Creating a link to text file in a tomcat server not working in JSP webapp
I am using netbeans to create an web application within my desktop, and then I load the build/web folder to a tomcat server to test the application. Everything works fine. However, when I try to link up my JSP pages to text files (.txt) create by the application on the server, I seem to be getting files that might be kept in a terminal.
When I get the Real path of the servlet context, I find that it is to a C:\ type file rather than a //hostname type of directory. So obviously those files are not being reached.
Does anybody know how to deal this problem? There are a number of ways to get to the Flash Global Security settings dialog.
My favourite way is just to double click on a Captivate SWF (not the HTM file) to open it in a web browser, then right click on the playing screen to get the Flash context menu. On the context menu, click the Global Settings option.
In the web page that opens, click the link on the left to Global Security Settings.
Add the folder or drive location of your published Captivate content to the Trusted Locations. -
Reloading a new JSP/Jar in Tomcat Server
HI,
I face these problems now.
My environment is Oracle Jdev 3.2.3 for JSP development. Tomcat4.0.1 as Application server plugged into IIS webserver and Using oracle 8i as the database
1. Whenever I update my JSP's and Application jar files, I copy from staging area to the deployment Tomcat Server application specific directories. The files are getting copied(overwritten). After that when i try to access my context/application in Tomcat server, my browser simply tries to browse and doesn't bring up the homepage of my application(say index.jsp).
I need to stop the tomcat server and restart again. Then I get it.
Is there anyone who came across this error and possibly help me to solve this?
2. I have a JSP (say emplist) which shows all the employees details with empno, ename, depyno and sal as 4 columns.
I have a up and down arrow images near the column names. Upon clicking it, it will call the same page and sort the column either desc or asc based on the previous display order. The column on which the Arrow button displayed is stored in session variable.
This sorting in JSP perfectly works in JDeveloper and when i run using WebToGo Server. But when i deployed in Tomcat,This sorting doesn't work.
The page simply stands. and when i go back and front browsing my other pages of application, i lose the position of the arrow button and it behaves unexpectedly by showing up in some other columns.
is there any reason for this kind of behaviour?
3. In my JSP files, I log the user actions into a text file in the server. IN WTG, I am able to specify the path of the output directory.
But in Tomcat Server, by default the output files are getting created in C:/Tomcat/bin directory.
I donno how to set an output directory, where the files will be written to and set an input directory from where my custom application properties files will be read from.
Can anyone help me in telling in which file and what attributes, i need to set the input and output directory path in Tomcat Server?
Can someone help me in giving suggestions or solutions for the above problems?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Thanks

How to move the JSP report in local Tomcat server to test instance-reg
Dear All:
I have developed a self service report using JSP for Leave details of an employee.
Right now the report is in my local system tomcat server how can i register/move it into the test instance (ie.DEV) of Oracle apps .
can any of you let me know this plsssssssssss.........
with warm regards
GeethaGeetha,
I don't want to seem unhelpful, but I don't see the relevance to Apex in your question, this forums is specifically for Apex related questions therefore you would have more chance of a useful answer if you posted your question in a JSP/Tomcat related forum. -
Calling a external Java method from JSP - using Tomcat server
Hi all,
I am trying to call a method in an external Java file from my JSP. I am using Tomcat server.
I have my class within the package package "mypackage" and it is called myclass.class. It has only one static method mymethod() which reads from a file and writes to a file.
I compiled the java class and I put the class file under webapps/ROOT/web-inf/classes/mypackage/myclass.class
I am trying to say something like this from my JSP file(which is under webapps/ROOT) :
<%@ page import = "mypackage.myclass"%>
<% myclass.mymethod(); %>
I am not instatiating the class as its a static method.
This is what I get while accessing my jsp file :
javax.servlet.ServletException: try to access class mypackage.myclass from class org.apache.jsp.index_005ftest_jsp
To put my problem in a nutshell, Can someone guide me how to access a method of an external class from a JSP page? I have a bunch of pages doing the same operation so I thought I would have it in a method and call it from every page. Even though I tried to put the file under web-inf/classes, The JSP is not able to see the class.
Please help.
Thanks
-UdayI have a situation that is a bit similar. I have successfully used beans for storing methods used in JSPs and used by other methods in the same class as was suggested above. Now I would like to break some methods into another (utility) class since they are lower level and can be used by lots of things. They are for database operations (given a String query and String dbname, it queries and returns ResultSet for example). I want to have them in a separate class for reusability and OOP.
I am having problems calling those public static methods in the public class from my bean that communicates with the JSP. I can't compile the class that calls the method in the database ops class. I get an error like :
loginHelper.java:45: cannot find symbol
symbol : variable sqlHelper
location: class dbHelperBean.loginHelper
and when I include the package name in the call I get
loginHelper.java:45: cannot find symbol
symbol : class sqlHelper
location: package dbHelperBean
That's strange since the package of both classes is dbHelperBean and the class is indeed called sqlHelper. I tried to compile it in the same directory as sqlHelper as well. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help. -

Well...I tried too many things..googled so many times..but still could not find solution to my problem.
I use windows 8 Enterprise Edition(if this has to do something with the problem)
Oracle 11.2.0
Apache Tomcat server 8.0

My oracle is installed in the D: drive and tomcat in c:. i copied the ojdbc6.jar file from oracle to lib directory of tomcat server.
Then i set CLASSPATH in environment variables as "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 8.0\lib\ojdbc6.jar" in system variables
My path variable is set as "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_02\bin".
My program is as follows in notepad:

rs= st.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM login");
while(rs.next())
System.out.println(rs.getString(1)+""+rs.getString(2));

>> ODBC Driver Manager ... Data source name not found
That appears to be ODBC drivers looking for a DSN (Data Set Name). If it wants a DSN, the DSN has to be specified in the code, and the DSN has to be configured in the windows host ODBC applet. So that is at least two squirrels to get in the right tree before moving forward. A ...host:...[port:]SID|service name are some of the bits needed in a jdbc connect string, and that is in no way related to DSNs. A Whole Different Animal. If it wants a DSN that might be what needs to go in the URL bit.
And ODBC setups can be confusing, especially if an x64 OS is in the mix- if that is the case there are two different ODBC configuration applets, one for x64 the other for x86, and if one gets as far as talking to an actual database it might toss an architecture error. Only way to fix that "problem" is *delete* the ODBC DSN and then run the correct (maybe the x86) ODBC config utility, and set up the DSN. Again. -
Restarting of tomcat server while using jsp
hi,
Iam using a jsp page on tomcat server. It actually sends message to a phone, after that it comes back to the same jsp using the same url.
But after it comes back, the jsp is not working properly. I have to restart tomcat server each time for it to work.
As iam redirecting it back to the same jsp , i expect it to work properly as nothing is being changed. Its not practical to restart the server each time.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance

Possible to connect remotely to Apache TomCat JSP application server
Hi, I've just installed an Apache TomCat server and locally playing around with some JSP and Servlets.
I have an website which is hosted remotely by an hosting company. However they do not provide JSP/Servlets server as an service.
I want to know is it possible to add some code or something which connects to my JSP/Servlet TomCat server remotely. So, allowing me to add JSP code or Servlets to say my index.html at my website host location which then connects from their to my TomCat server JVM and spit the goods back out at my website location.
Is this possible? seems quite awkard? You are certainly not in an ideal situation. While you could use AJAX, and a library like DWR to send requests between the hosted website and whatever JSP/Servlet engine you have available, the resulting application will likely be slower and less reliable than if you hosted it all in the same place. Realistically, you won't save yourself any effort by doing it this way. Application hosting is a lot more resource-intensive than hosting static content, and even more so due to the amount of abuse that goes on in the wild Internet.
While you've solved the problem temporarily, your JSP/Servlet engine is still vulnerable to DoS-based attacks once it's determined where your AJAX servlets reside. The only long-term solution is to go with a provider that has proper JSP hosting that is known to have good security.

How to deploy Reports which is saved as JSP in Reports 9i , in Tomcat serve
Hi,
I have saved rdf as JSP in Reports 9i and try to deploy in Tomcat server. Initially i got some error regarding taglib, RWException.class. But i put Oracle9IAS classes in /WEB_INF/CLASS folder so able to run JSP.
I am Giving URL As
http://localhost:8080/examples/jsp/IN_FREQUENT_DIALLEDNUMBER.jsp?server=HTP&userid=eulogy/eulogy@eulfenny&destype=cache&desformat=HTML¶mform=yes
If i am not giving Server=HTP, then getting ERROR
Reports Error Page
Wed Feb 18 14:34:09 IST 2004
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: REP-51000: Reports Server name is not specified
If I am giving Server=HTP
Reports Error Page
Wed Feb 18 14:35:15 IST 2004
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: com.sun.corba.se.internal.Interceptors.PIORB
I have placed this class in /web-IF/Class folder, After all i am getting this error.
But My requirment is to run the Jsp without giving Server=HTP
Any One can suggest, It is possible to run this JSP in Tomcat without Using Reports Server(9IAS BC4J instance).
Appreciate all your reply & Thanks In Advance.
