Junk characters in particular Font

Am using "Diwan Kufi" arabic font, when press space, it gives junk character in both illustrator and photoshop.
Same font in other applications like Excel, Word, Textedit are working. Can anyone please help me...??

Junk Characters are coming in the Print Preview of True Type Font

Hi
I am facing one issue. Here I have installed on one of the True type font of Gujarati (one of Regional language for India) language.When I see Print preview using LP01 Output device (which has SWIN Device Type) these true type font coming as Junk characters. But when I take print it is coming perfectly Ok. I want to know is there any setting required to maintain for Output device to see Print Preview in Gujarati also ?
I feel that when System is generating output for Preview it is ignoring true type font..
If there is any solution kindly let me know

Try creating the spool using the unicode device type SWINCF(see note #812821) and check the result.

Microsoft Word and Excel crash on printing in a particular font

I am trying to print in word using a font called "Rupakara". I'm using this font because I want to print the Indian rupee symbol. But when print using this font word crashes. Even if I try to print alphanumeric characters in this font , word crashes.
The same is true for excel.
MS Word Version: 2007
Printer model: HP 1510 All-in-one Series
Can I know the reason why this happens only for this particular font?

I'm also suffering the same issue. I checked the Mime Types in ifsmgr but they appear to be correct.
I'm a little bemused as to the cause.

Report displaying junk characters or Greek or some other language

Hi All,
I have one Custom report in PDF. It is a simple tabular report. When I run this report from Report Builder, it runs fine but when I register it in Oracle Apps and run it from there, it displays all the characters in Greek or some other language or junk characters. Sometimes it works if I change font. But its a trial and error. I dont understand why is it happening. This has happened with one of my other reports too. It worked when I changed the font and its size. This time it didnt work. Any clue how can I fix this issue?
Any lead will be appreciated.

Hi Hussein,
We have similiar issue with our custom PDF reports. We are in the process of upgrading from 11.5.9 to R12.
All these reports work fine in 11.5.9.
Following are the details of our R12 environment:
1) What is the application release? Application release is 12.1.1
2) What is application/database characterset? Database - 11.1.0.7.0 and characterset is UTF8.
3) Is this a text or bitmap report? What is the report language? - It is a text report and Language is English
4) Do you use PASTA for printing? - Yes we do
5) Do you get the correct printout if you print the concurrent request output file from the OS? - If I run the report from report builder directly, Yes. If from Oracle Apps, no.
6) Expected output: "Days in Queue"
Actual Output: when I copy and paste the output here it is showing correct. But on the report it is showing
something like ∆Ωµ.....
7) If I try changing the font, it works
8) A different text field on the same report with the same font shows good.
I would appreciate your help on this one.

Chinese Characters in Spool converted to Junk characters in PDF

I have spool generated from Script , the Spool shows me Chinese Characters.When I am trying to convert the Spool to PDF using Program RSTXPDFT4 , the PDF contains Junk Characters instead of Chinese Characters.Please let me know how to get the correct Chinese Characters in PDF.

Hi,
For the spool you try to convert to PDF, which device type was this spool created by. It must be created via a Chinese device type like e.g. CNSAPWIN. The form used to create the spool must have language key ZH. The fonts used in the form for the Chinese characters must be a Chinese font like CNSONG or CNHEI.
Alternatively, if you create the spool via Unicode deviec type SWINCF, then the font and the form language are not important. It should work to convert the spool to PDF regardless of the language ley or font used in the form.

TRIP send email which contains junk characters

In TRIP transaction after entering TRIP and Saving it I select OVERVIEW then select Mail/Fax button and send Trip details as e-mail to any address. The email body shows Junk characters. What is the Problem. We are on ECC 6 Pack 4

You have a few problems with your script, you are giving values for the width and height for the new document and they will default the ruler unit setting you have in Photoshop, this may not be pixels.
The font name should be the postScript name and they do not contain spaces.
It is best to pass an encoded string to the script and then decode it in Photoshop IE:-

Barcode related Template output Printing Junk characters in XML Publisher

Hi Gurus,
Could you please help me out..
I have a bar code related Template and registered to Concurrent Program(i.e. Report type as Executable) and i run the Program in PDF Output.
I am using free "3 of 9 font" for Bar code in my template
Problem Occurrence Procedure
1) When i submit the Concurrent Program and Click the View Output Button
2) the out put looks good with Bar code and Text in Table Format.
3) when i assign a printer, while Concurrent Program Submission then the printer prints output with Junks Characters and no data in it.
4) if i save the PDF Output file in Desktop and give print then it prints Good with barcode and text in Table Format.
The main problem is when printer is assigned to the Concurrent Program while submission of Request then the Printer output is printing Junk Characters but through View Output Button in Request Window we get Barcode Output Good with data in it
Could you please give me the Solution in Step by step Procedure

If you are using UTF8, direct PDF printing is not supported. Has the barcode font been installed ?
i am using free 3 of 9 bacode font..

Print preview coming in junk characters

Hello All,
Can some tell me when I execute me23n and I want to print the PO details, when I go for print preview, i get a print preview in junk characters, none of the characters is readable, whereas when other person tries to see the same he gets correct display of characters.
Could any one of you let me know Am I missing some setting.

Hello -
The print preview is done by the GUI, which is a Windows application. That the GUI can display a special font, there are two requirements:
- You must install a True Type Font in Windows, which contains a MICR
font (that the GUI can use the font to display the characters).
- You must tell the SAP the name of the Windows font. This
can be done via transaction SE73 -> Font Families, button
'RTF font info'. Note #130658 describes, what you have to enter here.

ADDI: Ping test of AdfDi servlet shows junk characters

Hi we got this issue in one of our QA instances where on accessing the ADFDI servlet we get to see junk characters.
Normally we would expect to get the login screen and upon providing the credentials
Oracle ADF 11g Desktop Integration (11.1.1.6.2) [12]
Response from oracle.adf.desktopintegration.servlet.DIRemoteServlet: OK.
But in this particular instance we get Junk characters. Any pointers will be helpful

Junk characters in ldt file

Hi Experts,
Am a newbie to oracle apps.
Iam using 'messages' to store and display arabic characters in xml report and it is working fine . While migrating the report form one instance to another instance by downloading ldt file, the arabic characters are displaying as junk characters in the ldt file.
Any pointers to resolve this issue will be helpful.

I am using Windows 7 and used notepad to view the ldt file.
The arabic characters are converted to some other format like junk.
I tried uploading the ldt file in the same instance.
After uploading the ldt file in the same instance,the the arabic characters are displaying as junk characters in front end while checking.
Are the arab characters are converted to some other format in ldt file?
i didnt tried uploading the ldt file in someother different instance to check for the correctness of arab characters in front end.Set NLS_LANG as suggested in my previous reply before you download the data and it should be in Arabic (assuming your database/application characterset support Arabic language and your client can read Arabic characters) -- FNDLOAD problem with Arabic font

Junk characters in fmt file after converting fmb to fmt

Hi,
I have a very big form (in forms 6i). I want to search for a specific table and that table has been used in many pl/sql scripts and triggers. I converted that fmb to fmt thru forms builder using Administration - convert.
Now when I open that fmt in wordpad, I see all the scripts in junk characters.
Any advise how I can get a good fmt file.
Pls suggest soon.

What happens when you try to change the fonts in the wordpad...?????
Try , as a second option , to convert your fmb file to .xml file using the frmf2xml [options] file1 [file2...] format....

Bitmap reports(Junk characters)

Report Gurus,
Whenever I am converting a character mode report to bitmap, I end up with lot of junk characters in the report output. And at most of the times I've to manually play around with the fonts of the layout and after lot of hit & trial's the output appears. Can anyone shed some light on why does this happen? Why does the output turn into junk if one is converting a character mode report to bitmap? I am running the reports in Oracle Application's framework, does that have anything to do with this?
Let me know your thoughts on this.

Junk Characters in Devanagari Character Display

I am working on a JAVA Devanagari Word Processor in which user types in English and adjacent JTextBox converts it into Devanagari(Hindi) Fonts.
This is how I have specified the fonts:
Font f2 = new Font("Other", Font.PLAIN, 18);
textbox2.setFont(f2);
But my problem is that I see a lot of junk characters which shouldnt be there.
They do go away if I minimize the Window and then mazimize it.
But theyare quite an eye-soar.
Any suggestions, pls.

ChetanJust sounds like you're drawing things inconsistently. When you minimize/maximize the window, your paint() or paintComponent() or equivalent method(s) are being called, which then re-paint it correctly. Sounds like somewhere else in your code you are painting other junk intermittently and inconsistent with the way paint() will do it.

When I retreive element's content using getText() of JDOM's Element class I am getting junk characters but not hindi text.
