Junk mail since using iPad

Since using an iPad I am receiving more and more junk mail.  I have tried to add to Blocked Senders but I still receive them.  Anyone else suffered from this?

The Mail app on the iPad does not have any junk filtering capabilities. You'd need to log into your email account through your email provider's web page and see what type of filtering they offer on their side.

I get junk mail on my iPad that states "this message has no content". If I try to delete it or click on it my .mac mail freezes up and it takes some time for my mail program to continue.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Ideas for resolution?

Yeah, I've seen it from iOS 7 to the present. It appears to be a network issue, as the Mail app is trying to grab the information to display the first few lines in the abbreviated display. I haven't had mine freeze though. When I click on it, it will simply show a blank message. Now I can quit the app and later reload the app, and "sometimes" the contents come back right away. In other instances, not right away, but eventually.
You might try quitting all the apps, then going to the Settings app to Reset and reset your Network Settings. The iPad will reboot. Try it again after that.

  • Cannot delete item from junk mail folder in iPad?

Some items cannot be deleted from junk mail folder on iPad 2. It will not move to trash.

Have you tried swiping across the message in the preview pane when you open the junk folder instead of opening the email and trying to use the trash can icon?
If that will not work either, try rebooting your iPad and then see if you can delete the junk mail.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • How can i get my junk mail on my ipad?

How can i get my junk mail on my ipad ? I only receive regulare e-mail on my ipad. Offten regular mail is placed into junk mail.

With an IMAP account along with storing the account's junk mailbox on the server with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account.
All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPad's Mail app along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account. You will also be able to transfer a legit message from the account's junk mailbox to the account's Inbox mailbox.
None of this is possible with a POP account.

can't open mail since using os x mavericks

    Hi, try this forst...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
    If still a problem...
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open Mail.

  • More junk mail since I've made and applied rules...why?

I was getting 6-8 junk emails a day. It was recommended that I use rules to delete them and prevent them from re-occuring. Now that I have applied the rules I am getting two to three times more junk mail. Why is this happening?

Because your email address has made the spammer's top ten list.
The rules won't prevent spam. They just move the spam to the trash.
Do you have the Junk mail filtering turned on in Mail's preferences?
It will attempt to identify incoming spam and move it into the Junk folder. If it doesn't catch a message, you can mark that message as junk and it might start learning that messages like that are junk. Also, it may catch some messages that are not junk. So, you have to periodically peruse the Junk mail folder to see if it has caught anything legitimate. You can mark those as Not Junk so that it will learn not to catch those.
"Thumbs Down" button marks it as Junk
The button turns to a "Thumbs Up" to mark it as "Not Junk". Also, there will be a banner across the top of the message where you can mark it as "Not Junk."
It is also advisable to set Mail so that it doesn't show remote images. When those images are loaded, the spammer can tell that you opened them because they are retrieved from their servers. That validates you email to them and they now have a more valuable email address they can sell to other spammers.

  • MacBook Pro very slow and junk mail after using wifi in Italy

After using different wifis in airports and hotels in Italy I am getting lots of junk mail in my inbox.  Also my internet is extremely slow.  I got a new router hoping that was the problem, and ATT checked our line to see if that was the problem.  I 'm afraid I picked up some sort of virus.  Is there an easy solution?

  • Can not stop junk mail, even using sweep

some time ago participated in a firefox survey, now have unending junk mail which I never had before. using sweep does not stop it, with name or domain changing slightly every time.
Short of creating a new account I am at my wits end.
can sweep not be configured to block a sender with a combination of either or name / domain

    Hi andybeck-
It sounds like you volunteered [inadvertantly] to participate more than you expected to! Can you tell me who the junk mail is coming from specifically? Usually anything from Mozilla/Firefox has opt out links within the email.

  • Junk mail problem, using IMAP

I have many folders on my IMAP account and server-side rules to sort my e-mail. Mail correctly synchronizes all these folders (almost, it sometimes shows a wrong number of new messages until I open the folder. But that's a minor issue).
The problem is junk-mail. In one folder i receive a lot of spam. When the junk filter is in training mode, it correctly identifies the spam messages and highlights them with the brown color. When I configure the junk filter to "automatic" mode it seems to correctly detect junk mail, and moves messages to the Junk folder (when I answer "Yes" to run the filter in the current mailbox instantly). However, when I receive spam and the filter is already in automatic mode, messages seem to be detected as spam, but they're not moved to the Junk folder. When I view the messages, I get the button to mark them as "Not junk". The messages aren't marked with the brown color either.
This is an issue both when the Junk folder is on the server, or locally.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues? If I don't find a solution to this I'll have to switch to Thunderbird...

Yes, I am having the same problem. I've tried changing a slew of mail preferences. So far nothing is quite satisfactory. In fact, for about 36 hours I didn't recieve any email at all, including test messages sent to myself. I'm not sure where it all went. It's confusing. And Mail's documenation *****.
I'd love to hear if you figure this out.

  • Messages coming to multiple iphones since using ipad and icloud

Since i got an ipad, and subsequently used facetime to someone on it, now all my messages from that person appear on my iphone and also my partners! My partners iphone is synced with my apple id as we share itunes etc, but how can i avoid this happeneing?

They are coming through iMessage. Each phone should have it's own Apple ID. Or you can turn off iMessage.

You want junk mail? The filters that prevent you from getting junk mail are set in your preferences by whatever filters your email provider has available for you to set. You set those preferences in your webmail Settings not on the iPad.

I receive both My husbands emails and mine through my ipad. We both have gmail accounts.  His emails are coming down on the ipad but not mine.  I haven't received mail since Saturday. We use the email for business I desperately need it and I don't have a laptop anymore as it is broken.   In my wisdom I desired to buy an ipad instead,  what a mistake.

The iPad will support multiple Gmail accounts, but of course you have to set each one up individually.  Did you set up both accounts?  Go into Settings/ Mail, Contacts, Calendars to confirm both accounts exist.  If they do, also familiarize yourself on how to navigate between accounts to make sure you can view your Inbox.  You may also want to check your settings to make sure that you have the default account set up as you expect for Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Notes (if you're using all those features).  That is important only when initiating something new, you have to have a default account to do such a thing so make sure the default is your account since it is your iPad (assuming that's what you want).
Alternatively, install the free Gmail app and then use only his (or your) account with that app and use the standard iOS Mail app for the other account.

  • On my iPad home screen, the mail app used to indicate the number of new emails I had with a number in a red circle.  This has vanished since I upgraded.  Does anyone know why, and how to restore this?

On my IPad 2 home screen, the mail app used to indicate the number of new messages with a number in a red circle, next to the app.  This has vanished, I think about the same time as when I upgraded to the new OS.  Does anyone know why and how to restore this feature?

Thanks.  While you were replying to my question, I went into notifications and figured
it out.  Appreciate the quick response!

  • HT1694 Why is it when I delete my junk mail on my pc they don't disappear on my iPad or iPhone. As well when I put a file in a folder it doesn't go in the folder on other devices. Why is it that u have to delete junk mail one at a time. Very annoying

Why does my junk mail delete on pc but not on iPad or iPhone  why do I have to delete each one seperately on these devices and why do my files go into folders on the pc and don't appear on iPad or iPhone

Not too sure about the last part of your post but you have to manage your emails on each device if you are using a Pop3 account. It is only IMAP which provides for synchronisation across all devices. If you are not familiar with this then Google IMAP AND POP3 for more information.
