JSF Table component Hide/Show Details question

When you include a detailsStamp facet in your table, the "Details" column always appears as the first column allowing to disclose the details. Is there anyway to prevent the "Details" column from appearing and triggering this disclosure via another link within the row in the table? I would like to have a row in the table where one of the columns is something like:
Joe User [show details]
Where [show details] is a link that would trigger the discloser of the details for that row. Is this currently possible? If not, are there any plans to add this as functionality of the table component? I think users of the component are going to require more flexibility when using the Show/Hide details feature of the table component.

True and thanks for the response. My first "work around" attempt was to use a showDetail component to accomplish what I am looking for. That had two drawbacks. 1.)When I used that in the table, it didn't disclose when I clicked it. However, if I re-navigated to the page it was disclosed (probably a partial page rendering thing). 2.) When it WAS disclosed, the detail information was restricted to that single cell in the column.
I could use a commandLink/renderend attribute approach as suggested but that has 2 drawbacks as well. It also would be restricted to showing the details in a single cell since I can't see anyway to do a colspan with a column component. I would also lose the ability to "show all/hide all" unless I implement this logic myself.
I really need more flexibility in the table component.
Any other suggestions?

I want to display the content of a database table with a large number of rows. The table component should be able to navigate through the entire table content, but building only a small ResultSet and dinamically populate it with data as we perform navigation.

Thanks for the answer.
But data scroller just takes a ResultSet and display it with navigation. It doesn't know about the total number of rows in the table. It only display the number of records in the ResultSet.
What I am looking for is a data scroller which based on some input parameters knows how to split the table in several ResultSets, dinamically change the ResultSet and display the total number of rows in the table and not in the current ResultSet.

Error while trying to search in advanced table with hide/show region

Hi
I have search region and a results table with a hide.show in it.I did a search initially and got the results.I clicked on the hide/show region to see the details.
I put another search criteria in the search region and tried to do a search.
I am getting the following error
The search cannot be executed because the table has pending changes that would be lost...
Can anybody help me on this please....

Any setter/getter method being used on hide/show action? How are you enabling the details? Is there a transient column in your VO?

You normally use the HTML 'title' attribute for this. Almost every JSF HTML component also supports it.

Knowing which Row was selected when Hide/Show is clicked

I have an advanced table, with some search criteria that works. I have added a "detail" flag and when I click the link Hide/Show, the details are displayed.
How can I get in the code which Hide/Show link was clicked? I am more interesting in getting the Row from the VO which the Hide/Show link was clicked?
When I get the "event" parameter from the pageContext (pageContext.getParameter("event") ) it returns "hide" or "show", but I don't know which was row that was clicked.
What I am trying to accomplish is the following. In my advanced table I have "Select" checkBoxes. I want to add the "Hide/Show details" functionality and try to have the details displayed in an advanced table with its own "Select" checkBoxes.
Can it be done?

Create a Primary Key in View Object's Query for the table.
Now to know on which row hide/show has been clicked you need to capture the row reference which is nothing but Primary Key for that row.
Use this code in processformrequest:

Pagination - hibernate with JSF table using ObjectListDataProvider

Hello All,
How we can use the JSF table component & pagination option avilable in JSC for records pagination using ObjectListDataProvider? Let say I have 100 recorsd and I want to do pagination of them of Page Size = 5 (total pages 20), then how to proceed?
We have the hibernate working with JSC, and now I am looking for this advanced implementation using JSC & Hibernate.

I have a problem with pagination and hibernate and I want to take a ride on your question: when the page is loaded I load all data from database. Then I have a filter I made that retrieves some of the data and reloads the table, and that works fine. But when I hit the next page button, the table goes to second page, but without the filter, i.e, with all data again.
I think it has someting to do with the place where I do the initial load, with full data. I've put this code in _init:

Accessing list of DISPLAY objects in a table component.

I need to access the list of objects that are actually displayed currently in the table. The table uses pagination so there are other table elements not displayed and I do not want those.

I've been working with this method and it works good with pagination as far as you do not start to sort the table... it starts to append new rows at the end.
The only workaround I've found so far is to call clearSort() before getting the ids... but that is just partially nice...
So, maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe there is a bug that could be fixed in 1.2?

How to get Hide/Show using details in advanced table

Hi,
I develeoped one custom page using advanced table region and i used detail from advanced table for getting hide/show functionaliy in one column in that table. It is showing hide/show properly..but if I click on Show it is not doing any action..pls let me need to write any code in CO for getting action..

If you are using the same VO and you execute in on page load then it must populate all view attribute.
Check in back end that is there any data in that VO attribute exists or not.

Problem in Hide/Show in a Table Row

Hi,
i have to create 4 pages and each page has a table region with displaying records and a column "LINK" to go to the next page with the parameters from that record. Every link has a batchId and one another Id as parameter to next page. The next page reads the parameters and queries the corresponding table for details of that results table region contained in that page.
Thus i have 4 pages with 4 table regions and each table region is associated with a view object which is based on an EO connected with a database table. (4 VO's).
Now in every table i have a detail region (hide/show) which shows error records for a row ....
thus there are 4 ViewLinks for all 4 VO to a single ERROR VO.
I have 4 instances of ERRORVO in AM like ERRORVO1, ERRORVO2, ERRORVO3, ERRORVO4.
Now, the hide/show region is working properly on the first 3 pages with proper navigation to pages.
Then, i created the 4th page and created the table region in the 4th page.
From the 3rd page i have passed 2 parameters through the link and also retainAM=Y.
i have captured both parametres and call a method to populate data in table of 4th page.
Successfully done..running properly....
Now i added the detail region which is a table as previous pages in the 4th page with ERRORVO4...
Then when i run the page i get the 1st page and thrugh link i move to 2nd and to 3rd page. But when i click on the link on 3rd page to move to 4th page i m getting "NullPointerException" with "check Inner table properties"
Now i removed the detail region (Hide/show) only from the 4th page and again run the page . its working properly for all 4 pages with proper navigation but i am not able to see errors with hide/show on 4th page and it is required.
i m not getting what could be the reason...
do i need to remove retainAM=Y from the page navigation links.?????
and is there anything like we cant create more no. of instances (4) of a single VO in an AM.....????
Any alternative for showing the errors on 4th page with Hide/Show or without Hide/Show????

Issue with appending data to JSF HTML - Data Table Component

I am following the article from Oracle Magazine title Generating a JSF Data Table:

Enable hide/show only for selected rows for table in table

I have an advanced table with a detail table connected by a view link. This adds a "Details" column of Hide/Show links on the left of the table to expand the inner-table for each row of the outer-table. The goal is to have the hide/show in the outer table, only when there is data for the outer row in the detail region.
Normally, hide/show appears for all rows in the outer table.

In the processRequest method of the controller execute the query of the Outer table region and check is there any row or not.
If yes then do nothing else hide the bean i.e. hide/show bean. You need to do PPR for this.

Hide a column in one table view but show it in another

I need to hide a column in one tables view but show it in another table view in the same report. Is this possible?

Hi VNC,
If you're crafty with javascript, you could probably write a script that would set the CSS property DISPLAY to NONE to hide the column in the table view you didn't want but leave it there in the view you did want.
