Jumpy mouse cursor: bug in Acrobat 10.1.12?

Is there a patch or fix for erratic mouse (jumpy cursor) at the edge of an Acrobat application window? When I move the cursor over any of the four sides or edges of an open window without clicking, the cursor jumps back and forth over the edge/border. This only happens when Acrobat is the active application, i.e. not when I'm using another application but happen to move my mouse over the boundaries of the Acrobat window.
This seems to have appeared suddenly.
OS: Mac 10.6.8.
Things I've tried:
Reboot
Changing to different mouse
Changing the mousing surface
Cleaning the mouse lens
Closing other open applications
Thank you,
Jenn.
P.S. I couldn't find the right sub-forum to post this question - please redirect this question if needed.

Are you sure didn't have the Shift key down at the same time as you pressed Cmd and the + (plus) key?
Cmd-Shift-plus and Cmd-Shift-minus are the shortcuts for rotate clockwise and counterclockwise.
For me, with Acrobat X 10.1.1 on Lion Mac OS X 10.7.2, Cmd-plus and Cmd-minus are working fine for zooming in and zooming out.

  • [LR 4.1 - Library] Minor but annoying bug with mouse cursor

    Hi,
    There is a minor but irritating bug with the mouse cursor in the Library module. Steps to reproduce:
    1. Activate the Library module.
    2. Move the mouse cursor into the image area. The mouse cursor looks like a magnifying glass.
    3. Move the mouse cursor to the left, until it reaches the right border of the left panel. The cursor becomes a double arrow indicating that you can modify the left panel width.
    4. Do not click and continue moving the cursor to the left : most of the time (but not always) the mouse cursor is not reset to a standard cursor when entering the left panel area. It is still displayed as a double arrow.
    5. Sometimes this also occurs when moving the mouse cursor directly from the image area to the left panel.
    This can also happen under other circumstances. However, this doesn't happen with the right panel or when using another module. Also, at some time during the session, the problem disappears... until the next session or until you return from another module.

    I agree, although it sounds trivial, it is very irratating - especially when doing a lot of keywording.
    You could add your vote to a previously raised bug report on this ...

  • New screen standby bug (black screen with mouse cursor)

    It seems there is a new issue with adobe messing up the monitor standby process.
    This time the monitor turns of at the setup time, but after a few minutes turns on again showing a black screen with the mouse cursor in the middle.
    Happens with me if i have any kind of webbrowser running in the background, as soon as i quit the browser my screen stays off again. But with open browser windows it often turns on again and shows the black screen with the mouse cursor.
    Anyone else experiencing this problem?

    I haven't been able to reproduce this.  What makes you suspect Flash Player?  Do you see this behavior if you uninstall the player?  What output do you get if you type the following commands in a command prompt window?
    powercfg -lastwake
    powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

    Hi,
    Have you tried the suggestion Cyber_Defend_Team provided?
    If the issue persists, start the computer in Safe mode to check the result:
    If it doesn't reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes. If a recently installed program, device, or driver prevents Windows from running correctly, you can start your computer
    in safe mode and then remove the program that's causing the problem.
    If it still in the safe mode, we may need to repair the installation with the recovery media.
    In addition, please logon the problematic computer with the domain user account which works fine in other computer to test to see if it's the user account issue.

  • Extreme mouse cursor lag when using Accessibility Zoom (Fullscreen) in Yosemite

    I have a Retina MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite (10.10), clean installed, connected to an external Thunderbolt Display. When I zoom in using Accessibility, I experience a very prominent lag, moving my mouse cursor (either with my Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad or the built-in Trackpad) around or when zooming out. It is especially visible when zoomed in on applications like Calendar and Mail. This never happened in Mavericks. My settings are as follows.
    I've tried creating a new user account on my Mac and the problem still persists, which leads me to believe it's a bug with Yosemite.
    Anyone else have the same problem?

    I also have the same exact problem. I have a i5 iMac Mid 2011 with an upgrade to 10.10 Yosemite connected to an external display. I like you never had this issue with Mavericks. Zoom is so painfully slow now that I had to disable it. My iMac has 12 GB of RAM and even with no apps opened, zoom is killer slow.. makes me want to punch a wall-kinda slow.
    I think it's clear to say that something is up with 10.10.. some bug.
    Apple please fix us zoomers

  • No mouse cursor during Windows 8.1 OSD

    Hi,
    I have a problem that is bugging me. Not really a biggie but a frustrating one.
    When deploying Windows 8.1 using a MDT 2013 TS from CM12R2 the mouse cursor gets disabled when the OS reboots into minisetup/windows.
    As long as the TS is in WinPE all is fine, but once rebooted the cursor goes away and comes back only when the TS completes.
    The mouse is enabled as I can fool around with it and find where it is by clicking like a madman until a window gets highlighted.
    Deploying different DELL workstations/laptops, all with the same symptom.
    BR /T

    To my knowledge this is simply because of the Z-ordering of the windows during Windows setup.
    The question though is why does it matter? You shouldn't be doing anything interactive a this point in the TS.

    There are no APIs directly for that.  Maybe try rotating the cursor.  It should be systemManager.cursorChildren.getChildAt(0) or maybe 1 or 2.

  • Color depth of the mouse cursor

    Upgraded to srss 4.2 yesterday and discovered the addition of Xrender support. After enabling it the mouse cursor switches to an animated one. This looks really horrendous, since the mousecursor is displayed in black and white (1bit color depth). Does anyone know how to increase the color depth of the mouse cursor? The screen is configured with a color depth of 24 bits

    Gnome 2.16.0 on RedHat 5.3 with Metacity as windowmanager. The mouse displays just fine, but is was real bw non animated before Xrender. Now it is animated and the animation is converted to 2 bit, including dithering for shadows. Regard this as an esthetical bug. A resolution would be to search for a 2 bit mouse theme (or create one)

  • Mac Pro + Airport Extreme = Mouse Cursor Chaos Display Issues When Dragging

    Graphic display issues (mouse lag and latency displayed on the screen when dragging an object (photo, window, application, document, etc.) from the top 50% of the screen to the bottom 50% of the screen. Mouse cursor starts to display serious lag and latency and loses ability to stay on the object being dragged anywhere below the 50% horizon line of any display.
    Mac Pro (any model 2007 to current 2009 production) with Airport Extreme installed.
    Symptoms:
    On any object the mouse cursor selects and then drags from anywhere in the upper portion (50%) of the screen display (no matter the display being used) to the bottom portion (50%) of the screen display, shows great lagging and latency as if the cursor is "hanging on for dear life" or as if the processor were running several intense applications and cursor was not responding.
    The mouse cursor fails to stay in concert with the object being dragged anywhere in the lower portion of the screen although is fine in the upper portion of the screen.
    Issue only presents itself when selecting and dragging an object from bottom to top or top to bottom of the display.
    I have deduced that the issue with this "polarity" (i.e. the 50% horizon level of the screen north and south) is due to some magnetic or waveform interference from the Airport Extreme card and most likely due to its position on the motherboard and/or next the the Intel processor. Also could be enhanced by the Bluetooth card which is also located next to this card.
    After checking various Mac Pros (at Apple stores, friends and received via Apple Online store) the common denominator is the Airport Extreme Card. When it is NOT present, no issues are present with display cursor lag; when it IS present, all the above apply.
    No one at Apple seems to realize this issue or cares about it. Ditto for Genius Bar Apple Employees; seems to be a mystery on par with the Bermuda Triangle (which ironically is also magnetically-polarity related.)
    Still waiting for a Apple Product Engineer to contact me and have 3 tickets open with Apple from 3 different Mac Pros on this. Problem first noticed May 2009 although first generation Mac Pro from 2007 also suffered same issues and just now putting the puzzle together on this relationship.
    Any others out there notice this as well? Check it out if you have a Mac Pro and Airport Extreme Card installed inside of it.

    I also have the same exact problem. I have a i5 iMac Mid 2011 with an upgrade to 10.10 Yosemite connected to an external display. I like you never had this issue with Mavericks. • Adobe Reader 11.0.07 - mouse cursor full screen mode

    Hello,
    After the security update to Adobe Reader 11.0.07 I noticed a bug in full screen mode - the mouse cursor is not hidden after delay even if this option is chosen in Preferences. How can be resolved this problem?

    Hi ivanml,

  • Mouse cursor snaps to point on screen

    I posted this two days ago in the Mac Pro forum, but after searching for a solution since then, I've come to two conclusions: 1) the problem is not a hardware one and 2) using OS X without a mouse is horrendous. Forgive me for copying and editing my own original postings. First, here is a digest:
    - the cursor snaps back to its starting point on the screen after ca. 1/2 sec of movement, I can hardly move the cursor to halfway the screen before it snaps back
    - not a hardware problem, appears with Kensington Expert Trackball, Magic Trackpad, Apple Magic Mouse and keyboard used as mouse
    - not connected with a single user account, appears in the login screen, main user account and system operator account
    - the snap-to position differs in the login screen and user accounts
    - turning of the computer, unplugging does not work
    - resetting PRAM does not work
    - unplugging + replugging trackball USB-cable does not work
    - the problem appeared suddenly in mid of normal use.I had not changed in settings before the problem
    Any ideas? Is it possible to contact someone at Apple directly?
    Below my original messages:
    I started having a strange problem with the mouse cursor. I started the computer, the mouse worked fine as always. Suddenly the cursor started fixating on a point on the lower right portion of the screen. I would move the cursor, it would move maybe halfway across the screen for a split second and then snap right back to the starting position.
    I tried shutting down the computer and restarting. Didn't help. The cursor behaves the same way in the login screen too. The only difference is that now the "homing position" is somewhere in the upper right part of the screen.
    I have a Kensington Expert trackball and a Magic Trackpad. I've removed the trackpad, in case it had started interfering with the trackball (never done that before though). Didn't help. I've unplugged and replugged the trackball USB-cable, no help.
    I had the Mac Pro unplugged for over a day as I was travelling and the Kensington Expert Mouse too. Behaved exactly the same when I switched on the computer again. I tried resetting the PRAM. Didn't help.
    I don't know where the problem lies. The mouse cursor keeps snapping to a position in both the login screen and my user screen. The snap-back position is different in the different screens. The cursor returns to its position when both the Magic Trackpad and the Expert Mouse are connected or when only one of them is. I can move the cursor half a screen, then it snaps back. Clicking functions, but I never have any time to click anything when the cursor bounces back to its spot.
    My final remedy would be reinstalling Snow Leopard, but before I try that I would like tro try something less radical. I would also delete the mouse .plist file, but I don't know where it is. I guess that probably would not help, as the cursor behaves crazy even in the login screen, so the user setting should not be the problem.
    I've come to the conclusion, that the problem is not a hardware one. The mouse cursor snaps to point on the screen when I use: 1) a Kensington Expert Mouse, 2) a Magic Trackpad, 3) the Magic Mouse that arrived with my computer and when I turned on 4) use keyboard as mouse. The problem also is not tied to a certain user because it appears 1) in the login screen, 2) my user account and 3) the sysop account. I can't figure out where to look for the problem or fix it.

    I give up.
    I've tried everything I can think of, to fix the behavior of the mouse cursor. I've zapped the pram, I've fixed file permissions, I've removed all startup items, I've tried starting the computer in Safe Mode. No can do.
    The mouse cursor snaps back to a position on the screen when I try to move it. This happens within a second, so I might be able to move the cursor half-way across the screen, but that's it. It doesn't matter how fast I move the mouse. The cursor is dysfunctional in the normal user account, the administrator account and in the login screen. It works perfectly fine in Safe Mode.
    The mouse cursor misbehaves when using a USB track-ball, the Magic Trackpad or the keyboard with accessibility settings.
    After advise received at this site, I tried booting up in Safe Mode and after that the cursor worked for a month or so, but the problem returned. I see no rhyme or reason why the problem appeared for the first place, or why it reappeared. I had originally had two pointing devices the track-ball and the Trackpad connected to my Mac Pro at the same time. After the problem first appeared, I removed the Trackpad. I returned it to use a day before the problem reappeared, but I don't know if that is the cause of the problem. The computer had worked perfectly fine for some months with two pointing devices before the problem appeared.
    I've noticed that some other people have had the same problem. One had a feline related fix, which doesn't help me since I don't have a cat. Another fixed the problem by switching off the Internet, but that didn't help me.
    What I now would like is to make an official bug-report, so that the problem could be fixed someday. I hope Apple is listening. I also plan to reinstall Snow Leopard (I have 10.6.7) next weekend. I had hoped to install a new OS only when Lion got out, but I don't seem to have much choice not. I can either simply reinstall or make a clean reinstall by erasing the disk in the process. I'd like to avoid reinstalling my programs, but I feel it is safer to wipe everything and start from scratch. Even then, I have no assurance this doesn't happen again.

  • Mouse cursor disappears

    sup guys
    whenever i connect my PB took an external monitor and bluetooth mouse, then I remove everything to use the PB portably(?, haha, when i'm on the move) the mouse cursor disappears. trackpad works fine, it brings up the dock, magnifies, the whole nine, just the black arrow is gone. last time i think it took like 30 mins to come back. normally i just restart, and its brand new again, anyone have any idea why?
    PB G4 12/1.33GHZ   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   768 MB RAM

    I think it's a bug with OS X 10.3.9.
    I used to suffer from something similar (cursor would become invisible when waking from sleep with external keyboard and monitor), until I upgraded to 10.4. I haven't had any trouble since.

  • Mouse cursor doesnt change to splitter over JTable column header.

    Hi, this problem seems to be fixed in 1.6 but does anybody know a work around in 1.5 on Windows XP?
    I'm afraid that I haven't been able to locate the relevant bug fix (if any) despite my best efforts with Google and searching these forums.
    The problem is that in 1.5 if the parent frame window is invisible then the mouse cursor doesn't change to the column splitter\resize icon when you hover the mouse between two columns on a column headers.
    If you run the following code under 1.5.0.7, you don't get the cursor change, if you change f.setVisible(false) to f.setVisible(true) then it works.
    public class ColumnResizeTest
        public static void main(String[] args)
            JFrame f = new JFrame("This is a test");
            f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            f.setSize(400, 200);
            f.setVisible(false); // change to true to get resize mouse cursor
            test(f);
        public static void test(Frame f)
            JPanel contentPanel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout());
            JDialog d = new JDialog(f);
            d.setSize(200, 400);
            contentPanel.add(new JScrollPane(new JTable(new DefaultTableModel(5, 5))), BorderLayout.CENTER);
            d.setContentPane(contentPanel);
            d.setVisible(true);
    }In my application at the point the JTable is displayed, the application frame is always invisible as the JTable is shown from the splash\login screen.
    Thanks in advance.
    Philip Wilkinson.

    Adding a mouse listener to either a cell renderer or cell editor in a table the cell cursor will not work because it is the table which responds to mouse motion events - not the individual cell (at least in the case of MouseEntered and MouseExited).
    My solution to this was to add a MouseMotionListener listener to the table and and on the mouseMoved event I called a method which determined whether or not the cursor to display should be a hand cursor or the default cursor.
    For example:
    * Adds a mouse motion listener to the table.
    public void addTableMouseMotionListener()
        table.addMouseMotionListener(new MouseMotionAdapter() {
            public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent me) {
                displayColumnCursor(me);
    * Method to change cursor based on some arbitrary rule.
    protected void displayColumnCursor( MouseEvent me ) {
        Point p = me.getPoint();
        int column = columnAtPoint(p);
        int row = rowAtPoint(p);
        String columnName = getColumnName(column);
        if (columnName.equals("SOME_COLUMN")) {
            setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.HAND_CURSOR));
        } else {
            setCursor(Cursor.getDefaultCursor());
    }Hope this helps solve your problem.
    cheers

  • DnD Mouse Cursor

    I have a problem that after finishing a Drag and Drop operation, the mouse cursor does not always change back to normal. Sometimes it does, sometimes it takes a click or a move, but other times it just never changes back. I'm using my own DropTarget, with the following code...
    public class MyDropTarget extends DropTarget {
         public void drop(DropTargetDropEvent dtde) {
              dtde.acceptDrop(DnDConstants.ACTION_COPY);
              dtde.getDropTargetContext().dropComplete(true);
    }Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug or something?

    one thing I would check is that the drop method is always completing execution normally (i.e. it is not throwing any exceptions).
    are you sure that the two lines of code you've provided are actually getting reached?
