Jumping to diff. thumbnail after RAW adjustments?

When I working bridge (CS3, Mac OS10.5) and open a file in Camera RAW to make adjustments and then close the file, the thumbnail disappears for a bit and then comes back visible in Bridge. That file that was just adjusted isn't the one selected. So I need to go back and select it to see how the change looks on the enlarged image in the Bridge preview pain. This is a major pain. It doesn't happen on my other Mac (OS10.4) with CS3. I make a RAW adjustment and it stays selected and I can see the change. Any idea on what is causing this to deselect the image I'm correcting? Thanks.

jmiller,
You asked:
>Any idea on what is causing this to deselect the image I'm correcting?
Buko is suggesting it may be Leopard
causing it, especially since it doesn't happen on your Tiger machine.
He wasn't asking you if you run Leopard, as you already said that in your original post. :D

  • Bridge does not show my Camera Raw Adjustments in previews or thumbnails.

Bridge CS6 on my Mac is not showing my Camera Raw adjustments in a preview pane or thumbnail.
Here's how it worked until recently:
    I open a .CR2
    I make some adjustments
    I click "Done"
The thumbnail and the preview show the adjustments I made
    Now, it works like this:
    Open a .CR2
    Make adjustments
    Click "Done"
The preview and thumbnail don't show all the adjustments. I can't see the results of noise removal, but I can see a drastic change in Exposure
If I double-click the CR2 file, it opens in Camera Raw, and I see all my adjustments, including noise removal.
Here's what I've tried, but saw  no difference (I restarted Bridge every time):
    Purge Cache
    Purge Cache for Selection
Replaced Camera Raw plug-in as described here: Camera Raw 8.4 | No metadata or Camera Raw edit
(Doing so made Camera Raw disappear in Bridge, so I restored the original file)
    Reset Preferences
    Reset Standard Workspaces
All the above fixes were inspired by this thread: Re: Bridge CS6 not showing Camera Raw adjustments
Why don't I see the noise removal effect in the previews? I am sure I saw it a few weeks ago. I rely on that, to help me sort and cull photos.
    I'm hoping there's a preference toggle that I accidentally changed. It's definitely a puzzle. (Version: Bridge CS6 5.0.1.21 5.0.2.4)
Message was edited by: moonatwork after updating Bridge version. I tried all the above fixes again, after updating Bridge. It actually got worse. I tried replacing the Camera Raw plugin, which failed as before. I then restored the previous plugin, as before, but Bridge now fails to honor the preference, "Double-Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge" and instead always opens Photoshop.

Thanks, Omke. I tried updating, then applying all the same fixes to the updated version. No change.
I can attach a screenshot, but I must block out names and faces. All you'll see is my Bridge interface, not the faces in the portraits. Hope that helps.

  • Some CS4 Raw adjustments lost after save to jpg or tiff

I've been running Photoshop CS4 under Windows XP 64 bit  (with 8Gb RAM) with no problems whatsoever (including use of GPU feature) since November 2008.
Very recently, with a difficult  event photosession I have a bunch of photos that have are overexposed/blown out highlights which were easily fixed with RAW adjustments in Bridge CS4 with the generous use of the RECOVERY slider as well as EXPOSURE.
After converting to JPEG (quality 12) or Tiff (as a test) the initially overexposed photos which were fixed and look fine in both Bridge and in Photshop show up overexposed -as if the RAW adjustments have never been made.  In other words the jpg or tiff version appears with blown highlights right next to the corrected RAW version (Canon CR2 files).   I need to emphasize that when the adjusted RAW is opened in Photoshop it looks fine -with all of the adjustments perfect. But once it is saved in Photoshop, the saved file does not look the same, it now has blown out highlights.
In other words something in the workflow whether Photoshop or RAW is simply not working the way it should and the way it used to work.
I have downloaded and installed the latest  RAW  5.5. It has not helped at all.  I can't pinpoint the time when this problem first showed up because I normally hardly ever have images with blown highlights. This last  event shoot was very poorly lit and it took a bit of time to figure out how to correct the exposure setting on the spot.
Have any of you experienced this problem?  I can't get Adobe Tech support telephone support without paying for the privilege, in spite of the fact that I suspect that this is a program bug.
Any suggestions will be greatly  appreciated and welcome.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Some additional findings:
When I looked at the JPEGs which had blown highlights in Bridge, with ACDsee,  they looked fine! So I also tested with Windows Fax Viewer and they're fine again.  Conclusion -Bridge is showing unedited exposure.
Then in response to posting this same problem on Dpreview I got the solution from Walter Wollert:
    wwollert wrote:
" Do you have tif and jpg edit options enabled in RAW(ACR)? There was something I ran into that caused the problem like you have. I turned these options off and it cleared up. Why? Ur guess is as good as mine.
Again, I could be in error, since it happened a while ago and I sometimes have rolling blackouts.
    Walter
    Hey Walter,
Your suggestion solved my problem. Who would have expected that disabling JPEG editing in RAW would solve this problem?  I have been told to make sure this feature was enabled and in fact I always had this enabled because on occassion I find it very useful to use RAW tools to fix problems in some old JPGs.
I've been terribly annoyed and depressed about this problem and it just about completely stopped my editing for over 2 weeks, so you can be sure I am extremely thankful for your HEADS ON solution.
Someone at Adobe should have their head dunked in toilet bowl perhaps?
I don't ever remember seeing this problem in the past, even though I had the JPEG & TIFF editing enabled, and therefore I thought this "bug" crept in with one of the program updates.
    Thanks a MILLION!!!,
    Dan"
So that's the answer to the problem!

  • How to reduce size of RAW & PSD files after all adjustments are finished?

I thought I read something about an Aperture feature that reduces file size of RAW files to something like a large .jpg file. I have finished adjusting many RAW files and could better use the disc space for other things. Is there any such feature or procedure? I have not upgraded to Aperture 2.0 but will soon.
Also, after making the round-trip to PhotoShop Elements, I see a large PSD file. Can I shrink that file after all adjustments are made?

If you're using referenced files in Aperture, you can archive the raw files onto a CD or some other place and delete the original. Just make sure Aperture is set to generate previews before you do this. That way you can see the file even after it's gone. You can't export or make any adjustments unless you can re-link the raw file.
And as far as PSD files, you should change your preferences to use TIFF for external editors. Then at least you can save the file in Photoshop as a compressed TIFF, which can save quite a bit of room. Also, I've noticed that Aperture uses 16-bit TIFF files, so you can save even more room by converting the file to an 8-bit TIFF.
By the way, take note that while Aperture defaults to ".tiff" as it's file suffix for TIFF files, Photoshop prefers ".tif". This can cause confusion. You've been warned.

  • Bridge CC RAW adjustments

    Hi There,
I am using the latest version of Photoshop / Bridge CC. The software has been working perfectly but for some reason today i am having a big problem with my RAW adjustments to DNG files appearing in the bridge browser after i saved them. For example - I open a file from bridge and open in Camera Raw 8.4.1 make adjustments and select done. When i then view the adjusted images in bridge in any of the views  ESSENTIALS FILMSTRIP etc the files are not updating. I have tried purging the cache / compacting the cache with no change.
I am using a new 27 inch iMac. The only thing i have changed in my system is that i installed a  new workspace in PS but don't think would have any relation to my bridge problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this issue has ruined my workflow.
    Thanks

Yes i am am on Mavericks. Embarrassingly it was just a simple selection mistake on my behalf....just a matter of selecting the chequerboard  icons, top right.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Is it possible to transfer PSE11 camera raw adjustments?

I found a thread where it says it's not possible to open multiple images in PSE-11's Camera Raw.  But I would like to transfer the adjustments I make for one image in camera raw to another image.  Is that possible?
    Thanks,

You can open multiple camera raw files into pse 11's camera raw (7.4), but i gather from your other post in the camera raw forum
your wanting to open multiple jpeg files into pse 11's camera raw.
One way i can think of offhand is to open your first jpeg, then on jpegs that follow use Previous Conversion from the flyout menu in camera raw.
    Hi R_Kelly,
Very observant.  Yes, I was wanting to open multiple jpeg files into PSE 11's camera raw.  But I also wanted to open multiple raw files in PSE 11's camera raw and didn't know how to do that.
My problem in not knowing how to open multiple "raw" files in PSE 11's camera raw was that I only knew how to open "any" file in camera raw by opening PSE 11 and then opening the file using FILE > OPEN AS > SELECT FILE TYPE AS CAMERA RAW and then clicking on an image file (jpeg or raw).
After reading your post, I experimented and discovered that if I select multiple "raw" files in PSE 11's organizer, I can then open all of the selected "raw" files in PSE 11's camera raw by clicking "Photo Editor" in the bottom toolbar.  Then I can indeed apply the same adjustments to multiple raw files at once in camera raw.
But as you pointed out, I can only open one "jpg" image at a time in camera raw but I can apply the adjustments to multiple jpg images (one at a time) by using the fly out menu's "Previous Conversion".
This answered all of my questions in applying PSE 11's camera raw adjustments to muliple images (raw and jpg).
Too bad there's no way to open multiple jpg images in PSE 11's camera raw.  Out of curiosity, would you happen to know whether it's possible to open multiple jpg images in CS6's camera raw?
    Thanks much for your help,
    Skyzoomer

The Finder is not refreshing the icon thumbnail after copying.
I tried copying a couple of foders from the internal HD to a USB drive and the resulting icons kept an empty progress...
    WHY????

    Hello,
It looks like possibly a Permissions problem... the X above the folder.
In Finder do a Get Info on that drive, or the folders on that drive that you're trying to copy to.
Úgy néz ki, mint esetleg egy Engedélyek probléma ... X felett a mappát.
A kereső nem egy Get Info a meghajtón, vagy a mappákat a meghajtón, hogy akarsz másolni.

  • Cs6 bridge not showing thumbnails for raw file

    Just upgraded to CS6
cs6 bridge not showing thumbnails for raw files.
Can see thumbnails in CS5.1 bridge  and LR 4.2 which fortunately i did not uninstall.
Bummer since I am up against a hard deadline.
    Really Sucks

We can't know. You are not offering any system information or e.g. info about what image files you are working with. Since they do show up in your otehr programs, my assumption would be that you need to switch the Camera Raw engine back to the 2009/2010 version in Photoshop and not use the default new 2012 one. Perhaps your thumbnails will appear then....

  • Adobe Lightroom 3 not updating thumbnails after Photoshop Save

Anyone know why Lightroom 3 will not update my thumbnails after I save changes in Photoshop CS5?
I tried to do a "save" (in lightroom) to update the metadata of the file, and the changes still never occurred.
I know that the changes held though because when I RE-open the file in photoshop the changes are there..
And once again, I save through photoshop, and it does not render the changes in Lightroom.
    FRUSTRATING! HELP!
    Thanks
    April

seriously, I move through 20-30 images per day in post-production. I shoot around 6-800 in the studio. I rely on flags to get me through the photos quickly (hence why it exists)
You're telling me that I have to save each of these files first before opening - um, didn't have to do this in Lightroom 2.
Is Adobe EVER going to put out an update on this?
Beta exists for a reason - so that bugs like this don't appear once the disks hit the sales floor. How could they have missed that??
Anyway - this isn't really helpful to me.  The save are slow too.
    Thanks for your help tho.

  • Raw adjustments made in Photoshop CS file browser are not transferring to Lightroom 4.

I have thousands of images all on external hard drives with raw adjustments made in Photoshop CS file browser.  When I import these raw files from the external drive into Lightroom 4 the original raw adjustments are not transferring or at least the preview of those adjustments are not showing up the way they do in file browser.  Why? Please help.

    Hi JGJenson,
Were the images already imported into iPhoto when you edited them in PS?
If they were then in order for the edit to be reflected within iPhoto you have to save with the same name.
So you need to navigate the iPhoto Library in the Finder and drag out the images that you saved back into the library with the different names. Drag them to the desktop, then import them from there.
If you are using PS as an external editor that you set up within iPhoto's preferences then the images must be saved with the same name and be flattened for the edits to be reflected within iPhoto.
If you want to save them with a different name, they must not be saved into the iPhoto Library. They need to be saved to the desktop and then imported into iPhoto.

  • Strange colour spots (red & green) appear after RAW files converted to JPEG, anyone know how to fix it?

Strange colour spots (red&green) appear after RAW files converted to JPEG, anyone know how to fix it? Thanks.

I use "Export" function to convert the picture from RAW format to JPEG format, resolution 240 pixels per inch. Strange red dots appeared in the area supposed to be dark grey, as per the picture below. The red colour does not appeared in the original RAW picture when viewing from Lightroom, only exist in the JPEG it created. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

  • Missing Exposure EXIF Metadata After RAW Conversion

I am running Photoshop CS6 on a 64-bit Windows 7 PC.  Since upgrading from CS5 I have noticed that the Exposure EXIF metadata as viewed in Bridge vanishes after RAW conversion/adjustment of my images.  I've read at least one other posting to the forums describing a similar situation, however, I've not seen an acknowledgement of an issue or bug in Bridge.  Clearing the RAW conversion settings restores the missing EXIF metadata.

  • InDesign handling RAW adjustments?

I'm glad about the new mini-bridge in InDesign CS5, but when I place an image in my document, it ignores the adjustments I've done on the image in CameraRAW. Can InDesign register these settings, or am I forced to save adjusted images as new files, before placing them in InDesign?

I think you already figured that one out.
Camera Raw adjustments, if I understand correctly, are a sort of non-destructive sidecar file. ID does not read them.
