Jumbled ad image shows up on transparent backgrounds

On any page with a transparent background, a jumbled image from an ad shows up. It also peeks out through transparent parts of images etc. and won't go away even if I kill Firefox and restart it.
A picture is [http://thsi.org/firefox.jpg here]; the problem doesn't show up in a screenshot.

I totally forgot to put that in my post.  Yes, I am putting logos with transparent backgrounds in front of colored rectangles.  That's how I noticed that this one logo is showing up with a white background.  The weird thing is that the other two logos are fine.  I did find a different version of this logo and this one works fine.  The one that works fine is a JPG and the one that shows up with a white background is a JPG.

  • Insert an image button with a transparent background?

I would like to be able to use an image button with a
transparent background. I have converted my graphic files to .gifs
with transparent backgrounds. But when imported into Captivate,
they have a white background. If I insert as an image button and
check "transparent" it turns the entire image transparent. Is it
possible to have a transparent background when using the image
    button functionality in Captivate? Thanks!

I still cannot get this work. Does anyone have anymore help?
I have .gif files for the image button with a transparent
background. When I insert into Captivate as an image I can click
the option for a transparent background, and the image appears in
my Captivate project with a transparent background. Now, what I
really want to do is insert this into my project as a button. I
insert this into Captivate as an image button (there is no option
for a transparent background) and the image appears in my Captivate
project with a white background. Is it possible to have an image
button with a transparent background? Do I need to do a workaround
(something like, use my image along with a transparent button or
clickbox on top of the image?) Thanks for the help.

  • When viewing some websites my desktop background image shows as the page background...why...and how do I fix this?

It seems that the current version of Firefox does not understand how to process style sheets. Instead of the stylesheet background color or image, I am now seeing my PC's desktop background image. This does not happen with IE or Chrome. When checking the error console, I get "Warning: Unknown property 'zoom'. Declaration dropped. Source File: http://trustserve.net/themes/ModernBlue/templates_cached/EN/global.css Line: 4"
I am not trying to zoom.
Any ideas on how to fix this. I can't use Firefox with these problems and I really liked it prior to these problems.

I thought I had it disabled. I enabled aero and then disabled to be sure, and still have the problem, but that was a very good idea. Thanks.
The problem started shortly after I installed two new programs, a graphics program, and an anti-virus. I just removed both programs and restarted the computer and that seems to have solved the problem. Your idea about Aero gave me the idea that one, or both of these programs changed some of my system settings. I am now going to install them, one at a time, and see if the transparency problem returns. I'll post my findings.

  • Question about images with transparent backgrounds in inDesign

    Hi,
I've recently switched from Quark to inDesign CS5.5, and I'm trying to figure out how to do something that was easy in Quark but doesn't seem to work in iD. I'd like to colorize a greyscale image that has a transparent background. In Quark, I could import it as a TIF and then specify different colors for the image and background (which I could specify to be transparent). In iD, seems that the transparency needs to be included in Photoshop (which wasn't the case in Quark; the method worked for any greyscale TIF), and that I need to chage the color of the in original image if I want to keep that transparency. Also, from what I've read, the imported image works better as a PSD.
Is this correct? Does the transparency and color need to be specified in Photoshop for me to have a transparent image? (The image is too complex to include a clipping path, and it's being placed on a photographic background, so I can't simply change the bckground image to a solid color to make it blend in).
If this is the case, it's really disappointing--I was able to get some great effects in Quark using the other method. I hope I'm misunderstanding what to do, or there's some kind of workaround.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    --Harriet

ID will only colorize non-transparent grayscales or bitmap mode images. If you don't need continuous tone, saving in Bitmap mode will render the white areas transparent when you colorize ( if the frame itself has no fill color, else that fill color will show), but that's not much good if you need a true grayscale. Changing the blending mode of a colorized grayscle to Multiply will cause white areas to be come transparent, but other areas will multiply over any background, which may not be what you want, either.

  • Images in themes no longer have transparent background after upgrade?

I've just upgraded to iLife 09 and also Snow Leopard. Unfortunately when I open iDVD the 7.0 themes won't load properly. There is no dropzone in the Revolution theme and the Sunflower theme moving images no longer have transparent background so have black backgrounds. Even the Apple icon has a black background, it's as though the gifs have gone to jpegs and no longer transparent??
Older themes seem to work better but the Apple icon always has a black background?
I've deleted the preferences for iDVD but it hasn't helped & loaded all the updates that the system is telling me to. Any ideas?

Hi thanks for reply & the useful app. I've deleted and reinstalled just iDVD v7 but I still have the same problem. Indeed reading around it looks like older macs cannot handle the new version but my iMac is relatively new so assume many more folks would have the same issue but I can't find anyone else with the same issue as me? Also these exact same themes ran fine before my upgrades (OS & iLife) All other apps run fine.
I did burn a disk & the quality was terrible on a DVD player, fine on a PC/Mac. I thought I hadn't selected PAL but all the settings seemed ok but its B&W and scratchy from the DVD player.

  • Images with transparent backgrounds in MDM

I've got several images in MDM with transparent backgrounds, yet when i look at these in image manager (or thumbnails in data manager) they look terrible. The transparency is black for example, among other issues. These images are all okay in photoshop, they have been saved as .png and imported through the data manager.
Has this import ruined these image files on the way in? When my search engines etc extract the images, what of the transparencies?

    Hi Adam,
MDM makes use of Internet Explorer quite frequently. I can imagine that this engine is also used to display images in MDM. However, Internet Explorer in version 6 does not support transparency in PNG images. That is why the black background occurs.
Since your images after upload are only saved in a binary object in the database, you should not encounter any data loss when using the same images. If you need to create variants, I would consider using Photoshop for the creation of those.
I hope that helps you further.
    Best regards
    Christian

  • Image showing as transparent

I wrote small program that acts like a button but is in fact a Canvas object that draws an image of (custom) button. The entire image shows up as transparent when it's drawn. Does anyone know why this might be happenning?

Thanks for the reply....but I did figure out what I was doing wrong and I got it to work just fine now.

  • REALLY need some help with transparent background

This is really starting to bug me now as I have searched the forums and the web for hours and still cannot get this to work.
I am creating a simple one page site at http://freeselfhelpebooks.org/50ofTheBestPDProducts/
I want the header and footer image to have a transparent background with only the text showing, so that the text shows on the background image.
So far I have created the header image with a transparent background Modify > Canvas > Canvas Colour > Transparent all good so far.  I have added some text.  Then I save as file type PNG 32, however I still get the background as white as you can see above.
I have tried PNG 8 with alpha transparency, no transparency but to no avail.  I have even downloaded Photoshop CS6 and have the same issues.  What am I doing wrong here?

First of all, your header graphic is fine; it's a transparent PNG. Your footer is a JPEG, which does not support transparency, so you need to resave that file into a different format (like PNG32, or PNG8 w/alpha transparency).
As I was trying to suggest, if you're confused about your graphics, check them in a graphics editor or viewer, not in a web page inside a web browser. Web development is a complex beast, and a lot can go wrong.
In the HTML of your web page, there is a class called "content" being applied to tables and images. This class has a background image being applied to it, which is responsible for the white background on those elements.

  • Slider in header with transparant background?

    Hi there!
On this website www.bmgraphics.be (which I'm working on right now ) I would like to have an image slider which shows (if possible, transparant background png's) and which I can slide (or at least the visitor can slide) by clicking on arrows or...
Does anyone know how to get this fixed or some good jquery websites?
    Thanks!

  • Masking and clip art with transparent backgrounds

I'm new to iWeb and am creating a travel blog. So far love the simplicity of it. However, when I try to add clip art type images or graphics with transparent backgrounds I always get a white border around them. I have tried to mask or crop the border out but no dice. Any help?!
Also, if anyone can recommend a good source for travel or photo related clip art let me know. The iWeb "Roadtrip" template seems to have some cute items - maps, scissors, tape, etc. - but there is not much there.
    Thanks everyone.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That's the default border for added image files. Go to the Inspector/Graphic pane and take off the frame/stroke that is added by default.
Be sure to post a request to remove that default border at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html. The more complaints the better.

  • How can I export a file with transparent background?

    Hi all,
I know InDesign doesn't allow to export a PNG file, but I need my file to be in image file format with transparent background.
I'm still learning so I am stuck here. How can I export a file with transparent background?

If you can't get the PNG file export to work, you can export a pdf and open it in Photoshop, from there you can save it as whatever you like.

  • Why is Photoshop printing transparent backgrounds ?

I have this problem only with CS4 Photoshop, I have a OKI C711WT (CMYW) and for some reason when an image (CMYK) has a transparent background, PS will print it with a solid black or white, I have to take my .psd AS IS and print it on CorelDraw on the very same machine where the transparency doesn't print, I have tried GIMP and that also prints correctly.
Is there any strange setting I am missing for printing with white ink with transparencies ?

It could be that you specified bad settings either in Photoshop or the printer driver -- both have color controls.
(or on some printers, even settings from the printer console)
Without you telling us exactly what settings you used, we don't know.

  • Image with transparent background shows up with a white background in ID

    Amateur needs help.
I have a copy of a logo with a transparent background.  I made the (white) background transparent in PS by creating a layer from background and then selecting the white color in the background and deleting it.  This has always worked in the past.  But when I place this image into ID, it shows up with a white background.  I have tried saving as a PSD, TIF, JPG, etc.  I cannot get it to work.
I normally research these things until I find an answer, but I am on a tight deadline.  Thanks!

  • When inserting a .pdf of a document with a standard white paper color the test and images show up, but the white background is transparent. How do you also make the white paper color show up?

When inserting a .pdf of a document into a Keynote template with a standard white paper color the text and images show up, but the white background is transparent. How do you also make the white paper color show up?

Use the color fill option - select the inserted .pdf and assign a fill color of white to it using the Color Fill Menu on the Toolbar or the Color Picker Palette.
    Good Luck.

  • Printing Images with Transparent Background

Sorry if this question has already been asked, but I couldn't find anything similar to it in a search through the archives.
I have a couple of images with transparent backgrounds in a document, much like the shells and the blue flowers in the "Classic Brochure" template in Pages 2.0.1. These images show up perfect on the screen, and when printed as .pdf files, but when I print to either an hp color laserjet 4600 or an hp laserjet 1320, the images show up with a clear box around them; the colors under the box (where it should be transparent) are faded and slightly blurred. This happens both with my document, and the unaltered "Classic Brochure" template. I've tried moving various objects backwards and forwards, but it doen't seem to have any effect. It even happens with one of the text boxes I have in the document.
Another odd thing is that the printed "box" isn't the same size as the box that appears when you click on the object in the document. It's a bit bigger. I've seen other posts about problems with hp printers, but I'm not sure it's related. Any insight would be appreciated.
