JUImageControl locks up application

after opening viewing and then selecting a different image the application stops responding. It seems it has trouble loading the next image. Is there a cache for this? I cant seem to debug the app because it works ok on the first 2 or 3 images.

You need to open the Printer Setup Utility and use the menu to "Reset Print System", then add your printers.

Unique ID For Node Locking an Application?

I want to restrict the computers that a client application can run on. My original idea was to refuse server access outside of a restricted set of MAC addresses, but it seems difficult to grab the MAC address in a platform neutral way. (assume DHCP evironment so IP addresses may not be stable). Does anyone know of a way to access a hardware unique ID for doing a sort of node locking?

Would the CommAPI ( http://java.sun.com/products/javacomm/ ) and a dongle help?

Locking on application level

Hi,
We would like our developments to work in the same way as standard SBO works, but we have a problem with locking.
E.g. Business partner master data works in the following way:
1. I start it twice, open the same business partner in both window and change something in both window. After that both wondow are in Update mode.
2. In one of the two windows I push the Update button (save the changes).
3. From this in the other window when I try to update changed datas an error messge appears: "[OCRD], 'Another user-modified table 'BP' (ODBC-2039)'. And it's independent of the first window. Either it remains open or I close it (OK or Cancel) I can't update tha datas in the secont window. It's very good.
We can use this locking algoritm in our development. Does anybody know how can it be done?
StarTransaction and EndTransaction aren't enough to solve this problem. In case described above during the update (between StartTransaction and EndTransaction) the updated database records are locked, but after commit I can update datas in the second window too without refress from database. It's absolutely incorrect.

I think this is a bug; it should not matter whether you work on data in the application - or through one of the interfaces: The result should always be the same.
Could you report what you found to SAP Support?

Bad File Permissions, Locked Files, Applications and Drives

I've been running in to a huge problem the last few days and I can't find a solution short of a complete archive and reinstall. The problem started with photoshop CS3; I couldn't open the application because it said that it was locked and to go into the 'get info' panel and change it. Well, it's not locked and nothing I did could change that. Shortly after this, I started getting folders and files that would keep changing their permissions so I wouldn't have access to them any more. I kept getting the "Unknown" user in the 'Get Info' panel of these files and folders. While trying to find a solution to that, I could no longer add files to the Trash without immediately emptying it. I tried the steps from this post but nothing worked:

After trying all this, All of my drives except my Main Boot Drive locked itself and I can't figure out what's going on. I have never had this many problems happen in the 12+ years of owning a Mac. could someone please help me.

I went back to 10.4.11. Right before the upgrade to 10.5 I bought a new hard drive and cloned my old system to it and then upgraded. When my machine became completely unusable, I was able to just through in my old drive. I didn't loose that much, but it's still frustrating. I'm still dealing with all my external drives being Locked or the permissions are so messed up that it might as well be locked. I'm gonna be waiting for 10.5.4 before I even think of upgrading again. Worst system upgrade I've EVER had to do.

User locks planning application

Dear all,
sometimes I experience the issue that an user enters data in a BI Planning application for his company and exits the application by closing the browser, but the locking (TA rsplan) remains. If the same user wants to enter data later on he has no entry ready cells.
How can this happen. What is the correct way to unlock the BI Planning after exit the application.
Any ideas would be great.

This happens when planning application is not closed properly (closing the browser, lost connection)
The proper way of exiting the application is with predefined logout , exit buttons.
The locks in the system can be removed in transaction SM12

I want to password protect access to some applications and allow other people to use my iPad to play games etc. Any advice?

Sorry, but you cannot lock Pages. There may be other word processing apps that allow you to lock documents, though I don't know of any.
For calendars and mail, there is no practical way to do that and still allow someone to use your iPad unless you can access your calendars and mail via a web interface, in which case you can just use a web browser for your mail and schedule, and log out of your mail/calendar site when you're done.

I was wondering if there's an application or something that I can use to lock certain apps. Just like a passcode because i don't want it restricted and I don't want a passcode on my whole phone. I know there's an app called lockdown from cydia but I don't want to jailbreak my iphone. I don't think apple makes an app for this right now, is there a way to suggest an application?? Please help!!

Not sure I'm in the right place but here goes. As the title says really - I've got to take my iMac to have a repair done and they want to keep it for a couple of days. I'd like to leave it with them so they cannot open Mail as it as various financial emails I wouldn't want read. I know I could archive off the emails before I hand it over but making the application unopenable would be a lot easier. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Preventing Mail from starting wouldn't prevent access to the e-mails. Mail stores the e-mails as simple text files. If the e-mails were encrypted, they wouldn't be readable, but chances are that they are not encrypted since nearly nobody uses encrypted e-mail.
If you are worried about it, use Disk Utility to create an encrypted disk image large enough to hold your Library/Mail folder, and move the Library/Mail folder into it. Unmount it. After you get your computer back, remember to open the disk image and copy your Mail folder back to where it was.
Nobody will be able to access data within the encrypted disk image without the password you assign to it. The data will be completely unreadable to a casual observer.
I should add that you should also backup whatever data you might miss before you give your computer up -- there's always the possibility that the hard disk won't survive the round-trip. Since you have a backup anyway, you could probably get away with simply deleting the contents of the Mail folder and then copying them back after you get your computer back.

How can I replace a damaged Image Capture in locked Lion Application folder?

I am running a MacBook Air on 10.7.2. Image Capture is "damaged or incomplete" and cannot be opened. I have a copy of IC from my other mac running Lion, but cannot copy it into the Apps folder on my MacBook Air because IC cannot be modified or deleted since it is "needed by Mac OS X." Is there an easy way to unlock the Apps folder? Thanks.

I finally figured out a way to do this. I right-clicked to show the package contents for the corrupted application. Then copied in the contents from a functioning version. Gave administrator permission to make the change. Relaunched the finder and the damaged application was back up and running and no longer greyed out.

Visual Editor locking up application

It's been a long standing bug that when I open up a file called Header.jsp it locks up JDeveloper. The entire UI becomes responsive, and I need to kill off the process and start it back up to continue working.
Is there anyway to turn off the visual editor so it will not hang JDeveloper since I never use it anyway? Or is there a fix for JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 that works around the jsp issues?

I cannot paste the code due to it being a closed project. However setting the default editor to source fixed it, thank you so much! If I ever figure out what's hanging up the visual editor with the jsp code I'll be sure to post an example here for anyone interested.
I've been through the preferences at least a hundred times over the course of the years and have never noticed the file types settings.
