JSP with PL/SQL Cartridge

I have installed OAS 4 and JavaServer Web Development Kit
Version 1.0 in one PC and with o8i in another PC.
I've got problem in linking a PL/SQL cartridge, which will
return a small page, with my jsp.
I've got no problem if I run the jsp under the OAS while the
small page can't be retrieved if I run the jsp on other PC.
Syntax of my jsp for including plsql cartridge :
<IFRAME ID=IFrame1 title="Testing" FRAMEBORDER=1 SCROLLING=auto
SRC="http://hkg-wsn-1014/plsql/current_users"></IFRAME>
where
http://hkg-wsn-1014/plsql/current_users is my plsql cartridge
and
http://hkg-wsn-1014:7070 is the entry point for jsp server
Can anyone help ?

  • How to make OAS 4.0.7 work with PL/SQL-Cartridge

    Hi folks,
it took me some days, but now I've found the solution:
    1. Although the OAS 4.0.7 seems to work fine on a 2.2-Kernel,
the PL/SQL-Cartridge will definitely never work!!!!!!
I don't know exactly why, but I've installed all
relevant libs, but it won't work, whatever I do.
    2. I've installed the OAS on an old 2.0.36-Kernel (SuSE 6.0),
    and everything works fine!
The only thing you have to take care of is to set the
domainname BEFORE installing the OAS. The installation
procedure queries 'domainname', not 'dnsdomainname' to
get the domain. And if you don't have YP configured by
chance, your hostname will look something like
'myhost.(none)' in every OAS configuration file
(and there are a lot), which prevents the ORB from starting.
I hope that will help someone out there
    Greetings

This would really be great, if this works.
    Can anybody confirm this ?
To bad i need a 2.2 kernel for my raid diskset :(

This is a good way of achieving what you want to do. But I should mention that the approach is suitable only for smaller applications.

  • Error connecting jsp with MS SQL Server 2000

    Dear all,
I have developed a simple application in java for connecting with SQL Server. But the same thing is not working in jsp. We are using Tomcat 4.0 as a server. Which jar files am I supposed to keep in the Tomcat folder and plz, give the entire path.

There are three msbase.jar, msutil.jar and mssqlserver.jar. Put these in the /WEB-INF/lib directory of your application OR... if you will be writing multiple applications that use this, you can put them in the <%TOMCAT_HOME%>/common/lib directory.
From there it should all be the same.

  • PL/SQL Cartridge with Union Query

I have a pl/sql cartridge, with 3 select queries connected to each other by a "union". These queries basically generate a report from two tables. One of those queries is based on Table 1, and the other two are based on Table 2. What I need to accomplish is that I want to add a condition that restricts the outcome of the query (all three unions as a whole) based on a condition. Say, the condition is table1.param1 = '1'. Now, I'm getting confused with incorporating this condition in query 2 and query 3 which are based on table 2, and don't have the param1. However, both table1 and table 2 have param2 in common. I tried writing something like: (this is just a skeleton of my code)
    SELECT param1, PARAM2, OTHER_PARAM
    FROM table1
    where param1 = '1'
    union
    select param2, param3, 0 other_param
    from table2
    where param2 in
    (select param2
    from table1
    where param1 = '1')
    union
    select param2, param4, param5 other_param
    from table2
    where param2 in
    (select param2
    from table1
where param1 = '1');but this doesn't work. Can anyone help me with this query? any help is appreciated.

I think it will help you guys better if I illustrate in more detail. Posting my code below. p1,p2,p3..etc are parameter names. Hope someone will be able to help now.
The original code, before adding the new condition is:
    select p1_num,
              p2_date,
              sum(decode(p3,'50',p4,0)) b_amt,
              sum(decode(p3,'10',p4,0)) r_amt,
              sum(decode(p3,'20',p4,0)) d_amt,
              sum(decode(p3,'40',p4,0)) l_amt,
              0 pay_amt,
              0 o_amt,
              0 g_amt,
              0 ot_amt
       FROM table1 t1
where p1_num = passed_parameter  -- Parameter passed to the cursor
             AND to_char(p2_date, 'mmyyyy')  =  V_pdate  -- V_pdate is a parameter passed to the procedure
             group by p1_num, p2_date
       UNION
       select p1_num,
              p6_date,
              0,
              0,
              0,
              0,
              sum(decode(p7,'2', p8,0)) pay_amt,
              0 o_amt,
              0 g_amt,
              0 ot_amt
       from table2 t2
where  p1_num = passed_parameter  -- Parameter passed to the cursor
              AND to_char(p6_date, 'mmyyyy')  =  V_pdate  -- V_pdate is a parameter passed to the procedure
              group by p1_num, p6_date
       UNION
       select p1_num,
              p6_date,
              0,
              0,
              0,
              0,
              0 pay_amt,
              sum(decode(substr(p9,1,1),'1',p8,0)) oil_amt,
              sum(decode(substr(p9,1,1),'2',p8,0)) gas_amt,
              sum(decode(substr(p9,1,1),'5',p8,'3',p8,'4',p8,0)) ot_amt
       from table2 t2
where ((p7 IS NULL) OR (p7 IN ('0','1','3','4')))
and p1_num = passed_parameter  -- Parameter passed to the cursor
             AND to_char(p6_date, 'mmyyyy')  =  V_pdate  -- V_pdate is a parameter passed to the procedure
             group by p1_num, p6_date;
I need to add a condition <b>p5 = '1'</b> to filter the results of this query. p5 is a from table1. I tried using inner join, as per Jane's suggestion, something like this:
      select t1.p1_num,
              t1.p2_date,
               sum(decode(p3,'50',p4,0)) b_amt,
              sum(decode(p3,'10',p4,0)) r_amt,
              sum(decode(p3,'20',p4,0)) d_amt,
              sum(decode(p3,'40',p4,0)) l_amt,
               sum(decode(p7,'2', p8,0)) pay_amt,
              sum(decode(substr(p9,1,1),'1',p8,0)) oil_amt,
              sum(decode(substr(p9,1,1),'2',p8,0)) gas_amt,
              sum(decode(substr(p9,1,1),'5',p8,'3',p8,'4',p8,0)) ot_amt
       FROM  table2 t2 inner join table1 t1
       on t2.p1_num = t1.p1_num
       WHERE
       to_char(t1.p6_date,'mmyyyy') = V_pdate
       and   t1.p5 = '1'
and  ((t2.p7 IS NULL) OR (t2.p7 IN ('0','1','3','4')))
       group by t1.p1_num, t1.p2_date
       order by t1.p1_num
Firstly, I get duplicates for some of the records, which I need to eliminate. Once I eliminate those, i'll know if my retrieved records are right (since right now its retrieving more than 1000 records!)

We had the same problem with the PL/SQL cartridge (OWS-04764 ...). We solved our problem with a new kernel. Its important that you have a kernel with symmetric multi-processing support (SMP) enabled, independent if you have a one or two processor machine.
I hope it will help you.

  • WL vs. WL-express and JSP vs. javascript/SQL

    folks-
i am trying to convince a certain party to
disband a web-based job tracking system being
written in ASP, javascript, html, css and SQL.
it will be hosted on MS webserver running NT.
i am trying to convince them to use JSP and
WL express. i have done two years of EJB
component work on weblogic, however, i have not
done work with JSP or thin-clients. i was mostly
    business-logic.
anyway i have some questions and need some
direction. i already know JSP is better than
    ASP/javascript etc. because:
    * ASP is proprietary. ditto for VBscript
    * with an IDE creating JSP is easy and JSP
automatically creates servlets which is way
    faster than by hand
    * JSP is JAVA based and hence benefits from
all the portability pluses of JAVA
but here are the more difficult questions:
    * why is WL express better than an MS
web server? (not including WL market share
and size. after all MS can claim that)
    * since WL express does not have an EJB
container, how do you access the database?
via JDBC? does one just have JDBC code
    floating around?
    * since there is no EJB container how does
one separate presentation from logic from
data access? this is a major downside of
javascript, html, css and SQL etc.
    * if a web app grows beyond JSP with WL express
into the need for an EJB container, i would
think that most of the app needs to re-written
as business-logic must be refactored into EJBs
and all JDBC code will be replaced by container
managed beans. this sounds a like a lot of
    rework.
    * isn't JSP slower than javascript as the
servlet and hmtl code is bounced back and
    force across the network?
    with respect to architecture, scalability,
and robustness what are the downsides to an
    MS webserver and non-JSP coding?

    * since WL express does not have an EJB
container, how do you access the database?
via JDBC? does one just have JDBC code
    floating around?
Use JDO or an OR-mapper or embed JDBC into your own data access classes.
    * since there is no EJB container how does
one separate presentation from logic from
data access? this is a major downside of
javascript, html, css and SQL etc.
    Presentation=JSP
    Logic=Servlet
    Data access=JDO or similar
    * if a web app grows beyond JSP with WL express

think that most of the app needs to re-written

You should be able to tell up front if it a tx-intensive app that requires
    WLS.
    * isn't JSP slower than javascript as the
servlet and hmtl code is bounced back and
    force across the network?
They aren't exclusive. For dynamic pages, use Javascript on the front end,
    JSP on the back.
    * with respect to architecture, scalability,
and robustness what are the downsides to an
    MS webserver and non-JSP coding?
In the real world, and for most apps, while Java has the architectural edge,
they both have similar scalability and similar robustness. MS gives you no
choice though, and you rewrite every time they see a new buzzword. You can't
leave MS-land without abandoning almost everything. You can leave WLS in a
    week if you have to.
    It's an investment. Invest wisely.

  • Displaying image in BLOB via pl/sql cartridge

    Hi gurus ,
I have a oracle web site. I am dynamically putting links in the page using pl/sql cartridge and procedures. I have loaded all my pictures for the catalog in the BLOB columns. Can anyone help me or direct me how to display these images using plsql cartridge dynamically from BLOB columns instead of from image files ???

Since this is the interMedia forum my suggestion would be to store the image data in an ORDImage column and use the interMedia WebAgent to retrieve the data.
The interMedia WebAgent can be used with "naked" blobs but you'll need to code your own pl/sql routines (the code wizard won't do it for you).
The code wizard does generate procedures for OrdImages but due to some reasons the GET_XX procedures don't work and give the error "ORA-04043 Object Get_Image does not Exist <br><br>"

  • OAS 4.08 , PL/SQL Cartridge , SSL3.0

    Hi ALL,
Could someone give me any pointers in programming in the PL/SQL
    Cartridge(OAS 4.08) with SSL 3.0?
Does implementing SSL 3.0 in the PL/SQL cartridge have to do
with programming or are there some settings which i have to make
    on the OAS?
(We will be configuring the Netscape Enterprise server as the
    OAS listener)
    gurus...help!!!!
    Thanx in advance

I'm also interested in knowing how to access session variables in PL/SQL? I have only found descriptions of what session management is. I can't seem to find any sample code or documentation on the How Tos.
    Thanks,

  • How can i increase performance JSP with database?

    Hi,
    I am working a forum.
I have been facing a problem.
i am getting collection of records from sql server database to jsp page. here all the records to take long time (*delayness jsp with database*).
plz any bodies know that increase the permance, tell me.
    thanks & regards,

again very bad idea never use Put DB Code or Business Logic or Special Service requests inside the servlets/backing beans.
Ideally the below is the method which is recommended for a Peformant J2EE application which focuses at modulality, configurablity, scalablity & performance.
    http://java.sun.com/blueprints/corej2eepatterns/Patterns/index.html
Anyways,it might be a costly in terms of investment.Ideally i personally fell the below way/patterm could be comparable.
    <!-- View / Presentation Layer -->
    STEP 1 --> VIEW RENDERED(JSP renders view using a View Object/Objects)
STEP 2 --> USER (Fills Forms accordingly and request for an action)
    <!-- Controller part -->
    STEP 3 --> Controller(Servlet+Backing Bean)
STEP 3.1 ---> Mapps the request made into a View Object & Scopes it (Done by servlet )
STEP 3.2 ---> validation of the data in the VO (and servlet is responsible to find appropriate Backing Bean to pass on the respective View Object)
STEP 3.3 ----> Backing Bean takes help of a ServiceLocator Object(Singleton Object) and gets appropriate Business Object which takes care of all the appropriate business rule(Managed by Specific Containers)
<!-- Service Locator takes help of specific Stubs to provide access to specific business Object -->
    <!-- MODEL PART -->
STEP 3.4 ---->Backing bean passes on respective View Object to the Business Object and Business Object apply business rule on the data recievd from the Backing bean and sends appropriate DTO to DAO Object(Singleton Object)
STEP 3.5 ----> DAO executes responsible DB query and returns a DTO/Collection of DTO to Business Object.
STEP 3.6 ----> Business Object apply business rules on the data and then passes it back to backing bean.
STEP 3.7 -----> Backing Bean receievs appropriate DTO/Collection of DTO sent by Business Object Update the View Object Accordingly.
STEP 3.8 -----> Depending on the results return by Business Object the backing bean returns to reference appropriate JSP to forward/redirect.
STEP 3.9 -----> Servlet identifies the reference returned and forward/redirects accordingly.
    STEP 4 ---> Repeat STEP 1
NOTE: One can make use of any builtin frameworks(like struts,JSF,tapestry,Spring MVC,etc or your custom built framework in VC layers, EJB or Spring IoC or Custom Built Component Layer handling business objects and any ORM like hibernate,Oracle Toplink,Ibatis,JDO,JPA or specific custom devoloped DAO layer) to do this job.
Might Sound bit complicated but is a better way to plug & play with each layer and can enusure other layer is not distrubed because of change in one layer, distributes the load on respective layer & so on.
    Hope that sounds logical
