Just a scenario

Hi All,
This is just a scenario.. I have 3 redo groups which are not multiplexed (I know its a bad idea), and suddenly due to some OS issues one of my redo gets corrupted, my backups policy involves hot backup for datafiles and also backups of my archives and my control files?
How to go ahead in this scenario so that my database can be put in open mode again?
Again, its just a scenario, but any ideas or any tips to forward in this situation would be really helpful from you guys

If you lose a complete online log group, it can have three possible states:
1. CURRENT (LGWR writes into it)
2. ACTIVE (still needed for instance recovery)
3. INACTIVE (you are lucky)
In 1. and 2., you need to do an incomplety recovery in order to make your database consistent again. You will lose all transactions that had their redo protocol in the lost group. That is why it is strongly recommend to mirror log groups.
In 3., you can recreate the logfile or even drop it (if you have 3 groups). In case that log group was not archived yet, you need to take a backup of your database then. You will suffer no data loss here.

Don't bother with the solution for scenario export, just export the scenarios ndividually and import them to your execution repository

File Subscription through Message scenario

Hi - I have a scenario where I receive 2 different files, type A (many files )and File B(many files) bunch of files in same folder.
By using just messaging scenario, how can I subscribe the messages and process and drop file type A in 1 folder and file type B in other folder.

Create and deploy schemas for Type-A and Type-B
Use XML-Receive pipeline in the Receive location where you receive these type messages
In Send port, set the filter based on BTS.MessageType. i,e, Create a send port for Folder1, and set its filter for BTS.MessageType == "YourTypeASchemaNameSpace#rootelement", Create another send port for Folder2, and set its filter for BTS.MessageType

Scenario: Insert update delete into a 3 billion target from a 2 billion source

Both target(3 billion rows) and source (2 billion rows) are SQL server tables partitioned by "Year-month". Now I want Insert update delete from source to target. This is just a scenario that I was thinking about. I was thinking about the best approach
for the load.
With my little knowledge I would write a stored procedure with Merge statement but given the large amount of data will that be the best solution?

You need to find out how much data from what dates you need to operate on.
Is it a data sync endeavor?
A few tips: forget about the Lookup, too slow, and the Cache Transform will be a burden.
I would go with the T-SQL MERGE, but may want to do it in chunks, e.g. limit to date ranges.

ODI Export Scenario, only main?

Hi,
i learned in forums that in order to move my ODI project to production i need only to export my main package/scenario.
However, my main package calls others packages/scenarios, thus, it requires me to export these sub-scenarios for the production environment.
Can you please confirm if i can export solely the main Scenario to production?
Otherwise i would have to export all scenarios and would be harder to maintain.

Hi,
If your main package only contains Interfaces / Proceedures etc then its ok with just this scenario (as the main scenario contains the comiled code), if however you make a call to another sub-scenario from your main , then you need to move these scenarios along with the main (otherwise you will get 'scenario not found' error)

IMac loudly whirs and freezes. please help!

I have a 27" iMac purchased November 2009. Have tried searching discussions for help but am unsure what to call the problem as it is so peculiar!
Several times an hour it makes a strange loud whirring noise (which does not appear to be a fan to me as it is not a smooth sound, sounds more like a hard drive 'thinking' possibly?? but I have no idea) and freezes until the noise stops (which generally takes anywhere between 10-30 seconds). Very frustrating as it interupts my workflow and all I can do is wait it out. It does not seem to matter how many/which applications are running. it happens when i have creative suite open but then it also happens if all i have open is chrome!
It is within warranty, however I have no time to take it to be fixed until November as I can't be without it until then, so am hoping someone will have a suggestion to help me out!
I don't know what other information would be helpful, but just in case, it has 4GB of RAM and has a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and still has about 775GB of hard drive space free.
would doing a fresh install of my OS help?
any advice you can give me would be appreciated! or point me towards an existing discussion (all i could find were people describing their whirring noise as a buzzing, and mine is definitely not buzzing)

My first thought would be the hard drive, you may not have time to get it check out until November
but think about what you might loose if you don't. Just have a great backup plan for a just
incase scenario
If its not a harddrive, what ever you have going on is not good, as your aware of, you need to
reevaluate and think about if you lost what you have verses not having access to your files.
I assume you have contacted Apple support on the phone, to see what they might have to say

How to Set Automatic to turn on and off at specified time my TV with STB

It seems very frustrating talking with Verizon tech support, that's why I turn to you guys to find if anyone knows the answer to my question above.,from my experience calling verizon for my tech support regarding fiosTV and most of my experience from Verizon are either inept and giving the customer the run around by keeping you on hold for the longest and not having the answer after all the time I spend with the tech on the phone or they will tell you that the that there is no such thing; and when you call again when you get another tech on the phone you get completely different answer if not an inept answer.
My Specific question is, if I turned off my STB (top box) and my TV at a particular time; and I like my TV with STB to turn on at a specified time ( example I turned off my STB and TV at 9:00 PM ) and would like my TV with the STB to be turn on like 11:00 PM to turn off at 12:00 midnight by itself, not to record but just to turn on as reminder and to serve as power saver incase I fall asleep ( this is just example scenario). How would I do that? The manual of either remote control or the STB does not provide that information. My television manual say the TV can but I can not turn it on automatically with the STB connected.
I called Verizon tech, he first sounded inept and sounded like he just talking from a scripted lines, and would not tell me straight forward that he does not know the answer; I explained that I switched to Verizon Fios for its claim in high and advance technology as they compare themselves by far higher in technology as compared with Cable or direct TV, and with Cable Vision I was able to used the above automatic turn on and off with the remote; I asked for his supervisor or maybe more expert tech support, He turned over the call to his supervisor, who told me that the STB or the remote Fios TV does not have that level of capability which sounded to me like a joke, he also told me that the STB can not be turn on and off because STB is always set as on; I told him I can see the green light turns on and off on the STB each time I press the ON button on the Verizon Remote; he defended that its always on because the timer is ON, and he told me instead FIOSTV has another feature that although it will not turn the feature on and off automatically, it will serve as reminder, I asked him How to carry out that function, the tech supervisor said to me to just press the record button on my remote, which I know right away that it will just record, and I told him that its not what I want to accomplish, this Tech Supervisor insisted that it will not record but will set to notify me, but surely it did record and it just wasted and used my DVR memory capacity the time when he put me on hold for a long period of time, I knew it recorded because the red button on the STB/TVR was on., and it did not notify me in anyway what time the TV and STB will turn on. That was a complete waste of time, instead of him getting the issue to higher level of their tech support and try to research thru and get back to the client. To me, simple feature as this, is such absurd to claim that fiosTV has more advance features than others, where infact they can not even have their tech support answer such simple question.
Any one here has any idea, please help.

The set top box does not offer any auto on or auto off feature.
you can only do that if your TV offers the feature.
If neither your TV nor the STB offer that feature (in this case the stb does not offer) then you can go to a radio shack or a similiar store and purchase a AC timer. they make them and you plug them into your wall, they are very cheap.
I have had directv and fios and neither of my systems did an automatic on or off.
BUT my samsung TV upstairs does have that feature (auto on and off) and I have not checked my mitsubishi downstairs.
so you may want to check your settings on your TV to see if it will do it, like my samsung does.

Reference to DataPlugin

I've recently created a Data Plugin script to parse a data file with a proprietary format. The script works fine for indexing and loading our data files. I'm currently working on another VBS script which is called by one of the function keys (i.e. F2) to reopen one of these data files. I've read the on-line DIAdem help and found that I could use the OpenFile function of (global) DataPlugin object. However I don't know how to reference to this global DataPlugin object. By the way, I'm currently using the free evaluation copy of DIAdem. Please help.

Hi Tien,
The "DataFinder parameter" is intended to cover just this scenario. If you go to your existing DataPlugin's profile in the "DataPlugin Settings" dialog in DIAdem, then select the "Properties" button and click on the little circle icon to open up the Advanced properties in the dialog, you'll see a "DataFinder parameter" checkbox at the bottom of the dialog. When you check this checkbox, the "ReadStore(File)" main subroutine in your DataPlugin gains a second (boolean) parameter. You can rename this second parameter to any variable name you wish. I usually use ReadStore(File, Indexing). Then in your DataPlugin code you can branch IF (Indexing) THEN to only read the header and IF NOT (Indexing) THEN to read the bulk values of the channels.

... and of course I have to add that this can be done with very few programming (but with that - with much more possibilities) by using a redirect "proxy iView", which is described in detail (and is taking just this scenario as one use case among others) on the slides of my TechEd presentation "Implementing Dynamic iView Properties", at least available for TechEd visitors now.
On the other hand, searching for "proxy iView" on SDN will return different results where at least I have described the basic idea.

File Receiver Comm Channel in error

I am getting below error in my receiver communication channel -
Transmitting the message to endpoint <local> using connection File_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Unable to clone File Adapter receiver channel for parallel processing
This is just FiletoFile scenario. I am trying to use VARIABLE SUBSTITUTION here to give dynamic name to the file at receiver. I haven't use FCC here.
If I dont use VARIABLE SUBSTITUTION then scenario is working fine.

Dynamic configuration bean in JMS Adapter

Hello Experts,
My scenario is JMS(Active MQ) to File.Its just Passthrough scenario and no mapping involved.
Filename will be coming in one of the JMS Property (say businessId) and I need to set this filename to file adapter.
I have refered the stefan's blog and used the Dynamic configuration bean module in sender JMS adapter.
getFilename key.1 write http://sap.com/xi/System/JMS DCJMSMessageProperty4
getFilename value.1 module.filename
setFilename key.1 read http://sap.com/xi/System/File FileName
setFilename value.1 module.filename
But required filename is not populated in the target File.Any other configuration is missing here?

Did you set the ASMA properties in both your sender JMS channel and receiver File channel?
For the JMS adapter, as shown below, you will need to enter the DCJMSMessageProperty4 into the table
Configuring the Sender JMS Adapter - Configuring the JMS Adapter in the Integration Directory/PCK - SAP Library
If you want to set additional JMS message attributes, select Specify Additional JMS Message Properties (Maximum of 10).
In the table, enter the names of the JMS message properties whose values are to be included in the message header of the PI message.
The technical names of the additional attributes are DCJMSMessageProperty0, DCJMSMessageProperty1, ..., DCJMSMessageProperty9.
For the File adapter, you need to check the ASMA FileName attribute.
Once you have this configured, in your message, you should be able to see that the value is in the DynamicConfiguration section of the SOAP header.

How to track changes in Start date

Hello Everyone,
Currently I am facing a new issue (requirement from management) that they want to track the activity start date change and generate a trend report on that so we cna display it to client that this many activities changed this times.
To give you the overview, currently we are working on Asset Renewal project where there is no fix scope it comes as per priority. And unfortunately priorities get changed as well.
So as an example originally we may have planned a particular activity on 04/08/14 acording to priority and then we get the new date and plan it again for 20/07/14 then we get our possession request knocked back and replan it to 20/08/14 then we encounter a problem from supplier and we replan it to 25/08/14. So this is just a scenario I have given but it changes say atleast 10 time before it gets executed.
So I know traditional way in primavera to capture the change is maintain baselines but that would not be applicable in my case as I have hundreds of sites in 1 program and they change as i explained above so is there any way I can track that changes in primavera or any other way available. i am really open for all suggestion including new softwares or exporting to Microsoft Excel.
I have tried my best to explain this situation but if you require any further info please let me know.

Pl take a look at the Std Report RPUAUD00 used for Infotype Logging. The Report Documnentation details the steps needed to turn the logging for the PA infotypes, which in your case could be 0167,0168,0169 etc..

Unable to load and run program in DDR from SDK

Hello all,
I'm starting to work with Zynq and I'm quite a noob in this field.
I generated a system for a ZC702 board in which the connections to the DDR memory and the GPIO are correct.
When I try to run a "Hello world" example that writes such words via serial, I'm facing the problem that I can just run it from the internal ram on the Zynq, not from the DDR. I will try to explain this with more detail.
When I set the on-chip memory (initial address is 0x00000000) on the linker script and I run the program, the XMD console shows this:

But the program is not run and the processor is like "blocked".
There is just one scenario in which this second configuration works, and it's when the on-chip memories were previously loaded with the first configuration. This could indicate that the program counter is not pointing to the DDR, but to the on-chip memory. Then, when I select the DDR, if there is nothing on the memories of the chip, it does not execute anything.
Does anyone have any idea of what's exactly happening and how to fix it?

Are you able to step through at all with the debugger to see if it gets stuck somewhere in particular?
As a test of DDR setup itself, what happens if you link to OCM but do some pointer access directly to DDR (maybe write 0xdeadbeef to 0x10000000, readback 0x10000000, then print it)? Does it work okay?

IPod Classic and iHome, alarm feature is not available!

yeah, the most important feature to the ihome (even the latest version, iH8) is not available with the new ipods. i know mine works because i used to have the 30gb video.
here are my troubleshooting specs:
scenario 1:
-set the alarm for a minute later than current time.
-set 'alarm 1' which is the ipod alarm. it is supposed to wake up the ipod and play music (whatever was on pause before shut down, or plays the first song).
-when alarms wakes, it merely wakes up the ipod, but does not play music.
-it does seem to try to play the music, since the backlight comes on. it also says 'now playing' at the top status bar. it stays in the menu, has the name of the song and album artwork on the right (new menu style), but still does not play the music. luckily, ihome has a back up alarm for when it doesn't sense music and just beeps.
scenario 2:
-set alarm, and just paused it rather than powering down the ipod.
-it works! but remember the ipod shuts down automatically after a couple mins.
-scenario 3:
-set alarm on ihome AND ipod.
-hard to sync becaues times on ihome and ipod are off. if ihome doesn't sense the ipod's alarm in a couple seconds, it beeps.
solution anyone?
already did feedback to ipod. ihome is sold in apple stores, so both companies need to do some fixing. they need to let their associates know about this, very misleading.
help me out if you can.

I'm in the same boat as well. I have an IH5 and have experienced the same problems. Hopefully a firmware update from Apple will resolve this but my gut is telling me that we will need to purchase a new iHome model.
