What does In/out of holster mean!?
and why is sometimes, my screen lovely and bright, but normally dull!?!?!? then randomly it will go very bright!

When you purchased your BB, it should have come with a leather type holster, in which there is a magnet that will shut down the screen of the BB when it is inserted in the holster, to cause a Standby condition of the BlackBerry.
So, you can set thet Profile settings of your BB to act different IN holster and OUT of holster. Say, IN your holster on your hip, you might want VERY LOUD volume ringtone settings, and OUT of the holster when sitting on your desk, you might set quieter volume for the ringtones.

You have to create a set of recovery disks from the hidden recovery partition by using the Recovery Disk Creator. Go to "Start - All Programs - Toshiba - Recovery - Recovery Disk Creator". Information on using the Hard Drive Based Recovery Process and creating the disks normally begins on or about page 58 to 60 of your User's Guide. The User's Guide is found on your hard drive in Adobe Acrobat Format and can be downloaded from the Product Support Link at the top of this page.
If you didn't make them and can not do so now you'll need to purchase a replacement set as per this post.

HT1414 IPHONE 3GS Problems. Updated to IOS6 then says There are just a few more steps to take. Press Continue. Once pressed it says connect to itunes. So plugged the cable in and it does nothing and stays on that screen. How can he fix it?

Hi, My friend has just updated there 3GS to IOS6 and once it's done, 2 screens appear. first one says, Update complete, there are just a few more steps to take. Press continue and another screen comes up with the itunes symbol and the cable and says connect to itunes. Once plugged in, on itunes it reconises the phone and has the loading symbol up, but it doesn't loads anything and can't press anything. Anyone know why and how to resolve this?

hi guys, just had a few small questions incase any of u can shed some light on the subject
1 - i have removed my Sound Blaster Audigy and i am now able to reach 2.5GHz easily, when the audigy was installed, i could never get over 2.4Ghz, why?
2 - i have increased my vcore to 1.7 yet am experience lower idle temps with c'n'q enabled eg...2.4GHz @ 1.55v would idle at 29c.....2.5GHz @ 1.7vcore idles at 23c, how?
3 - moving my ballistix ram into dimm slot 3 i am now able to go 1:1 to 228 htt at timings 2.5,2,2,10 easily...when the ram was in dimm slot 1 i couldnt go 1:1 over 200 htt, why?

NetStream.send() should usually be faster than NetGroup.post(), especially when using 1:1 NetStreams (vs Group NetStreams).
when groups are large, there's no passive way to tell when members join or leave. however, for small groups (less than about 15 members), they will be "fully meshed", meaning every member has a direct connection to every other member. when that's the case, you can see the NetGroup.Neighbor.Connect/Disconnect events on a NetGroup. to receive those, you must create a NetGroup with the same groupspec as your NetStream and listen for NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS events.
your function "msg" must be a method on the subscribing NetStream's "client" object to receive NetStream.send()s from the publisher.
this is all generic ActionScript stuff. i don't know how to use Flash CS5 but this stuff should all be the same in Flash and Flash Builder.

Ive strolled through just about every post in rebuilding section for the most recent 20 pages and must say, everyone here is absolutely glorious. However I have a few questions about my own personal roadmap if anyone could provide insight Im not a complete noob but so far Ive just been reading, taken no action except paying full without getting anything. I have a ClosedOut account with CITI, should be paid in full today or tommorow or whenever the check clears. CAgency was working I assume on behalf of CITI because both checks were made for full amount to CITI and balance was the balance. I had perfect payment for 2.5 years, the was delinquent for 8 months, paid in full 4.1k in two installments. When is it not greedy to ask CITI for some love and peace and kindness with a GW letter? I have valid reason as to why I stopped (2 car accidents april, july) and why I paid them back (accident settlement)How likely are they to help me out? I can provide them anything their heart desires with regards to documentation - medical, college, police reports, absolutely anything. I was making maybe $300 a month during that time and literally borrowed $33 from my neighbor to buy gas. Paying them seemed so huge at the time I just closed my eyes.I also have a natural gas account on my report that is negative in this manner: JUL-OK__AUG-OK__SEPT-ND__OCT-120Is this possible to be real? 120 is 4 monthsIf I still dont believe you, who do I call first, gas company or experian?If I call gas company, do I say youre wrong give me statements or do I nicely ask them to change it off the bat without disputingIf they give me statements and they are in fact wrong, do I call back or write a letter? Just a few beginner questions

Hello, i'm interested in getting the creative cloud membership, but i just had a few questions to ask:
1. Can i take advantage of the ecommerce features of BC without publishing to BC? (ie publishing to godaddy with their storage level support)
2. if not, if i choose not to renew my subscription, will my client lose their site? or more importantly, what happens to their sites in general if i do?
3. What if a client wants to update to another level of the service?

1) No you cannot run eCommerce module outside of BC. You can only point your domain externally to like GoDaddy but you'll still need to point DNS back to BC "external DNS". - http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/157/bc_157.html
2) Client will not lose their site as long as their invoice is up to date and paid. You clients can be billed directly by you or BC.
3) I believe you mean if the client wants to upgrade to another plan, etc which they can just submit request to our accounts team.

Aperture Newbee - Just a few random questions.

I'm thinking about buying a new macbook pro 17" and Aperture. I've played around with it at an apple store and its awsome in my opinion.
My questions are, will a Canon S1 IS work with Aperture?
My second question is can I import my iPhoto library in to Aperture?

Hi Paul,
Yes you are quite right about this, but it's not the full story. Aperture does get its support for RAW from the OS (CoreImage). That's the engine, and it seems to parse most of its work out to the GUI (despite my 4 x G5 horses sitting around doing nothing). However, the parameters driving the REQUIRED conversion of RAW to visual image for the SPECIFIC CAMERA are held in RAW.PLIST. I tried to edit this for my own point-n-shoot (Canon Powershot s40), and failed to get a good image. Every camera apparently needs different param. values based on the physical sensor array, pixel sensitivity, and conversion of signal to chroma color, etc.
My prime cameras are covered (Canon 20d).
I've tried in vain to find where iPhoto keeps its RAW parameters, as it must do this camera specific conversion also. Whether it does it on CPU or GPU (my guess is CPU), the camera specific parameters to decode the camera's proprietary RAW are still required. (BTW, DNG does not help, as the data held is still camera specific even though the format is universal. Pathetic really isn't it?) However, it does explain why many have commented on the far better RAW conversion in AP vs.iPhoto, even when AP was at 1.0 (more time by the developers balancing params between color saturation and luminosity perhaps as they focused on fewer cameras???).
So my questions to Aperture Development and Joe is this:
- WHY can't you at LEAST give us iPhoto level support vs. no support, and
- WHY do we have to await an update of the OS, when the parameters are externalized in RAW.PLIST and that could be updated at any time?
- What am I missing other than time available/testing needs etc.? Surely you must desire to get these complaints put behind you?

Video Networking - just a few minor questions!

I have a monster dual core mega PC that i just bought, it's awesome and I love it dearly, but my 2 girl room-mates both have Macs! one - an ibook G4, and the other - a powerbook G4.
I have created a folder on my computer called Video and in it i put loads and loads of TV shows and movies for them to watch. I can get their computers connected easily and even copy / play the files, but I do have a few questions...
1. After I initiate the share on the macs, there is a cool "Videos" icon on the desktop that links it to my computer, but whenever they restart, that icon disappears! how do I get it to stay??
2. Mac has really crappy support for Divx and Xvid, I tried downloading Divx player but it doesn't work well and doesn't give that many options (like buffer control, which is very important when viewing within a network, do you guys recommend another video player other than quicktime and divx player? on the PC I use BS Player or TCPMP, anything like that for the mac?
3. how do I make mac always open an extension with the same program? right click (or ctrl click) and choose - Open with, and than tell it - Always open with the same program, but it just saves it for THAT SPECIFIC FILE and not the extension. And I can't even do that on the network folders since they dont have write access, only read.

1. When the share is connected, click on the icon on the Desktop and hit Command-L. This will create an alias, or shortcut to the share. Drag this shortcut anywhere thats convenient for you. Double-clicking on the shortcut will mount the share if it is not already mounted. You can add it to the sidebar in the Finder for quick access.
2. Have you tried looking into a program called Video Lan Client? It handles a wide number of formats, and it streams over a network fairly well in my own experience.
3. Highlight a file with the extension whose application association you wish to change. Hit Command-I to get an information window on that file. Down towards the bottom of the information window is a section called "Open With:". It has a pop-up menu that lists the applications you have installed that have registered with Launch Services as a viable means of opening that file. Choose the application that you want to be the default, and then click the button "Change All..." to associate every file with that extension.

In the creating covery discs information that I downloaded from HP's website, it states"if you are prompted for an Administrator password, type the password or providide confirmation.
How do I create an adminstrator password? The only areas where I have created passwords on the laptop are the Login Screen/Signing In to PC, Mirosoft Account and Computers Description. How do I provide confirmation?
Disconnecting from the internet. After the login screen and go to the start menu I'm not connected to the internet. Correct?
Do I have to disconnect exterior equipment from the laptop before creating recovery discs?
During the creating process, if it should stop or ,get a message something is wrong, what do I do?

You aren't likely to be asked for Admin password unless you are using a User account created with Limited permissions-such as one would set up for another user on their machine.Some people share a machine with kids,teens and setup a Limited account for them.
I have never really worried about disconnecting from Internet -just don't have Internet Explorer or Email app open and active on internet.You could always turn off the Wireless I guess. Usually the F12 key in top row turns wieless off/on by tapping. White light=On.
If you run into a problem...just post that problem if the Recovery Manager doesn't give details of what you need to do to correct it. You can always phone HP and request Recovery Media if the process fails for you.
Just try to stop worrying and over-thinking it.Go for it!

A few more questions about batteries

Hi folks, new here.
1. According to www.apple.com/batteries, we don't have to worry about this Nickel-based batteries stuff when charging (cause iPods are Lithium-based). If so, do I really need to charge for 4 hours the first time? Why?
2. I've had to reboot my computer the first time Shuffle was charging, meaning the charge has been interrupted a few times. Does this affect my battery life?
3. After 2 hours of first charge, the front light turned green. One minute later, I've had to reboot again. After that, the front light turned back to solid amber, only turning green again 1.5 hour later. Can someone please explain that?

I am not really sure about first-time charge. Mine was interrupt when charged at the first time too, and nothing seems wrong up to date.
Lithium-ion batteries can be charged at anytime, on any duration. It does not matter if you charge it only 5 minutes, then use it for some hours, and charge again. You can safely reboot your computer while charging.
When you plug-in iPod again (ie. reboot your computer) after it was fully charged, it is normal that it would continue to charge for an hour or so even it's just been fully charged. See a chart in www.apple.com/batteries. It tells you that it takes long time to fully charge the battery when the battery itself is almost full already.

I have a few questions about how garageband works...
Do you have the ability to record multiple tracks at the same time using firewire and keep them as separate tracks?
Can you then play back those tracks all at once and simultaneously record another track?
As stated, I would be using firewire to record and the headphones jack for monitoring.

HT201210 I have loaded IOS 6 but when it says I have just a few more steps to complete and asks me to sign in with my apple id, it says it cannot connect to server.   Now my ipad won't function at all and it is completely stuck even after turning it off a

I was having trouble purchasing candy crush updates (for no apparent reason, as it has been fine previously).   I thought perhpas I needed to download some new software and promptly started the IOS 6 update.   It installed and then asked me to complete the final few steps by signing in with my apple id.   When I try to do that it says "it cannot connect to the server".   I have tried turing it off and on and over riding it, but it won't let me do anything at all now on my ipad mini.
Can anyone help?   I literally can't function!!!!

You can't override it no matter what you do. The device has to connect to the server to complete the iOS update. You could try rebooting the iPad and see if that lets you connect to the server after it starts up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that will not work, you can try connecting to iTunes on your computer and see if the activation will complete. Sometimes when thes activation issues arise, you end up having to restore the device again, but first things first. Reboot and see what happens.

A few more questions on upgrading OS

Well, I'm trying to be proactive before I try to upgrade my current mini from tiger to snow leopard os.
So far, I've
purchased the box set
purchased the external hard drive
downloaded carbon copy app
learned how to do a back up and reboot and run from it to ensure it's all there before installing new os
What I don't know is:
What do I do after Snow Leopard is on the mini, but all my old data is on the external hard drive?
I want to go into this whole process with my eyes wide open!

I assumed I'd be backing up my entire hard drive - in other words everything. The only external things I have would probably be downloaded games. Other than that it's Office, iphoto, iweb, itunes that came on the computer when I bought it in 96.
Just wondering how I get my old iphoto library into the new iphoto library, is it just a click and drag? or after installing new os will it prompt me for this kind of data transfer?
I assumed I'd be emptying the hard drive after the install. Hadn't planned on continually pulling from it.
