Jumpy playback with full res HD

I am trying to edit full res HD(1920x1080, 4:2:2). When i am playing the clip in the viewer or the timeline it is real jumpy. Is this a hard drive performance issue? or is it something other then that.

How much faster do you thng 2 750gigs in a raid 0 setup be?
Depends on the Raid controller and the type of drives you have. I have a CalDigit S2VR Duo and can get 148MB/s Raid 0 empty, and 102MB/s 90% full. That is eSATA, and that is not recommended for uncompressed HD. DVCPRO HD, HDV, uncompressed SD, yes. You can purchase eSATA enclosures from OWC or Sonnet and get about that....85-105MB/s. But that doesn't give you a lot of wiggle room. Uncompressed HD requires a 4 drive SATA Raid or better for smooth playback.

  • Premiere CC Choppy Playback in Full Res

    Hey All,
I just made the switch to premiere from FCP, like many others, and can't seem to watch my edits back full res without them being very choppy.  This is important because of the review process I go through with many clients.  I have done some research on my own and haven't really been able to nail down the exact problem.  I may just be experiencing a computer power issue.
Here is what I am working with.
I am also working with ProRes 422 mostly and have setup the render settings accordingly.  Here are what they look like.
Is this just a question of processing power?
    Thanks

For external you need USB3 or eSata... USB2 is not fast enough
External eSata or USB3 are both fast enough for video editing... http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1117813 - http://ppbm7.com/index.php/tweakers-page/84-disk-setup

  • Jumpy playback with subtitles ?!

    Hi There,
I'm experiencing jittery / jumpy playback of my track with subtitles. My project has a coupe of tracks but only one has subtitles. I burned a test disk and found that on my Powerbook and DVD&TV set, they all play fine, but on a PC the subtitled track plays jittery (the others are fine).
In DVDSP simulation mode I get the same result. It's almost as if the track hesitates then jumps just before a new subtitle... especially if there is a lot of movement in the image. Playing the track from the DVDSP timeline does the same thing, but not as bad.
    Any suggestions or solutions? Please?
    Peter

    hi peter
the problem of jittering happens most of times when we dont give
any stroke or outline to the texts.
so try these values for your subtitles
    text colour white- opacity 15
    outline 1-black-opacity 15
    outline 2-black-opacity 15
try also with bold fonts and with bigger size .

  • Having jumpy playback with 60p footage exported to 30p. Pans are worst.

We recently shot a commercial on the Sony FS700 in the native AVCHD codec at 60p. We originally intended to slow the footage down to 30 but the client decided the natural speed worked better. So we simply cut the spot in a 30p sequence and exported. The playback is VERY jittery/jumpy with any vertical lines in the picture, which is very pronounced in any pans. We then cut it in a 60p timeline and exported 60p then converted to 30p, same issue. I did have frame blend on every export.
Exporting 60i does help tremendously, some stations won't accept the 60i file however which sticks us with 30p files which have the issue. The XDCAM 1080 60i file is perfect, however ProRes 30p is not.
    Any ideas on this?

Believe it or not, the Import method can sometimes affect playback. Be sure to copy the entire AVCHD folder structure over from SD card to hard drive, unmodified, then in Premiere use the "Media Browser" to import your clips for best results. A definite plus for any spanned clips for sure, also helps with some audio issues.
Also, my understanding of the Interpret Footage option was that if you put 60p footage into a 30p sequence, and also used "Interpret As 29.97" then the footage ought to be playing back at 50% slow motion speed. Something seems off here.
EDIT: Or maybe that's what you meant, the slowmo is perfect?

  • 1/4 screen playback with full screen video?

I apologize if this has been addressed before, a search of the first 50 pages as well as the Search Forum didn't turn up anything on this.
When attempting to play back full screen video (720x480 or 640x480) the upper left quarter of the window displays that portion of the video, but the other three quadrants are black. I have this on several different XP computers.
How do I get all four quadrants to display the video in XP, like it works on the Mac?

    Hello, Harmeet Singh.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are the best troubleshooting resources to reference when experiencing this issue.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.

  • Jumpy playback in iMovie since i started importing HD videos from my 4s iphone

I am getting poor jumpy playback with my 4s iphone vides in iMovie. Is this because I have too many projests going or too many clips? I have a macbook pro with 4 gigs ram and 95 gigs left on my HD.

What might be happening is you might need to Optimize the Video to Full Size. Use the File Menu > Optimize > Full Size for each of the video clips in your iPhoto Videos folder inside of the iMovie Events Library. That should trigger iMovie to recognize the original size/resolution of the video clips and then enable the HD size output in the iMovie Share Menu.

  • Email full-res photo from E90

I apologize if this is such a simple question that I should have found the answer somewhere else, but I Googled and looked through the E90 user guide and can't find out...
I'm considering buying an E90 but one thing I need to be able to do is send emails from it with full-res photos taken with the phone (and video too if I could). Is that possible? Surely it should be possible, but as I said I can't find out whether it is or not. The connection I would usually use would be wifi but once in a while 3G.

A few things to consider -
Camera settings can be set to produce pictures of various sizes, smallest is best suited to sending via MMS.
Any picture can then be sent by email
Cost of the transmission is determined by whichever route you use, be it 3g, 2g, or wifi

  • After upgrading to Yosemite, I had to upgrade my iPhoto, now the full res versions of my images cannot be found.

After upgrading to Yosemite, I had to upgrade my iPhoto, now the full res versions of my images cannot be found.  I had created a book to print (before upgrade) but, after the upgrade the book can't be created as I get the message that images can't be found. However, if I search for the filename I can find the image. I tried repairing library as per support instructions but it hasn't helped. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

    Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - apply Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • How to view every frame, full res, in Viewer... settings?

Hi, We use a strobe flash to sync multiple cameras on a live shoot (DV, NTSC, SD footage). Since I began using FCP and multi-cam, I can not always find the frame where the strobe pulses. Is there a way to increase the viewer settings to view every frame in full res? I would only need this to find the sync point then adjust back to normal editing settings. Thanks.

In my ongoing HDV to SD investigations, I needed a view that was 1:1, and showed both fields of interlacing, and 100% seemed to be it - I think I just happened upon it, by trial and error.
Glad to be able to share though.
Some nice 100% view screen shots on my HDV page (shameless plug again)
    http://www3.telus.net/bonsai/Step-by-Step.html scroll to the end.
While on that subject, MPEG StreamClip is the only viewer I know of that does the same thing for the playback of interlaced MPEG's, you set the window zoom to match the frame size, and you get 1:1 interlaced viewing, aspect corrected on the horizontal, not the vertical.
FCP, for the longest time, used to aspect correct on the vertical (scale the height, while keeping the width 1:1) but this is not what you want for seeing fields at 1:1. I'm glad to report FCP5 now scales the horizontal to correct aspect ratio (when view as square pixels is ticked) and keeps the vertical, and therefore the fields, at 1:1.
Quicktime, and VLC both do field blending when viewing interlaced mpeg's, so you don't see the real interlaced footage. I actually prefer to see interlacing in computer monitors, especially if it is updated, one field at a time, at 60 updated fields per second - I think MPEG Streamclip does this - it might not though - its hard to fully see, but it looks smoother than the canvas / viewer playback, which is 30 frames per second.

  • Adobe InDesign CS5.5 crashes when working with Hi Res Content

I am working on Final layouts in InDesign, using Full Resolution photo comps created in Photoshop.  Both Indesign and Photoshop have crashed at least 5 times today.  It takes about 5 minutes for a link to update in Indesign , after editing in Photoshop . . and that is after the 3-4 minutes it takes for the Photoshop files to save.  I am not viewing files in Full Res in InDesign , because it takes takes twice as long to anything when Full Res is turned on.  This is with no other apps open on my machine.

  • Website with Full Screen Background Images

I'm trying to create a website with full screen background images (or  possibly, a video) that will crop to the browser window. It's also  important that the image be center-justified. The Die Antwoord site does  pretty much what I'm trying to accomplish. I'd also like to know how  they can use such high resolution images. If I try to use a high res  image, the file size is enormous. Another site that uses similar  technology only with a video is the TV on the Radio site.
I  am fairly new to Flash so please forgive me if this is a rudimentary question.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Bob,
    Thanks for your reply.
What I'm concerned about is the crispness of my full-page images. Am I right in assuming with a PDF folio, static images won't be as crisp? Is there a way to maintain its sharpness?

Aperture has the ability to work with files in their existing location. They are called "referenced masters." When you import images, you should select the "In their current location" in the "Store Files:" drop down box. Have a read of the documentation for full specifics. Unsure how you can resolve your duplication; might be some work but next time have a read of the manual first
Information for versions is stored in the Aperture database (library file). The masters can be inside the library file itself, or they can be somewhere else.

  • Set sequence to low res, chromakey and then render full res

I have a sequence (original footage is DV50) and I'm working with stills for background.
Everytime I do something, I have to re-render.
I'd like to set the sequence to a setting where I can put down all my assets, set ins and outs (with fades and stuff) and be able to get a good grip. Then I'd like to render at full resolution and make any necessary changes.
I'm experimenting with the "RT" button, but even when all settings to low, I get "Unrendered".
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

4499x3301 is huge for FCP. That's way.
Are you aware of things like 'Option \' (Play every frame).
It plays every frame full res, but only on the speed that it can cope with. Saves you lots of renders (and thus rendertime and diskspace)
Or use QuickView (Option 8) on a part from in to out point. That makes it possible to see only a part of a clip that needs to be rendered.
Or when you need to view timing of moving objects, you can choose to use the wireframes of the images. With the desired clips selected in the timeline and the pointer being within the selection, press 'w', until you see the wireframes only. (Use 'w' once or twice again to toggle to normal view and normal view with wireframes).

  • Working with Lo-Res Clips

I know you can capture footage lo-res so speed things, then recapture at full res later. Question I have is, many times I take a project with me to work on it at home. This requires the use of the beast-Media Manager. This of course require huge amounts of disk space and then you have to worry about the duped clips on your system.
Can I take a project home (:30 spots) in some sort of offline, lo-res form so I don't have to transport 2 GB around? Then when I get back to the office, reconnect to the original hi-res clips?
Note: most of these projects are more graphics, timing and titles than pure editing.
    Thanks.

    Well, since you're soliciting opinions...
As much as possible, I would avoid working with online clips in one setup (work) and offline clips at another (home) because you can't really share project files or XML.
Yes, you could conceivably use Media Manager every time you're done at work or at home to uprez/downrez to produce a suitable project file for transport, but I'd argue that's really pressing your luck when it comes to our beloved Media Mangler.
The only solution I would consider viable is to have duplicate media in both places in the same resolution. If a project is 2GB of primarily titles, graphics and whatnot, I'd burn the media to a DVD-R. Of course, I take it you're not attempting that for some particular reason?

  • ICloud Photo Libary Full Res Download?

I read that the high resolution originals can still be downloaded on request. How is this done on the iphone? How do I download a full res image within the iphone photos app? I currently use the Optimise storage option.

wondering about that too ... not seeing any option allowing this. Only thing I heard is that high res would be downloaded on the fly while editing. Then back to "optimized" after the syncing with iCloud.
