JSP virtual directory in a mapped drive

Is it possible to run jsp files that reside in a mapped drive? For security reasons, we would like to avoid saving jsp files in the same oracle 9ias server directories.
For instance, if we wan to save our developer files in a mapped drive and directory G:\JSP\Dev, can we add this drive and directories to the classpath directive in the jserv.properties file?
How then can we run jsp files in a browser (i.e. what would the syntax be for calling the url)?

HFM Question : What could corrupt a virtual directory ?

    Sometimes I have been facing an issue with consolidation app when opening it from workspace.
    I'm trying to load this app, in to HFM 11.1.2.2. I was able to deploy the application, however, when I try to open it from Applications > Consolidation > AGGCONS to load data I'm getting the following error :

      I've found a possible solution at Oracle Support : Financial Management Error "JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught..." When Attempting to Access Consolidation Administration in Workspace. (Doc ID 1457676.1). However, it's not exactly the same error, but the solution related to my issue was similar. This article state that :
"The Financial Management web server configuration does not complete succesfully, the virtual directory in IIS called "hfmapplicationservice" is not available under "Default Web Site". To resolve this issue run the EPM System Configurator and on the HFM web server and choose "Configure web server" for Financial Management product to re-create the virtual folder (hfmapplicationservice)."
      When I follow the instructions above, I've got to open up the app without any problem. But in two or three days the same error happens again.
      I'm suspecting about the user but don't know enough about Consolidation Application to affirm that.
      Then I'd like to know if would be possible some kind of a "bad app use" to corrupt some files from this virtual directory that is mapped in IIS that the only solution is recreate this virtual directory.

Virtual Directory Browsing in IIS Is what in OSX Server?

Ok, forgive my ignorance. I am coming from a better understanding of Microsoft IIS..
Basically what I am looking for is.. In my Windows Server I would have a Partition Drive with a letter.. lets say e:\ and call the drive docs with data files saved on it. I would then go into IIS and setup a Virtual Directory of that E drive.. So then I could have people own a browser at www.website.com/docs and from there it would list all the files allow them me to download what they needed.... Yes, I know there is also a VPN option.. However, this is easier for my case...
I think in Apache it would show a page and in bold letters "Index Of /" then list all the contents in that drive or folder..
I have tried looking up what it would be called in Apache.. Yet not yielded much luck..
Anyone have ideas?

I found a manual from Apple "web tech" that says to insert:
<Directory "/Users/refuser/Sites"> Options Indexes MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow,deny Allow from all</Directory>
I inserted this into the /etc/apache2/sites/website.conf file or even the Virtual_Host_Global.conf file
I changed the directory to the path I have the "Aliases and Redirects" such as /Volumes/Web
Works great!
HOWEVER....... I have noticed.. that every time I then goto edit something in the Server Admin Console for Apache.. It removes the code out of the .conf files..
I have tried making .htaccess files in the Drive with no luck or even adding a httpd.conf and no luck..
It does seem to give Directory indexing when I add it into the location listed above.. yet no where else.. kind of stumped again..
Any ideas?

virtual-directory-mapping fails when loading JSPs in 8.1

I'm using portal 8.1 sp3 and trying to get my JSP includes to include JSPs from a virtual directory.
          I can load HTML files from the working directory perfectly:
          <jsp:include page="/myprods/myProd1.html" />
          But whenever I try to load JSPs it fails:
          <jsp:include page="/myprods/myProd1.jsp" />
          Is this a known (bug) and expected behavior?
          My weblogic.xml setting:
          <virtual-directory-mapping>
          <local-path>c:/wls-domains/portal_servers/testcontent</local-path>
          <url-pattern>/myprods/*</url-pattern>
          </virtual-directory-mapping>
          And I have C:\wls-domains\portal_servers\testcontent\myprods which contains both myProd1.html and myProd1.jsp
          Note I cannot put my JSP's pre-compiled class in the applications classpath, I'm expecting the jsp:include to resolve all this itself.
          The error I get when trying to include the JSP is as follows:
          Error opening /SamplePortlet/index2.jsp.

I'm trying to define a virtual mapping in my web application deployed in Weblogic
7.0 sp2 and it's not working.
I've defined in my weblogic.xml

I'm doing the same as you, and it does not work. I'm using weblogic 7.0 sp2 in
a Windows 2000 Proffesional. Maybe it's a problem with weblogic/OS version?

Several paths with the virtual-directory-mapping in weblogic.xml

Hello! I don´t know if this is well posted here. Sorry, and my english is aswful :(.
I´m trying to put several paths for jsp files in an application, similar to how the extendend document root works in websphere.
How can I get this on weblogic? With this lines I only managed to get the first but the second url-pattern doesn´t work.

I see. In my case, x == images, so if I reverse my directory
structure I could still get this to work for me. For instance:
<virtual-directory-mapping>
<local-path>C:\webapps\context\y</local-path>
<url-pattern>/images/*</url-pattern>
</virtual-directory-mapping>
/images/z.gif would map to C:\webapps\context\y\images\z.gif.
I'll have to weigh changing our directory structure vs. keeping the
servlet we have that rewrites the URL.

Virtual directories just replace the doc root. The doc root in your case
is C:\webapps\context\x\y. The request uri is /images/Z.gif. So the whole
thing resolves to C:\webapps\context\x\y\images\Z.gif. Which is where the
image should be located.

You can use FormBased Authentication to protect the access to the virtual-directory like " *http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=2034*

Inside your Virtual Directory Create a "pdf" directory and then place all your PDF files inside this directory

Creating a symlink directory on a network share to a path below a mapped drive letter, local path, or UNC path does not work

Am I correct in assuming I can not create a `symlinkd` to a network share, local path, or a UNC path on a network share that will be accessible by clients?
###Mapped drive letters don't work:
1) navigate to a network share:
pushd \\windows2008server\share\
2) make a hardlink:
mklink /d test_sharedir t:\directory\
dir .\test_sharedir
#Directory of Z:\test_sharedir
#File Not Found
UNC paths don't work:
1) navigate to a network share:
pushd \\windows2008server\share\
2) make a symlink:
mklink /d test_dirunc \\windows2008server\share
dir .\test_dirunc
#Directory of Z:\test_dirunc
#File Not Found
I can create a functional `symlinkd` on a local drive to a mapped drive letter or a UNC path.
Are my assumptions above correct?
We are in the middle of a migration and have created two symlinkd to UNC paths for shared DLLs, one below c:\windows\system32\ (directing to a share containing 64-bit DLLs) and one below c:\windows\syswow64 (directing to a share containing 32-bit DLLs).
On the file server, we have had a path to 32-bit DLLs (from Windows 7 clients: s:\dll\). I am attempting to rename this directory so that it is accessible via "s:\dll32\" and would like to create a symlinkd that links "s:\dll" to
"s:\dll32" [again where S: is a mapped drive on a Windows 2008 server]. How do I do this?

I assume that the Windows Server CIFS server service must be "smart enough" to determine that a CIFS client is attempting access to a SYMLINKD and actually fill the request by following the SYMLINKD. The CIFS server service does not appear

1) Am I correct in my assumption that the CIFS client (redirector) and the CIFS server (server) do not following symbolic links (whether they be file or directory)?
2) If not, how do I submit a feature request for this so that it can be reviewed and approved or not approved for inclusion/hotfix release?

Note that you can use a `directory junction` instead of using a SYMLINKD, to link to LOCAL resources (source). However, `directory junctions` do not allow access to resources over UNC.

MAPI over HTTP not working correctly, Outlook 2013 clients prompting for credentials during profile creation or opening depending on security of virtual directory

ENVIRONMENT
-1 Exchange 2013 SP1 CU7 server with all roles that is also a hybrid server with Office 365 tenant, mailboxes are all on premise only LYNC online is being utilized right now.
-Exchange 2013 public folders
-Mix of Outlook 2013 SP1 and Outlook 2010 SP3 clients all fully update to day as of Feb 2015
Outlook anywhere is working perfectly across all clients both internally and externally using autodiscover. Both Outlook 2013 and 2010 clients can open the program and create a profile automatically via autodiscover and no additional logon prompts
are seen.
We set the internal and external mapi virtual directory URLs to a valid URL that also matches the Exchange 2013 SSL certificate. We set the security to ntlm, negotiate on the mapi virtual directory. We reset IIS and enabled mapi over http in
the org config. We run in to problems here.
Outlook 2010 clients appear to be working fine. We can create a new profile and open and close Outlook without any logon prompts and verify that MAPIHTTP and Negotiate are used to connect to Exchange.
Outlook 2013 clients are having problems. As soon as we try to create a profile it says your administrator has made a change that requires you to restart outlook and then a windows logon prompt appears. If we authenticate Outlook will open and connect.
This logon prompt should not occur. We can confirm that it is connecting via MAPI HTTP and Negotiate.
If we set the mapi virtual directory to NTLM only then a logon prompt also appears during every open of Outlook 2013. We can confirm that it is trying to connect with MAPIHTTP via NTLM in the outlook connection test screen.
I do not understand this behavior by Outlook 2013 which was supposed to be designed with MAPI HTTP in mind. I would think the same issues would occur with Outlook 2010 but they do not. I am not sure how to resolve this and I am looking for help.

I have the same problem. Exchange and Outlook are both up to date. After creating a new profile Outlook prompts for username/password. A lot of users also get this prompt while
working - the profiles have been "migrated" from Exchange server 2010. <o:p></o:p>
Niko, as i can see in your screenshot you do not have Mapi over HTTP enabled. Why? You can change settings in the security tab – if you have Mapi over
HTTP enabled all options are grayed out (please correct me if I
am wrong):
This is a very annoying thing – does anybody else have the same problem?

          Using WL 5.1 sp9 on Win 2000 sp3
          Following a previous post I've got this far setting up a virtual directory -
          weblogic.httpd.register.tempstuff=weblogic.servlet.FileServlet
          weblogic.httpd.initArgs.tempstuff=docHome=c:/tempstuff
          From the browser http://p1900:7001/tempstuff/test.html
          displays the html page but how do I set it up so I can access a .JSP page in there?
          I've tried changing the line to
          weblogic.httpd.register.tempstuff=weblogic.servlet.JSPServlet
          but keeps giving errors

You should be able to just bring the files into DreamWeaver. It should edit the HTML part of the JSP just fine.

After read careful about Virtual directory mapping, I saw that can't resolve my problem.
And I change the way to get closer my target by thinking about a solution for showing image base on string in the "src" from tag <img> request to server.
When client request image from the server, I'll catch the string request, process it and get the real link of the image base on it, reading content of the image from source and response the client. And I found the way for my solution in here

I'll have to weigh changing our directory structure vs. keeping the
servlet we have that rewrites the URL.

Virtual directories just replace the doc root. The doc root in your case
is C:\webapps\context\x\y. The request uri is /images/Z.gif. So the whole
thing resolves to C:\webapps\context\x\y\images\Z.gif. Which is where the
image should be located.

In this case I'm assuming that a request of the form
http:/host:7001/context/images/z.gif would map to the physical file
C:\webapps\context\x\y\z.gif. However I cannot get this to work. Is
my assumption about it's use incorrect? Is the syntax of
<local-path/> or <url-pattern/> wrong? Is there something you have to
do to get WebLogic to recognize the weblogin.xml file?
This is urgent. Please help.

Virtual-directory-mapping + MS-Word MS-Excel

Hi,
I have created the following virtual-directory-mapping in my weblogic.xml
<virtual-directory-mapping>
<local-path>c:/zooi/temp</local-path>
<url-pattern>/excel/*</url-pattern>
<url-pattern>*.xls</url-pattern>
</virtual-directory-mapping>
Secondly I added the following mime-mapping to my web.xml
<mime-mapping>
<extension>xls</extension>
<mime-type>application/vnd.ms-excel</mime-type>
</mime-mapping>
I tried to access an excel file, from my browser using the URL http://localhost:7001/MyWebApp/excel/Sample.xls
Although it finds the file, it doesn't launch my Excel application in the browser. Instead it displays the file like you would do a "type" operation on it from the command line.
If I copy the excel file into my webapp and then try to do the same (note that its not in the virtual-directory now) it nicely does start my excel application in the browser.
I have good reasons for wanting to use a virtual directory so I hope someone can help me finding the reason why it doesn't work in that case.
FYI, it doesn't work either with Word, but it DOES work when trying it with a PDF.
