Just a fee iOS 7 questions
When closing an app that is in a folder-I get the folder, not the home screen. What is the web site to suggest to Apple that closing an app goes back to the home screen?
Auto app updates-how so we know when an app updates and what is in the update? How much battery does this feature use?
The background animation on the home screen-can't find I'm settings how to turn this off.

Not sure about the auto-update feature yet as haven't used it however I believe you can turn this off - I think I may do this as I like to see what is being updated and what new features are.
Background animation can be turned off here: Settings->Accessibility->Reduce Motion and turn this on.

I just upgraded to iOS 7. over by 1.58 Gb
I just upgraded to iOS 7. when it first restarted iTunes said I was over by 1.58 Gb. As soon as I unchecked one playlist that is about 500 Mb it said I had 1.5 Gb of room. I then sync'd my iPhone 4S. undocked from the computer and then plug it back in. I then attempted to add the 500mb playlist back on the iPhone and once again I was 1.5 Gb over capacity. After unchecking the playlist I resync'd my phone undcok it restarted it andthen plug it back in. This time I tried to add one album of pictures consisting of 30 from iPhoto. Once again I was over by 1.5 Gb. I then tried an album from iPhoto that had four pictures. And I was over by 1.5 Gb. i have 1.5Gb of room untill I try to add anything, It appears to me to be a problem with iOS 7. anyone else have this problem?
I would love an answer to this question! This used to happen to me with iOS 6, I finally figured out how to get the stupid thing to stop doing that without a full restore, but now it's doing it again with iOS 7 and the old tricks don't work! I'm in the middle of a 7,000 mile road trip, so I'm a little more than angry that I no longer have any music on my iPod because it thinks it's over capacity by 15GB. Talk to anyone who might be tech-savvy enough to help and they assume it must be user-error and patronizingly explain what the "Other" category is, professing that the device couldn't possibly be wrong.

Simple IOS questions: Debug, Release, Distribution
IOS question:
Can someone explain what the different build settigs are, and also what certificates/code-signing is needed for each, and whether I can set the signing rules for Debug, Release and Distribution, and be able to build whatever I need without having to change them.

What is the proper setting for the code-signing for each of Debug, Release, Distribution?
(What I have done in the past is just set them all to the Team provisioning when building for local users, and the Distribution provisioning when I need to do a distribution. It seems to me that I ought to be able to set the proper provisioning certificates for all 3 settings and never have to change them because it should use the correct one for each type of build, Right?) So, how to anser #2?

Still reading through things, skimming the parts I know and reading about features I've never used.
It's a Duh moment for Release vs. Debug.... just stripping symbols, oh yeah.
However, still no clear answer about #2.... should I be able to set the provisioning certs once, and never have to touch them again? Especially now, with the Archive pane in the Organizer window, and using the Archive pane to submit for distribution, it asks about code signing again. It's not clear to me why I'm selecting these things in 3 separate places. So, I'd like to know if setting it once, such as below, works well or do I need to change them for each build?
Or can I just use the Share (for local builds) and Submit (for Distribution) once this is all set Once and for all? -

I had the same problem. After numerous attemps to Restore from Itunes, I decided to use the "Setup as New Ipad" option. It went through a few question on new setups. Afterwards all my apps, data, photo's were still intact. Which shows that the Restore from Itunes worked. There must be a small bug that prevents the Ipad to open after "Restore from Itunes" . Hope it will help you.

The four members of my family just upgraded to iOS 7 last night. We now find that we are receiving each other's text messages. It's possible that during the installs, a few members may not have "unckecked" the multiple phone numbers they can be reached on. I know that I had to uncheck my husbands work mobile number and work email address as they came up as choices for contacting me. So now I am receiving some of my daughter's text messages on my phone - she's not impressed! My husband is receiving my texts etc... It's a mess! I appreciate any help anyone can offer!
I had this problem last night as well. Only my daughter upgraded to iOS7 and she had an old phone of mine. When she upgraded, the phone asked for my apple ID and then continued as normal. However, after the upgrade, any text message that I recieved, she also recieved. I am pretty sure my wife thought I was hammered when she started texting me and my daughter began answering her not having any clue what she was texting about. Anyway, this only occurred with texts from other family members, not from texts I received from friends who are obviously not on our account (we have Verizon BTW). To resolve this issue, and it isn't a short resolution.... there are two options... One, simply erase everyting on the phone.... I don't like iTunes 11, so we were unable to back up her phone. I made her go through her 600 photos, delete the ones she didn't want and email the ones she wanted to herself, and then we wiped the phone clean and rebooted it... go into Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings. The second option, if you have iTunes 11 is to back up the phones one at a time, and then go into Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings. Either of these options wipes the phone clean of all information, text contacts pictures etc and then you have to re-enter all of your individual information. When you do that, make sure that no one is on the same iTunes account. Theoretically, after you do this, you plug back into your computer and SYNC your phone from the last back-up. This resolved the problem for us. I don't know if there is an easier solution, be we tried logging in and out of our iTunes Accounts, turning the power on and off, and nothing changed. So, we had to go the more difficult route to avoid mass confusion with family texting.

Hi, I am just after downloading ios 5 to my iphone but now the apps on my phone won't work, even the free ones. Have tried deleting and reinstalling but it asks for credit card details even for the free apps. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks
If it is asking for account details then it might just need you to confirm your account before it lets you proceed. Maybe the terms and conditions changed since last time or something like that. Try signing into your Apple account in iTunes on a computer first to check that. Then restart the phone and try again.

I just update to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4s. The calendars on my iPhone are not keeping the information on the days that should be marked. The info is there in my iCloud on my computer, just not on my phone. Has anyone else had the same problem and what can I do about it? Is it at bug in the iOS 7 update?
What do you mean by "on the days that should be marked"? Are you calendar events displayed on the wrong days?

Just updated to IOS 7 and two issues:
First when I connect my iPhone to my computer I get this error message:itunes was unable to provider data from sync services". I'm not sure what this really means...
The second issue is when I try to select "Manually Manage Music"
The iPhone "My iPhone" is synced with another iTunes libary on "MY-PC". Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."
So... I don't want to do that, but I do what to be able to Manage my music. I'm not sure what it means by being synced to another iTunes unless it means to an older version of itunes?
Anyone have any ideas?I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. I just updated my IOS to 7.1 and now I can't open Microsoft attachments - I used to always do it. Help - I use my iPad for work and now can't see any attachments. I've tried opening straight into other apps and just get error messages, and I the mail preview there is just a grey screen telling me the file name and size. It worked fine until I did the IOS upgrade

I just updated to iOS 8 on my iPad 2 and due to a unforeseen error on iTunes I had to do factory reset. I was using my friend's iMac iTunes to download and update, instead of OTA. Now I'm unable to see my previously purchased apps (some even discontinued that I was hanging on to as they still kind of worked)... Even after I logged into App store on my iPad (tried restoring iCloud and iTunes but no luck, somehow there isn't any backup)! I checked my App Store updates/purchases and see nothing. A forum suggested I try buying it anyway and it will say I already have it and not double charge, but I don't want to take that chance as most of these apps are over $4. I have receipts for all my purchases. Please help!
When you do an update via a computer's iTunes the update process will backup the device (a backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their content/settings), wipe the device, install the update, and then restore the backup - the restore would look to pick up your apps, music, films etc from the iTunes library.
You've tried logging out (tap on your id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app) and back in and seeing if they then show in the Purchased tab, and you could also check to see if the apps are hidden from Purchased : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.
If an app is no longer in the store then you won't be able to redownload it. You haven't got copies of your apps in your own computer's iTunes library and/or on your backup of your downloads/library ? -
On Ibooks Author, my programmed image for the Chapter page no longer shows up on new pages, just appears as a question mark inside a box, How do I fix this? Please help, its the same when I try and copy and paste the same image within Ibooks author.

You may have moved or removed content on your page or its possible you used the"Adjust Image" and over sharpeed one or more images.
I assume you mean it does not show up of new Chapter pages... have you checked the template?
Where you see the ? you need to either reduce teh box outline size - or drop anther copy of the original image onto it, it may fill the ? box or sit on top.... delete the ? box.
If its Chapter page only related, its better doing this in the template.
Is you image .jpg or .png? -

Group messaging simply puts all replies in one conversation in Messages. It doesn't prevent the behavior you experienced.
My suggestion which would be much easier in my opinion, is rather than do a text, send out an email and use bcc: , which will keep the audience hidden from each recipient.
Otherwise, if you're determinted to do only texts, the only way is to send your message to one person at a time. You can of course copy/paste your msg each time which might be helpful.
