Just bought a refurbished ipod nano g1, wont charge the batteries
Just bought a refurbished ipod nano g1, when trying to start it up for the first time, sometimes the apple logo will pop up and stay there for hours and wont let me register my ipod in itunes and other times it will just be a blank screen.
Tried the 5 R when the apple logo popped up, however when i did the "menu and centre button move, but the screen will shut off and wont start up again.
Faulty hardware?
There should be an option (on the left hand side of your iTunes) for your iPod. Then when you click on it you will just need to setup and there will be an option to sync at the bottom right hand corner

Just bought this refurbished iPod Touch 3G about 2 weeks ago. It keeps switching off and rebooting on its own fairly often. I wasn't sure if it was because it was refurbished or if I needed to contact support to exchange it.
If it keeps happening after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod then I would say it is defective and should be returned.

Yes but it is then difficult to get the iPod to sync with your computer later. It can be done by backing up the iPod on the friend's computer and then moving the iPod backup file to your computer and transfering iTunes purchased to yur computer and then restore the iPod from that backup and syncing.

If it is plugged into a USB hub (or the spare keyboard port), try connecting it to a direct USB port.
Also, try doing this Reset procedure, while it is connect to power.

The home button broke on me, so while setting up servicing for it, when I entered the serial number into the Apple site, my supposedly "3rd gen" Ipod showed up as a 2nd gen. Is this normal? And if not, what can I do about it?There are no 3rd gen 8GB models. They did not make them.

I just bought an ipod nano. I cannot sync it . It will say on the screen that it is syncing and that it is finished but then there is not music on it from my computer. Can anyone helo me?
As you connect your ipod to iTunes, an option in the upper right of the screen will appear. When you click this, it will show the different menu for your ipod.

IPod Nano - Usb not charging the battery/connecting
OK, i got a 4gb Ipod nano, after i got my previous ipod replaced by apple (cracked screen), it worked at first but a couple of days after i let it decharge, put when i tryed to recharge it with my usb 2.0 cable, nothing happened at all, did not connect or charge at all, so i went to the local apple shop, and the guy there said something about usb not being able to "kick start" a flat battery, and i said i should buy a apple plug charge, so i bought a 3rd party one from ebay, and it did not work so.
Then i bought a Firewire Cable and it did make me able to turn on the ipod (i can play music etc), but it did not charge at all, the instant i unpluged the cable it would turn off (the Firewire Card is a 6 pin card, and i bought a 3rd party firewire cable from ebay)
Anyways i have no idea what's wrong with it, so any one have any suggestions?Hiya ladd,
OK, I see a consistent problem here: 3rd party stuff from eBay *****. You might try spending a little extra to get the genuine Apple accessories so we can at least rule out the 3rd party stuff as part of the problem.

If you have multiple I-pods/Nano's does each one need their own Itunes icon? How do you handle I tunes with multiple products? I tries opening my current itunes and plugging in my kid's Nano. Itunes just says "doesn't recognize" and instructs me to unplug.

So iTunes is telling you unrecognized device or Windows telling you this? You may need to uninstall and re-install the Nano's drivers.

First, you may want to choose to have the sidebar displayed for familiarity:

Afterwards, your device should be displayed if connected:
We'll want to click on it, and choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have the option to sync either the entire music library (for your first iPod), or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" (for the secondary device). Upon selecting this option, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. For audiobooks, you may need to do the above in the "Books" section. I cant get my Nano to sync to my computer. It is new and and I downloaded the latest Itunes last week. I hit sync and it makes a sound within a second and then says it is done. What can I check?

Just bought a 16gb Ipod Nano new and not working.
Plugged it into the 3 computers in the house and we are getting the same message, USB Device not recognised.
It is not charging and we are not getting any response from it at all. please helpIf you have another Lightning cable available try it and also inspect the Lightning port on the Nano and clean it if necessary. If that doesn't work return it for another one.
