Jump to Slideshow

Hello,
I've built a DVD with a lot of clips of video, about six menus, and one slideshow. All the authoring seems fine. It works very well when I simulate it or play it in my MacBook Pro's DVD player.
There's a problem that has seemed to occur when the DVD plays back on standard DVD players: if the viewer hits "stop" on the remote control and then goes back to hit "play," the DVD will automatically jump to the slideshow.
The slideshow is not "First Play." That has been assigned to a welcome clip from the host that then end-jumps to the main menu. The slideshow is not even the primary button on any of the menus. It's also not assigned to the end-jump of any other items. The only way to get to the slideshow is to activate its button in one of the menus.
To my brain, if a viewer hits "stop" and then "play," the DVD should return to where it was in the track when the viewer stopped it. Alternately, going back to the main menu would not be horrible, nor would returning to the welcome clip at the very beginning. But defaulting to the slideshow is confusing and problematic.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
stef

Figured it out. Just added a chapter marker to end of movie track and set track end jump to slideshow. Not at all difficult.

  • Little Jump in Slideshow Dissolve

Newbie here, I made a slideshow with approx 100 images on a MAc monitor in DVD studio pro all fine, also when viewed on a TV monitor attached to same MAc, all fine. WHEN I output to dvd and play there is a little jump at the start of each dissolve, the image gets a acctually little better (better sharper definition and clarity) as it goes it goes into the dissolve and the next image settles back into a little softness as it come out on the other side of the dissolve.Has anyone seen this? and solved it!?

I am having the exact same problem, and have tested myself silly trying to solve this. The problem is definitely in the dissolve transition itself, because if I remove the dissolve transition, the problem goes away.
However, this creates another really weird question, such as why the transition would mess up the non-transition part of the rendering. The transition, and the point right before the transition looks fine: everything else (the still image) looks really bad.

  • Keynote slideshow glitches in iDVD

When I import a slide presentation from Keynote I want it to be manually advanced. I have all slides set to "on click." I have tried to export as an interactive QT as well as directly into iDVD. Both ways - once the show is imported and I play the show via iDVD either the first three slides get jumped through or sometimes just the first. Once it finishes this quick jumping the slideshow plays fine and advances simply on the clicks. I have switched the slides around and it doesn't matter what slides are there, it always jumps through the first or first three. When exported as an interactive slideshow the .mov plays fine as a stand alone. It is when imported into iDVD that the problem occurs.
BTW there is no audio on this -- so I don't face that issue with this presentation transfer to iDVD
    Peace,

I believe you mean Leopard. Here a cat, there a cat...
This might be a media issue.
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save as Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/6.0/en/18.html
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/image_to_diskstone.html
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Slideshow music to 'fit' to slideshow duration in iMovie

    Hello all,
I am an Apple convert, and recently bought a new 24" iMac with iLife 08.
I have had problems with iDVD photo slideshows, where the music 'jumps' throughout slideshows. So I've started using iMovie for slideshows instead.
However, I can't seem to find a way to make the music 'fit' to the slideshow duration...are there any tricks for this? or would iMovie 6 HD do a better job?
I hope you someone can provide some suggestions. Thank you.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
One of the features of im08 over other editing software is that it should do exactly what you are looking to do by you simply dropping music into the background. It should then trim the music to the length of the video and auto fade it as the video comes to an end.
Can you tell us exactly what it isn't doing for you.

  • Photos Not Displaying

    Hello,
I've just synced my entire iTunes library to my new 160Gb Classic, and then updated the s/w to version 1.0.2. I've never used the Classic on any of the previous versions so I don't know if this phenomenon is new to 1.0.2 or is specific to my ipod but...
I can see all my photos as thumbnails. If I select a photo and hit play to jump to slideshow I can see the photos perfectly well. But if I hit the centre button from the thumbnail page I just get a full blank screen.
Is anyone else getting this. Is there any known fix for it?

    Hi,
there have already been a couple of threads on this, search for photo on this forum to find them.
In summary, the iPod Classic does not seem able to display photo's whose original resolution was above a certain size, when you press the centre button to view them.
However, if you press play then it takes you into slideshow and it does display the photo! Skip to the prev/next by pressing left and right wheel click. You may want to go to our slideshow settings to stop it changing photos automaticaly, or even change the transition.
Lots of people have this problem and Apple must be totally aware of it. Amazed that they haven't fixed it yet!
Not sure if it is an iTunes or Classic problem but I'm pretty sure that the same photos worked on my sons 5.5Gen iPod. I'll test that out when he comes home.

  • What exactly is new in Leopard if I don't have an Intel based Mac?

I recently helped my father upgrade his iMac to Leopard. Everything went extreemly smooth and the new OS is up and running. While the machine is only a couple of years old, it is not running an Intel CPU. As I flip through the installation book and see all the cool new features of Leopard, many of them depend on an Intel CPU under the hood.
So besides a new wallpaper and Time Machine (which doesn't apply in my specific scenario), I'm having a hard time seeing a benefit to Leopard without an Intel CPU. Furthermore, my fater has decided not to upgrade to iLife 08, so he's still running iLife 06.
So what I was hoping for with this post, is for someone to help point out what cool new things exist in Leopard for those of us not running Intel CPU's.
    Can anyone shed some light?
PS - "bug fixes," while important, don't count.

    I'll try a few : G4 iBook here.
Time Machine you have already discounted.
Spaces if you like using virtual desktops,
Coverflow in Finder add QuickLook via the space bar and it's a winner.
Space bar toggles Quick Look on and off.
Command-Y works as well, and option-command-Y to jump to slideshow several selected files.
    Stacks, 50/50
Right click on any window title-bar to get a path-popup. Can be used for navigation and also works in Safari.
Spotlight works even better and so does Finder with a better built in search.
TextEdit has had an under the hood upgrade.
Mail has Notes and Stationery templates.
Far more right click / ctrl click context menus which save time.
Improved speed running Numbers in iWork '08.
Apple puts it's own large 512p. icons on Pictures for CoverFlow ~ best to take off the small 128p. third party picture icons from Graphic Converter, PhotoShop, Toy Viewer etc. which look shocking in CoverFlow.
Loving Leopard, well worth the time & cost.

  • How do you properly create a button in a scrolling frame?

I am having trouble getting buttons in a scrolling frame to work correctly. Here is what I have set-up. I have a multi-state object on the right side of the page. On the left, I have a text box with inline buttons inside of a content frame which is set to Pan Only. The inline buttons are set to Go To State in the multi-state object on click. When I preview the document in the Adobe Content Viewer, the scrolling works, but tapping on the buttons only brings up the navigation bars at the top and bottom. When I go back to my document, I notice that the buttons no longer have my settings to display the multi-state object (on click). Thanks for any help!

In scrollable frames, only URL-based buttons are currently supported. Buttons that jump to a slideshow are not yet supported. If all goes according to plan, the next release of tools will allow buttons in scrollable frames to jump to slideshow states.

  • LOCAL html file (text only) fails in a scrolling frame?

Can anyone help with this?? When I place the html file with the Web Content Overlay directly in a frame and Preview on the Desktop Viewer, the frame scrolls perfectly, but won't import into the folio with the Folio Builder. "Content generation error, the folder is invalid for import." I also tried placing the html file in a frame as above, apply Web Content Overlay, and then Pasting Into a Content frame and then using the Scrolling frame Overlay. Works fine on the Desktop Viewer, but Builder won't import the article, same error as above. I could really use help with this, my client uses a lot of html. ??

  • Quick look audio not working

Hi, I've recently updated to 10.9.2. For some reasom, when I hit spacebar to preview audio (wav, aiff and mp3), I can't hear anything?
Is anyone else experiencing this or know of a solution?
    Thank you.

QuickLook is for taking a quick look at a movie, document, pdf, picture, pages file, numbers file etc. without having to open the application that made it. You can select the item in finder by clicking on it and click the eye icon for QuickLook or you can just select the item and press the space bar. Press the space bar again to put it back as it was.
Command Y also works for QuickView, Option command Y lets you jump to slideshow several selected files.
Are you thinking about Coverflow which is an option in Finder along with Icon View, List View and Column View. You can use QuickView with Coverflow. Hold your curser over the toolbar icon and a tool tip will show up to help.
Play with your Mac and have fun.

I have read some other posts here about Quick Look not working. I have added the "Eye" via the "Customize Toolbar" option. The eye is present but the Quick Look still does not function. I am trying to view the correct types of files. This is a new machine that came with Tiger that I had to upgrade to Leopard. Any help appreciated.

  • Images in Slideshows and Menus 'jumping' up before resolving

Tried to do a search for this, but my word choices probably aren't correct...
Is there a way to stop images from 'jumping' up before they resolve (or am I doing something wrong and making it happen)? I have been noticing that in slideshows (especially if there is a disolve transition) or in menus, images will 'scoop' up before settling into their final position. And that usually the image is not as crisp or clear afterwards.
It's happening with items I create using Photoshop's templates, as well as images I drag into drop zones. It's happening with images that I have scanned, or that others have provided, or with item I have captured off the internet or off DVDs, so there's no common thread.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Slideshow with Filmstrip - Strip jumps too many thumbnails

    Hi,
Thanks for looking at my post and thanks in advance if you can help me.
I recently decided I wanted to try using the Slideshow & Filmstrip Widget on my web site to help display my gallery.
I feel I have been successful in adjusting the scripts to customise it to my web site, however there is one I just can’t seem to solve.
On the filmstrip I have 10 thumbnails. When my page loads it displays 6 of the thumbs. However if you press the right arrow, it jumps to show thumbs 9 & 10 without showing 7 & 8.
Can I change how many thumbs the filmstrip jumps? Or is there an alternate way of fixing this problem?
My site can be found here http://www.exhibitionsinternational.co.uk/2012/grottos/cabin/cabins.htm
    Thanks again,
    Brian

    Thank you.
That was brilliant. Thanks again for your help
