The version of Oracle9i JDeveloper that you are using is the pre-production Release Candidate. Are you able to download the production version from OTN? We made many changes between the release candidate and production and I suspect that your project will work 'out of the box' with the production version. If it does not, I will be able to help you.

Is it possible to deploy Java application in Oracle 9iAS

We have a stadard 3-tier system implemented in Java with a presentation-tier(servlets, JSP), middle-tier(business logic, transactions) and a data-tier(Java classes that hold all SQL and so on).
NB We're NOT using EJB's!
For the moment we are running Oracle HTTP server with Apache, Jserv, Ojsp and JRE 1.2.2.
We are now interested in using Oracle 9iAS as application server and we have a few questions about it.
1) Is it possible to to run our Java-code inside Oracle 9iAS?
2) If it is possible, should we run the servlets and JSP there too?

An interesting fact about 9iAS - unless you do some work to change things around, 9iAS = Apache/JServ. So yes you can deploy your app to it. However, OJSP is a technet product so don't expect any tech support. And Oracle won't let you upgrade JServ to Tomcat, so don't expect Servlet 2.2. And if you want to use Orace Servlet Engine to get Servlet 2.2, you might run into some deployment and performance issues. Read my posting in the 9i Application Server forum.
If, however, you try and meet with more success than I have so far, I will be happy to learn from your experience <grin>.

Simple Question - How do I deploy custom taglibs to Oracle 9iAS r2?

Simple question.
There are lots of simple examples on JSP custom tags that have
a .tld file, a .java file with the handler class, and a .jsp
file that calls the custom tag to test it.
My question is, lets say I have a .tld file, a .java file and
a .jsp file for a tag example. How do I deploy them to
Oracle 9iAS r2? I'd like to code an example and deploy it,
but I'm stuck. I'm using Jdeveloper 9i, and have compiled the
.java file and included it and the .tld in a Custom Taglib JAR.
How is this JAR deployed to Oracle 9iAS, considering that the
Enterprise Manager only deploys WAR and EAR files? How do
a configure a web app to use the custom tags...
This should be simple -- maybe its too simple so I'm stuck!

Deploy from Jdev3.2

I have an application developed with jdev3.2 working ok on tomcat, i've been requested to install it to 9ias rel 2. I've tried unsuccesfully to deploy the app. to the oc4j standalone that comes with jdev9i.
The aplication throws me:
Error Message: org.w3c.dom.NodeList oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLNode.getChildren()
It's possible to deploy a Jdev3.2 application in this new server? Can you tell me please how can it be done?

There was a bug in 3.1 where you had to manually deploy your .ser files using loadjava, but I believe that was fixed in 3.2.
You say the problem does not happen consistently: that for some files the .ser is deployed, and for others it is not. Is there any pattern you can see to the files it does NOT deploy for?
As a workaround, you can certainly use loadjava to load the .ser files.

CMP Entity Beans in Oracle 9iAS

Hi!
I've deployed entity beans into Oracle 9iAS, but keep getting the following error each time I try to lookup the bean:
"javax.naming.NamingException: Unknown reasons [Root exception is org.omg.CORBA.UNKNOWN: minor code: 16 completed: Maybe]"
The JNDI name of the bean are ok and I'm calling it correctly. I'm calling my a Session Bean in a similar way and it works fine.
I'm using JDevloper 3.2.3 to deploy the beans and OAS version is 1.0.2.2.

OC4J implements major portion of the EJB 2.0 PFD1 specification.
It supports the new container contract and persistence model in PFD1, along with associated new XML DD tags, so yes, it does support abstract implementation EJB classes and abstract accessors definitions.
It does not support the latest EJB 2.0 PFD2 modifications and also does not support the local/remote interface model, EJB-QL, home methods, etc.

JSP session lost - Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.1

I have a JSP application running under Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.1 on a Windows 2000 server.
Upon successful login to the application, a new browser window is opened for the application and the parent browser is redirected to a benign static HTML page. The new browser window allows us to present the illusion of a captive application - the 'application' browser window is not resizable and does not have a tool bars.
The login jsp creates several session scope objects. These session scope objects are used by the core application jsps interfaced through the application browser.
In the test enviroment the application functions as expected.
In the production environment sessions appear to terminate immediately following login. All session scope objects are null in the jsp page - mainMenu.jsp - that serves as the application entry point in the new browser window. Application scope objects are not null in this initial jsp. Upon a subsequent access to login.jsp, the application_onStart event is triggered, followed by a session_onStart event and the failure of mainMenu.jsp due to null session scoped objects. My initial thought was that that this is a cookie problem...client browser not accepting cookies but was not the case.
Any ideas on how to diagnose this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I am having a similar problem. When I use a session-scoped bean to retain user info from page to page, the session bean appears to be re-instantiated at each page.
An earlier attempt used session.set/getAttribute to store the same info. This one worked in the development environment (Jdev), but not when deployed on the App Server.
Was your issue resolved? Is it related to different versions of the container being in place (as is hinted at in related posts)?

Cannot deploy a shared library from jdeveloper to oracle webcenter spaces

Hi guys,
i used oracle jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 with extendwebcenterspaces workspace. I use WebcenterSpacesSharedLibExtension project.
I have deployed with jdeveloper directly to webcenter by using a connection and deployed as shared library.
Afther that i used DesignWebcenterSpaces and deployed with ant scripts: clean stage and deploy as shared lib
I get an error on deployment:

Application Ear file deployment on Oracle 9ias(9.0.3)

Hi,
I'm trying to deploy an application (JSP + BC4J) under Oracle 9ias using the Enterprise Manager (EM).
No error occurs during the process but I can not load the application with internet explorer.
the following message appears : "Not Found
The requested URL /AgatteWF/index.jsp was not found on this server."
Deploying the application under OC4J standalone with the same ear file works fine.
Does anyone got that problem ?

I already had a look to the log files.
They don't show any error.
the webcontext is correct but index.jsp is not placed under the "WEB_INF" directory.
I don't think that's the reason of the problem 'cause i succeeded once to deploy the same application under the IAS.
I made the same operations i did before (creating a new oc4j instance under IAS after having dropped the old one, deploying the application, creating the data source...)
But i don't know why it doesn't work this time.

We have Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.0.0 on Tru64Unix, two simple questions
1) Can we install OC4J on Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.0.0
2) How can RMI applilcations be deployed on Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.0.0 with or without OC4J. I mean is RMI naming service
is available on 9iAS that we can avoid running rmiregistry manually.

Oracle IAS 9i is Glibc 2.1 based, as opposed to Oracle9i EE, which is Glibc 2.2 based. You need to install glibc 2.1 stubs which can be downloaded from their patch site.

You don't need to get the output writer "out1". you can use "out" in your scriplets the same way as "request" and "response".
