Just another data point on the Itunes/Win8 issue. My AppleTV, AppleRemote (in IP5), and Win7 machines all play well together. Sharing, control, etc all work fine. Alas, my Win8 desktop, running Itunes and sharing on, shows no sign of network life.

A bit more detail: AppleRemote controls AppleTV properly and sees the Win7 machine's shares. The Win8 desktop has updates installed for Itunes and all drivers. Itunes runs fine but does not share even though the computer is authorized and Sharing is turned on.
I have disabled the Windows Firewall and also disabled the MS Kernel Network Debugger. Neither AppleTV nor the AppleRemote App appear to be aware of the Win8 Itunes share at all.
Any suggestions or help are appreciated. From the looks of the posts, it appears that others are struggling with this one also.

I decided to keep my old 20" Core Duo iMac as a Server in the bedroom, and now use it as a television and PVR as well. I wouldn't have made much on eBay anyway.

    Ever since Firefox updated the last time, my games won't load on Pogo, I have to play them in Internet Explorer, they were working fine before.

    Mozilla are aware of the issue in Firefox 3.6.14 and are working on a fix, no timescale but they are planning on a quick release. Firefox 3.6.15 will fix the issue with some Java applets not working, which has caused many Pogo games to stop functioning.

    Hi, I was backing up my iPad 2 and it gave me an error message. Since then, my iPad has been dead or should I say, STUCK. The screen shows the iTunes image with an image of a USB cable under it with an arrow pointing towards the iTunes icon. I haven't been able to get it to unfreeze and when I connect it to iTunes, iTunes doesn't give me the option to Sync or Restore. It actually just goes into the iTunes Store section and I can't access the part I need. Please help! Thank You!!!!!

    You may need to put the iPad in recovery mode to restore it.

    I tried to update my 4s to the latest ios6. itunes came back and said there was an unexpected error. the screen on the phone is hung showing a usb cable and an arrow pointing to the itunes icon. itunes does not see the phone as being plugged into my computer. I restarted itunes, no difference. I can't seem to reset the phone. It comes up with the apple icon and then goes back to the usb plug screen. I'm totally hosed right now!!!

    This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
    If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
    Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
    Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
    Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
    The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
    If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

    my ipod touch is showing a usb pointing to the itunes logo on the screen and nothing else.  It won't switch on beyond that.  Please help!

    Sounds like your iPod is in restore mode. Connect it to iTunes. iTunes will pop a little message up saying that your iPod is in restore mode and asking you if you want to restore it, click yes. Your iPod will restore to factory settings and you will be given the chance to restore from a backup. You can do this or set it up as a new iPod.

    Well, that illustration is suggesting you plug your iPad into iTunes (current version: 11.0.2).
    Have you tried that?

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • My IPhone stopped working right after I did the most current update, yesterday.  The screen has a picture of the usb cord, pointing towards the ITunes logo. I cannot use the phone at all.  I have tried turning it off and on.ITunes won't recognize device
    Hi there,
    Can someone please help.  My IPhoneS stopped working right after I did the latest update which was yesterday.  Now, the phone does not work at all.  When turned on, the screen shows a picture of USB cable pointing to the ITunes logo.  I have tried just about everything, and cannot get it working. It's like it is frozon.  My ITunes does not recognize my device.  Cannot dial out either. I desperately need to get it working.  Can someone please help me.
    Thanking you in advance for your help.  :-)
    The update did not do anything.
    AT&T cannot and will not do anything, they do not provide support for iPhones, Apple does.
    The issue is not with the iPhone or iOS if you've reset network settings and tried forgetting the Wi-Fi Network, it is specific to the network.
    Check the settings on the router, try disabling the security settings first... that will clarify the issue is not with the device but rather the Network.
  • HT1430 I tried to upgrade to ios 4 by plugging my Ipad into Itunes on my desktop.  I got an error report and now my Ipad won't work at all.  I can only get a screen with a plug and an arrow pointing to the Itunes logo.
    I tried to upgrade to ios4 by plugging my Ipad into Itunes on my desktop.  I got an error message as it was downloading.  Now my Ipad won't turn on at all.  All I get is a pic of the plug and an arrow pointing to the Itunes logo.  I tried to reset, but nothing works.  When I try to plug the Ipad into my desktop and access Itunes, my Ipad doesn't show up on the Itunes screen.
    You need to restore your iPad using recovery mode and the process is covered in this article.
    my ipod touch is stuck on a screen showing a photo of the white plug with an arrow pointing to the itunes logo.  i can't get it to work.  how do i fix this?
    If still prpblem
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
    You could try restoring and staying away from that backup.  I've had that happen to me before on my iPhone 4 from a corrupt backup.  You could be coincidently mixing the two issues, sounds to me like you got lucky and your phone is A-OK but you may be using a corrupt backup.
