JSP Import Error

I'm very new to Netweaver, java and JSP, so please forgive me for what is hopefully a very simple question.
I've created a simple JSP page that needs 2 external JAR files to run.
<%@ page import="org.apache.commons.codec.binary.Base64" %>
<%@ page import="org.apache.commons.ssl.PKCS8Key" %>
I've included these 2 JARS in my class path of my Web Project:
commons-codec-1.3.jar
not-yet-commons-ssl-0.3.10.jar
They get included in the WAR file under web-inf-->classes and the EAR file has the WAR in it when I deploy it.  However, I'm getting a syntax error when I run the JSP:
package org.apache.commons.codec.binary does not exist
import org.apache.commons.codec.binary.Base64;
package org.apache.commons.ssl does not exist
import org.apache.commons.ssl.PKCS8Key;
Can someone please explain to me how I'm supposed to include these JAR files correctly?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi,
the JAR-Files should be located under WEB-INF/lib.
If the lib directory does not exist create it manually using the resource perspective of NWDS. Then copy or better move the JAR Files to the location WEB-INF/lib. After that correct the JAVA Build Path so that the JARs are found in the new location.
If your imports work in NWDS you should be able to build WAR and EAR. Redeploy the EAR and your JSPs should work without errors
Cheers

  • Jsp import package error after upgrading to jdk1.4.2_08 and tomcat 5.0

    I am trying to upgrade the jdk and tomcat from 1.3/3.3 to 1.4/5.0.
    My jsp imports worked fine prior to the upgrade, but now I get the following:
    Jun 6, 2005 10:01:17 AM org.apache.jasper.compiler.Compiler generateClass
    SEVERE: Error compiling file: /C:/Tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost/Print//org/apac

    The package in the import statement "import com.adware.print.database.inquire.*" actually has no classes in it. The classes are contained in "import com.adware.print.database.inquire.controller.*". If I change the import statement everything works. The problem is that I have 100s of jsps. If there is a work-around outside of changing the import statements, that would be best.
    Can anyone help? Thanks.

    do you know what url is being looked up? the message is complaining that the url is starting with the string "an]", which seems pretty bogus.

  • JSP : Tiles Error tag.getAsString : component context is not defined

    JSP : Tiles Error tag.getAsString : component context is not defined
    Im working with Struts 1.1 and Tiles, under Tomcat 5.0.16
    My application works fine using Struts 1.1 alone, however, when attempting to run the application in a Tiles environment, I get an error:

    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Error - tag.getAsString : component context is not defined. Check tag syntax

    I have defined this in my tiles-defs.xml file, and as far as I can tell, everything else is configured properly (I have looked over the included Struts document examples, and others on the web, and I seem to have everything configured identically).
    What am I missing???
    I have created a series of mostly empty JSP files, for simplicity sake.
    JSP FILES:

    I found an entry in the Mail Archive for Struts. I got it working. My working code is below. You need to in the base JSP import the header and put the 'title' out to it.
    tiles:def file:
    <!DOCTYPE tiles-definitions PUBLIC
    "-//Apache Software Foundation//DTD Tiles Configuration 1.1//EN"
    "http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/dtds/tiles-config_1_1.dtd">

    <put name="title" value ="${title}"/>
    <put name="header" value="/common/header.jsp"/>
    <put name="message" value="/common/message.jsp"/>
    <put name="content" value="${content}"/>
    <put name="navbar" value="/common/navbar.jsp"/>
    </definition>
    <definition name="petstore.Login" extends=".petstore.Base" >
    <put name="title" value="Login Page" />
    <put name="content" value="/Logon.jsp"/>
    <put name="test1" value="test1value"/>
    </definition>
    base tile def:
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-tiles.tld" prefix="tiles"%>
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <html:html>
    <head>
    <html:base/>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
    <title>pet store common (jsp)</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <tiles:insert attribute="header">
    <%-- both of these attributes are accessible from header.jsp It works!!! --%>
    <tiles:put name="title" beanName="title" beanScope="tile" />
    <tiles:put name="test1" beanName="test1" beanScope="tile" />
    </tiles:insert>
    <%-- <tiles:get name="header" /> --%>
    <tiles:get name="message" />
    <tiles:get name="content" />
    <tiles:get name="navbar" />
    </body>
    </html:html>
    Getting access to the title value in the header.jsp file:
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld" prefix="bean"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-html.tld" prefix="html"%>

  • Tomcat 5.0 JSP ServiceFactory Error

    Hi,
    I am running Apache 2, Tomcat 5.0, Axis on a server for deploying webservics. When I execute a command line java program it works just fine, but When I attempt to use this same code from a JSP it throws a ServiceException for ServiceFactory.newInstance at runtime. The code Find2p is common to both the Command Line and the JSP. For detail Find2p.java is listed way below.
    Any insight into this error would be greatly appreciated, if more info is need I would happily add it to this discussion.

  • JSP import fails unless Jars are included in the PAR

    Hello,
    We have a simple EP6 iView for displaying the Universal Worklist entries (UWL) using a JSPDynPage.
    We import the UWL library symbols and compile/use them in the Java code without problems (e.g. import com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.Item; )
    The following entry is made in the portalapp.xml file to make sure the UWL symbols are found at runtime:
         <property name="ServicesReference" value="SAPJ2EE::library:tckmcbc.uwl~api"/>
    The problem occurs when we try to import the UWL symbols into our JSP with this code:
         <%@ page import="com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.Item" %>
    The UWL symbols are just not found.  Here are the exception headers:
    #1#com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.PortalComponentException: Error in service call of Resource
    Component : pcd:portal_content/MikesFolder/com.lds.mlp.MikesTest1
    #1#com.sapportals.portal.prt.servlets_jsp.server.compiler.CompilingException: Error occurs during the rendering of jsp component

    import com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.Item;
                                    ^
    1 error
    Now if I add the bc.uwl.service.api_api.jar into PORTAL-INFlib everything is fine.  However this seems like such a 'hack'.  We really shouldn't be distributing a system file in our PAR.
    This person seems to have had the same problem with the system mail jars ( JSP MAIL ERROR ).
    Can anyone please shed some light on this problem?  Do we really have to distribute the system jars to make this JSP import work properly?
    Thanks & Cheers,
    Mike Pastor
    "always generous with points"

    Hi,
    This is exactly the portalapp.xml of the sap application com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.par
    check out the difference between this and yours?
    Dont miss out on anything important here. I think it should work.
    If you are still facing problem only while using in jsp I have a cure.
    Write a clean java class in your app which queries the apis in this jar.
    Also add sharing reference to this application in your portalapp.xml. Query your class in your jsp rather than the "standard jar"

  • Simple JSP gives Error Message

    The following is a simple welcome.jsp file that I am trying to run on a local J2EE sever. As you can see it tries to import classes one being the FaqCategories.class which is located in the folder Ch03 of the WEB-INF directory. When I call the page up on the browser It gives me that it does not recognize the   FaqCategories class and gives an associative error message.   I am wondering why(Is the import statement wrong? Did I put the class in the wrong directory? Etc... I followed everything the book told me to a que and I still received an error.     <&@ page errorPage="/WEB-INF/errorPage.jsp" import="java.util.Iterator,Ch03.FaqCategories" %>   <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">  <html> <head> <title>Java FAQ Welcome Page</title> </head>  <body> <h1>Java FAQ Welcome Page</h1> Welcome to the Java FAQ  <%! FaqCategories faqs = new FaqCategories(); %> Click a link below for answers to the given topic. <% Iterator categories = faqs.getAllCategories(); while(categories.hasNext()) { String category = (String) categories.next(); %> <a href="<%= replaceUnderscore(category) %>.jsp"><%= category
    %></a> <% } %> <%@ include file="/WEB-INF/footer.jspf" %> </body> </html>  <%! public String replaceUnderscore(String s) { return s.replace(' ','_'); } %>

    Iterator categories = faqs.getAllCategories();I think faqs.getAllCategories() seems like a method that returns a Collection class.
    should that be replaced by faqs.getAllCategories().iterator()?
    I think you should post your stacktrace.

    note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/5.5.17 logs

    Maybe print out from the exceptions in the conexionBD directly, even do a printStackTrace. Since the exceptions are encapulated it is hard to tell. Your setup for the database looks good. Not sure about class loading this way and how it will pool. I would suggest using the JNDI capability available from the context administration of Tomcat.

  • Weblogic 9 and JSP compiler errors

    Hello everyone,
              I am having problems with my Jsps in my EAR file deployed on WL 9.0.
              I have a Jsp called upms.jsp that contains the following code snippets:
              After my import statements, I have some code that creates a resource bundle that accesses a properties file:
               <%!
                   ResourceBundle bundle = null;
                   public void jspInit() {
                   bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle("conf.properties");
              %>
              I get an error from the above code:
              upms.jsp:3:11: 'try' statement has neither 'catch' nor 'finally' clause
                        import="java.util.ResourceBundle"
              ^----------------------^
              I am totally clueless as to what that error means.
              Next I declare a bean I use in the jsp:
                   <jsp:useBean
                        id="userPrefsManagerBean"
              class="controllers.beans.UserPreferencesManagerBean"
                   scope="session">
                   </jsp:useBean>
                   <jsp:setProperty name="userPrefsManagerBean" property="*" />
              I get these errors from the above portion:
              upms.jsp:27:3: The qualifier of this name is a package, which cannot contain fields.
                   <jsp:setProperty name="userPrefsManagerBean" property="*" />
              ^-------------^
              upms.jsp:27:3: The qualifier of this name is a package, which cannot contain fields.
                   <jsp:setProperty name="userPrefsManagerBean" property="*" />
              ^-------------^
              upms.jsp:27:3: Expression expected (found '.' instead)
                   <jsp:setProperty name="userPrefsManagerBean" property="*" />
              ^-------------^
              upms.jsp:27:3: Syntax error: expected ) (found 'class' instead)
                   <jsp:setProperty name="userPrefsManagerBean" property="*" />
              ^-------------^
              upms.jsp:27:3: Syntax error: expected <identifier> (found ')' instead)
                   <jsp:setProperty name="userPrefsManagerBean" property="*" />
              ^-------------^
              Has anyone encountered these before?
              This jsp worked perfectly well when I deployed my EAR file on JBoss...no such luck using Weblogic.
              Is there something I am missing here? I appreciate any help.
              Cheers, :-)
              M.

    Mildred,
              Two suggestions:
              1) use option weblogic.jspc's "-keepgenerated", you can keep the generated
              servlet's source code.
              Please paste it here.
              2) Can you create a simple reproducer(e.g. a war), and put it here, so that
              we can debug it and give more clues.
              To reproduce your issue, I write a simple a simple
              UserPreferencesManagerBean classs below :
              package controllers.beans;
              public class UserPreferencesManagerBean {
              private int p1;
              public void setP1(int p)
              p1 = p;
              public int getP1()
              return p1;
              But it works(oh, I run it under 910MP1).
              We cannot tell too much without your further information
              Thanks
              Leon

    put <security-constraint> tag also in your web.xml defining the <web-resource-collection>, <web-resource-name>, <url-pattern> and the
    <role-name>manager</role-name> inside <auth-constraint>, This role-name is important and you have to add this role in your tomcat-users.xml also. See sample web.xml in ..\webapps\manager\WEB-INF
    Dont know if this is the reason why ur problem is coming though,

  • FDMEE Import error "No periods were identified for loading data into table 'AIF_EBS_GL_BALANCES_STG'

    Hi,
    We are having trouble while importing one ledger 'GERMANY EUR GGAAP'. It works for Dec 2014 but while trying to import data for 2015 it gives an error.
    Import error shows " RuntimeError: No periods were identified for loading data into table 'AIF_EBS_GL_BALANCES_STG'."
    I tried all Knowledge docs from Oracle support but no luck. Please help us resolving this issue as its occurring in our Production system.
    I also checked all period settings under Data Management> Setup> Integration Setup > Global Mapping and Source Mapping and they all look correct.
    Also its only happening to one ledger rest all ledgers are working fine without any issues.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    there are some Support documents related to this issue.
    I would suggest you have a look to them.

  • How do I convert an excel (2008) document to Numbers?  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid"

    How can I convert an Excel (2008) document to Numbers.  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid.

    That extension identifies the most current Excel file format, a format that can be opened by Numbers '09 (and by Numbers '08).
    A check with Numbers '09 shows it capable of opening .xlsx files when right-clicked (and Numbers chose as the application to open, when double-clicked (if Numbers has been set as the default application to open this type of file, or when dragged to the Numbers icon in the dock.
    I see two possibilities for Numbers inability to open it and the message you receive:
    1. The file is not actually an Excel file, and the sender has added the .xlsx extension to the filename manually.
    2. The file is an Excel file, but has somehow been corrupted.
    Have you tried opening the file with a different application? The open source Office suites, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice and NeoOffice can also open .xlsx files. If they're unable to open this one, that would point toward the file itself being faulty. You can download these applications from their rspective websites, linked in the names above. All request a donation to support future development, but only Neo requires one to have been made recently, and that only for the current release (which won't be necessary to open .xlsx files).

    Barry

  • "Template import error: No VM configure file found" on brand new setup

    Previously, I posted Console does not launch OVM 3.1.1, Win7x32 Firefox15/IE8 - Empty .jnlp file which was about VM Console not launching. Since this is a new installation, and it seemed to be a unique problem, I scratched the whole installation and started again from scratch. Everything, including the NFS file server, was re-installed from scratch CD OS installation.
    The process is pretty straightforward once you're used to it, and in less than three hours I was ready again to import my first template (a template I had imported before). But now, I submit the the request, and almost immediately the process aborts. (You can see in the information below, that 1 second passes between the Import request (06:32:36) and the failure.)
    Thing is, it takes about three minutes, even locally on the web server, to get an index of that large file (tar tzf), and at completion, the vm config file is listed.
    Am I misreading the error? My web searches for enlightenment found only one good hit on this error, and in that case it appeared to be an "out of space" issue. In this case, though, I'm importing a 5GB tarfile into a 390GB, otherwise-empty file system, so I don't think that is the issue. The failure in ovs-agent.log is below. What other information may I provide to get to the bottom of this? (Thanks for any guidance/help, of course!)

    How did you get the template to where you staged it?
    I'd say the template is corrupt or you only have a partial template.
    I did notice the call to the template is based on the short name of the host. Can you confirm the VM manager can access the http path via short name?
