Jumpy playback within premiere cc

My Premiere Pro cc won't play video clips within the program without jumping, this makes it difficult to edit.
I have a relatively new mac (late 2013, 2GHz, i7, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3).
I import my videos by inserting the SDHC card and copying the AVCHD file to my desktop.
I open the clips within Premiere Pro cc by selecting that desktop file from the Media Browser.
Things I've tried:
My desktop only has 3 folders on it.
I've closed out all other programs.
I try to playback my clips at 1/2, and 1/4 the quality
I've tried using a new SD card.
No difference.
The problem must be Premiere Pro CC because I can open the clips just fine on quicktime or iMovie, but not Premiere. Why?

Please check the playback settings on your preferences panel and choose the right video and audio devices.

  • Mercury Playback within Premiere CC and After Effects CC

Hey, I am having trouble enabling GPU acceleration within Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC. I followed online instructions on how to run the GPU sniffer and then alter a .txt file but the file path I am entering into Terminal is showing no results.
    Any suggestions?

For Premiere Pro CC as long as the card has 1GB of VRAM you'll be able to enable GPU Mercury Playback. If under 1GB even modifying the text file will not work.

  • Laptop with Nvidia gt750m. Sufficient for real time playback in Premiere CS6?

I'm on the verge of buying a new laptop with the following specs:
    i7 4700MQ
    16GB RAM @ 1600 mhz
    1TB 7200 rpm drive
    120 GB SSD
    Nvidia GT750m GPU
    15.6 inch IPS display
I'm sure these specs will be more than sufficient for editing and grading Full HD DSLR clips in Premiere CS6. The only bottleneck in this system might be the GPU, which isn't all that great and has only GDDR3 memory.
Now I'm not planning to do any gaming on it, so I'm just wondering if this graphics card will be sufficient for realtime playback in Premiere after applying the hardware accelerated effects.
This is done solely by the GPU right? This card should be supported for hardware acceleration, but will it be powerful enough?
Unfortunately, there is no other setup possible in this price range that has a better GPU and still has a IPS screen.
Anyone has any experience with this card and the Mercury playback engine?
    Thanks!

    Looks OK.

  • I have no video playback in Premiere

    Hi There,
I'm without any video playback in Premiere and Speed Grade (Though have never used this program before). I am a creative cloud member and downloaded these programs and had no playback or image in any Adobe program, so update GPU drivers and by searching through the forums learned that I had to disable CUDA/Mercury Pl. After much agony I finally got Premiere to work and edited a piece. Though have come back about 2 weeks later and cant get any playback again??? Though turning the Mercury Playback engine to software only etc. doesn't seem to be working.
I'm quite enjoying paying my membership fees without being able to use the programs and cant get any response from trying to chat with Adobe help.
    System Specs:
    Windows 8 (64 Bit)
    Nvidia Geoforce GTX 660M
    16GB of RAM
    Two SSD HD's
    I7-3740QM Processor
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

  • No video playback in premiere CS6 trial

    Hi,
I am trying to use the Adobe Premiere CS6 trial on my laptop but I can't get the video playback to display at all. There is audio playback, just no video. I can get a paused frame to show if I double-click on the playback area but pressing play does not make the video play, only the audio. Stopping the playback displays the latest current frame again.
My laptop's specs are as follows:
    Toshiba notebook
    Intel i7 2.40GHz
    8gb RAM
    500+ gb free space
    Windows 8 64
    Latest Intel display drivers installed
The video files I am importing in my sequence are .mov files, 1920x1088 @ 23 FPS.
    Any help will be appreciated!

  • Raytraced 3D does not render from within premiere pro

    Mac OSX 10.10.1 + Premiere Pro 2014.2
Using Dynamic link to a 3D Camera track a HD sequence, I attach some text and switch on Ray Traced 3D to get a bevel effect. All works well in the software.
But when I render out from within Premiere and from within Media encoder, the text comes out with no bevel as if the Ray Traced 3D is turned off.
    Anyone else getting this?
    Any workarounds?

I see, odd that it shows up as 3D inside Premiere Pro when you are playing back the timeline!
Is there a list somewhere of what doesn't work with Dynamic Link inside Premiere Pro ?

  • H.264 inconsistent quality- Fine within Premiere but bad outside of it.

On my windows XP system I can import into Premiere CS3 original H.264 clips taken with a Canon digicam and they look great in the timeline. They also export without error as a H.264 movie. I can also import these H.264 movies that Premiere created back into another sequence and they too look fine.
Where I'm having problems is when those same H.264 movies are played back in common players like Quicktime, WMP, VLC, or Power DVD, they don't look at all pretty. It doesn't matter whether they are the original out of camera clips transferred to the computer or the movies created in Premiere using the H264 preset. Quicktime always displays the originals as faded. It plays the output files from Premiere fine at first but as soon as I resize, they too get faded. The other players show them as very dark and dingy. I've done some forum reading about this and have tried the gamma stripper utility on both the original clips and the output movies with no change in the results. Any other ideas? Remember these look fine WITHIN Premiere. I just can't find a commonly used player that will do them justice outside of Premiere.
    Thanks.

I solved the problem by downloading and installing the Premiere Pro and After Effects patches from the same place as the Media Encoder update.

It seem to be working okay now.

  • Help with H.264 Clip shot on Sony 5N - breaking up within Premiere

Hello- kind of a complicated set up, but here we go.
Trying to edit 1080P/60 video shot on Sony 5N in H.264. Those clips were imported to my wife's MBP and re-wrapped into .MOV files but otherwise left alone. Unfortunately, the original source files are no longer with us.
Moving the .MOV files over to my PC for editing. I have a Sony VAIO laptop with a Core i7 Processor (1.60 Ghz) and 6 GB of ram. My OS is Windows 7. I am editing within Premiere Pro CS6 (Production Premium version) and have updated the software within the past week.
When I originally tried to look at the clips within the PC, I found that playing the clips with Windows Media Player caused a great deal of corruption in the picture, but that if I played the clips in Quicktime for Windows, they look great. Playing within Premiere gave me the same awful result as WMP.
I downloaded VLC and installed, which play back the files great. After installing VLC, WMP looks great too. No such luck on Premiere, though, files still corrupt.
I have shot a quick video demonstrating the issue, it is below.
I have a feeling that the h.264 codec that Premiere is trying to use isn't going to work with this footage. Is it possible to replace the native codec with whatever one is making it work within VLC?
    Thanks.
Or if the embed doesn't work, here's a link:  http://youtu.be/x7pqu4i5RJU

    Hi Stephen,
Just wanted to tell, that I have the exact same problem!
Made a thread about it as well, and made a bug report. It is so, so, so frustrating. For me, that is not the only glitches. I have grey backgrounds where it should be black, stuttering sequences and stuff like that.
Everything is smooth and wonderful in edit, but after encoding - in Premiere og AME, it f**ks up.
Right now i'm trying to encoding using software only to see if it fixes the problem.
    Have you fixed this?

  • Dropped frames - jumpy playback

I just moved an old FCP3 project to an external drive and opened the project in FCP5. I'm getting dropped frames and generally jumpy playback in the canvas. This may have nothing to do with FCP3 > FCP5 conversion- just thought I'd mention it. Perhaps just a simple oversight in one of my settings. Any ideas would be extremely helpful.

    #12 Dropped frames on capture/playback
    Shane's Stock Answer #12:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58640
    1) Do not capture to your main system drive. Since it is busy reading the operating system and application files, it will intermittently drop frames during capture.
    2) Do not under any circumstances run any anti-virus/filesaver software. Including Norton and Virex. Sure, Apple doles out Virex for free, but FCP doesn't cooperate with it very well.
If you absolutely feel you must keep Virex installed on your system then use Kevin's script to shut it off before you use FCP:
    http://www.pistolerapost.com/viewing/virexhalt.zip
    3) Check the format of the drive you are capturing to. It should be Mas OS Extended, jornalling off. If it isn't, copy your files from it and re-initialize it. If it is any other format, you will encounter problems. If not at first, then eventually.
    4) Trash the FCP preference files. Use FCP Rescue available here:

  • Create closed caption within Premiere Pro

Question: I'm using Premiere Pro 6 on a intel Xeon mac osx 10.8.3. I need to do captions for my project. I followed the Tutorial on "Create closed caption within Premiere Pro". When it comes to going to the window tab and selecting Captions.
Problem: in my copy of Premiere Pro 6 there isn't  this option for selecting the captions buttton.  How can this be resolved ?

That tutorial is talking about Premiere Pro CC, which doesn't come out until June 17th.  The current CS6 version cannot actually create Closed Captioned files.  You need to do that in a third party program for import into PP.

  • 1080i to 1080p conversion within Premiere pro cs3

Is it possible to convert 1080i footage to the 1080p format within Premiere Pro cs3 and if it is, is the conversion an enhancement, giving the converted footage that 25 frame filmic quality.
    Thanks,
    Dazzer.

Thanks everyone for such an amazingly quick response to my query.
If I could just expand a little. Working in SD pal (720 X 576)I have a camera that shoots in progressive mode, so in Premiere Pro, I always set the projects up in progressive mode. On the occasion I imported footage shot in interlaced format, I assumed that "Pro" combined the two passes to create progressive footage. Now I could be wrong here (and probably am) and "Pro" could just have cut the frame rate in half using just one of the passes. Does anyone know which of these scenarios is correct. Because if Pro CS3 works the same way in 1080 mode (cutting the frame rate in half by using just one pass), then I'll just have to bight the bullet and get a camera that shoots in true 1080p mode, and that will really hurt!
    All the best,
    Dazzer.
PS Understand completely that 35mm is King, but we all have to do are best with the budgets we're given.

  • Jumpy playback on laptops

I've been having trouble with jumpy playback on different laptops. I tried lowering the bit rate but it didn't help.
I'm transfering an hour and a half DV footage to DVD.

    Welcome to the boards
Which laptops and which version of DVD SP and which computer do you have?
What bit rates did you use, did you encode outside of DVD SP?
    dvdstepbystep.com/faqs_3.php
    dvdstepbystep.com/faqs_7.php
Also check your brand of media.
Some software players behave inconsistently, in fact I have now found some combinations of DVD SP and Apple DVD Player which will stutter. skip and stall when playing back from the Hard Drives depending on which version of DVD SP I have used and other issues.
    But in general
    1.) Lower bit rates
    2.) AC3 the audio
    3.) Good brands of media
would be three of the first things to look at (also DVD drives can get dirty go bad.)
Do the DVDs play properly on standalone real DVD Players?

  • Jumpy playback with subtitles ?!

    Hi There,
I'm experiencing jittery / jumpy playback of my track with subtitles. My project has a coupe of tracks but only one has subtitles. I burned a test disk and found that on my Powerbook and DVD&TV set, they all play fine, but on a PC the subtitled track plays jittery (the others are fine).
In DVDSP simulation mode I get the same result. It's almost as if the track hesitates then jumps just before a new subtitle... especially if there is a lot of movement in the image. Playing the track from the DVDSP timeline does the same thing, but not as bad.
    Any suggestions or solutions? Please?
    Peter

    hi peter
the problem of jittering happens most of times when we dont give
any stroke or outline to the texts.
so try these values for your subtitles
    text colour white- opacity 15
    outline 1-black-opacity 15
    outline 2-black-opacity 15
try also with bold fonts and with bigger size .

  • Jumpy playback in iMovie since i started importing HD videos from my 4s iphone

I am getting poor jumpy playback with my 4s iphone vides in iMovie. Is this because I have too many projests going or too many clips? I have a macbook pro with 4 gigs ram and 95 gigs left on my HD.

What might be happening is you might need to Optimize the Video to Full Size. Use the File Menu > Optimize > Full Size for each of the video clips in your iPhoto Videos folder inside of the iMovie Events Library. That should trigger iMovie to recognize the original size/resolution of the video clips and then enable the HD size output in the iMovie Share Menu.
