We know that you mean well, Anne, and we do appreciate it, but posts like these are typically not permitted, just because they're off-topic.

  • Merry X'mas and Happy New Year

Merry X'mas and Happy New Year 2008 to you all!
In advance for the new year, thanks for all the contributions. 2007 was a great year for Arch.

It's a bit late (I was otherwise occupied for some reason yesterday ) but I hope everyone had an excellent Christmas.

  • Happy New Year, everyone !

You have all been so helpful to me in this Forum. You have taught me things when you probably didn't know you were doing it and at opportune moments you have made me laugh. And that's something to be treasured.
This year I began collecting comments and witticisms that you have posted that I found particularly apropos, witty, ironic, humorous, etc. etc. - and here are a few of my favorites. They made me pause and laugh at the very moments I needed a good laugh. To the authors - I'm sure you will recognize your own , and thank you very much !
"Render files are sneaky little, fast moving, ferret like creatures of sharp intelligence and low morals. I chase them but never seem to catch them ... "
"Wow, and I thought my Fisher Price movie cam, you know, the one that records video on audio cassettes, was awesome ... maybe I should upgrade my gear, eh? ..."
"He once accused me of saving for a rainy day and then being too tight to open my umbrella, which I thought a bit rich coming from him."
And one of my very favorites of all, a response to someone who wanted to know what button to toggle in Final Cut Express to make his videos 'more cinematic' -
"You should "toggle" the "Film school" plugin. You know, the one that takes four years to render, and adds a veneer of style and substance to your timeline. You can find this plug in at many universities around the country. Some are more expensive than others, but they basically all have the same impact on your movie. Good luck."
    Happy New Year, everyone !

I'm glad to see that some of the less technologically helpful comments are also noticed!
Of course you do realise that this thread is probably breaking the strict "Terms of Use" of this forum as it does not relate to a current FCE problem!
Happy New Year - at least to those who use the Gregorian Calendar.

  • How do I move an account to the top of the column of accounts? I have version 31.3. Thanks for any help you can offer and Happy New Year!

I see that my Thunderbird account listings (in the leftmost column) are alphabetical. I want to move the bottom listing to the top. Is this possible? I'm using Windows 7. Oh, and did I mention Happy New Year?

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • (and happy new year!)

I get abit sick and tired of he fact that they just random delete al kinda playersWhen you report a real bad player then nothing happens but players who never say something wrong even did buy gold get deleted without reasonAnd then they get a logo like HAPPY GHOST PET and that kinda crap Some play long time to reach e good level and just get deleted without a reasonTo crazy for words

I'm not sure about the ghosts, but I do know a lot of folks are taking a powder or something lately. A month ago, it was standard to average deleting 2 pages of wishes per day either due to ghosting, draining, or inactive for 2 days. Around two weeks ago, i noticed a huge bump in this when my average went up to around 5 or 6 pages of pets being deleted per day. These were not all freshly run pets....many were older pets that had been playing for quite a long time. I know many return to the game in time....i did several times. But this is not a very favorable rate of folks leaving the game. When I can go to almost any run and try to put a wish on new owners and discover I already have a wish on everyone not a NB...I discover how small the world of Pets is really getting.

  • Happy New Year and help Please!!! IPOD 4th GEN won't Synch??

    Hello,
And, thanks for reading my question. I recently purchased an IPOD 4th GEN touch from Gamestop. I previously had an ipod that was stolen a few years ago. I had 2000 songs on my itunes and just haven't used it till now.
When I bought the IPOD I ensured that my itunes and ipod were using the most current software. However, it is not synching my music. It will let me start to synch and then go through steps 1&2 of a five step process before it tells me that itunes has encountered a problem and must shut down. There is no specific code it gives me it just asks whether I'd like to send an error report or not.
I have ensured my firewall was off. I restarted the IPOD and computer, and still nothing. Same error message and itunes shuts off. I have installed the latest updates to bonjour and quicktime, restarted, and still no remedy.
I was tempted to uninstall everything but am afraid of losing my music. Only 30-40 songs are in my icloud. I imported the other songs to itunes a long time ago.
Does anyone know how I can get these songs on my ipod? Thanks in advance for any help and Happy New Year to all...

You probably need to set up automatic syncing.  If you do not set it up, it will still "sync" but it will sync nothing.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod so that you see its Summary settings screen (click the "device button" on horizontal bar).  In the iPod's sidebar, under Settings, click Music.  To the right is the iPod's Music settings screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync your iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  This enables automatic syncing for songs.  Below that, if your entire iTunes library fits on your iPod, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library.
Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select what you want to sync from the lists below.  On convenient way to set this up is to create one or more playlists in your iTunes library with songs just for the iPod.  Or you can use existing playlists.  On the iPod's Music settings screen, find and select (checkmark) just those playlists under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your iPod with your selection(s) on the iPod's Music settings screen, and keeps it "in sync" automatically.

  • Happy New Year! Don't forget to update your copyright

Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you & your loved ones are happy & healthy.
Just a reminder to update any IPTC metadata templates you might be using. I'm using PSE 3 on a Mac, and I use the File Browser to apply an IPTC copyright notice to every image I take. (Hey, I might be famous some day. ;-) )
If you do something like that, don't forget to change your copyright notice to 2006 as of any photos taken today.

    Tom:
Or just "dhá mhíle a sé" ("two thousand six" in Irish). Let's hope the coming year is dog-gone funny, rather than dog-eat-dog.
    Barbara:
Well, Santa sent a raincheck. :-) That's the bad news. The good news is that the lens is back-ordered because it's Sigma's latest and greatest DG model that's "optimized" for digital SLRs. It's supposed to have a coating on the rear of the lens to reduce reflections from the sensor. So I'd rather wait and get the newest lens.
I did get some interesting photos of water skiers and war protesters with another lens, though.

Merry is the glad word, marry is when you match and wed people (or ideas).
Craig has suggested on his "off line" station gathering pictures of winter and celebrations.
In fact he's running a [video contest |http://www.kyte.tv/ch/72385-friday-morning-report/292138-florida-winter]so folks can share their winters.
One of our community members shared a knowledge nugget with me in Twitter: "that my own holiday, Channukah, has some traditions like Diwali (burning an oil lamp)" for example.
This year was the first time in my life that we did that (rather than just light candles which we did as well).
I like this [picture|http://www.flickr.com/photos/marilynpratt/3131272327/] that has our neighbors Christmas lights blended with our own Channukah oil lamp.
It reminds me of the best things community can be: sharing, lightness, illumination.
Marrying (blending) to make merry (happy) is what our diverse community is all about.
Happy Holidays and a good season.
Thanks to everyone who generously wish these things regardless of where in the world they are and what they celebrate.
    We salute you.

Yes the Mac can read that drive but you would need to Copy the data off of it to the Mac as apposed to Move, which implies Deleting them from the drive as they were transferred from the external to the Mac. Since the Mac can Not Write to NTFS drives it can't Delete anything as that is really a Write operation, IE Making changes to the NTFS formatted drive.
Once you have that Data on Both your New Mac and you Older Windows PC you can format that drive to work on both system.
If you want to and plan on doing that post back and I'll explane how, it is simple but should be done on a Windows PC.
If you only plan on using it on the Mac from now on that is fairly simple also and is done on the Mac, Once you have the files from it stored on the Mac.
Yes you could burn those photos to DVD but that is just a waste of DVDs, you don't need to.
