JToggleButton.....The selectedIcon is always in black and white..

Hi !
i want to use custom icons for the Selected state of the JToggleButtons
The problem is that when the button is selected the icon appears in black and white colors .
How can i fix this problem and have an full color icon?

I have tried and failed to do this in the past... What I can tell you is the if there is a way to customise the "depressed appearance" of a JToggleButton it's beyond my (limited) abilities... In the end I decided it was only a "nicer point" and tacked it onto the TODO list... where it shall (in all likelyhood) languish indefinately.
Having said that I just bet it's possible, and there's a couple of Swing freaks (no offence intended (well maybe just a little (but nothing worth getting offended over))) who are pretty active on this forum. If you don't get an answer today then try reviving this thread tomorrow, and the next day... until you do get a definitive answer... and in the meantime I'm sure you've got bigger fish to fry.

Hi,
From the application being used to print, Click File > Print
Click Properties or Preferences to access the Printing Preferences Dialog.
Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the window.
Under Printer Features, Click the Print as Grayscale selection box and set as High Quality Grayscale or Black Ink Only.

How to print something the same in color as black and white?

I have a gray box that I set as black and then set the tint down to 20%. When I print this in color it prints with a pink tone. When I print it in black and white it prints correctly. Any advice?

I am pretty new to this. How do I calibrate it?
I am not sure what a command workstation is. I have tried different choices in the properties of the printer and it doesn't change anything for the better. Some make the graphics worse.

Setting Black and White as the default when printing to a Canon Image Class 4080i

I've got two Canon Image Class 4080i's that we are printing to at the school I work at. I have installed the Canon UFRII V2.40 Printer Driver for Mac OS X and we are able to print to them fine through any macbook running 10.5 to 10.7. My question is, how do I make the default printer setting be Black and White instead of color? I know how to change it from Color to Black and White by navigating to the Quality menu through the Print screen but I have to do this every time I print. Is there a way to make black and white the default?

You’re really going to take photos straight out of camera on a 5d3 and print them with a blindly applied B&W conversion from the printer? I would highly discourage that, but if that’s what you want to do I’m sure it’s possible. Sorry, I have no experience with that printer so I can’t help.
Do you have a laptop? My recommendation would be to use a photo processing software like Lightroom (if you don’t have it LR5 is ridiculously cheap right now), play around before the event to get a B&W conversion that you like – even the preset ones are going to be better than whatever conversion the printer does - and then print from LR. It’d hardly take any extra time, and you could get a brief review of the conversions on a laptop screen before printing.

How to have "black and white only" be the default print option

Just installed a new printer and would like to set it up so that the default print option is black and white only. How do I do this?

Every printer is a little different so you may have to do some searching through the settings. I don't have an HP Photosmart C6100 here so I can't say for sure where the setting is for that printer.
The closest thing I have to that model printer here is an HP OfficeJet 6310
In that model you choose Paper Type/Quality
In drop down menu under Color you select Gray Scale
Then you can still save the preset as I described in my previous post.
If the C6100 is different than that you may just have to search through option pages and explore the drop down selections.
Which I could be more specific, but they are all a little different.

Making the subject only black and white?

Still kind of new to AF (using AF CC) and here's one I can't figure out. I've been through the manual and the You Tube tutorials, but no help. I have a color shot of a room that a man walks through. I want the room to remain in color, but the walking man to be black and white (sort of a ghost thing I guess). Other then many hours of rotoscoping, is there a simple way to do this? That's it. Try using Rotobrush to separate the subject from the background. You won't have a single bit of luck with Rotobrush unless you read up on it and run tutorials. In AE Help, use the search term rotobrush and a boatload of useful information appears.
Got the subject all rotoed nicely? Make the subject B&W and put it over the original color shot.

Critical Irish Update needed to solve black and white tv problem on G20!

I recently had trouble with setting up tv on my Qosmio G20, I was pointed in the direction of a black and white problem that affects earlier models. The solution to the problem was to use the g20's drivers and run 2 reg files.
Having done that to no success i tried every irish combination possible, with still black and white, I then tried UK and got colour.
I mucked about with the registration files and found that in the file, there was no irish setting, So when a user puts ireland in as their location they will always get black and white.
Ireland uses the exact same settings for tv as the UK does, However if a person choses UK they will not get irish guides or irish channels to pick from (ireland isnt part of the uk)
i found the settings for the UK -

Figuring the 44, was the dial code for UK (that took a while to figure) i added a registry entry with exactly the same settings, but with ireland and 353 at the top.

I now have colour tv under the irish settings in media centre, i also have sound now, where before i didnt. Hopefully the above code will be added to the registry file named ttv2_regdata_20050111.reg that comes as part of the http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB5800V20000R01.htm driver fix for the problem..

I can confirm the problem isnt to do with win dvd creator 2 for toshiba. My registry setting was at 0.
Its bascially a known problem that was fixed, however it wasnt fixed for irish people.
When windows wants to play tv it looks in the registry to find out what settings to use. There are no irish ones. Our signal is technically the same as the UK, so using UK settings fixes the problem, However the UK guide doesnt work for irish channels. For the tv to work in colour windows needs the 353 settings.
I think the guy on this thread was having the exact same problem that is fixed with the registry entry.

This problem will only affect a small amount of users, The fix that comes with the toshiba drivers needs the irish settings added, Then the problem will be solved by updating the drivers.
until then any irish people can fix their black and white tv signal by adding the above registry entrys.
for trouble shooting purposes here is a list of countries where the bug is fixed... If someone complains of black and white tv on the qosmio series, this list can be checked, and if the persons country is absent, it could be the problem. To fix the problem you need to find out their country call code (+353 is ireland, +44 is UK) You also need to know the settings to add, i did this by looking at the UK settings in the file ttv2_regdata_20050111.reg that comes in the "reg" folder that comes for the qosmio tv driver.

Scrolling with mouse on pages create black and white lines,

When scrolling with mouse, periodically the whole screen turns into black and white lines. Sometimes whole page, sometimes just pictures/side ads. If you continue to scroll it does go away but then you need to scroll back to where the lines started, its hard to explain, i have taken 1 photo of the problem but will take more photos as i can, i really enjoy how Firefox runs on my computer, it has always been the best browser for my needs. I did recently buy a new desktop, but it did it then also, so i removed it and tried running explorer and Google and i just don't like them, so i am hoping we can get this fixed.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Set OfficejetPro to print in Black and White

I have a colour officejet x451dw printer and i want to set it to always print black and white by default. When use the print utility on a MAC for the printer there is no colour setting options at all only paper tray stuff etc. You can set the option to print graysacle when printing from some applications for example the Preview app on the mac, but the problem is you need to do set it each time your print. I want it set up as default so i dont waste ink unless i want colour. Please tell me how to do this on a MAC, it is driving me crazy

It is possible, that you may only have the basic driver installed, instead of the full feature software and drivers. Black and white TV display.

I just purchased a Mini-DVI to Video converter for my macbook to make my TV my new monitor (screen accidents suck) and now I've got a Radio Shack GoldSeries S-Video cable running to my Samsung tv. The resolution is fine and everything works great except for the TV showing up in black and white. I've called AppleCare and they're not sure what's wrong. Anybody have some insight on this matter?

I can think of two possibilities:
1) There is a fault in the S-Video cable/adapter
2) Your TV is set to the wrong input setting
S-Video sends the luminence (brightness) and chromanence (colour) separately. Either the chromanence signal is not getting through (option 1 above) or the TV is not using it (option 2). In the UK, most TVs have a SCART connector which can accept composite video, S-Video or RGB video through the same socket - are you using this or something similar? The TV needs to be set to display the correct input connector (SCART) but also the correct signal (e.g., SCART S-Video, SCART RGB etc.). If you just select the default SCART option, it would probably be SCART-composite, which happens to use the same pin as the S-Video luminance signal so you get a black and white picture!

Edit: in short I think this is an S-Video/composite video issue - either the Mac is sending composite video and the TV is trying to display it as S-Video, or the Mac is sending S-Video and the TV is set to display composite.

How can I print black and white

If you print a B&W image, some printers will still use color ink in the process.
There is no way to tweak print settings on the iPad or iPhone. Apple designed it to automatically apply default settings to any print jobs.
I recommend looking at an app like Printopia. This acts as an inexpensive "print server" for your iPad which allows you to configure advanced settings from the computer, such as custom paper sizes and color options.

I was using ePrint however that is auto-directing me to HPConnected and I no longer have the option to change the printing options to Black and White or Color. This is a recent change for me.
