Just another wish list for X2xx

Dear Lenovo team,
since two years I am a proud possessor of a X220i (sadly I could not afford better back then). Since then I am actually quite enthusiastic regarding your products - or rather brand - using every chance for telling my friends to buy Thinkpads.
As a student, I think the X2xx-line is the best to get, since it has the ideal size and weight for carrying it around all day - literally, from one class to the next, not just from home to the workplace - while retaining a great deal of usablility and ergonomics (i.e. the x1 does not feel right while using it, I actually like how my palm rests exactly on the downcurve from "the Bento legacy" as I call the new lid design). Not too small or too big. Yes 14" is too big. Just the best thing for university.
Now having said all that, there is still things I wish to see for the next refresh of the X2xx-line:
1. Make the IPS panel available to all processor options. There is just no excuse for such a bad TN. (I will be able to afford a better processor - and thus IPS - next time, but it's sad for all the others who have to pay 250 more to even unlock the option for IPS) Also, could you find more screenspace within the existing size of the notebook?
2. Add Thunderbolt. Power plus 2 connectors, all at the very left side on the back. (I won't upgrade until X2xx has at least one port. Sorry.)
3. Remove the following things entirely:
- the HDD cage (instead make it possible to have a mSSD additionally to WWAN, or two while you are at it)
- the LAN connection
- the VGA and Displayport connection
- the analog jack
- the card reader (is btw. a weakspot for palmrest)
- the express card reader (see above)
4. Instead of the above utilise the daisy-chain technology of Thunderbolt to design smart adapter solutions. See end of post.
5. Make the following stuff optional when ordering:
- webcam (in some workspaces webcams are stricly forbidden)
- fingerprint-reader (there are people who do not trust those, why should they pay for it?)
- touchpad - yes I hate the touchpad, it is turned off yet still annoys the hell out of me - it is too small anyway
- RAM
- mSSD (also applies to RAM: people might want to choose what exactly they get)
... all with respective bezels if not ordered. RAM and mSSD slots need to be accessible without disassembly.
6. Add buttons to the ThinkVantage bar:
- wireless toggle (the design should basicly be the same, make sure it is not to be operated sideways but forward and backward)
- the ThinkLight toggle (I somehow always have papers in my left when trying to operate it)
- the screen brightness buttons (same, never enough hands to operate)
- the media buttons (forward, backward, play and pause)
7. Utilise both sides of the notebook for a more elaborate cooling solution, keep the back free of venting instead. Even with 3 USB connections on both sides under the palmrest there is at least double the space on the left and the same space on the right. Powerful cooling also may add better processor options?
8. Utilise the additional space in the back for a bigger battery. I suspect with the right placement of the Thunderbolt connectors, there should now be enough space for 1 additional cell (or two for the bigger one).
9. Make all ports coverable with a cover that is attached to the notebook somehow.
I realise that implementing all of my suggestions would make it much of a redisgn instead of a refresh, but I do believe it would benefit this line tremendously making it an even more powerful, lightweight, ergonomic and most of all adaptable plattform than it already is, even if removing many different ports seems to make it less so on first glance.
I personally would even go as far as removing the USB ports also, but then again it might be a bit silly to require an adapter for the industry's most widespread connection standard.
I can foresee that many will disagree with me on removing all these different connection possibilities and I would not suggest doing it, if we would loose the option to connect to such devices. Smart adapter solutions in combination with the daisy-chain technology within Thunderbolt will prevent actually loosing connectivity with LAN, VGA, Audio and Displayport, while retaining USB ports keeps solutions to read storage devices and most expresscard usability readily available to the user in a much more adaptable way. And the rest is covered by Thunderbolt itself anyway.
The viablility of removing the intefaces which I suggest, just depends on which adapter Lenovo ships the notebook with (some sort of display adapter and LAN adapter would have to be included, I guess) and what kind of pricing the rest of the adapters (and cables) will they be able to offer the customer and how those adapters are designed.
For example I would not want to have additional cable clutter on my desk by daisychaining my audio, LAN and VGA adapter with cables between each. On the other hand I prefer if the adapter I buy does not have unnessessary functionality. This is why I imagine some sort of push-fit system that creates a nice and clean strip when plugged together and has one piece to close off the end. Of course daisy-chaining a high-resolution display and an external raid for videocapturing purposes is a bad idea, but the users that do such sophisticated things will know about that sort of thing anyway.
Well, I better stop here before I go on and on. Please tell me what you think.

1. 7-row keyboard layout (at least optional), including mechanical trackpoint buttons
2. 16:10 or 4:3 or 3:2 display aspect ratio
3. IPS or PLS display with at least 900 vertical pixels
4. Thinner display bezel
5. 4G/LTE WWAN option for European region (AirPrime MC7710 etc.)
6. DisplayPort (no HDMI)
7. Better cooling (at least as good as X31 was) and silent fan
8. LAN connector on the back side
Do not remove LAN
Do not remove USB ports
Do not remove DisplayPort
Do not remove audio jack
Get rid of VGA
Make webcam, fingerprint reader and touchpad optional (i.e. 7-row keyboard layout without touchpad or 6-row with touchpad).

  • Kelby's wish list for LR4 ...

Scott Kelby posted his wish list for LRv4 on his blog today pointing out features, adjustments and tweaks he would like to see in the next iteration of Lightroom ....
    http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2010/archives/11824
Is he on target? Are his suggestions worthy, important and doable?
I must say I wouldn't be disappointed with his vision of what LR4 would be capable of ....

Personally, I'm on a pretty different page.
I could care less about Lightroom's slideshow capability - because I don't use it (I use 3rd party presentation tools after exporting from Lr).
I could care less about Lightroom's photobooks - because if I did use photobooks, I could do it in Aperture or some other 3rd party software.
I could care less about soft-proofing because I don't use it, and if I did, I could always pull the photos into another app that does support soft-proofing.
... I could go on, but my point is that anything that can easily be done at the endpoints of the workflow with another tool is less of a concern to me than the things I do day in and day out, which is Library + Develop, especially Develop.
And Adobe still has some serious image quality matters to address, e.g. Highlight recovery.
I would agree with Scott on these points:
    - Networked catalog support (although I don't have need, I understand other peoples need for this).
    - Soft-proofing: this is not a contradiction - I acknowlege other peoples strong desire/need for this.
Other stuff I don't use but would imagine becoming big:
    - GPS/Location support.
    My wishlist:
    - Finish what they started being #1 image-quality-wise
        - especially highlight recovery
        - and other hue shift anomalies.
    - Finish what they started being #1 performance-wise (read: get the bugs out so the performance for "all" of us matches the performance for the lucky ones).
    - Add better color handling and/or adjustment capability.
    - Better auto-tone and Active-D-Lighting-like support (fill-light + clarity goes pretty far now, and jjust fixing highlight recovery would be a huge step in the right direction here).
        - Fix 'Clarity' so that one can down-throttle its affect on "already high-contrast" edges.
    - targeted adjustments (based on luminance, color, ..., e.g. U-points only better)
        - includes making the auto-mask work better.
    - all adjustments available locally.
    - Separate channel levels and curves.
    - distraction removal brush (e.g. content-aware fill).
    - Support for image enhancement via plugin. - once pixel manipulation is integrated with parametric editing (see my #1 wish below) - this will be a fallout - I don't care too much whether image manipulation tools plug into photoshop or lightroom, as long as they are readily accessible in Lightroom without forking a separate photo.
    - Full-screen editing with develop panels + library panels simultaneously open on secondary monitor.
    - Full access to Lightroom UI via SDK (plugin) - including event notification and having things in the panels.
AND MY #1 WISH FOR LIGHTROOM 4:
    - 100% integration with Photoshop and/or other 3rd party pixel editors and plugins - this would include the ability to have multiple shots be considered sub-shots of an HDR image. - If this were done, it would lessen many of the needs for natively supporting things like separate channel levels and curves and all adjustments local. To reiterate: the main goal is to be able to do things presently relegated to pixel editors without forking a new photo, even if internally its handled as a fork - I don't want to have to manage an additional independent photo entity just to remove a twig.
I'm sure there's more, but I gotta go dance...
    Rob

  • Wish list for Lightroom 4

I just put together my wish list for Lightroom 4.
    http://davidnaylor.org/blog/2011/01/wish-list-for-lightroom-4/
What do you think? Did I miss anything important out?

I want soft proofing so bad, I didn't even upgrade to lr3, because the changes they did make meant so little in comparison to it.
Please Adobe, if you're reading this...SOFT PROOFING PUH-LEEZ!
Additionally, it would be very useful to be able to embed watermarks that are visible to printing services, but not visible when viewing files on screen.  I don't know if that's even possible, but it would help photographers who want to provide the files to our clients, but don't want them to have unlimited usage.  They can enjoy the photos on their computers, they could print too, but the printing services would be limited by whatever copyright limitations the photographer places on the invisible watermark.  For example, I might put something like:
copyright 2011 Iconic Photography, Vancouver, Canada
This image may be reproduced to a maximum print size of 8" x 12"
Contact Iconic Photography at [email protected] for more information.
This would prevent clients from making their own albums or wall prints.  Whaddaya say Adobe?

  • Missing Features, Bugs, and Wish List for Apple Engineers

I LOVE my iPhone. It is by far the best phone I have ever had. The interface is awesome. Great job Apple, but there are missing features and bugs that all of us want updated or wish were added. I know they were probably already thought of by Apple, but in an effort to make the phone perfect removed to make it more stable. Now that it is out lets make it perfect.
This thread will hopefully give you guys guidance from the early adopters who share your love for the phone (and others who want to chime in). I want to separate the list into a few categories and hope everyone will add to this thread with their ideas:
    1) BUGS/CHANGES TO EXISTING APPS:
    - Period should be in alphabet keyboard (make space smaller) or when you go to symbol keyboard and hit period it should automatically go back to the alphabet keyboard (unless you double click the symbol button which means stay there like caps lock)
    - Individual delete (like Mail) of all lists (eg. call list, bookmarks list, history etc.
    - Multiple item in a List delete (see below for how to select). This is also so un-Mac like to not be able to select multiple items to delete. It is all or none for clear/delete on the iPhone.
    - Implement double finger slide...in maps double finger tap zooms out so the OS recognizes this, why don't you use a double finger drag to mean "select". There is no way to select some words in a sentence or a group of items. This could be how. eg. In a list (eg Mail) double finger slide over items you want to select (instead of singer finger drag which moves the list) then one finger slide to the right to delete the selected items from the list.
    - Copy and paste. Since there are no menus this would require a gesture (ala newton)
    - when you tap the battery icon it should bring up a battery status dialog (ala wifi join dialog where the screen dims): present charge, big battery icon (like the charging one), time left. In addition, instead of giving battery usage details only after a full charge, give it at any point.
    - Since you know that nights and weekends are at set times (and not variable like it was on Sprint where I came from)...the phone usage details should be broken down into: peak minutes used and N+W minutes used (not hard to figure out since you know the time and dates of calls)
    - Be able to change font/background etc in Notes app
    - faster way to get to favorites in the killer phone app after turning on phone. Just seems like it takes too many taps to get there to make a call on a phone.
    2) WISH LIST FOR NEW APPS (apps that can be added with existing hardware, see #3 for other wishes)
    - iChat (obvious and probably almost done)
    - VOIP (probably not going to happen, and wouldn't work in Europe where I would need it most gven network speeds there)
    - Flight tracker widget
    - Exchange support (probably in the works)
    - Push email from gmail and .Mac (probably in the works)
    - Bluetooth sync
    - DUN (probably not going to happen since AT+T does not want it)
    - Data/File storage with sync
    - TODO APP that syncs to to do in iCal
    - Ringtones, definitely from songs from iPod side (obvious and coming soon I am sure)
-Search function like spotlight. Global would be awesome, but even just in contacts
    3) FUTURE HARDWARE RELATED WISHES (stuff we wish could be in hardware version 1 but know require a version 2):
    - GPS
    - 3G
    - LED that changes color and/or pulses (like MacBooks sleep light) that indicates things (eg charge status, Voice mail status, roaming status etc) without turning on the phone
    - Move camera to front to allow video conferencing (I doubt Steve would allow since it would mess up the clean front look)
Well I could go on and will add to this thread later, but I need to go to work to show everyone (and sell more apple stuff since many of my colleagues have been converted to macs). Now, all you pioneers, start adding things to help our beloved phone become better!
    Peter
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.6)

I agree with your post! I'm amazed by the simplicity, the screen, and the apps on the iPhone. They all have worked wonderfully for me, with just a few crashes while surfing or loading big email images. (I heard that shutting down the phone and restarting helps that.)
The single flaw for me is that the phone app itself should be primary, with more options (quicker access, unique ringtones, voicedial?) and ease of use. The other applications are so elegant, but I need my phone to be very accessible and practical too.
    My wish list:
    1) Make it fewer taps to get to the point where you can make a phone call. How about the main button can be programmed to take you wherever you want. I'd choose to go to Phone Favorites, so I could speed dial right away.
    2) Be able to set a preference as to what app you're in when you wake up the phone. I'd choose phone keypad, some might choose iCal, etc.
    3) Add the period and comma symbols to the alpha keyboard.
    4) Allow different ringtones for specific caller ID's.
    5) Copy and paste.
V2) With new hardware, add a "back" button to return to prev. screen. It could be small, on the side near volume?

  • What's on your wish list for the NIke+ sportkit?

Here's my wish list so far. What's on your wish list for the Nike+ Nano sportkit? (Already sent to Apple and Nike+ feedback so please don't tell me to do that. Apple & Nike+ do read the forum. )
    Nike+:
    I would like to see:
-- a date on the start of my goals (rather than just "you have 16 days to go").
--previous goal start and end dates (I have completed goals in half the time I gave myself but it doesn't show that)
--MOST IMPORTANT--some way to show improvement in pace (or distance, or time). At the moment you don't see what your previous cumulative pace was. You don't even know whether it's getting better or worse. You have to guess on the basis of looking back at each individual run.
--a simple, foolproof way to re-upload run data to Nike+
    Nano:
    I would like to see:
--a two-step way to end a run, rather the current four step Pause> Menu> spin the dial>End
--since the sensor obviously records steps (you can see step count in the xml file), let the users see that step count in their totals and upload the steps data to Nike+

    - support for podcast playing as well as typical control of now playing - the ability to move the item playing back if you miss something (say, while listening to a podcast or audiobook). I like to catch up on my podcasts while I run, then listen to music at the end of the run. I am kludging my way through with playlists right now, one for each day, but I'd really rather not. Really there should be a "Music" menu option so that you could choose to listen to an artist or an album or a genre - your choice - rather than just a playlist or shuffle songs.
    - support for other shoes, even legacy Nike shoes, perhaps with a rigid arch support insole or something that you can slip in that has a pocket for the sensor? I realize that Nike is likely looking at this as a way to make people buy higher margin shoes, but I'd pay extra for a Nike branded insole like that, too.
    - I agree with the option for a non-flash site.
    - The ability to turn off the power song feature, or at least customize some of the features. I'd prefer a quick trip to the main menu with a press and hold, say, with a menu item on the end of the main menu to return to the workout data (sort of like the "Now Playing" menu item) so that I can change music selections, change backlight timing, whatever.
    - I'd love to be able to access workout data on the PC without having to connect to the internet.
    - If you are listening to a podcast or audiobook, I'd like the spoken announcements ("you have 10 minutes to go") to pause the playback rather than speak over it, or at least give me the option to do so.
I've only had it a week; I am sure that I will come up with more as I use it more.

  • Does the Wish List for iPhone/iPad/iPod show price drops?

Does the Wish List for iPhone/iPad/iPod show price drops? I assume it would show the new price in the Wish List but does it inform you if the price drops?

The apps which show on the file sharing section on your iPad when connected to your computer's iTunes, you have exactly the same apps installed on your iPhone - they are not separate iPad and iPhone apps that you have installed on your iPad/iPhone, and only the iPad version supports file sharing ?
For iBooks, that won't show, it doesn't support file sharing. You can add ibooks / epubs / PDFs to your computer's iTunes library (the iBooks app if you are using a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it) via File > Add To Library, and you sync them to a device via its Books tab :
If you want to copy them off the device to your computer's iTunes (to the iBooks app on Mavericks) then File > Devices > Transfer Purchases will copy them over (that will copy PDFs and epubs from the iBooks app on your device, not just ibooks).

For those that are interested HERE is the main feedback page for  which allows you to send  feedback on various products.
This page is useful for anyone who hasn't purchased a product yet maybe because upon researching they've discovered certain features unavailable and they would still like to send  feedback of their concerns. Or you might not own said product but still have an idea for it. I'm just trying to think outside of the FCS2 box here (pun)

  • Nokia 5230 - Wish List for Next Firmware Upgrade

    heya guys,
I'm using Nokia 5230 with the latest firmware, V 12.0.089.
The following are my wish list for the next firmware upgrade:-
    1. Messaging > Sent Items: Please include short cut icons to Forward, Create New and Delete as in Inbox.
    2. Log > Recent calls: Unnecessary option for Call > Voice Call.
    3. Settings > Personal > Themes > Call image > Theme image: A bug with certain 3rd party theme (e.g. JustBlack - 5th theme). During lock mode, screen is totally blank during calls & alarms.
    4. Settings > Application mgr. > Installed apps.: Too much application will cause an error of "Application Manager Memory full"  and auto exit when selecting "Option". During error, phone memory is around 25MB, Memory Card is around 2.5GB/4GB.
    5. Ovi Map > Drive / Walk > Set Destination: Please do an icon based UI for History, Favourite, Search & From Map. The list is to small to click on to (when driving) :-)
    6. Organize > Please include multiple selections. E.g. Mark/Unmark > Mark / Mark All. Easy to move multiple applications at once to any folder.
That's all for now i guess. By the way, Nokia rocks!!
    Thanks in advanced.

Please integrate swype for messaging in the next firmware of 5230. Also kinetic scrolling for messages and contacts. If possible the homescreen of symbian^3.

  • Wish list for next iPod software update

I don't know if this the right place or not, I was unable to find a better place for this.
Wish list for next iPod 5G software update
1.) Use the same folder structure as in iTunes (could be an option)
2.) Allow creation of custom eq settings in iTunes.
That's all for now. Thank you Apple for a great product.
    Roy Owen
    A Happy iPod 80GB owner.

What the next update needs is a better way for ipods to deal with gapless albums, I have several albums that I put on gapless album cuz each track leads into the next one perfectly and that little pause really throws off the feel of the music. But I can't put either of those albums on Repeat All, Shuffle Songs or Shuffle Albums cuz then it only plays the one song in it's own playlist and to get to the next track I have to go back to the menu and scroll down to the next one, which is a hassle to say the least.

  • My iPhoto WIsh List for '07

Just sent the following to Apple's iPhoto Feedback; figured I'd post same here just for the heck of it. Many of these feature requests might only apply to my particular (and peculiar?) workflow, but I suspect at least a few of them might strike an empathetic chord...
    One User's iPhoto Wish List:
Your first priority is to contact the creators of iPhoto Diet and iPhoto Library Manager, pay them lots of money for their work, and then incorporate all the features of their shareware apps into iPhoto itself.
This would add to iPhoto features it should have had for a long time now, including:
    1) An option to delete unrotated originals.
It's silly to take up space on a hard drive with copies of files whose only difference is that one is correctly rotated and the other is not. Give us the choice to dispense with the unrotated ones.
    2) An option to delete the originals for any selected file(s).
I know that "always keeping a copy of the original" is a sacred cornerstone of the iPhoto app, but SOMETIMES, after I've edited, resized, or done whatever to a given file, I feel I've created the new master file, and I truly really honestly would like the ability to just dispose of the now redundant original and get the space back on my hard drive.
(If this sounds like giving the user of a "consumer app" too much control, by all means bury this kind of option behind all the Advanced Tabs and all the Warning Dialogs you want -- but please at least give us the option to manage what we ultimately keep or don't keep in our iPhoto Libraries.)
    3) Ways to manage multiple libraries on multiple machines with multiple users.
I have a 12GB (and growing) iPhoto Library on my G5 PowerMac. My wife's G5 iMac has a subset of that Library (about half the size), with the same Roll designations, Comments info, and Keyword assignments, along with some of the same Albums plus some unique Albums. I use iPhoto Library Manager to do this, but I should be able to do it using iPhoto itself.
Especially since the introduction of OS X, Apple has encouraged the notion of multiple users on multiple Macs. iPhoto needs to embrace that world view, and make the sharing and management of multiple iPhoto Libraries, even different versions of the same Library on different machines, a fluid, user-friendly, and fully-integrated process. For instance, I should be able to select which images, Rolls, and/or Albums from my Library get copied to my wife's machine (with all Comments, Roll info and Keywords intact) -- AND whether or not those copies include the corresponding original files or not.
    Other features iPhoto needs:
    4) Ability to correct and change the actual EXIF date/time info.
One example: It is extremely common to get jpegs from other users who haven't bothered to correctly set the date/time menu on their digital cameras. You want to correct that info, but if you do that in iPhoto's Info pane, and then Export that image and in turn Import it into another iPhoto Library, the Date/Time reverts back to the original INCORRECT setting. This is really annoying, and I feel like it's insulting my intelligence. (When I change the date of a photo, THAT'S the date I should now be able to search for by using the calendar mode, NOT its incorrect "creation" date.)
The current workaround of having to export the file, use another app like Graphic Converter to really change the exif data, then re-import into iPhoto (after first deleting the originals), then recreate all your Comments and Album arrangements, is clumsy, time-consuming, and when you think about it, absurd.
PLEASE consider a User Pref to the effect of "Changing Date/Time info changes original exif data as well"? You could have it unchecked as the default; you could have all sorts of "do you really want to do that?" warnings pop up when a user does check it -- but please just give us the option!
    5) Better User Pref options.
Give us the choice to NOT create a dupe original when a file is viewed in an external editor but no changes are made; likewise when just rotating an image within iPhoto.
    6) Better sorting/display options.
I display my library in Rolls (each Roll being pictures taken on a particular day or at a particular event). I'd like the ability to designate how files are sorted within a particular Roll -- the pictures in some Rolls sorted by file name, the pictures in other Rolls sorted by Date & Time.
Would also like to be able to insert dividers in the Source pane to separate some of my albums into different groups, as well as a way to set bookmarks or placeholders within a Library, as a quick shortcut to an often-viewed section for example.
    7) More e-mail attachment options.
Within each of the Small, Medium, Large, and Actual Size choices, there should also be (perhaps under an Advanced tab) a sliding scale of jpg quality, with an instant feedback showing what the total file size will be at that particular setting.
Also, there should be four checkboxes: one for Image Name, one for Date, one for Time, and especially one for Comments -- allowing the user to determine which of those four bits of iPhoto info are included in the e-mail attachment along with the image itself.
    8) Option to have Comments included in Captions for online albums.
Those same four checkboxes also need to be options for any kind online album posting. It's crazy that right now I can't put up an iWeb photo page that automatically includes the Comments I've taken the time to enter in iPhoto as part of that photo's Caption online.
    9) Option to show file extension in Title
Including or not including the .jpg or .psd or .gif extension is an option when Exporting a file; why not when displaying it as well?
    10) Option to "show all layers" of an imported Photoshop file.
Or any kind of layered file which has been imported into the iPhoto Library.
    11) Ability to enter partial dates.
It often happens when you import an older scanned photo into your library (or even when you're just sent a recent photo from a friend), you don't know know the exact date and/or time the picture was originally taken. iPhoto really needs a way to enter partial, approximate or estimated dates -- just the month/year without a specific day, for example -- both in the Info pane AND in Batch Change mode.
(Also wouldn't mind a user pref option to display the Time without the seconds.)
    12) Ability to Import pictures into an already selected Roll.
There are many times when I'd like to be able to select a particular Roll, then Import some new pics directly into that Roll -- rather than doing the Import, then having to drag the images sometimes several months back in time to drop them into the correct Roll.
    13) Ability to delete files from an Album and the Library simultaneously.
This would be some sort of Option-Delete command, where a selected image being viewed in a particular Album is ALSO removed and sent to the Trash from the Library as well -- with the appropriate warning dialog, of course.
    14) Built-in support for doing INCREMENTAL back-ups of either your entire Library -- or only the files from selected Albums -- to another hard drive.
I hope that most of these features have already been incorporated into the next release of iPhoto -- and if not, that you'll give serious consideration to implementing them as soon as possible. Your users will thank you.

should add ability to scan directly to iphoto.
How would I give this wish to apple?
Note that under the Application Menu (in other words, in iPhoto under the bold Menu item called "iPhoto", right next to the blue Apple icon), there's a selection called Provide iPhoto Feedback. Clicking on that opens your default browser (if it's not already open), and sends you to the specific Apple webpage set up to receive user suggestions for that particular app.
In this case, the URL is the one "Old Toad" mentioned in his post:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
Many of the major Apple apps have this direct menu link; for others you can just go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ and navigate from there.
They claim to actually pay attention to this kind of user input; and I've heard people say it actually does affect how the development and implementation of new features get prioritized.
    Let's hope so, anyway.

  • ITunes Store Apps (etc) Page Numbers, Wish List For My iTunes Account

Why doesn't the iTunes Store have page numbers under each page of the items (songs, e-books, apps, etc), because with over 200000 apps I will be damned if I am going to go back to the start of each apps category (for example) clicking in increments of 12 apps at a time until I get to app number 7264!!!!!! I WILL JUST STOP USING THE APPS STORE!!!
Some apps have a PRODUCTIVITY button in the left top corner that will take you back to the last apps browsing page you were on, while other apps have a BACK button in the top left corner WHICH TAKES YOU RIGHT BACK TO THE FIRST PAGE OF THE APPS CATEGORY YOU WERE BROWSING, so if you were up to app 734 (for example) you have to click through 64 apps pages JUST TO GET BACK TO THE APP YOU WERE UP TO LAST!!! INFURIATING - BEGGARS BELIEF!?!
WHY CANT I CLICK AN 'ADD TO WISH LIST' BUTTON ON EACH APP PAGE, SO I ALSO DONT HAVE TO BROWSE THROUGH ANOTHER 100 PAGES OF APPS TO FIND THE ONE I LOOKED AT IN MY LAST ISTORE SESSION??????
Hasn't anyone at apple used eBay or amazon???

Update: As of this morning the updates were GONE again, so I'm thinking this may recur on and off until all settles after the launch of new software and iDevices this week.

  • Wish list for Encore

I don't see a wish list category here so maybe we could start one.
My number one irritant in Encore 2.0 is the default ON of "Sync Button Text and Name." This in on by default and it should be off or unchecked in my opinion.
I do all my menus in Photoshop and import them into Encore. My buttons are all set. Then when I start assigning buttons to timelines I forget to uncheck this and it screws up my PS buttons by changing them to whatever I called my timelines. I really hate this. Thank goodness for undo, but when a default is never what you use, then the reverse should be the default. At least that's my two cents worth.
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

posted this earlier in another thread until i found out that this is where i should have posted.
    so here is my list:
    1. The ability to import power point slide shows into encore as a slide show. This would make it really handy to import some ones previously created slide show and turn it into a DVD slide show. It doesn't have to do all the fancy animations or transitions, just import the slide shows. Yes I know I can export from power point to jpgs. Have you really looked at the results? Crap is all I have to say. Of course I could recreate them in Photoshop or some other program that lets picture and titling be created. You know how much extra time that step costs?
    2. Could you make a project manager for encore that is similar to the one in premier? I would like to be able to trim the project and remove "temporary files". I especially hate the number of temporary menus that accumulate in the menus folder. I want to be able to back up the necessary files only, not all the junk. it would also be nice if it would grab the video(I) that make up the project and compile them in to the folder that I designate as the new project folder, just like premier does.
    3. its not really to hard to now, but it would be nice if there was some method for telling encore that you are creating an Easter egg. Currently there are a few steps to doing it and it is all manual. It would be nice if you could designate a button as being an Easter egg and then tell encore which choice of ways you want it to handle it. For instance is it just a simple Easter egg where you go on the right direction on a button and viola, you found it. Or is it a button that you go to and it goes to a duplicate menu and then you need to hit the right button a couple of times and then viola, you found it. Any thing to make my DVD creation to have a few less steps.
    6. Another thing that I think encore needs has to do with the flowchart. Give me some zoom on that baby. I like it, but it would be nice if I could zoom out to look at the overall structure.
    7. The ability to normalize the audio across the entire DVD. My wife made a disc and some parts were loud and others were so quiet. It would be nice to not have to do this for each clip before in premier, but leave it till the final stage of DVD production so that it only has to be done once.
    more to come :)

  • E71 Feedback and Wish list for future development

    Hi Nokia and Nokia Fans.
E71 is a masterpiece but I believe there's much room for improvement. My E71 is indispensable to me. I wish Nokia will strive to thrive the E series and in particular the E71.
Here's my wish list / features to add:
    1. A Task Manager for Symbian that's Nokia naively developed is absolutely essential as it's required to manage all aspects of applications, processes and threads, especially the misbehaving ones.
    2. Use better GPS Chipset with better sensitivity as the current one is really slackly.
    3. High-Speed WiFi connection to access and manage the phone including the mass storage instead of fiddling with wires.
    4. Secure zone for creating password-protected notes/memos/etc, previously called "wallet".
    5. Add SMS "Listen" feature for sent messages.
    6. Add "Timed" Profiles.
My feedback / Issues to fix:
    1. "Memory card in use" Error. Despite proper removal of USB connection when using PC Suite or Mass Storage data transfer.
    2. Configure to display "Firstname Lastname" format .
    3. Configure Date display to American format (Wednesday December 03 2008).
    4. Save current "configurations and user preferences" for future deployment after firmware upgrade or maintenance routine.
    5. When receiving a Bluetooth message with (.sis or .sisx) attachment, provide save to memory card option rather than launching installtion process.
    6. Setting up "WPA2 Only" mode on WLAN Security Settings for a particular Access Point will not allow communication despite the access point router/gateway is configured to work on this particular mode.
    7. Camera is another isssue. Fix color fidelity and picture clarity issues.
    Thanks
    .......To be revised as needed.

Nice wishlist, willing to front up the extra cash to have these features? Got to remember that until these feature become more common they will stay as premium items and that you need to pay the extra money or move to a higher priced plan for them. Getting something like device locks would be great though but then what would device locks do for a customer base? and they do have the data encryption built in....
I would like to see a 16:9 aspect ratio in the next version of the phone myself. A holster pouch w/ belt clip rather than looking for and buying an ill fitting pouch cos I really don't like the pouch it comes with and cant find a nice one. The ability to have more than just the plain 6 applications on the screen, it used to scroll if I remember correctly in the older ones. The ability to skip music tracks when pressing volume up or down. 3.5mm audio jack. Time and date or at least time shown on the top strip of the display when going through the menu (there are a number of time I want to know the time and have to program juggle to find out what it is. More symbols on the other keys rather than just on the right hand side, I do have 2 thumbs available to use and fairly dexterous with either hand.
Less "download - **bleep**" in the web menu it takes me to a link with useless stuff on it.....
That GPS chip needs to be replaced, it has me walking down the road or in my neighbours house when I'm just lying in my lounge.
This wish is for all Nokia Symbian devices, I would love to see a Nokia App store. I'm sure it'll come around once they get the symbian foundation off the ground but i'm impatient and a lil lazy and haven't always got the time to find an application for something I have thought up. Blackberry and Apple have got something of a centralised store up and running, C'mon Nokia! Get a move on!

  • My wish list for 9.0.3

I saw someone earlier this month listed their excellent wish list. The Jdev team responded and that was terrific. I just thought I'd list my growing list so they can see it, although I doubt any of these will make it to 9.0.3, unless they were already slated for inclusion. The list is in no particular priority order, it's just in the order that I encounted the bugs/desires.
    1.     Enable mouse wheel functionality. (Fix Bug 2055415)
    2.     Want to be able to drag and drop variables into watch window.
    3.     Want to be able to right click, and add the variable to the watch list, even though the program is not running yet. Now it only works if you stopped for a break point.
    4.     Not have JDeveloper window have its Normal window size reset to full screen upon startup. (Fix bug 1655341)
    5.     Code Insight sometimes is hard to invoke. For example, if I have a function, with a bunch of parameters already entered) and I click in the argument list, nothing happens (no popup). If I hit crtl-space, it brings up a huge list of all kinds of things that Im not interested in. What I really want is a way to bring up the list of argument parameters. Apparently the only way to do this is to get rid of all prior arguments and the left parenthesis and retype the left paren. But then if you say, paste in the existing arguments (which you cut to save them), then the argument list pop-up/tool-tip disappears and youre out of luck again. Basically, just have it work like Microsofts Intellisense which seems to know more intuitively what you want and when you want it. They even have a button on their edit toolbar which you can click when youre in an arg list to bring up Intellisense. Id like that button in Jdev.
    6.     Want easy way to comment out blocks of code. E.g., highlight lines and hit ctrl-/ and it will put a // in front of each line.
    7.     Want to be able to select a line of code by clicking in the left margin (arrow changes directions common in many applications, such as MS Word) rather than clicking and dragging a selection down to the line below.
    8.     Want a way to have bookmarks in the code editor. (Fix bug request #1797151.)
    9.     Dont have title bars of the various windows in the development environment have double lines across them. This makes it tough to find the proper line that you need to grab (cursor turns into double arrow head) to resize the window.
    10.     Upon restarting Jdeveloper, want replacement options (Single, Global, Prompted) to remain what I selected in my prior session.
    11.     Would like modified files in the System-Navigator window (System tab) to be in color (e.g. Red) rather than just black italics (not so obvious and hard to see).
    12.     When I click inside a method, the name of the method (which you see listed in the structure window) should become highlighted. Currently if you double clicked one method in the structure window and went there but then moused down in the code editor window and clicked in a different function, then the function (that you left) in the structure goes from blue highlighted to gray highlighted (fine I guess but would rather have no highlighting ) but the new method does not become highlighted (my gripe).
    13.     When youre going through the code doing search & replace, it should highlight, in the structure window, the name of the method that youre currently in (the place where its prompting you to replace).
    14.     When youre going through the code and stopping at breakpoints, it should highlight, in the structure window, the name of the method that youre currently in (the place where its prompting you to replace).
    15.     The only way to accept a suggestion from Code Insight is to press enter. It would be nice if you could also use the next logical operator like . (dot). Then the editor should insert the selected suggestion followed by . and start Code Insight again on the next level of the expression. There's already an enhancement request filed for this: #2197394
Gee, its starting to sound like I want JDev to look like Microsoft Visual Studio. A colleague just handed me Microsoft's Visual J++. I'm wondering whether to try it. I'm tempted but I'll hold off for a little bit.

    Hi Mark,
Responding to the Code Insight and Code Editor areas:
    5. Code Insight sometimes is hard to invoke. For example, if I have a
function, with a bunch of parameters already entered) and I click in the
argument list, nothing happens (no popup). If I hit crtl-space, it brings
up a huge list of all kinds of things that Im not interested in. What I
really want is a way to bring up the list of argument parameters.Code Insight has two flavors. One is code completion, Ctl-space, which shows you a popup list of possible completions. The other is parameter info, Ctl-shift-space, which shows you a tooltip with the list of argument parameters as appropriate. Different hot-keys. They can coexist on your screen when
    appropriate (starting with 9.0.3).
Apparently the only way to do this is to get rid of all prior arguments
and the left parenthesis and retype the left paren. But then if you say,
paste in the existing arguments (which you cut to save them), then the
argument list pop-up/tool-tip disappears and youre out of luck again. We've made a lot of improvements to Code Insight for release 9.0.3. It's much stabler than in v9.0. For example, the above problem is fixed for 9.0.3 (assuming I understand your request correctly).
Basically, just have it work like Microsofts Intellisense which seems to
know more intuitively what you want and when you want it. They even have
a button on their edit toolbar which you can click when youre in an arg
list to bring up Intellisense. Id like that button in Jdev.Hmm... we hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the idea. Can't guarantee that we'll implement it, but I'll bring it up for discussion.
    6. Want easy way to comment out blocks of code. E.g., highlight lines
and hit ctrl-/ and it will put a // in front of each line.#2175300. Implemented for 9.0.3.
    8. Want a way to have bookmarks in the code editor. (Fix bug request
    #1797151.)Implemented for 9.0.3.
    10.     Upon restarting Jdeveloper, want replacement options (Single,
Global, Prompted) to remain what I selected in my prior session.Implemented for 9.0.3 as an option in the preferences for the Code Editor.
Couldn't find a specific bug number for that.
    12. When I click inside a method, the name of the method (which you see
listed in the structure window) should become highlighted. Currently if
you double clicked one method in the structure window and went there but
then moused down in the code editor window and clicked in a different
function, then the function (that you left) in the structure goes from
blue highlighted to gray highlighted (fine I guess but would rather have
no highlighting ) but the new method does not become highlighted (my
    gripe).
    13. When youre going through the code doing search & replace, it should
highlight, in the structure window, the name of the method that youre
currently in (the place where its prompting you to replace).
    14. When youre going through the code and stopping at breakpoints, it
should highlight, in the structure window, the name of the method that
youre currently in (the place where its prompting you to replace).Treating all three as a single request: Any time the cursor moves in the code editor, hilite the appropriate node in the structure pane. This actually did occur to me just recently. Filing ER 2428707 to track this request. Probably won't make it into 9.0.3.
    15. The only way to accept a suggestion from Code Insight is to press
enter. It would be nice if you could also use the next logical operator
like . (dot). Then the editor should insert the selected suggestion
followed by . and start Code Insight again on the next level of the
expression. There's already an enhancement request filed for this: #2197394Won't make it into 9.0.3.
    Thanks for the suggestions!
