JTextarea area takes all the memory and CPU

I need a component like JTextarea
To view (not to edit) large text files (3 mb)
When I use JTextarea my PC run out of memory and CPU
Can you sagest the right viewer component ?

Sounds like you have never done a PRAM reset or a SMC reset. Do both and see if this helps:
_SMC RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
• On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
• Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.
_PRAM RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
• Turn on the computer.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
• Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
• Release the keys.

  • How to check the memory and CPU usage on NPU

    Hi expert ,
Could you tell me how to check the memory and cpu usage on NPU?
I think ASR1000 has this command (show platform hardware qfp active...) , but I coudn't find the same command on ASR9001.
I checked " show controllers np counters all"  command, but I did not find it.
    Platform: ASR9001
    version: 4.3.2
    NP: Tyhoon
    Thanks,

    Hi Kanako,
understand your question, but something like that doesnt exist for the trident/typhoon NPU's for the asr9k.
in fact cpu usage is not really applicable for parallel/serialized hardware forwarders, but mainly the KPI is here
    the PPS it handles.
The max pps it can handle is dependent on feature set.
What you could do is measure the rates on the PARSE_FABRIC_RECEIVE count (packets received from fabric, so egress direction), PARSE_ENET_RECEIVE count (packets received from the interface to the fabric, so ingress) and the LOOPBACK count, that is packets that are recirculated for extra processing. The sum of these 3 gives an idea of the PPS rate the NPU is working on.
Memory consumption is something tricky also, there are many memories attached to the NPU, notably:
TCAM used for vlan matching, ACL and QOS matching
Search memory for L2 and L3 (shared on Trident, separated on Typhoon)
Frame memory for packet bufferin in QOS
Stats memory, for all kinds of counters of QOS maps, interface stats etc
their usage is rather dynamic also.
The few things you want to verify on these are:
    - ACL usage (in terms of Tcam entries)
    - MAC table size (2M max on typhoon)
    - FIB size (4M max on typhoon)
frame memory is dependent on the buffering, which is a sum of all the packets instant queue length and size of all pmaps attached to interfaces served by the same NPU. there is no good overview as to how much you have available of that, but it has a rather significant size 1G or 2G depending on the TR or SE cards (typhoon specific).

I have a Galaxy S3 and love this phone but here at my new home which has absolutely no trees of bushes blocking anything, my phone calls are dropped ALL THE TIME and it's driving me crazy.  Verizon finally said that they would come out and boost the signal but haven't seen anyone in two weeks.  I have called Verizon tech help for one year to get help with this, either trade phone or something.  I am so frustrated!  I picked Verizon for the clear calls and coverage inside hospitals and buildings but it's been terrible.  I have had three of these phones replaced.  I need a different model like the S4 or the S5 I think cause it's something in this model.

Verizon is quickly becoming the worst cell phone company out there.  To read all of these pleas from your loyal customers is just so sad and pitiful.  You need to be sued for your data overage charges that you are intentionally imploding on your customers.  They have pleaded, very intelligently, with you to do something to fix the issue and you willingly have NOT.  As is with my reception issue that I was promised a signal booster for two months ago, so is this issue with the data.  You don't follow up and solve the issues.  Therefore the courts will find you fraudulent. When I was promised by your super tech that I needed a signal booster and he was sending it out overnight at no charge to me, I was relieved that it would finally be taken care of so I wouldn't lose faith with Verizon.  Well, that was two months ago now with no record of it ever being ordered or on my file anywhere.  I have since called three more times with hours of conversations about that issue and two more techs have told me they were sending me a signal booster with no follow up what so ever.  WOW!  That's pitiful!  You may not care now, oh but you will later when you lose lots of money and business.

  • Inactive memory takes all the memory - please help

I have a Macbook Pro - August 2009, upgraded version to 2.66 MHZ, advance display card, Dual core.
I recently upgraded the RAM to 8GB (Kingston) to clear more memory for my massive application use, the thing is it didn't solve anything because the issue I had problems with - Inactive Memory, wasn't resolved.
Inactive memory supposed to hold the memory for the apps you closed in case you'll run them once again, but it NEVER clears the memory, I can see the "blue" color taking all the free mem and the computer slows down! no free mem what so ever.
Now the Inactive mem grows enormously and gets to be more than 4GB, it has the same effect, the memory runs out!
Is there a way to fix it? I'm going crazy with that.. what a terrible design!
iFreeMem doesn't work on the 8GB, I'm at a loss..
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Eli.

  • Maverick has messed up my computer. Slow scrolling in I photo. Bookmark icons are blue all the time and not marked with the company symbols. I cannot find out how to solve this.

I switched to Mavericks two weeks ago and have had nothing but troubles. Scrolling in I photo is slow and very inaccurate. When I click and drag a photo the ones above it all flicker, making it hard to find where to put it. My bookmarks bar Icons are all blue. Before they used to show the symbol for the company they represented. Now I click on one, it changes to what I want, then a few minutes of hour later, it goes back to the blue ball, which I hate. My font size is different with every page and I have to click Zoom in all the time. I tried adjusting it in Preferences in Advance settings on the right, but this does not solve the problem permanetly. I have one web page, a hockey one, which tries to load, then I get either a black page or a white one. Driving me nuts. I need some help. Been to Apple at the store, talked to them on the phone for four hours last week. Rebuilt the I photo library with no luck. Would appreciate any help. Please Thanks. I even keep a fan behind my computer to keep it cool, that is how much I look after this baby. Some say it might be Safari? Not sure. I have little computer experience, so please it you are kind enough to reply, do not use tech talk or short forms as I will not understand any of it.

    Rick,
I have a few of your issues as well: 1) Safari popular icons are all bue making them very hard to distinguish from each other. 2) My font size is also different with each page / window.        What I have been able to find out is that in the Maverick OS - Apple removed one size of display resolution 2048 x 1152. Whether this is the cause of my 27" screen clarity & font size issues, I do not know - but it seems like a contributing factor.  Maybe help is on the way - maybe not. Cheers

  • Can i take out the motherboard and CPU and replace it with a newer one?

I was wondering if i could take out the CPU and Motherboard of an early 2011 13" macbook pro with a 2.3GHz dual core i5, and replace it with a 2012 2.9GHz 13" dual core i7? I don't care about the costs but i just want to know if it's possible? I've upgraded my computer to the max so far, but i need some more processing power and i think the new ivy bridge processors will do me some good. Thanks for any replies

    NOPE.
    I'm about 99.9% sure it won't fit.
Plus the rest of the stuff won't plug or won't be compatible.

  • 32gig Memory on Macpro 8 Core - How to use it all the memory and processor speed

    Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if any of you out there know a way to have my Mac Pro use more of the memory it has. I have 32gig of memory and I would like to have it use more processor power and memory if possible. I am aware you can use the "renice -10 -p PIDNUMBER"
How can I make it use more of the processors and memory my machine has. Ex. Running Photoshop or Final Cut, Imovie etc.

Using the Unix nice command raises the priority of a process, but software will use the amount of memory it needs.  You cannot make a program use memory it does not need.  Same with processor cores, if software is written to use only one processor or core you cannot make it use more, the software has to be designed for multi-threading to do that.

  • MacBook Pro with Yosemite 10.10.4 running hot and slow. HP file is hogging all the memory

My MacBook Pro (late 2011, core i-7) running OS X 10.10.4 is running hot and very slow with the fan screaming .  Activity Monitor shows a process called com.hp.devicemodel.TransportProxy is hogging almost all the memory and very high CPU activity.  How can I get it to stop.  Force quit will not shut it down.  I would delete the file, but don't know where it is.  Can someone please offer some help? Thanks, Tom

Try to uninstall all HP software (should be in Macintosh HD/Applications/HP folder  It should have an uninstaller within that folder.  My computer settled down just as soon as I finished the uninstall.  Went back into the system preferences and reinstalled my printer and everything seems OK now.  Hope it works for you.

  • When router reconnects, Mail locks up, eats memory and CPU

This is something that happens to me since I upgraded to Leopard.
When my router reconnects, i.e. gets a new IP addresse (and maybe the Internet is unreachable for some seconds), Mail starts to go crazy. The spinning circle behind the IMAP mailboxes never go away, and Mail starts to swallow the whole memory and CPU, until the system dies because of being completely unresponsive.
Has anyone encountered the same problem? Is there something I can do to find out what's wrong here?

It would be interesting to see Mail swallow all the memory and the CPU on a computer, but that's not what's happening.
Do you have Mail set to launch when you startup your Mac, or do you launch it yourself when you startup your Mac? Either way, if you do that before your router has an IP address and a connection, that could cause a problem, so the first thing you should try is to not do that.
Secondly, have you tried repairing permissions, since you upgraded to 10.5.4? If not, do that as well and then restart your Mac, wait for your router to be connected and ready, then try opening Mail.

After closing Firefox to use IE8 or any other program (like InterVideo to watch a DVD), everything is very choppy and slow. I have to go into Taskbar, Processes, and close firefox.exe manually (which is using up all the memory/CPU and should have closed before). Then, and only then, does everything behave normally. What is going on and what am I doing wrong or missing??
    == This happened ==

'''[[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]'''
    <u>'''Safe Mode'''</u>
You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox SafeMode is a diagnostic mode that disables extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes before starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
    See:
    '''[[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]'''
    '''[[Troubleshooting plugins]]'''
    '''[[Basic Troubleshooting]]'''
If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

  • A process named "update.exe *32" and description is "Firefox" keeps using a lot of memory and cpu; the longer forefox is on, the worse it gets. How to prevent?

    using Windows 7, firefox 15.0.1
This process uses more and more memory and CPU, sometimes there are several of these processes running. If I kill these processes, it doesn't seem to affect the utilization of Firefox. Then the process slowly starts to use more and more memory and CPU all over again.
This happens all the time, every time I use Firefox.

I do not have a ComObjects folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files. That is not part of Firefox.
wscript.exe is a utility included with Windows to run scripts at the system level. It generally is not used by major programs. If update.exe is starting up with Windows, you may be able to find the script that wscript.exe is running using [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx Autoruns].
It definitely sounds viral. I suggest deleting the update.exe file, although Windows might prevent you from doing that until you kill all related processes. And if you have a persistent infection, the file may be restored or re-downloaded.

  • Firefox 3.6.24 is stressing memory and CPU resources to the point that Hotmail is almost unusuable and computer jams while FF goes thru its athletics; what to do?

I have a Dell Inspiron 710m, with Windows XP, Norton 360, IE8. My computer understanding and needs are simple. Norton lets me know that Firefox is eating memory and CPU. The machine often jams while this happens, whether or not Norton has flagged an operation, and then resumes function. Hotmail is in shambles (jamming between operations, and having sign out problem). Neither Norton nor CC Cleaner (including Registry) indicate a problem. This is a nifty little machine that I use for email, mostly newspaper subscriptions, online shopping and banking, personal, and for Internet research. I have tried more advanced versions of Firefox and found them buggy. So, I went back. The upgrades are coming too fast. Not everyone is going to invest in another machine for Windows 7 or IE 9 capability right away. Meanwhile, Firefox, which worked just fine, seems to be pushing along, in what seems to be an industry in which cooperation and compatibility have ceased to be important. I don't know what to do. I can't do complex diagnostics and fixes, and am not in an area where I would take this computer anywhere.

Thank you for taking the time out to reply. I don't know whether or not your suggestions would have worked, but I did solve my problem. I eventually figured out that the file, overlay.xul, was doing something and when I changed the filename, the bar went away.
I was reading that the xul error usually meant something wrong with an extension, but that didn't make sense because after uninstalling/reinstalling, there were no extensions present, on an assumption, of course. I noticed a file through a search, and it was located in a folder without a mozilla/firefox name in it, looked like a randomly generated folder name. I looked in the extensions. ini and noticed it pointed to that overlay.xul file in that random named folder and thought, what the hell, and just renamed the overlay.xul file to something else and the problem went away.
    Thanks again.

  • Safari takes up all the memory

Am I not managing something right? The computer gets slower and slower. I look at activity monitor and all the memory is in use. Most of it is taken up by Safari (Safari Web Content). I close Safari and it opens up free memory. I open Safari again and it goes back the same. I guess it is because there are a lot of tabs open? I don't need all those tabs open that I know of. Am I not managing my tabs well. I don't understand them well at all. Any suggestions?
2009 iMac with 10.9. I am connected to the internet by a Time Capsule that is connected to my computer with an ethernet cable.
    Thank you
    Carl

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. This procedure is a diagnostictest. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything suggested in this comment.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed, as well as some other aspects of the configuration that may be related to the problem.
Don’t be alarmed by the seeming complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out. Here's a brief summary: In each of two steps, you copy a line of text from this web page into a window in another application. You wait about a minute. Then you paste some other text, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is copy; paste; paste again. That's all there is to it. Details follow.
While investigating the problem, you may have started the computer in "safe" mode. If possible, these steps should be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing. If you can only boot in safe mode, you can still use this procedure, but not all of it will work. Be sure to mention that in your reply, if you haven't already done so.
Below are instructions to enter UNIX shell commands. The commands are safe and do nothing but produce human-readable output, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you question the safety of the procedure suggested here — which you should — search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects. I am not asking you to trust me. If you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them.
The commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. Step 1 should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PB=/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy; PR () { [[ "$o" ]] && printf '\n%s:\n\n%s\n\n' "$1" "$o"; }; PF () { o=$($PB -c Print "$2" | awk -F'= ' \/$3'/{print $2}'); PR "$1"; }; { o=$(( $(vm_stat | awk '/Pageo/{sub("\\.",""); print $2}')/256 )); [[ $o -gt 1024 ]] && printf "\nPageouts: %s MiB\n\n" $o; o=$(kextstat -kl | grep -v com\\.apple | cut -c53- | cut -d\< -f1); PR "Loaded extrinsic kernel extensions"; o=$(launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)|\.[0-9]+$/{print $3}'); PR "Loaded extrinsic user agents"; o=$(launchctl getenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES); PR "Inserted libraries"; o=$(crontab -l); PR "User cron tasks"; o=$(cat /e*/lau*); PR "Global launchd configuration"; o=$(cat ~/.lau*); PR "Per-user launchd configuration"; PF "Global login items" /L*/P*/loginw* Path; PF "Per-user login items" L*/P*/*loginit* Name; PF "Safari extensions" L*/Saf*/*/E*.plist Bundle | sed 's/\..*$//;s/-[1-9]$//'; o=$(find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) | wc -l); [[ $o -eq 0 ]] || printf "\nRestricted user files: %s\n\n" $o; cd; o=$(find -L /S*/L*/E* {,/}L*/{A*d,Compon,Ex,In,Keyb,Mail/Bu,P*P,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo}* -type d -name Contents -prune | while read d; do ID=$($PB -c 'Print :CFBundleIdentifier' "$d/Info.plist"); ID=${ID:-No bundle ID}; egrep -qv "^com\.apple\.[^x]|Accusys|ArcMSR|ATTO|HDPro|HighPoint|driver\.stex|hp-fax|JMicron|microsoft\.MDI|print|SoftRAID" <<< $ID && printf '%s\n\t(%s)\n' "${d%/Contents}" "$ID"; done); PR "Extrinsic loadable bundles"; o=$(find /u*/{,*/}lib -type f -exec sh -c 'file -b "$1" | grep -qw shared && ! codesign -v "$1"' {} {} \; -print); PR "Unsigned shared libraries"; for d in {,/}L*/{La,Priv,Sta}* L*/Fonts; do o=$(ls -A "$d"); PR "$d"; done; } 2> /dev/null | pbcopy; echo $'\nStep 1 done'
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
The command may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. Wait for the line "Step 1 done" to appear below what you entered. The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
Remember that you must be logged in as an administrator for this step. Do as in Step 1 with this line:
    PR () { [[ "$o" ]] && printf '\n%s:\n\n%s\n\n' "$1" "$o"; }; { o=$(sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|calendarse|cups|dove|isc|ntp|post[fg]|x)/{print $3}'); PR "Loaded extrinsic daemons"; o=$(sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook); PR "Login hook"; o=$(sudo crontab -l); PR "Root cron tasks"; o=$(syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'error|GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|pagin|timed? ?o' | tail -n25 | awk '/:/{$4=""; print}'); PR "Log check"; } 2> /dev/null | pbcopy; echo $'\nStep 2 done'
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    You can then quit Terminal.
To prevent confusion, I'll repeat: When you type your password in the Terminal window, you won't see what you're typing.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, set one before taking Step 2. If that’s not possible, skip the step.
Important: If any personal information, such as your name or email address, appears in the output of these commands, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
Remember, Steps 1 and 2 are all copy-and-paste — type only your password. Also remember to post the output.

  • Hey, when i deblockaded my ipod nano 5thgen, all the songs and vids' dissapeared but my memory is still filled as 'others'... How do i get my music back? (restoring doesn't work cuz the songs were from a laptop, but it crashed...) thx!!

Hey everyone, when my ipod( nano, 5th generation) was stucked, i deblockaded it, but then all the music and video's dissapeared.... And  when i check thee info it says '6.4 GB others' and '567 MB free.... And don't know how this could happen but i really want all my music back!! And i cant put all the songs back because the laptop i used for this ipod crashed and it's still in the store to ffix it... So now i have a lapop that i borowod from the store but i only have 100 songs on that laptop ( manual mode, so i can put them on the ipod but i cant tpuch the others)  and that means i would download 1200 songs, and that really takes a long time... And my memory is full, so i can't put new songs on it.... S, the question: is there a way i can get all my songs back?? And if that is impossible, how do i clear my memory, so it's free for new songs??
    Already thanx a lot!!
    mmuuuuaahh,
    Charlaih

Well, shut my mouth!  There was a similar question over to the right about a 6th generation nano repeating over and over again -- I read the answer to that one, followed the instructions, and holy crap, it's back to normal.
Is there a name for this when you end up replying to your own aggravating question?  That's what I did.  Now I can go out and listen.  It's only 91 degrees.  Heaven. Thanks, Apple.
