JTabbedPane with spacers between tabs
I've searched everywhere but i cant seem to find an answer. This one is a toughie.
I have extended the BasicTabbedPaneUI with a custom UI, everything looks good so far, but there is one major obstacle that i'm trying to overcome. I need to add spaces between my tabs.
How can this be done ?
This is the look that i am trying to achieve.

Open JTabbedPane with focus in tab
I have a swing standalone app where general navigation is managed with something like this:
private void addNewComponent(JComponent component) {
JComponent panel = main.getDesktopComponent();
main.setMainTittle(GlobalOptions.getTittle());
panel.removeAll();
panel.add(component, BorderLayout.CENTER);
component.requestFocus();
panel.validate();
panel.repaint();
} //EOF addNewComponentOne of this changed central panel's components is a JTabbedPane
This pane has 3 tabs, each with full tree of containers and components.
The problem is that when central app panel shows the JTabbedPane, the only way to focus in a component is by mouse click, after that i can use tab key to switch between components, including tabs from pane.
I cant find a way to force focus so mouse click is not necesary.
The component parameter in previous code has been a container in any part of app code I've seen it, so far, somewhere in each of this containers is a back button to mantain consistent the navigation. But I need to keep anytime the tab key navigation.
Also while tab key is not working sometimes hot keys neither work, so fast keyboard navigation crashes completely.
Is there a way I can fix this? tabs in JTabbedPane cant be selected as components, requestFocus in other components doesnt work, searching in the net shows posts with similar problems but says that it's a bug and need to change to jdk 1.5, I prefer to keep 1.4.2 version at least for a while since app is spreaded to many people and i dont control that.
Thanks in advance for the help.You need to look into the new focus system. Focus always defaults the root of the default FocusTraversalPolicy. You need to define a policy. Then when the window opens focus will default to the tab if defined correctly.

JTabbedPane, how can a tab switch to another tab?
I have a JTabbedPane with a few tabs. Each tab consists of a class extending JPanel. If a certain action is performed on on of the tabs, the view should switch to another tab. How can this be done? I know about the method setSelectedComponent in the JTabbedPane class. But since the tab doesn't know about this, how can I use it?
Actually, the solution was dead simple. All I had to do was give the constructor of the class/tab a reference to the JTabbedPanel instance so it can call setSelectedIndex on it.
It works now, thanks anyway. -
Why doesn't the rotate gesture on my trackpad behave as it used to for switching between tabs when it works the same with all other programs besides Firefox?
I changed the about:config to make the rotate gesture move between tabs, and it worked great for well over a year. Now it behaves erratically as described here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=877598
It used to be very controllable to move one tab over, now it is erratic and moves quickly and to unexpected tabs regardless of how slow I do the rotate gesture. This is the main reason I use Firefox over Chrome and I would like to continue to do so unless there is no fix to this.Just set the browser.gesture.twist.threshold to something around 15-25.

JTabbedPane with one close button for all tabs
Hello,
there have several solutions been posted for JTabbedPane subclasses that provide tabs with icons working as close buttons on each tab. I think this is not user friendly because the user can hit the close button accidentally when selecting a tab. And a "really close?" dialog is clumsy.
Therefore I prefer the Netscape browser style: There's only one close button rightmost of the tabs that closes the selected tab. But I don't have an idea how to achieve this.
Does anyone have a solution or an idea? Thanks in advance for help.This solution has been posted several times and is not what I wanted. But I rewrote the thing so that
- the close buttons are on the right hand side of each tab so that it is conformant with Eclipse style, and
- the close buttons work only with a left click (see code below).
I just wonder how I can move the text a little bit to the left so that the appearence is a bit more balanced. Can someone help, please?

Jtabbedpane with replacing tab content
Hello,
I am developing an applet that should contain a JTabbedPane with 2 tabs.
The second tab is easy to do because ti contains one Jpanel all the way.
the first however is an issue, because i am supposed to change its content when the applet is running.
this means i have 3 JPanels, J1, J2, J3.
At tge beginning the applet contains J1 in the first tab.
and J1 contains a button. when i click that button the applet should replace J1 with J2.
the problem is i haven't managed to find a solution yet :(
I have tried with setvisible(false) and validate(). It won't work. I also tried to add the J2 panel over J1, but encountered no succes.
anybody has any idea ?
Message was edited by:
asrfelIf you want to change back and forth repeatedly then wrap J1/2/3 in a JPanel with a CardLayout.
If you can discard one when it's done with, use the remove() and insertTab() methods of JTabbedPane. -
JTabbedPane with two rows of tabs
Hi,

create a new tabbedpane for each level and add each of these tabbedpanes to an upperlevel tabbedpane, thus allowing you to pre-select the desired level. -
I updated yesterday from the most recent version of Firefox 4 to Firefox 5 on Mac OS 10.6.7. On Firefox 4 I was able to switch between tab groups using ctrl-` (I loved this feature—I find the mouse-based interface clunky). Now that shortcut either does nothing or shows all tabs at once, as if they were in the same group (although, if I use cmnd-shift-E, the panorama view still shows several groups and if I choose one from there, only one group's tabs display).
I am also using Firefox 5 and this shortcut works for me.

Tabcontrol transitions between tab with mouse gesture ?
Hi
Can we create a tabcontrol with gridview in tab, and when we can scroll gridview and tabcontrol with mouse hold and move ?
Example :
Tab1 Tab2
1 2 5 6
3 4 7 8
When we hold and move mouse Up-Down gridview will scroll in tab.
When we hold and move mouse Left-Right we will see tab transtion
Tab1 Tab2
.. 2 5 ..
.. 4 6 ..
Tab navigation will dependent where we release mouse.
Exactly i want do something the same app screen smart phone, exclude it can scroll in Up-Down in a page.
I'm researching in Google but now see anything sample like this.
Please help me.
Sorry for my bad english.Hi Cygnus
Durant
I'm not really what you said.
We will create
<TabPanel >
<ScrollViewer>
<StackPanel >
<Item>
So will

Add handlers for MouseMove to
scroll verically in StackPanel ?

Using events (?) to share data between tab pages
I don't know whether this is an event question or an Object-Oriented design question or a JTabbedPane question.
I'm pretty new to Java, so be patient!
I wish to have a JTabbedPane with a tab to do 'Import' of data, and a tab to do 'Export' of data (the SAME data which was imported). Now, how do I share the data between the 2 tabs?
It seems the data belongs at the JFrame level, but then how does the data in each tab access it? In other languages I would pass a reference to the data object in the window to each tab.
Or how do I get (or set) the data when the tab changes? And how do I know when the tab changes?
I think I need to set trigger some sort of event to the parent window, who I suppose has a listener, and then it can then query the appropriate pane? If so, I'm not sure what sort of event trigger I should be using, where etc.
I know if I had one tab with an import/export functionality then I could declare the Collection within that panel.
Help!!!
Thanks ;)I think this is an OO design question.
You basically have two views (the two panes) of the same data. So I'd suggest the Observer pattern (see the Design Patterns book) where one model holds the data and the model is observed by several views. -
I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN .
HI All,
I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN . the WLC are providing the HQ and one of the Branches the Wireless services .
Am using all the available 9 SSIDs at the HQ , and am using only 4 of it at the Brnche.
The problem that i have are happening only at the Branch office as i cant room between the SSIDs within Diferent VLANs but i can do it with the one that pointing to the same VLAN. Once the client ( Laptop/Phone ) connected to one of the SSIDs. it imposiible to have him connected to the other ones with Different VLAN. meanwhile, It says its connected to the other SSID but its not getting IP from that pool.
here is the Show Run-Config from my WLC .. and the Problem happening between the SSID AMOBILE and ASTAFF. i have the Debug while am switching between the SSIDs if needed .

In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

Hi!
I apologize for how crazy my question sounds,, (& for everything that follows), but I'm at a loss as to the correct wording...I hope my explanation will clarify things, at least enough so that someone understands what I'm trying to say! Wish me luck!
I'm using Firefox 37.0.1 on Windows 8.1 & everything is up to date. The most important details for this problem will be my settings & addons for Firefox, so here goes:
I allow all cookies, but it's set to clear them when Firefox closes.
I do NOT save any history or passwords & I also have "Click & Clean" enabled, & I use it frequently, even though I don't save any history or anything else, just to add to my security/privacy, (guess I didn't use it often enough, huh?)
I have the box checked for "Do Not Track", (but I just learned the hard way that even so-called "nice" companies don't honor this request)
I have "Ghostery" as well as "Google Analytics Opt-out" enabled, (even though I don't use Google for my search engine, nor do I go to a Google site unless it's absolutely necessary, (I read about Google's penchant for following users everywhere in order to get their preferences, so I avoid them if at all possible).
In other words, I thought I was protected from tracking-related problems, but I need to know if these precautions are effective when using Firefox & having several tabs open...then opening another tab/window...are cookies & any other info "readable", (I don't know what word should be used here), from tab to tab in the same window, (which just happened to me), & is the cookie info readable from window to window? In other words, do I have to completely close out Firefox, delete cookies, then open a brand new window so that any session cookie info has been deleted to protect my browsing info from being accessed?
I know, I'm STILL not making much sense...here's what happened, (I won't divulge the site that did the 'cookie abuse', though.
I had several tabs open, as I usually do, because I was gathering info for research on a report I was working on. Suddenly, I remembered I had to order my hubby's birthday gift, so I opened another tab, (in the same window), to my favorite site & started searching for the items I wanted. I found what I was looking for & was getting ready to check out when I noticed something very odd...there were several "suggestions" listed for items I "might be interested in, based on my browsing", but the funny thing was, I didn't search for anything related to these suggested items! Instead, they were related to items in the other tabs I had open. Scary, underhanded stuff, if you ask me! I always knew not to have banking/financial sites open while surfing, but the tabs I had open were from sites where I was getting research info for my report, so no red flags went up when I went to the site to place my order.
So I guess the question I need answered is...is cookie info accessible only between tabs in the same browser window OR is it even accessible from window to window? Did I make sense yet? I sure hope so, because this incident has me absolutely flapping around like a fish that's just been pulled out of the water & is just left on the deck! This obvious assault on my privacy has hit me like a punch in the stomach, because I thought this site was one I could trust...especially since I had "Do Not Track", "Google Analytics Opt-out" & "Ghostery" enabled!
I just don't know how to deal with this, but obviously, I need to know the rules so this NEVER happens again. Luckily, there wasn't any finance-related breach, but my sense of trust has taken a BIG blow.
If this made sense to anyone, please advise me on the rules of 'cookie abuse' so I don't EVER let this happen again!
Also, is cookie info able to be shared between browsers, e.g. use Firefox for more personal/sensitive browsing & Opera for research activity?
Any & all advice is desperately needed & gratefully accepted! I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to anyone else because it really takes the wind out of your trust bubble. I've never been as surprised & disappointed at a company as I am about this. So sad.
Oh well, learn something new every day...too bad I learned not to trust. :(
Thanks in advance for your help.

P.S. If you need anything clarified, just askCookies are stored in a cookie jar and thus are shared among all open tabs and windows.
Only all Private Browsing mode tabs/windows use a separate cookie jar that is used for all PB mode tabs.
Note that session restore stores cookies of open tabs in the sessionstore.js file as part of stored session data.

Version 5.0 on a MAC will not let me switch between tabs. I can open a new tab, but when I try to go to a different tab, it just shows me the contents of the tab most recently opened. Help!
Also, pop up blocker works for some time and then just stops working. I have to close and restart Firefox to get it to work again. Help!I had the same problem, but with Firefox 4.0. My first thought was to update Firefox (after of course restarting FF), but that didn't help it and I had the same problem.
Among others, I had an extension installed and enabled called Tile Tabs 4.10 that I thought could feasibly creating this problem. So I went into my add-ons manager and disabled it, restarted Firefox and the tabs worked properly again. Unfortunately, the Tile Tabs extension is my favorite Firefox add-on and I use it almost every day for managing my web work tasks. I went to the add-on page for Tile Tabs and saw that there was a notice that version 4.10 didn't work properly on Mac OS, and to install version 4.9 of the extension. I saw they had a new, not-yet-reviewed version 4.11 that addressed the Mac OS problem, installed it, and everything seems to be working properly.
I have no idea why all of a sudden I had this problem, as I hadn't updated Firefox or the Tile Tabs extension recently. Also, obviously this might not address your problem, especially if you don't have that add-on installed and enabled. But our problem started at the same time for both of us it appears based on your post time, so its probably not coincidence.
But its worth a look, and you might want to check out other extensions if you don't have Tile Tabs that could be causing the problem. -
How to stop firefox launching a second browser when moving between tabs,
I almost always have multiple tabs open in firefox and intermittently when I move back to a tabbed window rather than opening that window in my current browser firefox will launch a new (second) browser and open my old tab here - closing down the tab in the first browser.
I move between tabs by clicking on the tab and most of the time it will open the tab but doing exactly the same thing will intermittently launch this second browser.
All other functions with firefox are operating normallyFirefox 3.5 versions and later have a feature called tear-off tabs.<br />
You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.<br />
You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.

Hi,
Sorry if I'm repeating a prior post. I have searched but
can't find the answer I'm looking for.
It's pretty simple. How do I link between tabs on the same
Index page? My entire site is basically just the index page with
many tabs on it. How do I (hyper)link between tabs? Say from:
Index\Tab01\SubtabB to Index\Tab02\SubtabA.
My site is here
www.praiadecima.com
ThanksHello everybody.
It seems that it's not possible to link analytics between tabs, at least based on this official SAP response:
Based on the case description I have further investigated on your requirement and would like to inform you that in Interportlet Communication its not currently possible between tabs because we treat each tab as a seperate dashboard.
So I have to redesign my dashboards layout.
Thanks to all.
