Hi,
Can I use JSP parameter form to the Paper report.
Like calling the paper report URL in the action=<" "> by passing the values selected in the jsp param form to the parameters in the paper report URL ?
Please give me the code.

you just have to define the report user parameters with the same name you use in the JSP parameter form and setting the action attribute of the Form tag like that(calling rwservlet) action="rwservlet" & method="get", then all form inputs will be concatenated to the rwservlet call and passed as parameters to the report.

I'm trying to write a statement that in the FROM clause, there is a formula, and i would like to assign conditions to this formula in the WHERE Clause
Ex:
SELECT DateValue(FLD_AS_STRING) FROM Table1 WHERE ???
I want the statement to convert the FLD_AS_STRING field (which is in string format) to Date format, and in the same time i want to only view fields that it's FLD_AS_STRING is greater than today's date (after it is converted to Date)?
How can i do that in this statement?

who do you mean "we"?Forum members that are quite fed up with people declaring their matters (more) urgent then other people's questions. I'm also one of them.
I just wanted to grab people's attention for helpA simple thread with an appropriate subject line that describes the problem in short and a message that includes enough information to develop a solution for said problem would suffice.
in the same time, it IS urgent, because my work is
based on the solution for this issue...So what about everybody's else work? Not as important as your task?

Jsp,servlet,bean question,please help

The Tomcat Web server set up like this.......
The directory structure is
e:/sampleapp/WEB-INF/classes
/lib
And the web.xml is in the WEB-INF for the use of ay potential servlet.
The basic understanding is that all the .java files go into the WEB-INF directory and the .class files go into the classes directory.
All the .jsp files go into the sampleapp directory.Till here is correct I feel.
Now for my qustion......
I plan to use jsp,servlet and beans for a potential web application...,where do all these files go?,just the same as above or is there a difference.
Hope that I have given a reasonable explaination to my question.

HTML files, JAR files, images files, etc. will go into

where tomcat can load it. Or use the admin tool to
load it. If you make a .WAR file with a corresponding
web.xml file in it, it will simplify loading it into
tomcat. It also will help you do your servlet

The bean files are put into a package right,so they should be put into the WEB-INF/classes/<package name>
What about The servlet files...... they are just put into the WEB-INF/classes/ directory????

A FORMS question please.

Apologies if this question doesnt come in this forum.
I have Oracle Forms 9i,and have 5 field displayed horizontally.
When I tab,the cursor goes from Field1,Field2,Field4,Field5.
It skips Field3.
What do i need to modify in the property pallette of FIELD3,
so that the cursor comes on this too

JSP multiple form question

Hi
I have to create a multiple page user input form, i was wondering if there was a way to set the target to a div tag when submitting the form, so that it looks like the way an ajax application.
Cannot use ajax cause i am getting javascript unknown runtime errors if i have the form element inside the div tag.

i just read that too, and was about to edit my response :)
I dont want to rebuild the entire page, just the section that the form displays in, currently it is in a div tag.
if it was just static content, ajax would definitely be simple, but i cannot submit the form to set the new session bean values that the user has entered. because the ajax doesnt load if there is a form element in the div tag. if i place the form element outside the div tag which innerhtml changes, then the button doesnt recognise the form name.
so i am continuing my search for another way.

Auto-re-action method Question (Please Urgent)

I have very quick question about Auto-re-action method CCMS, I setup method for "server dialog response time" and changed threshold value to become red and alert create, when I double click on it it shows 10 Alerts with status "Action_Faled" its suposed to be "Action Required" or Action-Running...

Reports Portlet Parameter Form LOV Format

Hi,
I have created several LOV's that I want to use in the Reports Portlet Parameter Form for running Oracle Reports, but the format I am choosing when creating the LOV's is not showing correctly on the parameter form. I am picking 'Check Box' and 'Radio Group' for several of the LOV's, but they are still displaying as Dropdowns on the parameter for. Am I doing something wrong here, can the parameter form show check boxes and radio buttons?

i am afraid the answer to both questions is 'no'. i would suggest you create some HTML/JSP parameter forms for your reports. the parameter form editor of reports is very limited and for more complex requirements we suggest using other tools (or the JSP web source of reports, which is available from 9i onwards).

JSP HTML parameter form to call report - Dependent drop down list

I have a report parameter form developed using HTML & JSP to call oracle reports6i.
First parameter "STATES", Second Parameter "CITY"
I have a master-detail relation betwen STATE & CITY table.
I want the parameter form drop down lists dependant. ie if the user chang STATE value in the first drop down, the second drop down list CITY shoud
change automatically.

Vimal,
This is not functionality that's available in the Reports generated parameter form. In order to do this you'll need to build the parameter form yourself as a true HTML form and code the javascript to link the fields.

Oracle Reports 10.1.2.3 output shows question marks, parameter form shows correct Arabic

Following is our environment
Oracle Application Server     10.1.2.3.0
Microsoft Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2
Oracle Database 11.2.0.2.0
NLS_LANG     AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256
When client runs the report on browser (IE), the parameter form appears fine with Arabic characters.
Inserting the parameters in Arabic also look fine and characters display in Arabic but when report is generated, the output shows the inserted parameters as ????
On server, regional settings are ALL Arabic. Also the registry has NLS_LANG setting of AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256.
Report output is same for both html and pdf formats. For PDF subetting, uifont.ali file has been modified but the issue does not seem to be PDF related since the html format reports also shows ???
It is a 3 tier setup hence there is no question of having NLS_LANG registry settings for client PCs that are running Windows OS with Arabic regional settings that match the server.
Interestingly, the same report when run from a different application server having same architecture runs fine. The other application server has exact same version of OAS. Database supports Arabic and is configured as such.I tried comparing the different configuration files on both servers but apparently I cannot find the place where I should change something for the reports to show correct Arabic.

I think you misunderstood me. I understand that it is all volunteer work and I never said I was looking for "quick" or "sure" response. I did not even use the words IMMEDIATE or URGENT in my post. I found it strange because I personally believe that there are many volunteers providing great support to others and yet my post somehow went unnoticed. In my personal opinion, however, if you do not wish to reply then you should just ignore rather than being rude. No one can force anyone to do the good work that people are doing here at oracle forums and they are all doing this out of choice. Let me also assure you that me and people like myself really appreciate their efforts.
Having said that, I wish you had taken time to read about my issue. There is infact a registry setting that specifies the NLS_LANG and it is already set under both Infrastructure and Middle Tier in the registry. I mentioned it earlier. The value is AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256 and I believe this is correct for Arabic characters.
What is confusing for me is the fact that if browser was not capable of showing Arabic characters then the static Arabic words in the reports layout (field name for instance) would also show as garbage or question marks. They appear to be fine. Since we are just passing some parameters in Arabic language and not saving anything in the database, the DB characterset does not come into play for now. Although the DB characterset is also set to store Arabic data. We are displaying the parameters that we are passing through the parameter form in the output of the report and this is where we see question marks (????).
Finally, if it was a browser issue or a DB characterset issue, then in my limited knowledge, I believe that the report that we are running using the other Application Server that is pointing to the same database should also show the same behaviour. That is not the case as it displays the same report perfectly. Client machine is the same in both cases using Windows 7 and IE as browser.

Above URLs are examples. The point I am trying to make here is that the issue has to be with the new application server and it cannot be registry settings as I have double checked the entry and it exists in all Oracle Homes ie Infrastructure and Middle Tier. So maybe it is some configuration file setting that I am missing here.

Beginner JSP / Forms question

I'm just starting with jsps and I've got a pretty simple question. In my jsp I generate a form with two fields: age and weight. I'm wondering what the best method is for handling the users response. Two specific questions: (1) I'm currently handling the response in the same jsp which generates the form. Is this bad, uh, form? (2) To differentiate between the 'initial' request and the request resulting from the users form submission I'm arbitrarily checking whether the value of the 'age' parameter is null. Is there a better way to do that? Thanks in advance for any thoughts on these issues.

Yeah, that is fine for early JSPs (on both questions).
A couple of thoughts:
1) What if the user submits a weight but not an age? You should probably check if either of the two inputs are null.
2) This design is fine for smaller applications (it is called the Model 1 application design). For more complex applications, using Model 2 (Model - View - Controller or MVC) pattern is much better.
Basically you use a combination of Servlets and JSPs. One servlet is the target of all your links and forms - this is the Controller. Based on parameters and other conditions, the controller determines where the page should go next, and accesses the business logic (other classes that get/store data or calculates results. These other classes are the Model) , and passes this information to the the JSP needed to display that information (the View).
This helps JSPs stay small and manageable, since adding to much logic in a JSP means writing scriptlets, which become tough to maintain later on. It takes more work up front, but for larger apps and over longer periods of time (when it becomes time to update the look, or fix bugs) it makes a lot of sense.

How to run .JSP 9iReport from web with Parameter Form

Hi,
I m trying to run a .JSP 9ireport from the web. now i have two problems.
1. how do i display a parameter form from the web, meaning when the user clicks on the link to the report a parameter form should be displayed and the report should give the output for those parameters.
2. how do i format the report output which i get in the web in pages, with a link called "NEXT" which upon clicking will take the user to the next page.

1. Take a look "Building a reports with a Parameter Form" in "Getting Started with Oracle9i Reports" in otn (URL: http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/index.html)
2. Normally web page doesn't have page concept. If you want to define the page for web, you need to do it yourself in the jsp. However, we do support paper based report that supports page and can be deployed on the web. Use pagestream=yes in the URL request.
