Jumping to timecode in a synced multiclip sequence

Has anyone used multi clip "open as sequence" and then been able to key in V1 timecode to jump to it?
in Avid, as in FCP, and in premiere pro source monitor, you can type in the timecode and it goes right to it.  but with the multi clip, obviously, it takes on the sequence timecode....is there any way to specify which clip's timecode you want to jump to?  It's going to take years moving to the exact timecode with my cursor.
any help appreciated!

The help is your friend. Searching for "start time" took me directly to this page: Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Adding clips to sequences
The last section on that page:
Set sequence start time
By default, each sequence’s time ruler starts at zero and measures time according to the timecode format you specified in the Display Format field of the New Sequence dialog box General tab. However, you can change the starting time of the sequence’s time ruler. For example, you may want to set the start time to match a master tape, which typically begins at 00;58;00;00, to accommodate a two-minute leader before the standard program start time of 01;00;00;00.
In a Timeline panel menu, choose Start Time, and enter a starting timecode, and click OK. (The starting time must be a positive number.)

  • Creating a multiclip sequence, HERE'S A REAL STUMPER for all you Pros...

    Ok,
this one is a real doozy. We've tried everything we can think of.
Workflow: Three HDX-900 cameras, jam-synced to clocktime and shooting a sports event at 30p (59.94fps) DVCProHD. Recording onto FireStore-100s and backing up onto DVCProHD tape. Dumping firestore DVCProHD footage directly into FCS2. Everything looks and sounds great. We labeled each angle field in FCP according to the camera (A, B, C). We carefully labelled the reel numbers according to our project (P1031308A0101).
I selected the 3 bins (each bin holds the footage from each camera) and made a multiclip sequence. It was UNABLE to make a 60 minute multiclip with the footage from the three cameras spread out according to their timecode. It kept trying to make about 30 multiclips, few of them with overlapping timecode. a couple of the clips did sync together into a 3 camera segment, but most of them failed to find each other. We played with the overlap slider and all of the settings in the multiclip window, and at various points FCP tried to offer us 4 or even 5 camera angles of footage, all from our three angles, each with its own embedded and (seemingly) functional TC. It would NOT simply do the obvious-- take the free-run timecode and arrange each clip along a linear timeline within that timeframe and multiclip them together to form a three-angle view of the sports event.
    Why not?????
Now, one issue we have with this workflow is that the FS-100 drives are unfortunately FAT32, meaning every 2.2 minutes (2 gigs) the FS-100 automatically cuts the footage into 2 gig chunks. but in a regular non-multiclip sequence, this split-up doesn't seem to affect the footage, or timecode at all, and the first frame of the new clip is one TC frame after the last frame of the previous clip, the way it is supposed to. I don't know if this is relevant.
Also, I don't know if this is relevant: We have been shooting in 59.94 fps, 30p, and we have been using the 60@30 method of viewing TC in the viewer and the project settings.
I am thinking that if there was a way to take all my 2.2 minute clips and put them together into a giant master clip (without exporting and losing quality) then my simplified work environment would allow for a working multiclip.
There are three of us in the edit room and we have been trying to multiclip this stuff for hours. We need this solved today. Is there anyone who has an idea? I think we've tried everything obvious. Our computer is a new MacPro with 4gb RAM, capturing onto an eSATA hard drive

    Kevan,
    Thanks for the hey hey.
    TonyTony,
I have lots and lots of 2 minute clips. But we finally figured it out. It's a failing of FCP's multiclip feature to recognize segmented files that originated on a FAT32 drive. Basically, you simply can't, as of FCS2, make multiclips from several files that were automatically split into 2gig segments, even if their timecodes were maintained.
So the solution: I took each camera's footage, lots and lots of 2 minute clips, and pasted them together in quicktime pro to make a longer sequence. then i saved a reference file to the long sequence and brought that into FCP. I did the same for the files from the other 2 cameras. Then multiclipped those reference movies.
The newest version of the FireStore firmware has a setting that lets you create a quicktime reference movie from within the firestore that links the segments together. so my workflow for the future involves making these reference movie, bringing only the reference movies into FCP, and multiclipping them. problem solved.
probably 2 people who are reading this understand what i'm talking about; i'm not particularly great at explaining things. but we're back up and running . thanks for reading.

  • Make Multiclip Sequence glitch in final cut pro 7?

Hi, I'm trying to sync two cameras and audio, all with the appropriate timecodes.
Within final cut pro 7, i select all of my video clips and audio I want to sync, right-click and hit "make multiclip sequence," and the appropriate menu even pops up with the matched up files by their respective timecodes, but often when i create the sequence it will be blank, or contain just random clips of audio towards the end. does anyone know why this happens? very frustrating because it works great sometimes, but frequently i get a blank sequence and end up using plural eyes.
    xdcam footage
compressor is xdcam ex 1080p24, files are from an f3 camera that i rewrapped in xdcam transfer before bringing into fcp 7.

Thanks Michael, the problem is definitely the audio (syncing the two video clips by themselves works, it creates a new synced sequence), but I edited the audio in a new sequence and exported it, and when i tried to sync it it didn't work.
the frustrating part is that when i select just the audio and the two video clips (that have audio), the multiclip menu pops up syncing them (so close!) , but when i create a new sequence it's blank! even more frustrating is that this process used to work and no longer does.

  • Time Code as External Sync & Multiclip

Ok, I shot an event with 3 z1u's. We synced the timecode on each camera with the remote. I just started editing and set up a multiclip in FCP- 6.0. The first 20 minutes worked great - all 3 cameras recorded straight through. Then it appears that the cameras were stopped and maybe turned off. Now the timecode can't sync up to make the multiclip to be able to finish editing the tape. This is our first time syncing the cameras this way. It says that it should keep the Free Run clock counting regardless if the cameras are on or recording.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

It is easiest to capture them all together at once. Any other tips?
    <
It's only easiest if the procedures were accurately followed; they were not. Forget "easy."
You can solve all of the problems caused by your camera operators by capturing the clips one at a time. There are a few other options but none as fast nor elegant as just simply sitting down and capturing the footage properly. Use the ANGLE filed and use the Logging Notes fields to help you sort and track the scenes and takes. Those columns can be critical when attempting to find a single clip in what is going to be several huge bins.
Then have a quick talk with your crew about why this failed and how you will never to do it that way again.

  • Playback jumping to beginning after reaching end of sequence

When playing a sequence, when the cursor gets to the end it now jumps to the very beginning of the sequence. It didn't used to do that, so some sort of option must have been turned on. How can I turn that option off?
    Thanks,

Go to the menu View > Loop Playback to toggle on or off.

  • Multiple Audio Tracks for Multiclip Sequence

    Hello,
I apologize if this answer is in the manual. I've been through it numerous times but can't find the solution. I have two long clips that I want to use multi-angle editing with. I have one audio monotrack on the first clip and two diff. and seperate audio tracks on the second clip (Left track is from one mic, Right is from another mic).
I want to set up a multiclip sequence so that there are 3 or 4 audio tracks below the single combined multiclip video track. I then want to edit in real time making cuts to the video and simultaneously cut all three (or 4) audio tracks at the same time. I know how to do this last thing but I don't know how to create the sequence with 3 or 4 audio tracks.
Any help would make my Sunday productive.

  • Exporting multiclip sequence

How do I export a multiclip sequence?
When I select the sequence and go to Export a message tells me I have no media.
    But of course I do.
    Where is it?
Just want to export an uncompressed 1 minute sequence.
Can't find pertinent instructions in the manual.
    Thanks
    LD

    LynnDiana,
Are you trying to export a Multiclip, or a multiclip sequence? A multiclip sequence should export just like a standard sequence.
Perhaps if you could provide a bit more detail on exactly what it is you are trying to do here. What format are your source clips? Have you created a multiclip sequence? How many clips are in this multiclip? How are you attempting to export? Plus any other details regarding your workflow. Without details, we can only guess.

  • About make multiclip sequence

    Hello:
I can´t understand the utility of that.Could anyone tell me which is the function of make a multiclip sequence.
    Thanks a lot.

Lets say you were hired to video a U2 concert in Central Park NYC. They will only play 3 songs. There is no chance for a second take. You bring 16 cameras. They all are recording from the first note to the last reverberation.
Now, you have to cut those 16 takes into one video. How do you decide which camera to use at any instant? Why, Multiclip editing of course!
You throw all 16 clips up in the Viewer in a 4x4 matrix and, while watching all 16 streams which are playing back in perfect syncronization, simply pick the best camera for that instant. When done with the edit, collapse the timeline and finish.
That's what Multiclip editing can do for you.

  • Edit to Tape timecode out-of-sync

I've looked around the forum but haven't found anything on this that could solve my problem. My setup is a new Dual Core Power MacG5, Sony DSR-25, and output via Fire-Wire.
Whenever I output my video to tape, a drop-frame stop is inevitable (don't know why but it happens). But when I match the sequence timecode up with the video timecode in order to resume recording (even going as far as matching what the current frame looks like onscreen), it doesn't match up correctly...it's always off. There doesn't even seem to be a consistent number of frames or seconds that it is off by.
I need to get these sync'd spot-on. So if anyone could help me with this, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Wav file gets out of sync with sequence

    Hello,
I have a 30min sequence that I sent the dialogue to an audio engineer for clean up as an OMF. He sent it back and it gets out of sync about the first 2 minutes or so. By the 30th minute the audio is out of sync about 47 frames.
I've tried multiple things, couple of observations: the WAV file's waveforms in the timeline show that all audio is in sync, yet when I playback in the timeline audio its out of sync. I even opened up the wav file on Quicktime player and timecodes from quicktime player and my video timeline do match, its only when i place the wav file in the timeline that it appears out of sync.
I've sent the whole sequence to Soundtrack Pro as a multitrack project. When I playback there it is in sync with the video!!! I export back and still same issue...
Editing on a Macbook Pro OS X 10.8.4 2.6GHZ Intel Core i7 on FCP 6.0.6.
The sequence settings: Apple ProRes HQ 25fps. Audio settings: 48 KHz, 16-bit, channel grouped.
Wave file (sent by audio engineer): 16bit 48.000KHz. Data Rate: 1528.21 kbits/s
    Any help would be amazing!
    Thanks,

    One possibility
You need to have your easy setup have a frame rate that exactly matches your sequence settings BEFORE you import the audio file.  Doesn't seem to always cause a problem, but it can happen.

  • Re-syncing Multiclip after editing?

    Hi all,
I have just delivered a dvd to a customer of two angle video of a dance performance. While the first tapes of the performance appeared to be in sync throughout editing, the client, who choreographed all of the dances, noticed that the wide angle for the entire first half of the show (the first synced tapes) displays about four frames late.
I have re-synced a multiclip accordingly. Now I just need to find a way to transfer my old edits to the new multiclip.
Mind you that the audio and one of the angles' timecode has not changed. I have only moved the in point for the out-of-sync camera.
Is there some way to do this without re-editing the first half of the show? I am running Final Cut Pro 5.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

So I'm doing this (clicking find, typing in the source file name (Untitled5-1), clicking the find button) and nothing is selected (same when I click "find all").
I know that's the name of the file, I've found it in finder, opened it in quicktime to edit it separately, etc., so it's definitely the right file, the right name, etc.
Any idea why it won't select? I'd love to try this solution, but step 1 doesn't seem to be working out.
I'll be tracing my edits in the meantime. Thanks again for the help.

  • Adobe Media Encoder timecode doesn't match Premiere sequence

Hi, I'm having an issue when exporting through Adobe Media Encoder.  My source sequence is 23.976 fps; I've set the Display Format in AME to 24 fps (options are 24, 25 and 30) and the export setting to 23.976 but the time codes don't match; AME seems to be adding frames.  Over the course of a 90 minute export AME is adding about 6 seconds; the Premiere sequence is 01:33:52:13 while the AME export settings show 01:33:58:04.
I'm exporting this in chunks so I'm concerned that when I string them all together with the audio there will be a sync problem.
    Version:  AME CS6 6.0.2.81 64bit
Using with Premiere CS6; have entire suite installed
    Most recent update installed
    Mac OS X 10.7.3
    Creative Cloud:  No.
Working with a mix of RED 5k, 4.5k and 4k footage; all shot 23.976
    No error messages
Is the problem only occurring with a specific output format or encoding preset? If so, which one? - same on all outputs; exporting to prores 422 1920x1080 23.976
    Running Premiere at same time
Mac Pro, 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-core intel xeon, 64 gb ram, solid state boot drive, red rocket, black magic, decklink hd extreme 3d+
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration in Premiere Pro? - yes by default? no cuda / opencl
An unrelated problem I've also been having is when I try to export the full sequence, or even half, the export will freeze around 40%.  No error message, just stops.

How are you checking the exports?

  • Multiclip Sequence & Render Manager

    I have a 15-minute NTSC/48 Khz

6 second logo which is in the Animation codec
When I try to turn the clip into a Multiclip seq
I have to copy and paste the entire 15 min. sequence
within and when I try and re-render everything my
Render Manager runs out of space & even when I delete
everything in Render Man., it still tells me it doesn't have space
Is their easier workaround to this? As in only re-rendering
parts of sequence instead of full 15 minutes?
    thanks

I don't think it works better on this issue, however it supplies more real time playback of mixed formats.
Since you're working in DV, try raising or lowering the clip a bit, might help. Works wonders with titles over DV. Just a single line up or down might make a difference. You'd see it externally on a video monitor.

  • Issues creating multicam edit from pre-synced DSLR sequence

    Hi All,
I'm new to Premiere Pro CC, having just moved from FCPX. I've been doing a fair bit of research on multicam editing in PP the last few days but have yet to be able to get it going on my project.
As you can see from the screen grab, I have a sequence of DSLR clips that I have synced onto my timeline. The issue is that no matter what method I use I can't seem to create a multicam edit that works. I always end up with only one camera in the multicam window and the audio isn't remotely synced up with it.
    What am I doing wrong?

The sequence you have open. Take that sequence in your project bin, right click, pop-up menu, choose 'create a new sequence'. Open your new 'flat' one video track sequence in your timeline, click project monitor panel 'wrench', pop-up menu, choose ' Multi-camera'

    Hello everyone,
I could use some help on this.Using 10.3 mobile server and a mobile6 client (using the official mobile6 patch). After some syncs, a mobile client gets the error "sequence does not exist", and the replication fails.
When looking at the server log, after the client has successfully uploaded its data, a sequence "M$8232031$M" is created on the server just before the client can download its new data. Then, the server tries to get the nextval from that sequence - and the sequence is not there !!

Check your err.log after you create the users to see if there is any issues.
I have had various issues with users Data Subsetting not being set. I find this happens when there are many blocking locks and users are being drop, created, password change, etc. Blocking locks are part of the nature of the application, the only way to really combat that is to do some performance tuning on the MGP and the SYNC.
