Junk Mail from Ical?

I set up email reminders in ical. These reminders always show in the mail program as "junk". I did check the junk mail filters. These reminders are being sent from someone in my address book (me). I also click "not junk" on the message. But my own calendar reminders still show up as junk mail. What is wrong with this program?

I am having the exact same issue.
I have Reset Junk filtering and have it set to 'Move it to the Junk Mailbox'. Mail still treats email reminders from myself, as junk.
Anyone have any suggestions how to fix this? Alarms/Reminders that you don't get to see are pretty useless.

  • Junk Mail from a specific individual making me insane....how can I block it

I'm getting junk mail from a friend of a friend, and I mark his messages as junk EVERY TIME I GET ONE. Yet, somehow, alas, every message from him gets through to my inbox. How can this (and a homicide) be prevented? If you mark a message "Junk" why is the very next message from the exact same sender not Junk? Is this a Mac virus? What do I have to do? He is not in my address book, nor is the setting checked to receive messages always from senders in my address book.
I'm seriously going to drop an atom bomb on this guy if his junk mail keeps arriving......he is a mo-ron who barely knows how to use a computer. I'm not calling him.
    PLEASE HELP ME......PLEASE....

Its because you have his email or other contact information set in the "Previous recipients" list. To remove him from this list, go to the "Window" menu and choose "Previous Recipients." Then locate and remove all instances of his name and email, and try adding him to the junk mail list again.
Another option is to create a rule that recognizes his email address and moves his email to the trash or Junk Mail folder.
Lastly, you might as well just ask him to remove you from his email list...

  • Problem Removing Junk Mail from POP Server

Is there a way to automatically remove junk mail from the POP server when I delete the Junk within the Apple Mail application?
The Mail application Junk filter is working pretty well for me on my primary MacBook Pro system. My inbox is mostly junk free and I like that I can check the Junk folder to see if any "good" e-mail got snared before deleting the junk from the junk folder.
However, "Erasing Junk Mail" from the junk mail folder does NOT erase the junk from my POP server. So if I check the same e-mail account on another computer or my Treo, I have endure the same junk messages again which can quickly mount up to 100+ messages over the course of a day.
I can manually delete messages from the POP server by using the Get Info window in the Shortcuts/Actions Menu at the bottom left of the Mail browser.
However, I have to manually identify and select the junk messages from all the mail on the POP server to delete it which is both tedious and time consuming.
Isn't there some way instruct the program to automatically delete Junk from the server when it's deleted from the browser?
It seems like it would be an obvious feature.
I've looked for some way to do this including apple scripts but I can't find a way to do it.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

    michellzappa,
All of my e-mail providers have some sort of web based access for my accounts. They identify, segregate and prevent any message marked as bounce from being downloaded to my inbox. Is this what you are describing as redundant?
Mail Scripts 2.7.10 by Andreas Amann, provides an excellent compilation of mail scripts.
I would advise that you create a new post with the title. "Can I write an applescript to automatically clean out messages on server every hour?" in the AppleScript Forum.

  • Hoping someone out there can with getting junk mail from my  windows live mailbox ? on my iphone

Hoping someone could help me with getting junk mail from windows mail to my i phone?, i would only like to get my inbox mail

Are you accessing your Windoze Live account as a POP account or as an Exchange account with the iPhone's Mail app?
If as a POP account, received messages that are in the account's Inbox at the incoming mail server will be downloaded.
If you are accessing the account as an Exchange account, all server stored mailboxes will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail app. If as an Exchange account, seems like you would want to have the account's junk mailbox available in case a legitimate message is incorrectly marked as junk and moved out of the account's Inbox mailbox.

  • Blocking junk mail from iCloud.me

How do I stop junk mail from coming to my me.com email?

I can't filter junk using any iCloud rules. There's no option under those rules where you can say if a message is marked as junk then do X. Do you actually have the ability to filter junk from the web interface?

  • How do you keep junk mail from appearing even after I have hit the "junk" button when it appeared the first time?

I have several email accounts that come to my mac.   When junk appears I hit the junk button.   Does it take awhile to train the junk or is there a way to set up mail so that it automatically goes to junk and does not appear at all in my inbox?
It's so time consuming to get rid of this stuff.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Grammynancy

Hello, it does take time to train it.
You can setup rules if there's any constancy, like I find that 99.999% of mail from yahoo is junk, so I have a Rule setup to just get rid of it permanently, I never see them at all...
But you could have it be If Subject contains Ciagra, Perform the following functions, Mark as Junk... or whatever.

  • Sending e-mail from Ical to mail is not possible?!

    Hi out there!
I desperately need to know how I use the alarm from Ical where it sends me a reminder by mail. When I choose "send e-mail" in the "alarm-window" in my event it says something like this: "You have to add your own card to your e-mailadress in your adressbook before you can use post-alarms" (this is translated from danish)
Does anyone know what to do?
I have my own adress in my adressbook... How do I get ical to find it?
Any help will be very appreciated!
    Thanks!

I have the same problem and need an answer too.

  • Prevent Junk Mail from Downloading

All my junkmail is downloading even though Outlook 2003 sends it to the Junkmail folder. My old Blackberry did not get the junkmail; can my iPhone 3GS be set up to not receive the junkmail?

Unless the account is an IMAP account, it doesn't matter what Outlook is doing in this regard. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only since none of the mailboxes for the account are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
Comparing the iPhone's Mail client to the Blackberry is comparing dogs to cats.
The iPhone's Mail client communicates direct with the incoming and outgoing mail server for an email account just as Outlook on your computer does. RIM has a dedicated email delivery service for the Blackberry located in Canada. It is going through a 3rd party and system with a Blackberry.
You aren't complaining about Outlook downloading all your junk mail, nor are you complaining about why the email account provider for your email account isn't doing something about this at the incoming mail server.

  • How can I delete junk mail from Gmail

This is driving me crazy. I have defined my Gmail account as IMAP in my Mail app. However there is a mailbox with the name All Mail but no Inbox. How can I just see valid messages and how can I mark messages as junk and remove them from All Messages and never see any messages from these junk senders again? For example JC Penney sends about one message a day and I have to manually delete them. I've looked at the Gmail settings via webmail and haven't found a way to get rid of them.

You could enable Mail's filter as well if you want.  If you do so, I suggest you tell Mail to use Gmail's Spam folder as Mail's Junk folder.  Do this by selecting the Gmail Spam folder, then go to the mail menu bar under the "Mailbox" menu "Use This Mailbox For" -> "Junk".  This way, when you mark a mail as junk within Apple Mail, it will move to the Gmail spam folder, thus telling Gmail it is spam.
Alternatively, you could use Rules to kick out some of those mail messages you routinely get particularly if they always come from the same e-mail or have the similar subjects.

  • How do I block junk mail from going to my iPhone and iPad?

I blocked a ton of emails from Outlook on my work PC but they still come to my iPhone and iPad. The block on my PC did the job but for some reason, my phone and ipad cannot tell the difference. Please help! I cant stand getting bogus emails all day long!

Sorry KT, but that answer is ridiculous.
Since 2007 there have been hundreds, if not thousands, of messages on this discussion forum about the need for client-side email filtering on the iPhone.  Server-side filtering has two major problems:
Many people using the same server/service have different notions of what’s SPAM.  I might need to see marketing messages from some firm I work with and ignore political messages.  You might work in politics and want to filter something completely different.  There is not way for a service to filter out SPAM unless it has individual data on what to filter out.  Programmers who write services choose to put common functionality on the server side and user-specific stuff on the client side because that’s the most effective solution.
All good mail clients filter SPAM in some way.  Even Apple Mail.app filters SPAM using a relatively sophisticated algorithm. Thus the folks who do server filtering know that an additional, fine-grain, filter exists downstream from them. If they do more filtering upstream, they will make more mistakes, and users will get mad.  They are incentivized by every other email client to filter out only the truly blatant SPAM, and let users handle the rest with client-side filtering.
There are other iPhone email clients, for jailbroken phones, so the market for this capability clearly exists.  Why has Apple gotten the answer wrong for 5 years?
Frankly, my kids got me an iPhone for Christmas because they thought I was a luddite.  I’m looking to get out of the contract because I just can’t use it to read my email and my old phone was more than good enough to talk on. I’ve been an Apple customer since the Original Mac, but this is the first Apple product that just doesn’t work.

  • I got junk mail from myself!

I received an email of questionable content apparently from myself. The "from" address turned out to be the URL of the .mac email login page. Has my .mac security been compromised?

Not sure what you mean, but spammers can put whatever they want in the From header, including other people’s addresses, such as the address of the recipient itself. There is nothing you can do about it, but that doesn’t mean your mail account is compromised in any way.
If your outgoing (SMTP) server allowed you to do this (many do), you could also put whatever you wish in Preferences > Accounts > Email Address, and all your messages would appear as if they were sent from that address to anyone not looking at the full headers of the message, regardless of whether the address is valid or not or who does it belong to.

The senders names appear to be random generated so I can't block one name.  I am getting 10 to 20 per day.  How vcan I stop it?

  • Mail marks iCal email notifications as junk mail

I suppose this could be an iCal problem or a Mail problem, but email notifications that come from iCal are marked as junk mail every time. Yes, I have "Sender of message is in my Address Book" checked off in Mail preferences, and my address is listed in Address Book. If I send an email from me to me via Mail it is not marked as junk, but from iCal it is always marked as junk. I found posts about this going back many years, surely there would be a resolution by now?

    Hey there,
I had the same issue and was able to find the answer in another discussion.
You just need to highlight the card in Address Book and then choose "Make This My Card" in the "Card" menu.
    Best,
    Tom

  • How to delete a junk mail that keeps coming back after deleting it from the junk box?

I have a junk mail from February that I really want to delete but it keeps coming back after deleting it several times. It comes back in the junk mail as 'read'.
    How should I remove it?
Thanks for your help in advance!

If the email provider is Google, try going to the gmail web portal, (log on from a computer or your iPad using safari), and manually delete the contents of your junk and trash.
I did this today, and the reappearing junk has not (as of yet) reappeared.  Knocking on wood.
