Just Activated My Wife's iPhone...No Edge!!! Help!

The Edge network does not show up at all. There is perfect edge network in the area that we are in, when I had an iPhone it worked fine.
I do not know if this is of any help but, when the iphone is connected to our mac at the summary screen it lists the serial number, but not the phone number (my iphone listed the phone number as well).
Also, the VPN is not configured, does this have anything to do with it?

How long has it been since you activated?
Try resetting your phone by holding the sleep/wake button and the home button until you see the apple logo then let go.
As for your # full activaion could take up to 24 hrs so you might have to wait.

IPhone 4 Activation and Wifi issues... plz help!!!

Alright, I bought an iPhone 4 off ebay and it just arrived today. Initially, the wifi option was greyed out so i figured a restore might fix it, so I restored and updated to 6.1.2. Heres the problem... at the activation screen, wifi still wont work and so it tells me to connect to itunes, but when I do that it gives me an error saying "itunes cannot continue with activation at this time".
What do I do?! I cant return the iPhone now and i'm not sure if Apple will help me?

Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?
If the iPhone was sold as unlocked, start a complaint with eBay to
get your money back.
Apple will not help with jailbroken iPhones.

New to Apple - Need help. Here is the breakdown. I just got my wife a iPhone 4s and I'm trying to decide how to set it up. Should she get her own Apple ID or use mine? This for some reason is very confusing to me.

If she uses my Apple ID, will that cause issues with iMessage - say when I'm chatting with someone else and vice a versa. Will our messages show up on each others devices? How will a FaceTime call work? Will the video call come across both our devices (ipad also)?
Just some information that might be of note:
I have the new iPhone 4s, iPad2 and one iTunes account - the iTunes account is my Apple ID which I use also for the iCloud (I think...it's getting murky
What am I trying to achieve is having the ability for me (iphone, ipad) and my wife (iphone) to be able to share and sync just music, apps, movies, etc... I have Google Calender and I have not made up my mind yet if we will share a contacts list (I have large business list). Also this might be of note, I most likely will be using iTunes on my LG LCD TV (appleTV) at some point in the near future.
So, basically I'm confused, which is not unusual for me. If I'm thinking to much inside the box, please let me know and feel free to offer up any suggestions. Even if the suggestion is I'm not asking the right questions. Of course if that is your suggestion, then please tell me the question. And an answer would be nice to.

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

I am sick to my stomach. I just wiped my wife's iphone...and lost everything.

My wife has an iPhone 4. I brought it to the Mac Store a few weeks back and they hooked it up to my computer and copied her files to my harddrive. They told me that it would be the same to plug it into HER Macbook and copy her files over.
Today, when I plugged it in, the options were as follows:
1) set up new iphone. (it's not a new iphone)
2) The other option said to copy her iphone.
I asked myself..."if I am wrong, they will give me some sort of warning, right?"
Nope, I clicked the button and now my wife's entire phone is WIPED!
We have a new baby. There were about 600 pictures. There were about 100 videos. They are gone.
I feel like I am dreaming here. This doesn't seem real. I've heard of stories like this, but I figured the people were idiots. Did I really just lose all of these memories without any way to retreive them???? There is really no "are you sure" option? There is no "cancel" button?
This is like that commerical about the lost iphone with all the memories....except there are no getting them back.
Does ANYBODY HAVE GOOD news to come out of this for me? I am shaking here. This is horrible.

If you open iTunes on her computer, go to Preferences>Devices, do you see a backup listed? Is it from before you did this "wipe"? If so, you may be able to restore from that backup. However, if her computer saw the iPhone as a new device and you set it up as such, then it would have wiped over everything. Sorry about that.
What files did Apple copy over to your computer? What is still there? If you open iTunes on your computer, is there a backup of the phone from that date? Were all of these pictures and videos done before or after you were at Apple? Did they try and import the photos/videos to your computer?

All downloads from either app store or icloud keep on freezing. Have tried restart of wifi, ipad, iphone and nothing helps. What can i do?

I keep on getting download problems from both app store as well as from icloud.
I have tried to reinstall some programs but they keep on failing to download.
I have this problem for both my ipad 2 as well as my iphone 5. I currently live in italy and have checked whether i have problems with local router but everything checks out.
I have tried both resetting iphone and ipad, restarting them both etc but nothing helps. Do you know whether there are any issues with app store or icloud in the last 4days.

In case anyone is having the same problem, I thought I'd post an update. I realized there was an Apple store on my way home from the trip I was leaving for so I decided to stop in. I waited 20 minutes for the next Genius so I wandered the mall and played with the iPad. No big deal. It took less than ten minutes for the person helping me to confirm there was a problem and swap the iPhone for a new one and send me on my way. I got home, connected it to iTunes and restored from the last backup (after uploading the photos I'd taken since then to my Mobileme account!). No problem whatsoever.
I'm really glad I decided to go that route instead of taking it to Verizon.
It's been two months and I've not had a single problem since.

Now that we are set up on icloud settings, her phone is receiving my calendars, contacts, etc. she does not want and does not need any of these items on her phone. How can I separate the two now? is there a way to have a different login and password for her phone so that it sets up on its own icloud settings?

She should create her own Apple ID and start using it for everything, including purchasing.
It starts on the computer in iTunes. There are 2 elements we are dealing with;
purchasing items from iTunes (apps, music) and playing items in iTunes.
Only one Apple ID can be signed in at a time for purchasing. But you can "authorize" multiple Apple IDs for playing. As long as iTunes is "authorized" with both your Apple IDs, items purchased with these different accounts can coexhist in one iTunes Library.
Why this is important, it has to do with back up and being able to transfer purchased items to the computer.
Once your wife sets up her own account, she will want to connect the iPhone to the computer to back it up and transfer any new purchases, iTunes will need to be authorized for that to happen.
With that said, a new feature of iColud is back up. It will back up everything to the cloud. You need to turn it on, it's at the bottom of the iCloud settings on the iPhone. It is limited to 5GB for free, you can buy more. I used all 5GB my first back up, but I have a lot of crap, and there's a lot of things on the iPhone that get backed up that don't count against the 5GB, so it might be plenty of space for you.
When it comes to the iCloud and contacts/calendars, again your wife needs her own account. (ASAP) Does she have a computer in her life that has a list of her contacts and calendars. I hope so, because it sounds like her contacts on her iPhone are now mixed with yours. Or I hope there is still an untouched list of contacts on the iPhone that iCloud didn't mix. Either way Delete your iCloud account from her iPhone. Remove the data, as long as it isn't hers. This will delete all info being synced to the cloud. If she still has a list of her old contacts on the iPhone, great. If not, I hope she has them somewhere else, like her own computer.
Create her an iCloud account. Enter the account info where ever there is a list of contacts/calendars and get the info onto the cloud, then add the iCloud settings to any other devices.
Any new apps/music purchased with her account will back up to the cloud. I don't think apps purchased with your account will. She will also need to enter your password for updating these apps, because they were purchased with your account.

1. If you are really on iOS 7.1, you may wish to try upgrading to 8.1.2 which is the latest (basing this on your signature).
2. If updating the phone doesn't help, is this only when you connect to a specific wifi network? Or all wifi networks (including public with no password)? If it is ALL wifi networks, you may have a hardware problem. Genius bar would be the next step.

The find my iphone app has nothing to do with finding that iphone. The find my iphone app allows you to find your other idevices from your iphone.
The find my iphone feature ( which allows your iphone to be found) is an icloud feature that you would have set up on the iphone itself.
If you did not do this, then you cannot track your iphone at all.

You could try syncing the contacts with yahoo or google contacts, then sync them to the iPhone. Or, export the contacts and then import them into one of the aforementioned servicse, or iCloud, then sync to the phone.
