Just bought a macbook pro retina 15in 6 weeks ago after asking if there would be an update soon (which they said no) and now they have upgraded it!!
Am furious that I have wasted my money $2100 - I would have waited just over a month if I had known - is there any comeback - will apple upgrade my macbook?
You can always ask but I'm betting that Apple won't replace the machine. The speed increase was modest, so I wouldn't worry too much about it anyway.

My MacBook Pro with Retina display suddenly gave me a message when I boot up ie 'Your startup Disk is full' then after using a few more times, the screen suddenly become frozen white. Upon getting help, I managed to delete some files but when I checked the Storage space, the largest occupied space was orange color, named 'Others' which is more than 100 GB out of the total 120 GB!! I am surprised and do not understand what 'Others' mean. It is definitely not Audio, Video, Pictures, documents etc It is not mail too. If anyone can tell me what 'Others' in storage mean and how to see the contents of 'Others' so that I can delete those irrelevant files. Any advice and guidance is very much appreciated. It is "last years model" and it came shipped with Mac OS X 10.7.5. I was just wondering if I could update for free since it is brand new mac?
Supposedly if you purchase 10.8 and check out, if the machine is one on the list the account is not charged.
I can't confirm this, but that's what one person reported back as what occured. -
I've just bought a Macbook Pro 15" and I'm trying to use Photoshop, but the resolution its displaying the images at for 100% are too small. I have to design for the web, so need to be intricate with detail, but I'm finding it adjusts the resolution of the image right down. (I mean you can see the image clearly, but it's too small to edit). When I look at Safari and see a web page at 100% it's clear, but the same page displayed in Photoshop CC appears 50% of the size (even though it says it's 100%) If I move the application window to another screen it adjusts it correctly – leaving all the pallettes, menus and tools correctly sized as they are on the retina display Is there some way to adjust the way Photoshop CC displays images so it is more consistent with what you actually see? I tested both ways. With "open in low resolution" ckecked the size of the images is cool, but it is low-resolution including Photoshop appearance.
If "open in low resolution" is unckecked the appearance is good but the very small size.
See the image below. It has 650 x 732 px, 72 dpi. The font of the text "Neste aniversário ..." is with 18pt. -
I just bought a Macbook Pro with Retina and I cant' seem to connect my HTC One X+ cell phone to it. It seems that I have to download the HTC software for the phone called HTC Sync Manager, but app won't open on the Macbook Pro because it's "unidentified." PLEASE HELP! I just uploaded all of my music and I really want it on my cell to run to. Thanks!
OK Folks i believe i have actually found the solution. I know i am a bit slow but i only got my New HTC One 32gb today (it was free from Three). Like you it would not connect to my Mac or work PC. So here is the way i got it to work. Download Android File Transfer if you have not already got it. Make sure you have USB Debugging setup etc. Now you need to download a free programme called SyncMate. I used SyncMate 4 because i am running OS X 10.7. There is a paid for version of Syncmate but we just want the free version as it seems to contain some drivers that will make Android File Transfer see you phone. Download SyncMate, install it as per usual and hey presto when you plug in your HTC One Android File Transfer should open automatically...BINGO!!! It worked for me which i am really chuffed about as i was just about to ring Three back up to get the phone returned. Let me know if it worked for you too :-)

I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%. How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?
The system regularly lets the battery drop to about 95% when on the charger, then recharges to 100%. This lets the batery exercise "just a little" all of the time and saves the recharge curcuits from overuse.
Regualr occurence for me.
Also ... you need to let your battery work at least once per month. Let it run down to 40%, but not less if you can at all avoid it. Running thr battery fully dead will shorten the battery life significantly. -
I just bought a macbook pro and want to use my own iCloud account for my iPhone. How do I sign off of the current account on my iPhone and sign in with my own iCloud account i set up my mac?
On your phone, Go to "Settings", "iCloud", scroll to the bottom and "sign out." Assuming you have the the account password/security info of the current account, it will delete everything iCloud related upon your approval (don't worry, everything will remain in the cloud.) Once signed out, in the same settings location (under "Settings", "iCloud") sign in using your Apple ID and Password.

Bit of a tough one...I have a hard drive, iPod and iphone synced to an itunes on a computer that's been irreparably broken. Just bought a macbook pro and want to try and salvage everything onto the itunes on there. Any ideas?

i have just bought a macbook pro and i want to use an ext hard drive with it which i previously used on a windows computer, but when i plug it in it doesn't show up on my macbook pro, I've wiped it and just need to format it but don't know how, any help would be much appreciated
Try the other USB port. If it still doesn't show up in Disk Utility then there may be something wrong with your Mac. Try something else in each USB port and see if it is seen. If the other thing, like a USB thumb drive, does show up in disk utiltiy then the USB ports are fine.
Power down the system and restart with the drive connected, go to DU and see it it is seen. -
I just bought a MacBook Pro, and need to d/l my photos from my memory card reader. iphoto keeps coming up as the app to use, but the column on the left says "No name, and shows 0 photos on the black screen. How do I view the photos on the reader?
Did it... When I clicked on "No name", a file folder came up and, I forgot to put MacBook Pro in the name bar... That was it! Maybe someone else can use this post Hopefully...

I have just bought a Macbook Pro and sync data from my old version onto the new one...However when I tried opening the mail client...Message window does not appear. The old Macbook Pro I was using used Snow Leopard. Now with the new it is a Lion. Toruble now when I click onto new message window I have the spinning icon which show it is trying to load. However it fails and Im left with having to Force Quit it. How can I resolve this problem

I have bought a Macbook Pro Retina, and the iPhoto which comes with it, has a different iPhoto Book menu. I cannot see how to put text at the bottom of the pages of photographs, instead of the default place in the middle. Is there a way to do this?
There are different templates for iPhoto books and they differ from version of iPhoto to iPhoto, so explore the other options.
