Just Bought A Creative Zen V (1

I just bought a creative zen v (GB) for my brothers 8th birthday, I was just wondering, seeing as I bought the zen v recently, will the latest firmware already be installed or am I required to install the latest firmware myself. Furthermore is it best to install the firmware straight away or wait until the zen v starts to have problems?
One last thing where do I download the latest firmware from and is the joystick really susceptible to damage?
I would be very grateful if people could leave comments as I don't want my brother facing major problems with the zen v as it's a birthday gift.

You may buy an annual subscription and pay monthly, or a straight monthly subscription... and, being a subscription, if you stop paying the software stops working
If you want a one time payment, and you can use 3+ year old software, go to Creative Suite 6

I just found my Creative Zen Touch but....

. Well as my title states, I just found my zen touch but it seems to have a fimrware problem.
Whenever i turn on the player it takes me to the Recovery Mode.
The options are
Creative Zen Touch v0.0.0
Clean Up
2 Format All
3 Reload Firmware
4 Reboot
I have tried going to Reboot, but it takes me to the same Recovery Menu.
What should I do?

I would recommend Cleanup-->Reboot as your first choice.
Cleanup is like ScanDisk on a computer. Basically, it scans your Zen's dri've and removes disk errors that can interfere with proper operation.
Next option would be Format-->Reboot. This is more drastic and you will lose all content on your Zen. Not such a problem if you've backed all your files up, but it will take some time to get your Zen organized like it was before.
Last resort is Reload Firmware. This is like reinstalling your computer's Operating System. It can be risky if your computer has trouble recognizing your Zen, as unless your Zen is recognized, you can't complete the Reload Firmware step and you can be left with an expensi've paperweight.

Just bought myself a Zen Mic

So, being an owner of a Zen Touch, I was impressed by the sound quality. I decided to buy a mini version, but then the new Ipods came out so I got an Ipod mini instead. After using it for 2 days, I sold it to a friend because the sound quality was weak compared to my Zen Touch. So today, I bought a Zen Micro. Hopefully I don't have one with a faulty headphone jack. My Micro came with firmware v..0.03, does anyone know if thats considered new?

Nope, it's not the latest. The latest can be got from?Nomadworld.com downloads (as per the?BEFORE you post, READ THIS FIRST (FAQ) post).
There's a big difference between the v and v2 firmware. More here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

Oh man, I got that case and I hate it. When my Micro is in it, the case doesn't firmly close, and I'm afraid that it will pop open and my Micro will get scratched worse than just being carried around in my pocket.

Great player, i love being able to record straight from the radio, the only problem i have is when i need to get some stuff off a friends PC i have to install the software off the CD onto my friends PC to be able to transfer stuff to the player....is there anyway around this?

What version of the Firmware is your Sleek running? You can find this under the information option on the main menu. If it is version .XXXXX then you may want to consider updating to the version 2.0.03 that is offered on our website. This is a plays for sure firmware which means it requires Windows XP SP or higher and Windows Media Player 0 installed. The advantage is that it uses the MTP driver that is built into Windows XP SP with WMP 0 or higher installed, meaning no need to install software on other's system. Since the majority of computers right now are running XP with SP or SP2 installed, in most cases the most you would have to do is install Windows Media Player 0 (which Windows will do automatically via Windows Update). However this may not be needed either since WMP 0 is starting to get as large an install base as WMP 9.
This firmware also opens you to the possibility of using some of the more advanced features such as subscription services (Napster to Go, Yahoo Music Unlimited...etc). To find out more go to www.playsforsure.com.
If you already have a version 2 firmware, then all you need to do is make sure your friend's systems have XP SP or higher and WMP 0 installed.

Trouble with creative zen 16b

I just bought a creative zen (6B) with version .20.02. I was able to transfer music from my windows media player once. But now i plug my zen to my laptop (windows vista 32b service pk) and nothing happens....does not recognize my zen. I had it setup to sync automatic when plugged into my pc but still Shows No player Connected, when indeed it is. What Can I do to fix this problem?

Is the player recognised in the Device Manager, do you see it listed there (perhaps as an unknown device, or with an exclamation mark)?

Creative Zen 4gb, is it supposed to turn off the display to save the batte

Yes, it is possible. On the right hand side of the player is the slider to turn on the player, push the slider upwards to the lock position and the screen will turn off. That is the Hold mode. At this mode, all the buttons would be inaccessible to prevent accidental pressing of the buttons. This is the mode to use when you are just playing music and do not need the display.
To unhold the player, just push the slider to the middle position and all the way down to turn it off.

How to save video to play on Creative Zen Vision M

My (PC using) friend just bought a Creative Zen Vision M (the competitor to the video iPod). It will play MPEG1, 2, and 4SP and will play MPEG's created in an older version of iMovie (I forget which, it's been a few years). For some reason, the MPEG4 version created by iMovie HD6 is not compatible with the Zen player.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to export from iMovie HD 6 in a format that can be used by the Creative Zen Vision M?

Sorry about your ZEN Vision:M. From what you mentioned, I don't think the data is recoverable under normal means. You probably might want to take it to a technician? or someone who is familar with electronics to see if they can remove the harddisk from the ZEN Vision:M and recover the data.

Creative Zen V and Windows 7?

I'm just bought a Creative Zen V 4MB and am having problems with installing it. I'm using Windows 7 and now realising this could be the reason why!? Is there a driver that will work with Windows 7? The installation from the CD partly worked, but I got lots of error messages during installation to say contact customer support (will post exact message if this helps),

Yes I bought the player on Amazon Marketplace - unfortunately I bought the player new so I didn't realise that it was discontinued and there wouldn't be any official support for it. Also the reason I bought a new player was because after I upgraded to Windows 7 my old Zen Micro wouldn't work with it so I seem to have the same problem now :/!
I have connected the player again and it is recognised and I can transfer files across from my computer. The problem seems to be with the media explorer - when I try to open this up the computer hangs. Is there any service pack or file you can point me in the right direction of which may fix this?

i just bought a creative zen v plus and i have windows vista ultimate and when i hook up the zen v plus the computer doesnt recognize that its connected and it says no device is connected even though it is is this because i have windows vista or is it another reason plz help?

if you havent used the cd do so.you need it installed for it to recognise the player and even just to charge it via usb

Starting today i m also a creative user. Sadly i m having some troubles to install it..
I have windows Xp Pro SP2
i just bought a creative ZEN 4GB, i m trying to install butduring theinstallization it keep saying me this:

Do install fails to launch c:/ windows / temp /CRF000 / CTXinst /setup.inx

i have tried to install it again and again but wont help, i also tried to use WMPlayer to sync my p3 but it didnt help also.

Did you break the harddisk? it sounds like you did maybe, but I dont know. Just from what I have read before, that could be it...

My Creative Zen 20GB

I just bought my Creative Zen 20 GB today. I charged it until the "sign" disappeared (I did things according to the manual). However, when I switched it on, it just hung. For quite a long time too and it is still not recovering. I left it to charge further. Can someone pls help me? Thanks!

At what point does it hang? Can you try getting into Recovery Mode?
You don't mention specifically which player you have (or do you have the player that is currently available in Asia called the Zen 20GB?), but it may be covered by this page:

You can download drivers and applications for the player on this site, just click on Support -> Downloads.
You need to download a driver (install this first), the full MediaSource Player/Organizer application and then the MediaSource plug-in.
