***Just a little audio clarification....

Question

(1) If I have one track of audio (A1) in my project, and both bars bounce in my audio level meter, this is stereo, correct?
(2) If it is stereo, what is it when I make a copy of it and put it on (A2) and then make those a pair? Is this somehow double stereo?
(3) If I have two tracks of mono audio (A1 and A2), but I don't make them a pair, is this dual-mono?
(4) If I make them a pair, are they now stereo?

The number of audio tracks in a project is unrelated to the output channels of the project. By default, FCP always outputs stereo audio. That means it takes any of the numerous tracks you have in the timeline and determines based on the way they are panned whether the audio goes to the left or the right channel. If a single audio track is panned to the center, it outputs the same thing to the left and right channels. If two identical audio tracks are panned to the center, it outputs the same thing to the left and right channels. A stereo pair is just a convenient way to keep two audio tracks connected, one generally holding the left-channel audio, and one the right-channel. However, you can pan a stereo pair to the center and they will then output the same thing to the left and right channels.
You could have dozens of audio tracks in a project, but still only output to left and right channels. Having 6 tracks of audio in the timeline does not equal 5.1 surround sound.
