
    Here's what I think happens:
    When I navigate to "View --> Source" in Internet Explorer (be it CNN or be it our application) there's a lot of portal code with an IFRAME at the bottom:
    <IFRAME src='http://myapplication.company.com/' frameBorder=0  style='WIDTH:100%' height='100%' id='isolatedWorkArea' name='isolatedWorkArea'></IFRAME>
    CNN doesn't mind but it seems that the JS-programming of our application gets confused because the application is not the topmost element in the DOM hierarchy (instead it's just inside a full size IFRAME surrounded by an invisible portal page).
    Is there any way to get rid of this code? As I said, I already tried the various iView-options...
    Thanks a lot,
    Jens

  • JScript error in Window script block for SharePoint web part

    I am getting a runtime JScript error while trying to execute my web part. I assume that this error may be occuring because I am trying to assign a Javascript function to a SPMenuField.NavigateUrlFormat property.
    I have tried modifying the AllowedProtocols value in one the array variables for the SPUrlUtility.AllowedProtocols using the instructions at
    http://tipssharepoint.blogspot.in/2010/06/using-javascript-in-navigateurlformat.html. Even that didnt work.
    Could someone please help me on this?
    Thanks Sandy

    Hi ChaitanyaSandeep,
    The list of allowed protocols in AllowProtocols property doesn’t contain javascript, the following article shows an example to replace one of the values of the AllowedProtocols array before rendering the control, you can consider checking
    whether this works:

  • Click on calendar control in parameter prompt of viewer gets Jscript error

    Within SAP supplied CrystalViewer.  VS2008 web app, XIR2 Crystal Server, 11.5.3700 or 11.5.3300 libraries.  Although not a forum favored combination of tools, everything seems to work except calendar control within parameter prompts.
    IUSER_(machine name) or everyone has read and execute access for directory and subdirectories via IIS and Windows file system (suggestion from a more general problem post).
    I am able to fill in the date parameter text box and all works well.  Calendar icon properly displays to right of text box but it is followed on subsequent lines by :
    Business Objects X
    i
    i
    within the individual parameter box.
    Click on calendar icon to allow pick of date from calendar causes Jscript error.

    Hi Jonathon,
    Thank you for your quick response.  Response to you questions follows.
    Q:Does it work anywhere?
    A:It doesn't work on any date parameter when executed in VS project.  (It does work with Crystal Developer XIR2 client.)  I am only using the viewer - not designing report within project.  Given that, can you suggest a test for calendar control outside of parameters to answer this question?  Sorry for my ignorance.
    Q:It is likely the combination of CR 2008 / XI R2 is not playing well, as you've indicated - they are not meant to. It could be missing runtime files causing issues. Is the CR 2008 runtime installed on the server as well, or only the XI R2 runtime?
    A: We have VS2008 but not CR2008 which is what I think you meant.  With VS2008 installed on development workstation accessing remote XIR2 server objects, a web app running on workstation has problem with calendar.  I am out of my league, but I am thinking the execution of a calendar control for a parameter would not need to call any Crystal libary which might mess things up, but the call is coming from an 11.5.3700 viewer which may be making the wrong call for a VS2008 base library that handles calendar control.  But, I am hoping instead that the problem is that it cannot find something it needs or that it does not have proper access to that something (which has been the cause of all the other problems I have solved).

  • No script engine supported for 'JScript' error in OBIEE 11G ibots

    Infrastructure: 64 bit OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on 64 bit Red-Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6
    We tried using *.java to export the delivery content of an 'Agent' and place it in a shared folder on Windows.
    We are able to use the .java file directly in putty and it works fine in creating a folder and copying the file from source to target, but when we put the same script as part of the actions in the 'Agent' properties, its fails with the error "[nQSError: 66023] No script engine supported for 'JScript'". The e-mail is triggered and the attachment is delivered fine.
    We tried the same with a *.js file. The error is the same. I found people using *.js scripts and they say it worked for them at Re: How to send the content of an agent (PDF Report) to local machine in 11g
    But I am not sure what are the other settings that should be done. The error seems very basic and fundamental and has something to do with java interpreter or something.
    Any help if you have implemented the same, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    That example in the link shows creating an action at the end of 'Agent'. I am not sure if that is what the user meant by 'create an action'. If the user meant to create an 'action', how does and where we call that action at the end of an 'Agent'?
    I did try creating an action by updating the 'UserScript.js' file, but the moment i update the file with a custom function, the server doesnot recognise the UserScript.js file anymore and i cannot even use the default functions in UserScript.js file.

  • Embed code - jscript error

    I have used some embed code in a jscript file that someone
    was nice enough to stuff - see attached to overcome the "click on
    object to acvtivate" so that my .swf plays without having to click
    it twice. This works well except I am getting conflicts with other
    things e.g. if windows media player plays, I now possibly get a
    skype IE plugin error jscript.dll error. Not sure if this is
    related but wanted to check if any one else come across this
    problem. Thanks.

    The ampersand (&) is a special character in XML (and thus also XHTML). It represents the start of an entity which usually ends with semicolon (;). In your case you rather wanted to show the ampersand as-is. You need to represent it as an entity then: &amp;.

  • Jscript error after updating JRE

    Hello.
    When I update to JRE 6 I got an error messagebox twice:
    Microsoft Jscript compilation error
    Invalid character
    From that moment on, every Java app starts with this message and then runs OK.
    It happens in several workstations and servers with w2003, W2008, WXP and W7.
    If the workstation language is Spanish, same error appears but in Spanish.
    The message appears even if I go to http://java.sun.com/applets/jdk/1.4/demo/applets/Clock/example1.html
    I have updated and test several versions of MS Jscript but no success.
    If I downgrade to JRE 5 the message-box doesn't appear any more.
    Any clue about how I can track the error?
    Thanks in advance
    Julio.

    Yes, It's similar but I get no character after the message. The message only says: Invalid character

    If you have the later version of GRE (Java) Our Solution is:
    1- Go to Control Panel
    2- Click on the "Java" Icon
    3- In General tab, click on "Network Settings..."
    4- check the radio button "Direct Connection"
    5- and that is it!!!
    It works for me, but I can not use that solution because I can not tell the users to change the configuration. They have to use the "use browser settings" option.

  • EP6 Client Side IE Jscript Errors

    Hi,
    Lately we have been experiencing severe client side issues involving javascript IE errors.  This means that when the portal page loads for the user, it appears for the user incomplete.  Meaning perhaps they will see their first and/or second level navigation and then everything else is white.  On the bottom left corner of their IE window I have noticed there is the IE symbol with a yellow exclamation point over either stating 'Done,' 'Done with Errors,' 'Error on Page,' or something similar.  Basically it's always a javascript error.
    Clearing cache, cookies, temp files, refreshing, and rebooting does not help.  These clients are all running IE6 w/128bit encryption.  One fix we have found so far is that after we performed our Patch4 upgrade, we found that somehow not all PRTBridge files were updated according to the primary server node's files.  We had to manually copy these files to each server node for that portal environment.  So far it appears that has helped.
    I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this issue?
    Thanks - Danielle

    Hi,
    Is it possible that you have experienced the problems described in note 785308, that are caused after installing MS Security Hotfix KB834707?

  • SVG graphs: microsoft jscript run time error

    I have an application that uses SVG pie charts. A few months ago, we suddenly started to get an error message saying, "Microsoft JScript Runtime Error: Object expected, line: 1, column 26". After you click ok, the pie charts are displayed.
    The only thing that has changed is that the application is now being run from Juniper. Also, if i run the application using Firefox instead of IE 7, we don't get the Microsoft JScript error. ( We are using Adobe SVG viewer for IE 7 given that IE doesn't have native support for SVG graphics).
    Does anybody else have any similar problems or know what can be the cause of the error?

    What is Juniper?

  • Bobj is undefined error while debugging a web application

    Hello, I am developing an asp.net web application in which I display a report, and testing it by using a sample (dummy) report that's saved on the computer's hard drive.  In design mode, the report displays properly, when when I try to debug the site on my machine (the server in this case, but it should work on any computer, since debugging is done on localhost), the site crashes and returns a Microsoft JScript error 'bobj is undefined'.  I have already tried moving the CrystalReportsViewer folder to be a sub-directory of the application (physical and virtual), as well as adding a script tag to refer to the location of the .js files in that directory, but nothing seems to fix the error.
    I recently tried installing the fix-packs and service packs for crystal reports, but the problem persists.
    I"m running Windows 7, VS 2008, Crystal Reports 2008, and IIS 7.  Thank you in advance.

    Hi;
    Compiling as 32 bit is only available for a Windows based application, not a Web one. You need to configure IIS to run either 32 or 64 bit.
    As for the bobj undefined error, try these kbases:

    when im running the bc4j input date tag in a form, a jscript error comes up (object not found error)-> When i pick the date control. I have already checked the cabo directory and all files is there. The same enviroment in other developers PCs works well.

    how can i fix it?
    The calendar never comes up.

    The none value is only shown when the field accepts null values.

  • APEX_ITEM.DATE_POPUP javascript error

    Hi there
    I have a dynamic report I have built where the date popup has stopped working.
    The date popup works fine for other form fields in other regions on the page but within my dynamic sql report region the javascript is erroring when clicing on the calendar image.
    The Apex version is 2.2.
    The code in the dynamic report is: APEX_ITEM.DATE_POPUP(5,rownum,action_date_time,'dd-MON-RR',9) action_date_time
    The Jscript error is basically: document.forms.0.f05.length is null or not an object.
    The input object in the HTML source is: <input type="text" name="f05" size="9" maxlength="2000" value="03-OCT-06" style="padding-right:5px;" />
    And the Jscript which refers to it is immediately after:
    function genCalf05_0()
    elemArrLen = 0;
    if (document.forms[0].f05.length) {
    elemArrLen = document.forms[0].f05.length;
    ... etc...

    I have discovered why the calendar control is not working -
    As a customisation I included another <form> tag in the menu which is interfering with the popup (forms[0]).
    I may need to look into either doing my customisation a different way (it is above the standard form tag in the menu) or see if I can write some type of custom calendar popup.
    When the calendar control in the actions region is built - some javascript is written by APEX which I have no control over - it looks like
    " if (document.forms[0].f05.length) {
    elemArrLen = document.forms[0].f05.length;
    }"
