Just bought a MacBook Pro 15 Inch with the 2.53 Ghz (Fan Issue)
Hi, this is my second macbook pro and I am wondering if this is an issue or not. Ever since I opened it out of the box a few days ago, the right side of the laptop is slightly louder (the fan) than the left fan. It is not an abnormal noise (its a natural sound of the fan spinning) but its slightly louder. They are both currently running at 2000 RPM default (from istat widget) but I am wondering if this is normal. My first macbook pro (2009) is quieter.
Is an SMC reset necessary for a 3 day old macbook pro or some other solution? If anything is wrong, then I shall return it for another one with 14 days.

I believe the fans are independently controlled, so if you are doing something processor intensive the fan over the CPU would undoubtedly be running more than the one over the GPU. Judging that it's your 2nd MBP, it's probably normal.

So I bought my MacBook Pro 13 inch with AppleCare protection about 2 weeks ago and from the moment it came out of the box I noticed that the battery was draining very quickly. Perhaps in the midst of my excitement of having a new computer I ignored it thinking it could somehow get better but obviously it has not. Average after being fully charged from being dead the batter lasts maybe an hour to an hour and a half. I'm assuming apple will take care of this seeing as it came to me like this but that's exactly my question, will they? You have a 14 day grace period to exchange it for one that works.

Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID. App Store should be in the Dock.

I just bought a Macbook Pro do I get the iWork update for free?
I bought my Macbook Pro on Monday (7/23/12) and now 2 days later they have come out with Mountain Lion and iWork update. I know I get the Mountain Lion update for free but do I also get the iWork update for free. If so, how?
If your system is only 2 days old, you may have the most recent version of iWork. Just run Software Update to be sure.

Well no one out there. I hate to have to take this 13" Mac Book Pro back , get my money back . Seems I'll have to. This is about the third time I have asked for help from Mac (APPLE) and I never hear back from them..
Does that problem happen with some applications? If so, the problem is that you are using applications that are not designed for Retina display. The developer should have done that months ago.
If that's your problem, first check that your applications are updated. If you want to make them look better, you can decrease resolution in System Preferences > Displays, but do not worry, because this does not mean that your MacBook Pro is damaged.
However, if you cannot use your Mac because the GPU is not working correctly, you have to return it and get another one -

if you have other computers in the house, your modem might be blocking it. I've have seen users with the same issue and have experienced it myself. if powering down all computers and devices that connect to the modem do not work, i will have to suggest you call your internet service provider to assist you with your modem.

I've barely had it for a week and its starting to run slow. Wepages take forever to load and its impossible top watch any videos online. I am connected wirelessly. My other much older laptop is working fine on this connection and for a few days my Macbook Pro was lightning fast. Now it runs slower than my 3 year old laptop. Also some videos tend to get choppy when I move the mouse. The audio, however, continues uninterrupted. The laptop also started taking some time to shut down. I bought this open-box from Bestbuy. And right now Im realizing that this is actually a Macbook Pro Mid 2010 after looking up the specs which is strange as the box it was in says 2012.
Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 288 MB
Software OS X Lion 10.7.3
Macbook HD: 731.83 GB free out of 749.3 GB.
Could the problem be that this is a 2010 laptop? I can still return it as its been a week.
I've cleared the cache, cookies, and history but it has little effect on the way videos and pages load.Where did you buy this laptop? I know if I opened a box expecing and having paid for a 2012 model and found a 2010 model, I'd be back at the store demanding an exchange quicker than you could imagine. Open box or not, if you thought you were buying a 2012 model, you should get what you paid for.

Your battery would slowly drain during any period of disuse even if it were removed from the computer and nothing were connected to it at all. A fundamental property of every battery is that whenever it isn't being charged, it's draining. If your compputer is shut down entirely, expect the battery to lose 0.5-1% per 24 hours without AC power connected. When it's sleeping, it will lose closer to 1% per hour. In either situation, leaving the AC adapter plugged in will prevent the battery from draining more than 5-7% in total before it starts to charge back up again.

The MBP has an N card that operates at 5 GHz. Does not require a dual band router so does the iPhone and iPad, so unless you have legecy G equipment you won't need a dual band G/N.

Will a UK apple store swap the amercian charger for an english one?
The charger is international - you just need the correct prong adapter. Should be able to get one in any DIY shop.

I tried last week. The best I could get was a discount on the repair, but the damage to my logic board by the GPU caused it to no longer boot. The program ended in December last year, but it has been extended in the past.
If you have no other damage you might be able to get a flat rate tier 1 repair if you are in the USA. -
I just bought a macbook pro and want to use my own iCloud account for my iPhone. How do I sign off of the current account on my iPhone and sign in with my own iCloud account i set up my mac?
On your phone, Go to "Settings", "iCloud", scroll to the bottom and "sign out." Assuming you have the the account password/security info of the current account, it will delete everything iCloud related upon your approval (don't worry, everything will remain in the cloud.) Once signed out, in the same settings location (under "Settings", "iCloud") sign in using your Apple ID and Password.

i have just bought a macbook pro and i want to use an ext hard drive with it which i previously used on a windows computer, but when i plug it in it doesn't show up on my macbook pro, I've wiped it and just need to format it but don't know how, any help would be much appreciated
Try the other USB port. If it still doesn't show up in Disk Utility then there may be something wrong with your Mac. Try something else in each USB port and see if it is seen. If the other thing, like a USB thumb drive, does show up in disk utiltiy then the USB ports are fine.
Power down the system and restart with the drive connected, go to DU and see it it is seen.
