JTabbedPane; switching tabs

how do I switch panes?
I have a pane called "deposits"and another called "search deposits". When someone finds the particular deposit info in the "search deposits" pane they select it and the user is brought back to the "deposit" pane where the full details of the deposit are displayed.
Problem I'm having is how to switch panes.
Thanks
Rory

It's cool, it's just frustrating because lots of the people asking for help on this forum seem incapable or unwilling to try to help themselves. It's like someone asks you for help moving, but then sits around not helping when you get there. I was a little too harsh, but I was just trying to make sure you took away from this that the api is your best friend. Once I finally learned that lesson I became a much better programmer. You're not one of those people, so don't worry about it. And don't let us scare you off from asking more questions in the future :)

  • JTabbedPane - Switching tabs erases drawn graphics2d.

    We are using JPanes in a JTabbedPane for a web interface application.
    When switching to a tab in the JTabbedPane that already has Graphics2D components drawn on a JPane (lines, etc.), the drawn information disappears.
    We currently have the paint() method overrided in the JPane where we are actually drawing graphics.
    One work around we have tried was to place code in the JTabbedPane's componentlistener to run when it detects we've switched tabs. That didn't work as the code that runs is done prior to the final refresh of the JTabbedPane, which removes any drawn information.
    We had to place a refresh button on the JPane for the user to click (or any other even trigger) to re-draw the information in order for the image/graphics to be seen.
    How can we avoid this event-only displaying of our graphics? Is there another tab-switching trigger we are unaware of?

    You might have misunderstood how painting works: The information will NOT be retained after being drawn - there is not an "image" for each JPanels that keep the information drawn onto it. If you minimize the application, then restore it, you need to paint it again. If the user have put another window on top of your application, and then moves it, you will have to paint again. If you switch tabs or similar internally in your application, you will also have to paint again. This style is called "immediate mode"-type painting (Which can be compared to "retained mode" painting, whereby there actually is an image that will keep the information between changes. "Scene graph" approaches (which is what JavaFX does AFAIK, and also Java3D) is another "retained mode"-like mode.).
    Thus, one will have to paint everything for every display (The "clip area" in the graphics object defines how much you need to draw - e.g. if the user had a window partially over the application). You accomplish this by overriding paintComponent(Graphics g) on the component, which will be invoked every time the component needs to be redrawn.

  • Switching tabs while working with Premiere Pro CS5

    Hello there.
    I am currently working with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and I notice that when I'm reproducing/previewing the timeline or am recording, for example, an audio track, everytime I switch tabs (switch to another window or to desktop), in this case the recording stops. I've searched around Preferences and in help files and I cannot find an option to make Premiere continue what he's doing despite me changing windows. Is this even possible? It would be very helpful.
    Cheers!

    >Is this even possible?
    No... PPro must have full control of the computer to work... shift to another program and PPro stops

  • When I'm on youtube and I'm watching a video, and I switch tabs or look at something else, the video from youtube will appear in the corner of my screen and won't leave.

    Alright, lets say I'm watching a video on youtube. If I switch tabs, the video from youtube will appear in my top left screen and won't go away. Or if I go to any other site or program and try to open a file from my computer, the video will pop up in the corner again and I won't be able to see anything I need to. This sounds like a glitch or something. I just need to know how to fix it.

    Does this only happen on specific pages?

  • Cannot switch tabs past a tab viewing a PDF

    When I have a tab open with a PDF in it (using Adobe Acrobat 9.3.0.148 plugin) I cannot switch tabs using Ctrl-Tab and Ctrl-Shift-Tab past that particular tab. Ctrl-W won't close the tab with the PDF in it either. It looks like if you dont click within the PDF document or one of the viewer plugin toolbars etc it will let you tab past, as soon as you click within the PDF it no longer works, even if you change to a different tab and then try going past it again. Using the mouse scroll wheel to scroll through the document does not cause this behaviour to kick in either. Also in this state you cannot use Ctrl-F when you tab onto the PDF tab unless you click on the PDF itself (same goes for cursor keys and page up/down keys). FF2 used to allow you to tab past the PDFs without any issue, i noticed this on 3.5.1 while upgrading to 3.6.3. So its like keyboard focus is lost somewhere between FF and the PDF plugin.
    I remember in FF2 you used to get a faint rectanglular highlight within the tab so you could tell the focus was on the tab not within the page. Thats also gone now.
    I havent been able to find an existing bug specificaly on this issue, or any other potential work arounds. So just want to check before i log a bug, of course this could be an Adobe plugin issue, although it does appear to be linked with how the focus is maintained on components within FF.

  • How do I prevent firefox from switching tab groups when closing a tab?

    I really like the tab groups feature, as it helps cut down on the number of tabs I have open at once. The problem is that when I close a tab, I sometimes get shunted to another random tab group. It is then a pain to get back to where I was before. Is there a way to force Firefox to choose among the current tab group for a tab to open?

    This problem persists in Firefox 5.0 on all of my computers (Windows 7, OS X 10.6, and *any* Linux distro). It would be nice if Firefox was forced to remain within a single tab group until no more tabs remain. Also, if we have pinned tabs, closing the last non-pinned tab should select the nearest pinned tab, without switching tab groups.
    This issue is pretty annoying. It would be nice to see a remedy. For reference, here is another post with the same issue: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/828677

  • Is it possible to sort or filter the switch routes under the switching tab?

    In Teststand 3.1, is it possible to filter the switch routes under the switching tab in Action Properties?  Since I have a large amount of routes that have been created in Switch Executive, how can I filter out some of the routes from the "Routes to Connect" section?

    The TestStand Switching does not provide any inherent filtering capabilities.  You do have a couple of options, however.
    (1)  NI-Switch provides the ability to set up route connections in
    different groups.  The Switch Page in TestStand allows you to
    select Routing groups as well as specific Routes.  It may be
    easier for you to organize your Connections as groups and choose
    between different groups.
    (2)  The Property page also allows you to build route connection
    string and use that string  for your Switching actions.  It
    may be easier for you to build a Route string and easily change that
    string rather than selecting your routes everytime from within the
    TestStand window.

  • What are the gestures for switching tabs in safari

    Subject says it: are there gestures for switching tabs in Safari under Lion? (I'm using a MacBook Air.)

    Kind of cool, but I think I'd like to just be able to move them with one gesture.

  • Call a Function when switching tabs in TabbedPanel

    I am using Allan Jardine's DataTables javascript library , along with the Spry TabbedPanel. I have one table in each of a number of Tabs. The table in the tab opened by default (or if I use ShowPanel()) is fine. However, if I switch tabs, the other tables, which were hiden when the page was opened,  are not correctly initialised, and don't display correctly. Doing anything that causes the displayed table to be redrawn results in the table displaying correctly, and from then on I can switch tabs and the tables are fine.
    DataTables has an API function fnDraw(), which will cause a specified table to be redrawn. Is it possible to cause TabbedPanel to call a user specified function when the tabs are swapped, so I can call fnDraw()? I think this woiuld solve my problem.
    Thanks
    Ron

    Thanks.
    But I found a simpler way. At the end of the jQuery(document).ready(function(), which initialises the datatables, I added
    var ret=TabbedPanels1.showPanel("expiredquotes");
    oTable2.fnDraw();
    var ret=TabbedPanels1.showPanel("confirmedquotes");
    oTable3.fnDraw();
    var ret=TabbedPanels1.showPanel("openquotes");
    Which opens each of the "other" tabs and redraws the respective DataTable while they are "visible". Then at the end I display the 'default' Tab. I only need to do this once, when the page is opened, after which the tables are correctly formatted.

  • Firefox29 cannot close or switch tabs on OSX10

    clicking on a tab no longer switches to corresponding tab window
    no way to close tab; the 'x' is gone and right clicking the tab just shows the customize menu for the browser
    this rendered it unusable for me and I had to switch back to FF 28

    Problem with frozen / unselectable tabs applies to PCs as well, the extension that was affected by Firefox 29 is
    <br>'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/how-many-times-can-i-back/ How Many Times Can I Back?]''' :: Add-ons for Firefox
    You will have to disable the extension for now. I see you went back to Firefox 28 (a lot easier on your health). It was really a pain trying to switch tabs strictly through the "List all tabs" drop-down, and use Ctrl+T, and Ctrl+W (or for you with the Mac Cmd key ⌘ ).
    I had the same problem, it is now reported in
    <br>[http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.php?title=Problematic_extensions Problematic extensions - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
    Firefox 29 made changes to Tabs, and removal of the Addons Bar. since you also show Status-4-Evar in your "MORE SYSTEM DETAILS" you use the Addons bar and have a problem there as well. You also have another extension one with the word "tab" in it "Old Firefox Tab 1.0" which could be affected as well.
    Either of these extensions will restore the addons bar, I prefer
    [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/ The Addon Bar (restored)] which I prefer because I have tabs on the bottom.
    Those who can stand tabs on top and the hugh Firefox button may prefer <br>[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) :: Add-ons for Firefox]
    <br>I see you did try that when you were on Firefox 29.
    Both extensions preserve "Ctrl+/" shortcut to toggle the Add-ons bar.
    To restore Tabs on the bottom (in Firefox 29)
    <br>[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fdgueux-tabs-on-bottom/ Tabs on Bottom (Australis) :: Add-ons for Firefox]
    If you look in your "'''MORE SYSTEM DETAILS'''" in the right hand panel you can see what see of the extensions and plugins that you have. For instance
    <br>'''How Many Times Can I Back?''' 0.2.2011012001 ([email protected])
    <br>'''Old Firefox Tab 1.0''' ({b4b3e886-52d2-11e3-b4ad-f2ea6188709b})
    <br>'''Status-4-Evar''' 2013.10.31.22 ([email protected])
    I'm working through my own problems and will be able to use Firefox 29 even though some of my toolbar buttons are almost invisible (only my own styles are affected by that).

  • Shortcut for switching / tabbing between open documents?

    Hi. In Mac OS in general, you can switch between open documents or windows in the same program via the shortcut COMMANDO + >. Like for instance different windows in Firefox. But in Numbers and Pages, this means zoom in or out.
    Does anybody know a shortcut to switch / tab between the open documents in Numbers and Pages?
    I have searched google, here and e-mailed for help and found nothing.
    Thank you!

    Hello Jerry.
    There ARE keyboards like that:
    http://www.ergoblog.com/2006/09/keyboardwithe.html
    http://www.sspdirect.com/large-letter-keyboard.html
    You see, just google for "Large letter keyboard" and maybe add Mac. But ones without Mac symbols works just as fine, you just have to learn which key is which.
    Seems there is no solution to my tilde-problem...
    Thank you my french friend, for the understandning of the swedish problem

  • Switching tabs in a tabstrip

    I have a tabstrip with two tabs. Under the first tab i am displaying a table. The user has the option of selecting one or more rows of this table, and hit an "Edit" button. At this time, the selected rows will be picked and transferred to a second table displayed under the next tab, and the user can make changes in this table. I am not sure how I can switch tabs programmatically. I searched the documentation but was not able to find much. Any guidance is appreciated.
    Murtaza.

    Create a context attribute "selectedTab", type "String".
    Bind TabStrip.selectedTab property to attribute "selectedTab".
    In event handler, set attribute value to ID of tab to be selected:
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setSelectedTab("ID-of-Tab");

  • Firefox freezes when I switch tabs or write in a form.

    Every time I switch tab by clicking on them(and sometimes when using the short cut, ctrl+tab ctrl+2 etc) or when I start writing in the awesomebar/a form Firefox freezes. It just visual freeze so I can still go to a website, click on stuff and so on. But when I resize the window by pressing F11 or something like that it returns to normal. I've tried to disable all the plugins and add-ons and i've tried to make a clean reinstall, and when I say clean, I mean clean (deleted all the mozilla/firefox folders in /AppData etc) . Two things that's not affected by this freezes is
    1. Flash objects
    2. The title of the page. (the tabs title still freezes)
    I'm using a ProBook 4330s and I have tons of friends using the exact same model with firefox who's not experiencing this problem. Also note that I don't have this problem with Chrome or Explorer.
