JSF forms inside WEB-INF

Hi, I have a struts web-app which contains all its jsps below WEB-INF. These pages are accessible via forwards in the struts-config.xml file, e.g. xy.do forwards to /WEB-INF/pages/content/xy.jsp.
I have added a new forwards entry to struts-config.xml that points to a jsp page containing jsf tags. e.g. myjsfform.do forwards to /WEB-INF/pages/content/myjsfform.jsp. When myjsfform.do is accessed the jsf page is correctly rendered. However, when I try to submit the form I get error 404 "The requested resource (myapp/WEB-INF/pages/content/myjsfform.faces) is not available".
How do I get my form to successfully submit? Do I need to move it out of WEB-INF?

bumped, now with duke dollars!

  • Putting javascript inside WEB-INF

    I could not call a javascript function test() from JSP. my function is defined in .js file places inside WEB-INF/javascript/script.js
    and my JSP is inside WEB-INF/jsp/report.jsp. Its says object expected. I have tried all ways but could not access that function from JSP. Both javascript and jsp are inside WEB-INF folder. This is required.

  • Crystal Report Images Not Showing - JSP inside /WEB-INF folder

    Hi Experts,
    I am using Crystal report for Eclipse and also using Struts2 and tiles framework combination.
    The problem is when viewing the report all I've got is red X on all images and the graph image also not showing. This is when I use tiles and my jsp is inside the web-inf folder.
    This is my struts link: href="s:url value='/report/reportOpen.action?report=1'
    I've checked that the path to the viewer generated HTML is not correct. see code below.
    src="../../../crystalreportviewers/js/crviewerinclude.js"
    But when I test to access a simple jsp viewer that resides on the web root folder, this works fine but of course this is not what I want to have. I need to have my banner and menus on top of the report page (using tiles)
    This is my jsp link: href="s:url value='/ReportViewer.jsp?report=1'
    Viewer generated HTML below.
    src="crystalreportviewers/js/crviewerinclude.js"
    This might be a common problem and that you can share to me your solution.
    Note: I removed the script tags because I can't submit this entry.
    Thank you  in advance,

    Crystal Report Images Not Showing - JSP inside /WEB-INF folder

    Hi Saravana,
    After a few experimentation from your idea i was able to figure out the problem and now it is working.
    I don't have to copy the folder to where my jsp resides but still maintains it in the root location:  web/crystalreportviewers
    The changes should always be in web.xml.
    1st: change the crystal_image_uri value to ../crystalreportviewers
    2nd: change crystal_image_use_relative value to "web"
    Change to "web" instead of webapp because that is what I named my web root folder.
    <context-param>
              <param-name>crystal_image_uri</param-name>
              <param-value>../crystalreportviewers</param-value>
         </context-param>
         <context-param>
              <param-name>crystal_image_use_relative</param-name>
              <param-value>web</param-value>
         </context-param>
    Thank you. You showed me the way on how to solve the 3 day problem.
    BTW, my next problem is when clicking on any buttons prev/next/print/export, I got this error HTTP Status 404.
    Well, at least for now I can view my initial report.  I just need to figure out the next issue and with the help of the great people here in the forum.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Deployment of JSF Libraries to /WEB-INF/lib

    Good day.
    In our new web application we use three different JSF taglibs (richfaces, trinidad, tomahawk). All of them are managed as "JSF Libraries" (created in eclipse options->web->"JavaServer Faces Tools"->Libraries). To include jars from these libraries in webapp I've checked respective entries in project's options->"Java EE Module Dependencies"->"Web Libraries". However webapp doesn't contain jars from these libs at runtime even if webapp is served from separate folder within weblogic server's directory structure (don't remember how this option is called at server configuration page). Is it some kind of a bug or this feature is just not supported (tradeoff for being able to serve modules directly from the workspace)? I read throught OEPE help contents, but haven't found definite answer there.
    Env: Eclipse 3.4.1, WTP 3.0.3, OEPE 1.0, JVM Sun 1.6.0_11, Win32 XP SP2, WLS 10.3
    Thank you very much!

    Sorry, forgot to mention that web application is a part of ear archive. Don't know if "Stand-alone Web Application Deployment Mode" will have any signification effect in this case.
    However, here are contents of .beabuild file from ear and contents of temporary directory from wls with webapp contents if it will be of any importance.

  • Help required with downloading files from inside WEB-INF folder

    I am working on a web application and I have an upload script which uploads different files to a foler called 'uploads' . To stop users from accessing the folder content I have put it in the /WEB-INF/.
    In my JSP file, I used to link to the uploaded files like this before for users to download them :
    if(filesListIterator.hasNext()
    files = (FilesBean)filesListIterator.next();
    <tr><td><a target="_new" href="<%=files.getFileName()%>">"<%=files.getFileName()%></a></td></tr>
    }I need to know how to alter the above link to make it access/download files from the /WEB-INF/uploads/ while still restricting direct access to the files.
    Thanks

    Anything under WEB-INF is not directly accessible via the browser/ client. You could try defining the JSP/ Servlet inside web.xml deployment descriptor and see if you can access the file from there.
    I think a better way to accomplish this would be to keep the file outside WEB-INF , and use other techniques to protect the folder that contains the file - for example password-protection, or defining a .htaccess file and serving a 403 Forbidden error.

  • Access JSF Pages within WEB-INF directory

    Hi,
    I am generating a project using JHeadstart 10.1.3
    with the default setting for the UI Pages directory (/WEB-INF/page).
    This means that the generated pages are placed in the page directory
    within the WEB-INF directory.
    The generated pages use ADF Faces and the problem is that I can't
    get access to the pages in the WEB-INF directory
    When I try to deploy to OC4J standalone, the pages in the WEB-INF directory
    are not accessible.
    I read that I have to construct a index.jspx file that forwards to
    the first page (Home.jspx)
    This is my index.jspx:
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0">
    <jsp:scriptlet> request.getRequestDispatcher("WEB-INF/page/Home.jspx").forward(request,response);
    </jsp:scriptlet>
    </jsp:root>
    This works, but I now have the problem of not getting a valid FacesContext:

    What is the required way of setting up the forward (and having a valid FacesContext)?
    I know that this is a JHeadstart problem, but maybe you guys know how to solve it.

    I do something similar in my index.jspx file - but I needed to add "faces" to the url path. This will have the faces servlet process it and setup the faces context.
    Have you tried changing
    request.getRequestDispatcher("WEB-INF/page/Home.jspx").forward(request,response);to
    request.getRequestDispatcher("faces/WEB-INF/page/Home.jspx").forward(request,response);

  • Inside  WEB -INF

    We are developing the current version for better.
    These are what we have done....
    1)Check out the latest  code from subversion.
    2) Now, using Jdeveloper, open up an existing application
    3) point it to the *.jws JavaWebStart file that should pull in all the application data need to compile and deploy  the code.
    4) add password weblogic1 and listen address (RUN> Start Server Instance)
    5) View Content,Web Content, WEB -INF
    What is next step?

  • Can we downlod jar from WEB-INF/lib using webstart?

    Hi,
    Can we down jars which are in WEB-INF/lib directory
    using jnlp (webstart)?

    I got the basic concept of webstart.
    I can download jar only if publicly accessible (It
    should form a valid URL).Note an important distincion here..
    1) It is possible to form valid URL's that
    point to WEB-INF/lib.
    2) The server should not allow access, to
    that URL (any URL pointing inside WEB-INF/lib)
    and should return instead the HTTP code that says
    'not allowed/barred/forbidden'
    There is a big difference between a[b] valid URL,
    and a valid URL pointing to a forbidden resource.
    But yes, you seem to understand correctly,
    that the jar's for web-start cannot be loaded
    back to the client, from this directory.
    Thanks for your help.You're welcome.

  • [JHS 10.1.3] Pages in WEB-INF

    Hi,
    I am generating a project using JHeadstart 10.1.3
    with the default setting for the UI Pages directory (/WEB-INF/page)
    When I try to deploy to OC4J standalone, the pages in the WEB-INF directory
    are not accessible.
    I read that I have to construct a index.jspx file that forwards to
    the first page (Home.jspx)
    This is my index.jspx:
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0">
    <jsp:scriptlet> request.getRequestDispatcher("WEB-INF/page/Home.jspx").forward(request,response);
    </jsp:scriptlet>
    </jsp:root>
    This works, but I now have the problem of not getting a valid FacesContext:
    500 Internal Server Error
    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Cannot find FacesContext
         at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentTag.doStartTag(UIComponentTag.java:405)

    What is the required way of setting up the forward (and having a valid FacesContext)?

    Cliff,
    Sorry for the late reply.
    As far as I know, having JSF pages in WEB-INF is no problem, as long as you run them with /faces/ in the URL (for example: http://localhost:8988/MyProject-ViewController-context-root/faces/WEB-INF/page/Employees.jspx).
    This sounds like a JDeveloper/ADF issue or an OC4J/J2EE issue that is not related to JHeadstart. To simplify the test case, you could create a simple drag-and-drop ADF application without JHeadstart and see if the same problem occurs there. Can you please log a TAR at MetaLink ( http://metalink.oracle.com/ ), or ask this question at the JDeveloper forum at http://otn.oracle.com/discussionforums/jdev.html or the OC4J/J2EE forum at OC4J ?

  • Pros and Cons of putting jspx pages under WEB-INF

    Greetings All,
    I have been using JHeadstart release 10.1.3 Prod for a while now and was generating pages in various subdirectories under WEB-INF/pages/ and things are working fine.
    However, recently I came across a post in jDeveloper forum Re: Access JSF Pages within WEB-INF directory where Frank Nimphius has mentioned that there is no sense in putting JSP files that are used with JSF into WEB-INF.
    I know that in struts world it makes sense to put the jsp files under WEB-INF to prevent the users from directly accessing them and force them to access them only via struts actions/navigation rules; but in JSF world we anyway expose the jspx names to the user and in-fact if we keep the pages under WEB-INF the url to access the pages also contains 'faces/WEB-INF/...'
    Thus, I would like to get opinion from various experienced professionals participating in this forum and more so from JHeadStart team members on Pros and Cons of putting jspx pages under WEB-INF
    regards - rutwik

    Rutwik,
    From your reply it seems that, for now, there should not be any impact on us as long as we don't upgrade to JDeveloper 10.1.3.1, as anyway the current JHS version is not certified against it.
    Correct.
    However, to be compatible with future releases of JHS and JDeveloper, will it be good to change the location of pages in our JHeadStart definitions to move them a directories above the WEB-INF etc and re-run the JHeadStart generators?
    Yes.
    Or, will the patch take care of modifying the current JHeadStart definations?
    No, Service Update 1 has a different default value for the pages dir , it is now /pages/ instead of /WEB-INF/page/, that's all.
    Also, with this patch, will we be able to upgrade to jDeveloper 10.1.3.1, which we would like to do once we have a production release?
    Yes, Service Update 1 is compatible with JDev 10.1.3.1

    Hello,
    Were you able to find out the cause of the problem you were having with the "/WEB-INF/struts-html.tld" error?
    I'm stuck for a while on this problem, your input would help a great deal.

  • When is it mandatory to create a taskflow under WEB-INF folder?

    Hi,
    Today, I accidentally created a taskflow with a folder structure which is not under WEB-INF. To my surprise it is working. :)
    1) Is it safe practice to create a taskflow not under WEB-INF folder?
    2) When is it mandatory to create a taskflow under WEB-INF folder?
    Thanks,
    Srini

    Placing the taskflow in a) inside WEB-INF or b) outside WEB-INF folder will work as expected.
    But when a taskflow is placed inside the WEB-INF folder, it is secure.
    The blog post by Andrejus Baranovskis (http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2011/02/beware-of-hackers-keep-adf-task-flows.html) suggested by Vinod has the detailed information regarding this.
    Thanks,
