JTreeCombo ... is it actually possible ??

I am trying to create a dropdown Combobox that contains a JTree as it's
popup component. Does anyone have any ideas or know of current solutions ??
Thanks in advance

ianleslie,
My limited experience has been that dynamically typed scripting languages are better for experimentation than are statically typed ones with edit-compile-link cycles.
Also, while one could use any of Beanshell, Rhino, etc for java scripting, I've gotten to actually like jython's pseudodode-like sytnax. Its semantics are sometimes less than desirable (I prefer that of Ruby), but I think it has a great balance of clarity vs expressiveness. All that, and I find it has powerful libraries of its own--especially for Internet manipulation.
Do try jython, and stick with it for 2 weeks; you may get to like it a lot as well.

  • I have a trouble: how can i change the date of the delivery of my iPad? is it actually possible?

i've ordered the iPad, but i need to change the date of delivery, how it could be possible? heeeelp!
does anyone know the e-mail of apple support?

As I said, check the Apple Store site where you placed your order, in their help section there should be contact information.  I only gave the USA number as an example (or if you were in the USA).
Oh, or, if you mean you ordered while in the US and are not there now - sorry, I don't know what else to offer.  Looking at the online US store's "contact us" section, there is only phone numbers (which, as I say, is typical of how Apple does support).

  • Is it actually possible to get in touch with Apple directly?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to ask Apple a question directly either over chat or email? The reason I ask is I am based in the UAE and called Apple here and they refused to help me as I didnt buy my phone from the online store and told me to contact the shop I bought it from.
The trouble is this is NOT a problem with the phone its iCloud or it happened after upgrading to iOS 6, but some contacts which were on my phone are no longer displaying in 'My Contacts' however when I type the number in manually they appear. They are also listed in my Whatsapp contacts so I know they are no my phone.
I have also tried checking for them on iCloud.com however they are not there either. I have also gone to contacts Groups to make sure it says display all contacts which it does.
The biggest question here is I had this problem on my 3Gs and have just got the iPhone 5 and the same issue has happened here?!?!

Still no email address, Ive been through the various options so many times but no one to contact and I cant call the guys in the UAE as they wont speak to me.

  • It is actually possible to record and mix a complete album using GB?

in a commercial sense? (moving this from another thread as not to hijack)
Here is a scenario. Take an artist like Jose Gonzalez http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4_4abCWw-w&feature=fvw Is GB a capable enough environment to record and process music like this and perhaps even host the necessary mastering plugs to finish?
I have seen many comments about when it would be right to step up to Logic and they mainly revolve around needing something perhaps like the comping feature for example. These are aids in time saving and for rescuing imperfect takes. However, is there anything inherently wrong or uncommercial or amateurish in believing that GB is all I need to record and produce my self funded independent commercial release?
    or .... whats the stigma?

    gjmnz wrote:

For the most part, I think the answer is no. There are always exceptions, and GB can do a lot, but the exceptions in which people have used GB to fully produce a released album are statistically rare for legitimate reasons.
Someone brought up the Springsteen album made on a cassette as an example that you don't need professional gear to make a professional album. That's true if you're, you know, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN! Ravel wrote the melody for Bolero on a napkin, I believe. Does that mean napkins are sufficient for notating music and musicians should abandon staff paper?
Then there's the argument that GB is more sophisticated than what many albums of the past were made on. That's true in many respects. But the sheer quality of analog components used in classic albums far surpasses the limitations of the type of consumer interfaces typically paired with GB, compounded by the inability of digital simulations to replicate their analog precursors (yet). Yeah, the Beatles may only have had a limited number of tracks, but the caliber of audio feeding those tracks was spectacular. (Aside from the music).
    I'm not dissing GB.
    Quite the opposite.
I love GB, use it, advocate its use, praise it to the high heavens.
    GB is revolutionary and democratizing.
But the features in GB don't reach into the kind of pro features necessary to produce a typical commercial release.
Not that GB isn't a great starting point, and I think a number of artists do just that. Start in GB, but the tracks are then imported into a more full featured digital audio workstation where they can be more adequately mixed.
Somewhat motivated by this thread, I tried to produce a song this past weekend entirely in GB. I plugged expensive hardware into it - high end mics, preamps, compressors, etc. So it sounded pretty good.
The wall I hit was when I needed to edit. I need to edit some parts together and couldn't really do it without Logic's more precise editing tools, cross fading, etc. The machine I was using didn't have Logic on it, so I was all intent on staying in GB, but the song was hobbled by lack of a more complete feature set. Of course, maybe if the song didn't need those edits I wouldn't have hit a wall, but it did.
I also didn't have the plugins that I normally have in Logic available, and they would have helped. I suppose someone could invest in a lot of plugins and use them in GB, although most people who make the plugin investment would already upgrade to Logic because it makes economic sense - Logic is a bargain considering everything it comes with before you'd start adding 3rd party plugs. So it'd be weird to have, say, a thousand dollars worth of plugins and still be on GB. But I suppose you could do it... but still... you'd be missing all the editing and mixing features of Logic which are a level of magnitude more robust than GB.
People can produce fantastic work in GB and, as an empty vessel, if you fill it up with top grade music, that's what matters most. But if you're serious about releasing your music above a certain threshold of production standards, the type of tools that come with Logic, ProTools, Digital Performer, Cubase, etc. start to get fairly essential fairly quick.
It's not a stigma. If you can do it in GB, if anything, that's kind of cool. But try asking this question in the Logic forum and see what kind of answers you get from musicians who regularly use Logic. Seriously. See what kind of points Logic users would make to advocate bumping up to Logic if your goal is to release a commercial production.

  • Is it possible using Applescript to place a PDF as a link at a crop bounds other than Art Box?

I've spent countless hours trying to have an applescript place a PDF as an Illustrator Link at the PDF's Media Box using "make new placed item". The only result possible as far as I can tell is a link at the PDF's Art Box.
I've seached around and have seen others with the same issue, but no answers as to whether it is actually possible. As with most Applescript stuff, I am either way overthinking it or it is not possible directly.
Currently I have a workaround using an Applescript script controlling Acrobat to sidestep the problem by setting the Art and Crop box to Media box, then place as a link in Illustrator, but it is not a direct route into illustrator.
I have also noticed that in the "Adobe Illustrator CS5 Scripting Reference" that the "PDF options object properties" do not honor the PDF crop bounds (except for the default value of Media Box). Is this an inherent problem with Applescript/Illustrator and PDF crop boxes? Could it be that the options for Open PDF and Place PDF are crossed?
Thanks for any input on this, It has actually been a problem I could not get past for years.

The AppleScript Dictionary says the same as the OMV and Jongs helper… CropToBox for placing & pageToOpen for opening… For me a misleading doc mistake… And forgiven for the fact that it should dammed well be there in the first place…

  • Is it possible to run an operating system from an external hard drive?

Really weird question here, but I've always wanted to know this. I have a MBP 13" mid-2012 and I installed a 256GB SSD. I currently have OSX 10.9 and Windows 8.1 installed on the drive, but is it possible to actually run an operating system from an external hard drive. I don't want to install anymore operating systems onto the internal SSD because I don't want to run out of space. So, I'm wondering can I install Linux on an external hard drive, the same way I would on an internal hard drive and just plug it in via USB 3 or Thunderbolt? Is it actually possible to use a computer this way? I know I can boot from a usb stick, so is it possible to actually use a computer with an operating system installed in an external hard drive?

windows don't support being installed on usb mass storage installs like usb

  • Is it possible to install Windows 7 without using BCA to install drivers and using the support 5 software for drivers on my iMac 2014?

What I am wondering is if I can install Windows 7 on my iMac 2014 without using BCA to install drivers and using the manual download Support software without bricking my system. The issue is that I recently moved into the country without a reliable data connection, so I'd like to download all the drivers from when I'm in town generally. Any info is appreciated.

I'm trying to purchase inexpensive computers for my classroom. One of the computers I'm looking at is the new $200 HP Stream 11. My school's IT department said it might be difficult to install the district's copy of Windows 7 on these computers if I purchase them. Does anyone know if it's actually possible to uninstall Windows 8.1 and install Windows 7 using an external USB or external CD Rom Drive? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The District is right to say what they told you they can't install Disctrict Windows 7 on your computer because they have a license agreements with MS and doing so will violate their Terms of Agreement. And you shouldn't be asking something like that to start with. If that laptop can't install Windows 7 it then your stuck with WIndows 8 unless HP has downgrade to go back to Windows 7 on it otherwise if none exist you will not get any drivers or support for it. You best luck is to find a used Windows 7 laptop and order the HP recovery media for it and wipe it clean to factory install and register it to you and that will give you a Windows 7 maching to start with.

  • Transferring from the camcorder using S-Video IN/OUT port possible?

My DV port on my Panasonic NV-GS70 camcorder broke and thus I can't use the firewire cable anymore to transfer video on my Mac.
Repairing the port doesn't seems a viable inexpensive option. (Based on what I read on the Web.)
Now, the camcorder also has a S-Video IN/OUT port.
    My questions:
    - Is it actually possible to use this port to transfer video to a MAC?
    - If so, what kind of cable do I need?
I read about USB A/V capture device (such as this one: http://www.pinecomputer.com/dduusb20veca.html) but didn't manage to find one specifically for MAC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you.

The Eyetv Hybrid from El Gato will do this, and it will export to old versions of iMovie. However, I did a test on analog 8mm passed through an 8mm digital 8.
I tried both dv and s-video. Unfortunately the s-video would only import in black and white. I suspect this was due to the analog conversion, but I did not go back and test running digital dv through the s-video.
Of course, the same test through FireWire in dv was in full color. Just take that as a datapoint. It could just be my camera.
In your case, I would recommend that you monitor eBay and pick up a used dv camcorder.

  • Is 'rolling back' possible?

Would like to do an OS roll back to 3.1.2. Is it actually possible and if so how? I have no backups prior to 3.1.3 so can't do a system restore.

Having a problem ever since I updated with 3.1.3. I posted to another thread this morning, but the short of it is that ever since the update, my ipod won't rotate the screen when trying to go to landscape mode. For youtube it will work fine, but if I'm using Safari and rotate the ipod, it won't work, nor will it work for any applications that require tilting or turning. Also been having a LOT of freezing up and crashing which can only be resolved with a reboot. I tried a system restore but that didn't work. I've only found one other person who's having this same issue, and can't seem to find any answers anywhere. I thought if I could try to downgrade to the previous OS and see if that fixes it, then I'd know it's not my ipod itself, but the software acting up.

  • Is it possible to partially export a video using frame blending?

For example, I have a video intro that, after being uploaded and processed on YouTube, looks very choppy. However, if I export it using frame blending, it looks perfectly fine. The down side is that the rest of the video looks somewhat more blurry, as frame blending tends to do. I like how fluid the intro is when frame blended, but I perfer the rest of the video when it's just exported normally. I found an option called frame blend under the clip's video options, making me think that I could fix my problem, but it didn't seem like it did anything at all when I exported it. Is what I'm trying to achieve actually possible, or will I just have to deal with it, one way or the other?

    1.  I export in H.264 with the preset HDTV 720p 29.97 fps High Quality. I would use the YouTube preset, but it compresses the audio to a point where it sounds terrible. I'm sure there's a way to fix this, but I don't know enough about it to do so myself.
    2.  My sequence also runs at 29.97 fps.
    3. The intro consists of several game capture clips all .avi at what I think is 29 fps. Many of the clips are sped up to at least 200%.

  • Is it possible to do an interactive simulation of a software package using Captivate or similar?

I have Captivate 6. I want my users to do some actions on a screen from an in-house software package and then test the entries made. I need to simulate a graphical-based (rather than text-based) system wherein they click on certain items to produce a desired result.
Is this kind of thing actually possible with Captivate 8 or another adobe product in the eLearning suite...or something else?

    Christian,
This can be a little tricky at first. Try this:
    1. Remove the order by clause from the query.
    2. Log out of the application, not the builder, just the application.
    3. Log back in and try using the options in the interactive report to sort the information.
    Does it work? If so:
    4. Get the order the way you would like it as the default. Note: you get more sort options if you use the Action Menu (grind wheel) and selecting Sort over just clicking the column headers.
    5. Save the report by selecting the Save Report option from the Action Menu. If you see a drop down, save the report as the "default".
    6. Log out of the application again and back in.
    Does it work?

  • Selection Screen Variant (optionally default) -I dont think it's possible!?

I have spent a lot of time looking at this issue - researching forums/sap help/on the system  - so any help appreciated...
On the selection screen (for tx me59n) is it actually possible for users to set a variant as default on the selection screen?  It's actually that I want "Test Run" to be defaulted.
    This is the ideal scenario:
    - The selection criteria variant is created centrally (or even individually by the user)
    - The user can then optionally set this variant as their default selection criteria for the transaction
    - Next time the user runs the transaction, the defualt variant is used
What I do not want is:
    - User having to select the variant each time they run the transaction
    - The variant always being default (it should only be default when user decides they want it as such)
Any ideas?  I can't see that it's possible....?
    thanks in advance,
    Matt

I've been trying SHD0 alot, but doesnt seem to work - again, i've spent time reading and trying it out but with no luck.
This is how I'm doing it to try to default "Test Run" checkbox for ME59n
    - Run transaction SHD0
    - Input "ZDefault" into Transaction Variant field
    - Click create
    - ME59n loads
    - I tick "Test Run" (which is what I want defaulting for the transaction)
    - Click save
    - It prompts me to create screen variant
    - I input ZTEST_VARIANT and click save
    - I get a pop-up box which I enter ZTEST_VARIANT to name field but dont make any other changes
    - Get message saying ZTEST_VARIANT saved
    - Click back to Transaction Variant screen
    - Save it as a local object
    - Get message saying "Trans Variant and Screen Variant Saved"
    - Click back to initial SHD0 screen
    - Click TEST to try it out.
    - ME59n loads, but "Test Run" is not checked - the variant appears not to have been loaded at all.
I run ME59n independently and still nothing seems to get loaded when I run the transaction. Although the new screen variant is availbale in the variant list, which if I select it it works perfectly.  But I want make it default??? How do I do it?
    Any ideas what i'm missing?
Usually I can figure these things out pretty quickly, but this one has me stumped!
    thanks
    Matt

  • Zen Neeon - possible to replace batte

I am considering buying the Zen Neeon for my girlfriend for her birthday. She is primarily going to use it whilst exercising and jogging.
The only concern I have is the fact that it does not appear to be possible to replace the lithium ion battery. I see little point in spending that much money on a gadget only to have to throw it out after 2 or 3 years because the battery has given up the ghost.
So basically all I want to know is whether it is actually possible to replace the battery in the future and the likely cost of doing so.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated

frankly speaking, I don't think what Brian say are in anyway unconstructi've since you have express yourself being very concern about the battery especially.... I believe many others would say the same thing to you too.....You can change to buying player like their muvo series, v200, n200 player,etc.......these player uses AAA battery and it's easily available anywhere when you need it and it's definitely still available 0-20 years down the road. To top it off, you could use rechargeable AAA battery to go with these player.....also microdri've harddisk are the same as harddisk you used in your pc.....they are just very much smaller in size only.....so it isn't advisable to go with such player for vigorous activity.....the music won't skip on such player might the head/platter of the harddisk might get damage....a flash based player would be a better suggestion......Message Edited by BadBoy on 2-5-2005 02:05 PM
