Junk symbols for asian language characters in PO PDF

Hi,
We have a custom program to generate the PO output and I have changed it to send the PO output to multiple emails/users using the steps given in the below link.
The issue I'm facing is that when the PDF is generated and emailed,if I open the PDF in the email, for asian language characters in the PO data,I see wierd symbols.
Has anyone faced this issue?
This is happening for even the standard PO output/email which is sent out which indicates that this is something with the WINDOWS/ADOBE settings .
Any pointers will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello,
You have to make sure that the spool was created by the correct device type which does support
the language, you can change to the cascading device type SWINCF in SPAD, all unicode characters
can be handled by this device type, note 812821.
Secondly, goto SCOT-> Settings-> Device Types for Format Converstion, here you must set the
correct device type too, you can change the device type to also SWINCF here for the used form language.
Best regards,
Wen Peng

    Hi George,
Thanks! It does work in XML format. But since I would need to present the data in a spreadsheet, is there any other way I could go around it?

  • Support for Asian Languages

Well, it looks like support for Asian Languages in Dynamic
Textfields wasn't included in this version as well. I have a simple
flash file embeded in an html file with 2 text boxes. Here's the
    code I'm using:
    var strJapanese = "あらわせて"
    var strChinese = "我想你";
    japanese_txt.text = strJapanese;
    chinese_txt.text = strChinese;
I currently have these fonts installed in the \Windows\Fonts\
    directory:
    mingliu.ttc
    msgothic.ttc
but all I see is a bunch of squares in the text boxes. I have
verified that my pocket pc can use these fonts in other programs.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    BackBayChef

I used both the options but no one helps. Check the images for the understanding the problam. I try Arial unicode ms as other font  but it does give correct visiblity of font.
    tell some another option.

  • Asha series support view asian language characters...

i didn't own a asha phone. i am from malaysia.
can asha series support view those asian language like chinese, japanese, korean characters in web browser, music player?
can i switch different language interface? example chinese or japanese interface?
is that also include those asian input method in the asha os? i can switch to chinese input method and type chinese characters? or switch to japanese input method type?

Not aware of any Nokia Feature Phone still supporting Japanese. Furthermore, Nokia Belle (Nokia 700), Series 40 (Nokia 310) and Asha Software Platform (Nokia 502) come with a set limited to very few languages around Malaysia, that depends on the firmware variant (product code) of the bought phone. Nokia Care is able to flash to another product code, but cannot create any combination of language packs. They have to find a product code which contains your desired language packs.
Therefore, I recommend to go for a Nokia Lumia phone. These use Windows Phone as operating system and within that, you are able to add Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Malay by yourself. And switching between them, is done with on tap on the keyboard.

  • Control of sort order for asian language navigation

I am a help writer who is working with both development and a localization vendor to create localized javahelp. I am the most knowledgeable about javahelp, which is not saying much. It has come to me to figure out how to establish the correct sort order for Simplified Chinese and Japanese language Index and Glossary navigators, Could someone explain to me how this is done outside of tools like RoboHelp (which has caused us major headaches yet seems to be the only way the vendor knows how to do JavaHelp). In layman's terms, please.

Same issue here, and the bug syncs to my iPhone, so when I want to quickly text or e-mail someone, their phone numbers and e-mail addresses appear in the wrong order, Work or Home before iPhone or Mobile. How can we get this big fixed in the next Snow Leopard update?

  • Help from people with Asian language facility

hi y'all (apologies for the double post)
can anyone with facility in Asian languages please take a look at the following screenshots?
we've got a new weird itunes-not-launching problem which is also associated with slow shutdowns. one of the end program dialogs references a program with non-printing characters in the title bar:
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?pic=1FxuPcNpnMD2xRny7rSDB5hFkLNMw0
if Asian language support is enabled on the PC, the non-printing characters resolve into asian-language characters:

if anyone could read those characters, please post back to let us know if they are saying anything intelligible.

I also just compaired the lettering from that error to these 2 website:
    http://www.apple.com.cn/support/
    http://www.apple.com/jp/support/
It looks closer to Chinese, and I know for a fact its not Korean.
Ut oh Just did another test on language, also looks alot similar to Taiwan :/.
I'm still waiting for my friend to wake up.
Just out of curiousity, who is having this error, You sortof mentioned that it was related to slow in shut down in Windows?

  • Font issue (Thonburi font for Thai language)

    Dear Apple and friends,
I'm using Final Cut Pro X (latest update as of 19/11/2014) on latest os x 10.10.1
While I was on OS X 10.9, I use the Thonburi (Font come with the system) for insert a Thai subtitle in the video without any problem.
But today I found out that I have some problem with Thai character on Thonburi font
I also attached the screenshot for your reference.
Please help me, I do need to use this font to keep consistent on the brand.
Thanks and looking forward to your help,
    Best,
    Note Pawares (Thailand)

What title is it? You can try a different title and see if the problem remains.
Also, does the problem always occurs in the first line of a title, or only if there is more than one line, or... you should provide feedback to Apple, and be as specific as possible. (Final Cut Pro->Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback...)
It could be a problem with the font, or with how FCP X deals with it. There used to be similar problems with other fonts for Asian languages some time ago, but this the first time I hear of one for the current version.

  • Junk characters coming in the PDF report for Lithuanian language

    hi all,
I am facing a problem like some junk characters are coming while generating the report in PDF format in Reports 10g.
Junk characters (i.e something like revere of ?(question mark)) coming only for the special characters in the report when my application language set it as LITHUANIAN_LITHUANIA.UTF8.
Actually our application is supporting multi langauges; like English, German, French, Lithuania etc.
And in the Forms the the characters are appearing correctly... but while generating reports only i am having this issue for LITHUANIAN language.
I am using back end as Oracle 10g verision 2, and front as Reports 10g only.
Is there any way to resolve it?
    thanks in advance
    renjish

    Hi,
I updated the reports.sh which is in Oracle Home path initailly and tried the report. But its not coming properly, some other junk characters are appearing now for the special characters
    For e.g:
Actual English word: Funct. Group Poultry Parts Fresh
Correct Lithuanian Word: Funct. Grupė naminių paukščių dalių, šviežios
In Report: Funct. Grupė naminių paukšĕių dalių, šviežios
    Steps i have done:
    1. Modified reports.sh with nls_lang as LITHUANIAN_LITHUANIA.UTF8
    2. Run the report, output was coming like above e.g.
Is anything wrong what i did?.
or Report engine(reports.sh) will support multi-languages by using the Environment ID only(as you explained before, putting ENVID in repserver.conf - reportserver.)
    thanks
    renjish

  • Completed Form requires Asian Language Pack w/ no visible Asian characters

Why do Reader users receive a notification requiring them to install the "Asian Language Pack" after I fill out a form and send it?  The form has no visible Asian characters.

Fonts listed under Document Properties of the completed form are: TimesNewRomanPSMT (TrueType) & TimeNewRomanPS-BoldMT(Embedded) TrueType.
I neglected to mention that the original form (incomplete) does not require the Language Pack.  What settings/preferences can be changed in Acrobat to prevent Unicode (or other unwanted Fonts) from being used when completing the form?

  • General guidelines for reliable exchange of asian language files?

Our U.S.-based office prints packaging for asian colleagues. Their InDesign, Illustrator, and PDF files contain asian character sets. Often, the supplied fonts and embedded fonts are unfamiliar and unavailable in the U.S.. I'm concerned that font substitution or other text changes can occur nonetheless. I don't want to recommend that they covert type to outlines.
Are there any general guidelines or best practices that will ensure we-- and our print suppliers-- accurately reproduce what our asian designers intended? Can you recommend some high quality fonts for traditional and simplified Chinese languages?

Obviously, for PDF files, embedding the fonts solves the problem completely.

  • East Asian language support for adding closed captions (Japanese)

I am trying to add Japanese subtitles to my project as closed captions. However, once added the Japanese captions show as little white boxes in the preview pane.
Is there no way to add Asian language support so it displays?
I am using Premiere Pro CC (US English version although I am located in Japan).

    Hello drummonds,
Is your Mac connected to an internet connection?
Is your device unlocked and you are using a different carrier than that of the one branded to your device?
Backup your device data and reinstall your software as shown in KB19915; once the reload completes try going back into the Add/Remove applications tab.
Let me know how you make out.

  • Special characters being read from the unicode file for greek language

    Hi All,
I have a report which would upload a unicode file and then update the vendor master data accordingly.
The file contains greek characters too.
when the file is being read in the code, some special characters are being added up to the vendor number which is the first entry. The special characters are not included in the file , but are added up only to the first vendor number and not any other vendor numbers.
The logic that is being used is as follows :

  • 1602 errors when trying to install the Extended Asian Language font pack for Adobe Reader XI

My company is trying to deploy Adobe Reader XI 11.0.10 with the Extended Asian Language font pack via SCCM 2007, and some computers are failing the install of the Extended Asian Language font pack with 1602 error.  Reader is installing successfully, but the font pack log file will have this entry:
    ADelRCP logging: :   In Process : MsiExec.exe
ADelRCP logging: : Setup terminated because critical files are in use or applications that interfere with files installed by setup are running. Review the preceding entries in the log file and close the applications listed before retrying setup.
CustomAction ApplicationInUse returned actual error code 1602 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)
Action ended 9:08:42: ApplicationInUse. Return value 2.
Action ended 9:08:42: INSTALL. Return value 2.
Our automation to install this is killing Reader and Acrobat before running the Reader 11.0.10 install, so I do not know what would be in use here.
I appreicate any suggestions you have.  I can provide the entire log file, upon request.  Thanks.
