July 2014 update from HTC breaks WiFi

My wife and I received an update from HTC via VZW OTA and now neither phone will connect to the home Wifi. It doesn't connect to the WiFi at work and I'm seeing a lot of complaints on various forums about the update causing problems with WiFi for the 8x.
What was this update supposed to do and when will this issue be resolved?

Oops, I am so use to replying to android I just replied.
In any case Verizon may push it out for the maker of the device HTC be it androids or windows. The code did not come from Verizon.
Lets have HTC tell you the code was from Verizon.
The support is under the manufacturers warranty minus any water or physical damage.
Its just like customers yelling about updates to apple devices when Verizon does nothing to push them out. They cannot win.

Apple Software Update from HP breaking scanning on C6180

Anyone else have this problem?
I'm running 10.5.6 on multiple computers in my office - some Intel, some not. We use a Airport and a wireless HP C6180 printer for fax/scan/print. All works fine. Apple pushes an HP update to my computer through software update. I install it. Scanning doesn't work. I download the drivers from HP and install them. Scanning works. Then Apple wants to push the same "update" to me again through Software Update.
What would be the best way to notify Apple and HP that there is a problem with the "update" at least with respect to the C6180?
And, as a side note, any way to stop the "update" from showing up every time I run Software Update? Right now it always shows up pre-checked which means I need to uncheck it or I'll lose the ability to scan and have to go through the process of downloading the drivers from HP again which is a bit time consuming.

I thought I had the same problem...Searching these forums, I found that HP is NOT supporting MAC for the 6100 searies any more...They suggest upgrading to a HP printer that they are supporting for MACs...
I suggest going buying something other then HP...That's what I'm going to do.
Epson makes a nice MAC supported printer. I don't eremember the model but chack mac/life as they rated it highly for about $200 (about $150 in bestbuy and it duplexes too).

Restore from iTunes breaks wifi, iOS 6 to iOS 8

I recently switched from a 3gs to an unlocked apple factory refurb 4s. I used restore from computer backup on iTunes to transfer data and set up new phone.
Phone functioned fine for about 2 weeks, and at that point, wifi failed. Traded it in on warranty for another one, restored from iTunes again, and both wifi and bluetooth failed in less than 24 hours.
Tech at Apple Store said that restoring from computer on iTunes can put old, vestigial code on new phone, which can break the phone. He said I should set it up as new phone, and use iCloud to transfer data. He helped me set it up and do that, and while the process is not complete, it appears to me that there is no way to transfer some data, particularly on iMessage, onto the new phone. There is data on there that I need to retain access to. Is there any way to transfer that data to the new phone with out restoring from backup on computer? Alternately, is there anyway to set this new phone up by restoring from backup on computer without breaking it?

I am in the same situation. I tried to update my ipad with IOS 8. I have successfully downloaded the software and when I clicked install the ipad went into recovery mode. I assumed that its part of the upgrade process. It asked me to connect to iTunes which I did. This never happened in any of the previous upgrade. How much ever I try the ipad never got out of the recovery mode. The only way was to restore the ipad. I assumed I would get an option to restore from the last backup which I did last night so I was confident that I am not losing any data. Surprisingly it never gave me an option from where it could restore and went all the way to restore to factory settings. And alas I see the ipad is restored to IOS 8.0 but with factory settings as brand new one. And now I don't see any of the previous backup's even existing. It has erased all the previous backups.
Can you f...ing believe it. Apple can get so dumb ...no one could even imagine. It think it all died with Jobs.

IPhone 5 dead after July 2014 update

MY iPhone 5 is dead after update. Apple has no answers but to sell me a new phone. Any good advice ?

Yup, since Cyberstore performed unauthorized service on the device, the warranty for your iPhone has been voided, and that even includes the $79 battery replacement option from Apple or the $269 Out of Warranty option from Apple.
You have a paperweight now. Sell it for parts to someone that performs unauthorized service, like Cyberstore. Maybe they'll use it for parts to void another person's iPhone.
Next time, don't get unauthorized service done on your iPhone.

Type problem into Safari and many folks having same problems wig Hulu and other video/TV apps crashing repeatedly! It's EXTREMELY irritating and aggravating! The apps didn't crash like that until AFTER the latest operating system update for iPads was pushed/downloaded.

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

I have a Mac OS 10.9.4. After the last OS update on 11.July.2014 Flash stopped working. Why and how can I fix it?

All of a sudden my computer stopped allowing me to watch Youtube videos or anything involving Adobe Flash software. I tried uninstalling Flash and reinstalling it, I've tried changing my cookies... everything that I find on different forums and I still can't get videos to play. On the Flash website it says that the latest flash model, version 14.0.0.145, works with Macs OS 10.6-10.9. Does that mean that flash is incapable of working with a Mac 10.9.4? I can't believe that the mac community stopped watching Youtube after the last update and nothing's been done. Has anyone else experienced this problem and more importantly found a way to fix it?

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.

Looks like you restored your backup file to her phone. If you didn't back up your wife's phone first, then the data is gone, sorry.

After updating from CC to new 2014 updates Lightroom would not go from 'Library' to 'Develop' - develop screen was greyed out showing the message 'Develop module is disabled. I have just updated from CC to CC 2014 and was not given the option to migrate settings for Illustrator as I was for Photoshop. How can I do this?

I don't know if this is the easiest way to do it, but it works.
Hard Drive> Users (choose your name) > Library (if you don't see the Library - View> View Options> Show Library Folder) >Application Support > Adobe
You should see Adobe Illustrator 17 & 18 folders
Adobe Illustrator 17> en_US in this folder you will find your saved Brushes, Swatches, Symbols etc...
Open the Adobe Illustrator 18> en_US and manually place any of files from Ai 17 into the appropriate folders in Ai 18. Restart Ai 18 and check to see that everything is in place.

If you had Illustrator you could take advantage of smart objects.
Has been awhile since I worked in Corel (so do not remeber if Corel had clipboard settings whcih need adjusuting), but do remember copying a path, getting that into Phothshop as shape layer for part of the artowrk in a trade show poster.

Does WiFi stay intact if you update from 10.8.4 to Mavericks ?

Thank you for replying. No, I wasn't asking that. As I read reports earlier, that updating from 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 caused the WiFi connection to cut out, and stay down, I stayed with 10.8.4.
As I now want to install the new security patch, I have to update. ...... to something ! So my question is: does updating from 10.8.4 directly to mavericks also cause the WiFi connection to cut out ?
