Jump Menu/Anchor Point

Hello,
Is there a way I can add an anchor point like you can on a webpage into an Adobe document? I'm not sure if anchor point is the right word, jump menu maybe? For example  if they click on A it will jump to the A section at the top of the page. I am using Adobe Creative Suite 5.
Thank you.

It can easily be done with the link tool.
Alternately, you can use bookmarks.
Both require Acrobat.

  • Jump menu to anchor created by javascript

I have a page that shows sample images from a client's book
using a javascript gallery found at this site
    http://www.couloir.org/js_slideshow/
It works great. The script advances the pages by using
    Element.setHref(this.prevLink, "#" + (photoId+1)); so that when
next or previous is clicked, it creates a link at the top like
    www.mypage.com/book.htm#2 www.mypage.com/book.htm#3 etc.
My client however would also like a list of the pages
available from a menu so the viewer can jump to any page at any
time. I've created a jump menu with the links for each of the 37
pages. However, when selected, the url appears in the top address
bar, but the page will not jump unless I hit Enter on the keyboard.
I've tried using a Go button, and same thing.
Any other external link will function from teh menu fine, so
I think it has something to do with the fact that these # pages
aren't really anchors on the same page, beacuse the javascript
creates them. But since they do work when I hit Enter, I'm
wondering if there is a way I can get the menu to load them.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. The sample I'm working
    on is at

    Hi Lucas
    Answering the questions :
    1. You are referring to auto scroll position  , where the users while scrolling should stop at a fixed position on page thus jumping to anchor position as you have mentioned, something like this :
http://www.apple.com/iphone-5s/. Unfortunately the exact effect cannot be achieved in Muse but anchor to fixed page position and scroll can be setup.
    2. You can try applying scroll to the items , for example insert the squares in some container so that they are grouped and then apply scroll to container with no left/right movement , this would fix the position of container on page irrespective of other page elements and page movement.
    3. You can apply opacity with scroll to images , so that when users scroll the page Opacity will change, thus with scroll the image will get better.
    Thanks,

  • Anchor point not working with pinned page navigation link

Anchor point at top of page, named top, does not function when clicking on pinned navigation link text.  Correct link has been made in the Links menu.  What procedure might overcome this functional problem?
I have the same type of anchor point named 'top' on other pages and the pinned navigation link works fine on those pages.  For some reason only one page shows this problem.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Try moving the 'top' anchor down a little bit. I have run into a few issues when the anchor was to close to the top of the canvas for example JS not smooth scrolling, it would just jump to the top or it would not do a thing like what you are experiencing.

  • Anchor points move and entire shape gets distorted from changing stroke thickness

I have a fairly simple drawing that I drew at a larger size so I could be precise with it, and now I want to reduce it down to the finished size, and thicken the stroke, but when I make the stroke thicker, my anchor points move and the entire drawing gets distorted.
In 24 years of using Adobe Illustrator, I've never seen this happen. When I click on the "up" arrow on the Stroke palette a bunch of times to incrementally increase the stroke thickness, I can watch the anchor points "walk" around as my shape gets distorted.
If I instead enter a numerical value for the stroke thickness, this doesn't happen.
However, if I use the Scale tool to shrink the drawing down to 10% or 20% size or whatever, with Scale Strokes and Effects UNCHECKED, again, the anchor points move and the drawing is distorted.
This is all on a brand new installation of Illustrator CS 6 for Mac (though I've been using CS 6 for about 2 years now, my hardrive crashed this past weekend and I had to reinstall everything).
Did I miss a little checkbox somewhere that I've never seen before that's making this happen?
    Editing this post to add:
Also, some of the objects in my drawing will not allow me to change the stroke to less than 1 point thickness. If I choose .5 or .25 pt from the pop-up menu, or even if I enter the numerical value, it jumps back to 1 point. Other objects in the drawing do not.
These objects in question are "rounded rectangle" shapes that I've used the scissor tool on to cut and then used the "join" command to put them together with parts of other shapes that were "scissored' as well.
All of the "Ellipse" and "Rounded Rectangle" shapes that I left intact do not exhibit this problem with stroke and distortion.

You are being bitten by the Align-to-Pixel-Grid. Select everything and go to the Transform panel and turn off Align-to-Pixel-Grid at the bottom of the panel; then go to the panel flyout (small triangle, upper right) and turn off Align Objects to Pixel Grid.

  • Problems with anchor points on Pages 5.2.2

i have Pages 5.2.2 and Mavericks 10.9.5.  I noticed I could not follow on from a previous paragraph on a simple wordprocessing page.  No inserted tables or media inserts, just straight forward writing.  The hidden symbols shows that it is a 'lollipop ' symbol - an anchor point for objects set to move with text.  The online help instructs to go to the format inspect and choose Arrange.  On my version the latest there are ino STYLE IMAGE ARRANGE boxes.  On the menu there is ARRANGE but everything is greyed out, even when I highlight the text involved.  How do I delete the anchor point, please

It is also possible for objects to hang out off the page, try lassoing them with the mouse and command key held down.

  • How do I make a selection on a jump menu open in a "blank" or secondary window?

Please (anybody) if you can help me with this issue, I would greatly appreciate it!
I am attempting to use the jump menu form feature in Dreamweaver. Everything in the feature works fine until I get to "Open URLs in: ....". For some reason only the option for "MAIN WINDOW" drops down and not an option for "NEW WINDOW". At this point I have spent way to much time searching for a solution, even to the point of reinstalling Dreamweaver to no avail. Can someone please take a look at my code and tell me how I can alter the code to make each jump menu link items open in a separate (blank) window. I'm not the best with code, but if you tell me exactly where to put each line of code I can do it!
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Trying to meet a deadline and ran into this unexpected issue.
    Here is the link: http://www.graphicmechanic.com/DEKALBCOUNTY/portals/visiting-dekalb/index.html
Just in case it helps with the explanation of my problem, I've attached an image of what I'm seeing in the DW jump menu window.

  • Why i am unable to select between 2 anchor points with in a object while dragging with direct select

why i am unable to select between 2 anchor points with in a object while dragging with direct selection tool instead it moves

Another option is to temporarily change your view to outline mode, when your done switch back to preview mode. Ctrl-Y or View>Outline {View>Preview} The menu option will change depending on which mode you are in.
And another option, double click on the object in question to place it in Isolation mode. You can now edit to your hearts content. When done, click on the gray border at top of document.
So as you can see there are multiple ways of accomplishing the same thing.

  • Anchor Points Refuse To Join

I have been making a simple object using just the pen tool and the line segment tool. I joined all of the points on the object, but two of the anchor points refuse to join. I have tried using Command>J. I also tried averaging and then joining via the object menu. It always comes up with an error that says "open endpoints are not selected / not on the same path" when they clearly are.
Below is a screen shot. The point that's selected is the point in question. All of the other points joined without issue. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks for the reply. I tried moving the points back and forth as you recommended and made sure that there were just two points. I  tried ungrouping and regrouping the objects to make sure they wre not separated, I even tried re-creating the line segment in question sevral times using three different tools. Unfortunately it is still giving me the same error.
Here is an image of the object without the segment in place with arrows pointing to where the open anchors are.

  • Direct Selection Tool will not choose individual "path" anchor points

    Photohsop CS4, 11.0.1
Mac OSX 10.4.11, MacPro, Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 2.66 GHz, 9GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT-256 MB VRAM, 500GB Startup HD, 500GB HD (wlhere file resides and scratch disk), OpenGL enabled
I am unable to select individual anchor points and line segments of a path, although the anchor points appear to be individually highlighted, copying them copies the entire path, not just the selected points, and deleting them deletes the entire path, not just the selected points. In effect the "hollow arrow" direct selection tool is working like the "solid arrow path selection" tool.
I ran Disk Warrior, repaired disk permissions. I deleted old preferences by renaming file with Photoshop closed, and then restarted photoshop.
After calling Adobe Tech Support, they are recommending I reinstall the entire CS4 suite, which I am hesitant to do. At the least I will lose all of my menu preferences in all programs. Should I just follow their advice and reinstall CS4?
    Thanks.

When you click on it with path selection tool (black arrow) which option is enabled in options bar at top - add, subtract, intersect, or exclude?
    Can you combine paths?
Have you tried drawing a new path and selecting points on it?
Can you still add and subtract points?
Edit: Can you pull on the bezier handles?
Edit: is it a vector mask or a standalone path?
I'm trying to simulate your problem – in the meantime I'm brainstorming, not sure how else to help. It seems like something restarting the program would fix.
What about quitting the app. Then going to User: Library: Prefs: Adobe Photoshop CS4 paths, trash it then restart?

  • Anchor points and scrolling trouble in Muse

I set anchor points on a long page in Muse. I want to be able to click on a menu item and scroll down to that section in the layout. For some reason when I click on my menu the scroll effect doesn't work very well. It seems to stop early. Why is that? n It used to work fine?

  • Application windows remembering original anchor points when moving or resizing

Recently it seems that most of my windows, especially iTunes, Safari, and Finder, seem to retain the anchor points from when they were opened and revert to their original position if a window is resized. I've noticed the following odd behaviors that seem to be related to this problem:
After moving an iTunes or Safari window, right-clicking will open the context menu in a location that corresponds to where the window was originally placed.
After moving a window, a drag-n-drop target remains relative to where the window was. For example, in iTunes, if I open the application and move the window, it becomes impossible to drag a song into a playlist (unless I drag the song to the location where that playlist was when the window originally opened). The same sort of thing happens with Finder windows. In the image below, a screen grab of a Safari window, I right-clicked on the signal strength display pictured on the phone to the left; notice the context menu way off to the right of the Safari window.
Resizing a Safari window makes the window first snap back to the original location, then allows the resize to occur.
Opening/closing a tab in Safari, when the action causes the tab bar to appear or disappear, causes the Safari window to snap back to the original anchored position.
I've noticed this behavior over the past week or so. It was about a week ago that I installed the 10.9.5 update to the OS, but I'm not sure if the problem pre-dated the update or not.
This is driving me insane. Does anyone have any suggestions or, hopefully, a fix?
    Thanks.

You can try running the combo update.

  • How to Change the Location of the Anchor Point

    Hi
Very new to affter effects.... i was wondering if you guys could please tell me how to move the blue anchor for animation of text please.

If you just want to move the anchor point on your text layer you can do it by hand instead of going in and manually adjusting it from the transform menu as Dave suggested.
However, by what you've written it seems like there may be some confusion about what moving the anchor point actually accomplishes.  So just to clarify, the anchor point, or the small crosshair icon usually in the middle or corner of the layer, is actually a customizable location that essentially dictates the center around which the position, scale and/or rotation values will change when your layer is animated over time with keyframes.
For example, if you would like to move the anchor point so that your text rotates around a point near the corner of the layer, you can press the Y key to activate the Pan Behind Tool and move the anchor point to the corner.  If you have CS6 you can hold down the Command Key to lock the anchor point to the center, corner or edge of your layer.  A little square will appear around the Anchor Point when it's ready to lock.
If you've keyframed some of the properties on a layer and would like to temporarily see how your layer looks without messing up any animation you've done on it, simply duplicate the layer by selecting it in the Comp's layer panel and going to Edit - Copy and Edit - Paste.  That way you can do whatever you'd like on the duplicated layer wihout harming your original  Then do one or more of the following:
A.) You can reset all of the trnsform properties of the layer by clicking Reset.  This will set your layer back to it's default transform settings.
B.) Or, you can delete all of the keyframes on an individual property by clicking the stopwatch again.
C.) Also, clicking the light yellow diamond next to the Source Name will delete a single keyframe and the arrows on either side will move the playhead from keyframe to keyframe.  You can of course always delete keyframes manually by selecting them in the timeline and hitting delete.  Holding Shift will snap the playhead to each keyframe.
I hope this helps and if you're still having trouble I highly reccomend you start here to learn After Effects or go here for additional information.

  • Direct selection - moving anchor points with keyboard arrow keys

    Hi,
I am using Illustrator CC.  I just used the image trace tool to create a vector version of my company logo.  It worked pretty well, but I am now just trying to clean it up a bit.  I have a few anchor points that I just want to nudge up or down in the smallest increment possible.
I think it would be easier for me to do this using the keyboard arrow keys rather than using the mouse, but the arrow keys cause my selected anchor point to jump by way too large of a distance.  I checked to make sure Smart Guides, Snap to Grid, and Snap to Point are all turned off.  I can't think of anything else to do.
Can anyone tell me what controls how far the keyboard arrow keys will move an anchor point, and how I can set this to the smallest possible distance?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

Under Preferences (Command-K on Mac), on the first screen there is Keyboard Increment. This is the amount the arrow keys will move selected content, such as anchor points.
I usually keep this at "0.005 in", but when doing things that need extreme accuracy, I change it to "0.0002 in", which on my screen (2560 x 1600) is one pixel at AI's 6400% magnification.

  • Angry anchor points!

Suddenly, when I select an anchor point with my direct selection tool, I can't move to the precise point where I want. The point seems to jump to a random spot.
I've looked at my preferences, and can't find anything that I may have done to start this. It was working normally an hour ago...
