Jumpy Audio

Hi,
Sorry if this has been brought up before, I couldn't find it anywhere.
I'm working on a video in FCE 4 and the problem I have is the audio is very jumpy in some parts of the footage. I checked the footage on the tape and everything is fine, and I also checked the audio while the footage was capturing and that was fine too. However, it was once the footage was in FCE that the audio playback went wrong. I have rendered everything incase that was the problem, but it didn't fix it.
If anyone has a solution to this I would really appreciate it, my grade depends on this! =/

The clips are scenes that were filmed at uni in the studio, we had to take >them away and edit
Do you which camera shot the footage?
How did you take the clips away?
Are they aif. files?
Maybe someone purposely sabotaged them to test you????
Try a re-import to FCE. If that doesn't work I'd use an app like the free Streamclip to conform the files to your exact FCE Easy Setup/Sequence settings. settings.

My guess is the sample rate is a fraction out.

  • Jumpy audio from microphone in Audacity and Jitsi

If I record from the microphone in Audacity without simultaneous playback of other tracks, the recording is fine. If I try to record while playing back a track, the recording is jumpy and clipped. The same thing happens when I try to use voice chat in Jitsi. The chat partner hears unintelligible, jumpy audio. By jumpy I mean that it sounds like the distance to the microphone is being quickly and randomly changed while the microphone is also being randomly turned on and off with high frequency.
This occurs on two separate systems, both of which are using default ALSA without Jack or PulseAudio. I have not created an asoundrc file. CPU usage is very low in some cases (e.g. 2-5% on a single core). I also have ample RAM if that matters.
I have searched for a solution but I suspect that I am not using the right terms. I cannot believe that my modern Arch systems would be unable to handle something that I could do on a budget system 10 years ago.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    *bump*
Jitsi 2 is out and I would really like to be able to use it. Surely I am not the only one to run into issue with simultaneous audio input and output.
Do I really need something like Pulseaudio  or Jack? (I haven't tried yet because I just can't believe that this is impossible with Alsa... it should "just work").

  • Jumpy Audio with itunes, hulu, youtube

Recently, my audio on my 2008 MBP has been super jumpy when using itunes, hulu and youtube (plugged into an ethernet). When the audio get's jumpy, my mouse gets jumpy/erratic and slow. Any suggestions?

I believe you're going to need multiple computers hosting iTunes to these Airport Express units. Each iTunes can only play one feed, to as many (or as few speakers as you'd like).
So your iMac can stream to the bedroom while watching Youtube videos locally (with local speakers disabled), and another computer (Mac or PC, desktop or laptop) can be providing internet radio to the kitchen.
I'll follow this thread to see if there actually is a device (or software) that allows for multiple source playback from the same computer.

  • Jumpy audio on Satellite P100-347

    Hello,
I have just purchased this laptop and I'm quite disappointed that I can't get the audio to work properly. I have been using various different media players (windows media player, foobar, winamp) and every now and again the sound will skip a little bit. I have noticed this when just using the built in speakers and when using the optical output hooked up to an amplifier. Does anyone have any idea why?
I am also quite annoyed that I can't get surround sound working within games such as CounterStrike Source. I have tried several times (i have 5.1 surround selected in the windows sounds panel) but i can't get it to work. I'm guessing it is because you need to be able to select SP/DIF output in the source of the sound and the games I have tried don't have that option.
Is there any way around this?
    Thanks
    David

While working I hear online radio and it annoying me when sound completely stops or jumpy like described in your posting. I have installed Notebook hardware control tool and watched carefully what is with CPU load in the moment when sound suddenly stops.
And guess what, every time CPU load was on 100%. I have investigated a little bit and noticed that process iexplore.exe blocks everything and when ended manually everything works well again. I have never had this problem but I have noticed it since two or three months.
Watch a little bit how your unit runs. Maybe you will also be able to notice some strange behavior.
    Good luck!

  • Controller for video issues

    Hi all,
I don't want the controller to work for the video - so I did
not select the setting " presentation controlled by playbar" (or
something like that - sorry, not connected right now to check the
exact phrase), in the slide properties menu. The question is that
sometimes if the user doesn't want to view the entire embedded
.swf, and they switch to another slide, issues arise with audio
starting over, or not stopping... etc.
If I select the setting to "turn on" the Presentation
Controlled by Playbar, then when playing back the video is a mess -
jumpy, audio issues, unusable in my opinion. The video is
relatively small in size (320y 240 using On2VP6_256 setting in
    Squeeze 4.1 for flash)
It would be great to have the presentation able to be
controlled by the playbar -all slides including the ones with
video. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue, or workaround it,
    would be appreciated!
    Rob

Got exactly the same problem except on a MacbookPro 15" mid-2010. Went to the Apple store and was told it would cost 800$ to fix the problem. Quite frustrating!

  • Export presets - please help!

    Hi everyone,
In Premiere CS3 (MAC) I had a list of presets under Adobe Media Encoder, such as NTSC source to download 1024 and HDTV 1080p 24 etc.
These were perfect for the sort of things I was doing, but in CS4 they aren't there any more. There is no Adobe Media Encoder option under export, just media, and I've tried recreating the settings in there, but I get jumpy audio etc.
Is there a way to import these presets from CS3? If so where are the presets saved?
    Please help!!
    Chris

In fact, ignore me, I realised if you choose H.264 the presets appear underneath..

  • [Solved] mpv having a hard time playing a video

This video used to play fine, but at some point since I last tried it, it stopped working. It's been months, so I can't really pin down an exact time. The behavior is jumpy audio and video, with dropped frames all over the place.
The video in question is episode 11 of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, subtitled by Meguca. md5sum is 7a8899705a247b372072901889997abb.

My system is fully up-to-date. It plays fine on mplayer and on vlc, but has similar problems on xbmc.

  • It's totally out of sync across timeline

I have an audio file to edit and imported to Garageband with a track only. The problem occurs whenever I play it it plays but after sometime jumps to unspecific time and won't noticeable in the timeline. The needle in the timeline runs fine but the audio is not sync. I did check the timeline and replay from a specific time over and over it will play differently, it's so unreliable to edit. However if I played it on iTunes it plays in the right manner - no jumpy audio.
I got this audio recorded from my iPhone to AIFF format using Pro Recorder app.
Is anyone of you have this experience? Oh this is my first time editing audio with Garageband and quite disappointed with the performance

  • PP CC 2014 plays video fine from .mts files, but the audio is glitchy and jumpy.

    Premiere Pro CC 2014
    OSX 10.9.5
I have imported .MTS files from one Canon C100 into PP through the Media Browser. I kept the file structure intact from the camera when copying. When I play a file in the source or program monitor the video plays back perfectly; however, the audio is glitchy and jumpy. It will skip time, jumping forward and backward seemingly randomly. If I open the same clip in Quicktime 10, it plays back 100% normal. I have restarted, reimported, and even transcoded the files to Pro Res 422 using Media Encoder CC 14. Nothing fixed it. The audio glitches the same way in the transcoded Pro Res Files.
This is only the first of three cards of media. In total I have 120 .mts files in three separate AVCHD folders from a three camera C100 shoot. This leads to another issue I know I will run into. There will be three .mts files named "001," three named "002," etc. I have solved this issue in the past simply by transcoding, but that again failed to work for me thus far. So if I must stick with the .mts files, does anyone know a workflow for using multiple .mts files with the same name in one project/timeline?
    Thanks

I find it hard to believe that this fixes the root of the problem as the same files playback fine in CS6. CS6 and CC 2014 should be referencing the same codec library on my system, right? If this is the case, then there is something wrong with how CC14 is decompressing the footage with the codecs that are working fine in CS6.
To further this point. I imported the same files into CS6. CS6 played them back fine, so I saved the session and opened it up in CC14. CC14 converted the project file and all media loaded and plays back normal now.
So if this is a codec issue, it would not have been solved by opening the files first in CS6. It also would not be solved as so many others report by moving the files and relinking to the new folder. It seems to me to be an import issue that is solely in CC14, not CC or CS6.

  • Jumpy Video over imported audio clips on time line.

I have faltering or jumpy video occurring only where I have imported music. this has never happened before. It happens on all music even aiff.
I need help, cant finish last DVD in a sequence of five.

    Hi Lowstone and welcome!
Are any of those audio files imported from iTunes?
That would produce the symptoms you mention if the tracks were copy protected (Get Info in the file menu will tell you).
The workaround is to burn those tracks to a CD, re-import them from that CD into iTunes, save them as AIFF files, and import them into iMovie when they should work fine.

  • My audio sounds jumpy after the latest update.

After installing 12.1.0.71 this morning. I noticed that the audio for my music sounds jumpy or choppy. Is anyone else experiencing this problem and does anyone know a fix?

There is an alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version (the alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer).  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using:" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio.

  • Audio out of sync and Jumpy video

I can't seem to get through a project without some sort of critical adobe issue cropping up. Either theres a problem in the editing, or theres a problem in the exporting. Today, its the exporting.
I just did a large project (6 x 30 minute videos) for a client, and it is a roundtable discussion with slides. Inside premiere, everything plays back fine, but when I exported, the audio got out of sync and you'll see all the slides jump around.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/qz0mudqfj224y5g/jumpy%20export.mp4
Anyone have the foggiest idea of whats happening? Its a 2012 rMPB with 8GB RAM and SSD. Exported down to 720p MP4 for review. Nothing else was running on the machine, I just let it render out last night while I was asleep.
    Please help!!

Last night I exported a queue via AME and sent it to the same USB3 drive that the project was on.
Today, I exported only one, straight from Premiere onto my Internal SSD and have the same exact issue.

  • Jumpy video and audio on export

I have a .DV movie created in an old version of IMovie. The file was exported from iMovie using the highest quality setting available. I am trying to export this movie to a larger screen size .MOV. However when doing so, the video on the new file becomes jumpy and the audio stops and starts. The play buttons behave erratically. When I convert the original .DV to a .MOV leaving all of the size and quality parameters as they are, the export occurs with no problem.
Is what I'm trying to do just not possible? I would really like this file to play back bigger by default.

I can understand that, but I also exported the .DV to a .MOV, and then tried the export. Same problem. I assume the same answer, yes?

  • Jumpy, Glitchy Mouse and No Audio

I left on vacation for a week, leaving behind a smoothly running iMac i7. I put the computer to sleep while I was gone.
Upon returning home, the computer is running horribly. I installed updates, and it seems to be running painfully slow. Even as I type now it struggles to keep up to my typing speed. The mouse is glitchy and jumpy and certainly not smooth. The volume control on my menu bar is greyed out and my keyboard volume controls do not work.
I am running 10.6.3 on a 27" iMac with a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7. I'm not using the mighty mouse, just a basic USB mouse.
    Suggestions?

  • Iphone audio "jumpy"

After a while the audio will fade in and out on like about two second intervals. It starts a few songs in. It started doing this when I signed up for itunes match but it does this even with songs downloaded onto the iphone, not the streaming ones. I've had it happen when I run on the treadmill, but it does not seem to be related to that. I've moved the wiring to the ear buds around to see if there is a short but there seems to be none. It will keep doing it after I stop running but if I wait a while it stops.

I use iRecorder which doesn't have adjustable input but records beautifully for hours continuously if you need to. Both dictation and music never seem to overload. The files can be uploaded wirelessly via your browser where they end up in iTunes. From there, within a couple of minutes you can burn a CD. My wife uses it for recording her concerts. An audiophile could find objections to the output but for some musicians we know, it's just fine.
