Junk mail folder in iOS7 MAIL?

in iOS7, how do I set up a junk mail folder in MAIL. I use gmail.

Thanks Mulder, I did have 'Enable Junk Mail Filtering' on, but had 'Leave it in my Inbox but indicate it is Junk mail (training)'. I have now checked 'Move it to the Junk Mailbox (automatic)'. I now have a Junk Mailbox showing. Thank you for your assistance. Cheers.

  • Clicking messages in the "sent mail" folder caused the mail program quit

Hi, I use mail from Macbook Pro for my emails for multiple accounts. All the accounts have been working fine, until yesterday, the "sent" folder of one of the account stopped working. Whenever I click on the message I sent, the mail program quit. However, for other email accounts, the "sent mail" folders still working fine as before.
Has anyone encounter similar problem?  how to fix it?
    Thanks alot!

Check your settings in your email account. Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars - tap on your email account and make sure that all of the settings are as they should be.
If all of the settings are correct - Then try the basics and see if they help with this.

Not unless the mail account you are using allows you to place the junk mail in a junk mail folder.  The Mail app has no filtering capibility

  • How large is too large for an Apple Mail folder?

My Apple Mail folder is around 3 GBs. Is there a limit to how big Apple Mail's folder can be?

Individual mailboxes are limited, but not the size of the Mail folder. In Mail 2.x, the limit for a single mailbox is 2 GB. Since each account has its own set of mailboxes, the limit for an Inbox, let's say, would be 2 GB per account.

  • Local mail folder and randomly 0KB sized attachments

    Hi,
I recently copied emails from my imap account to a local mail folder in apple mail. Now I see mails which have 0KB sized attachments. The attachment is still named correctly but has 0kB, so I cant open it. It happens not to all Mails and in some mails some attachments are working (bigger 0kB) and other files are 0kb.
Is there a reason behind this? What happens there?
I couldn't find something on google, thats why I ask here.
    Thanks in advance!

Important update regarding Apple Mail and Yahoo! in particular (this does not apply to the Sent items/lost outgoing message problem): Apple Mail is not at fault!  I lost several messages when I moved them from my Inbox and Sent folders to another custom folder, and I thought Apple Mail was at fault, but according yo Yahoo!, it seems that my problem was actually caused by a sync issue between another mobile device (an Android phone) and Yahoo! mail.
Here is part of Yahoo!'s e-mail regarding this issue:
We recently experienced an issue syncing emails for some of our users when accessing email from an IMAP device like an iPhone or an Android phone. Emails that you might have moved from your inbox to folders (including the trash folder) may have been temporarily unavailable. We fixed this issue, and recovered emails that may not have been synced to the right folder. [...] We have automatically added a folder called "Synced Messages" to your email account today located in the left navigation of your inbox.
I wonder if my occasional Sent folder issue is also a Yahoo! problem, not Apple Mail?
Going back to the corporate IMAP (i.e. non-Yahoo!) issue mentioned by Mitchell Group, what kind of e-mail server are you using?  I have never experienced IMAP issues with my corporate e-mail server (Zimbra Collaborartion Suite on Linux) using Apple Mail (IMAP) as a client.  My only headache, to this day, has been with Yahoo!

  • I have 6 mail accounts and today mail opens to a "welcome to mail" log ???

I run like 10 mailboxes and 6 email accounts on the Mail App. Yet today I open Mail and suddenly it pops the "welcome to mail" window. I know my accounts and mailboxes are there, but i can´t figure out how to properly open them?? any ideas???
i have important stuff in there

First in the Finder, open Home/Library and locate the Mail folder -- Duplicate the Mail folder and drag the resulting copy to the Desktop for temporary backup. Close the Finder.
Open Mail, and setup your accounts again, and if prompted to Import anything, Decline and Mail should rediscover the account folders that presumedly you found above.
But let's talk about why this may have happened. How much free space do you have on your hard drive, or if partitioned on the boot partition? If that is not an apparent issue, and if you were not using an application (such as video or audio) that used a lot of disk space temporarily, then might you have closed the lid on your laptop before Mail had finished its housekeeping tasks?
All these questions are because OSX can overwrite preference files when low on space, or if housekeeping tasks do not finish then the preferences may not be preserved.

  • Need help migrating from Mail 3.6 to Mail 4.2

    I just bought a new 27" i7 iMac w/ 8gb ram, 1 TB hard drive.
I'm trying to migrate my settings over from my old G4 17" Powerbook. I'm running 10.5.8 on the laptop with Mail 3.6.
How do I import my mailboxes from my old computer onto the new one? I've tried copying the old Mail folder over to the new computer over firewire. That didn't work. I then archived the mailboxes on the old computer and brought those files over to the new machine. I tried to import them on the new machine directly through mail, no dice.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

you need to do it with both the Mail folder AND the mail preference file.
quit Mail and copy over the whole folder /users/username/library/mail AND the file /users/username/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. start Mail and it should look as it did on the old computer.
BTW, using Migration Assistant you can migrate your entire user including Mail, address book, music and so on.

  • Want to use Mail as my primary mail application instead of Eudora

I have both Mail and Eudora set up on my Mac. Eudora is my default email client. Have set up Mail as some applications look for Mail.
Will appreciate advice from experienced Mail users for my issues
    1) Mail has some of my mail boxes, from the initial set up but I have more newer mailboxes in Eudora.
IF I again use the import function, will Mail JUST Import the mail boxes it does not have or will I find that duplicates of every mail box has been created?
Would I be better off deleting all the mail boxes in Mail and so importing fresh?
2)MY Eudora accounts are POP. IF want to go with IMAP in Mail , do I simply make a change in Mail's preferences?
    3) Can I import my filters (rules) into Mail or do I have to recreate? In past I could not easily get Apple mail filters to work. Have extensive filters in Eudora.
    4) I see there are some third party software to help migrate mail from one client to another. Any suggestions?
    Will appreciate your thoughts

Not sure since I switched from Eudora to Mail all at once, but if you want a safety net, I'd back up your current Mail folder (home/Library/Mail), delete them from Mail, then do the import.
2)MY Eudora accounts are POP. IF want to go with IMAP in Mail , do I simply make a change in Mail's preferences?
One reason I switched from Eudora to Mail was that IMAP just wasn't working in Eudora. I'm trying to remember...Back when I did it, I think you want to specify IMAP when you first set up the Mail account because it may not be possible to edit it later.
    3) Can I import my filters (rules) into Mail or do I have to recreate? In past I could not easily get Apple mail filters to work. Have extensive filters in Eudora.
Eudora Mailbox Cleaner (linked below) claims to convert them. I don't think it had that feature when I migrated.
I had extensive filters in Eudora and ended up manually rebuilding them in Mail. For the most part I was able to recreate them, and the good thing about rebuilding them is that they get cleaned up and obsolete rules left out. But hopefully EMC does a good enough job.
    4) I see there are some third party software to help migrate mail from one client to another. Any suggestions?
Unless Mail has gotten better at it, definitely avoid using Mail to do the conversion. Use Eudora Mailbox Cleaner, which is free. Its conversion is more accurate and preserves more of the original message information than Mail's conversion. Read the notes at the site.

  • Reduce mail file bloat in Mail 1.3.11 OS 10.3.9

How do I reduce the size of my Mail files (mailboxes or folders)? I am using Mail 1.3.11.
If I view my sent mail folder from in Mail, it show 221 messages (172MB). But if I view it from the finder at ~/Library/Mail/POP-my accont@.../Sent Messages.mbox then the file is 1.98GB.
I have tried selecting it and rebuilding, that seams to create an error where all the messages just disappear, but the file does not get any smaller. My inbox is also very much over size.
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

It looks like you have the problem described here:
    Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty
If you’ve let that mailbox to grow too much, however, it’s too late now to solve the problem as described in the article. Mail simply cannot handle it and the only thing that rebuilding the mailbox accomplishes is making the messages inaccessible.
Because of the differences between Mail 1.x and Mail 2.x, further discussing your problem here might confuse other users with apparently similar problems running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), so please start a new topic in the Mail & Address Book - Mac OS X 10.3 & earlier forum, or just look for other threads discussing the same problem there. This is actually a FAQ in that forum.

  • Cannot move junk email to Bulk Mail folder in Yahoo, greyed out

I've searched but so far no luck.  Ever since I added my two Yahoo email accounts on my iPhone 4, I cannot seem to send junk email from my inbox to my Bulk Mail folder, it is greyed out.  First off, I've confirmed that the Bulk Mail folder on my iPhone is the same as my Spam folder in Yahoo mail on the desktop.  I can see the same emails in both folders.  Anyone have the same experience and found a way to correct this, or is this just a Yahoo limitation?

I am having the same problem, but I'm not very clear on how to follow the steps.
    went to my yahoo account in IOS;
    hit edit, hit "new mailbox" at the bottom right corner of the screen;
    entered a name;
    below that, it has "Mailbox Location", I opened it;
it list all my personal folders, I am stuck here.
How do I "point the mailbox location to the Bulk Mail folder", as instructed? Am I missing a step?
This is for iPhone 4S, with the latest released version. Thank you!

  • Mail going to the Junk Mail folder but not marked as Junk Mail

    Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me. It's something I had done but I don't know what I have done. All of a sudden all my emails from eBay are going directly to my Junk Mail folder, although when I try to click them as 'Not Junk' (Thumbs Up) they are not even selected as Junk Mail and I can still select them to be Junk Mail.
At the moment I'm just dragging them back into the correct folder but it still keeps happening. (I sell a lot on eBay so it's happening quite often).
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot delete item from junk mail folder in iPad?

Some items cannot be deleted from junk mail folder on iPad 2. It will not move to trash.

Have you tried swiping across the message in the preview pane when you open the junk folder instead of opening the email and trying to use the trash can icon?
If that will not work either, try rebooting your iPad and then see if you can delete the junk mail.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
